Pain… that's all Emma could feel. The ringing in her ears didn't help and the smoke made breathing hard. Bringing her hand to her head, she found that she had a cut and it was bleeding. Getting up from the ground, Emma saw chaos. Women and children were trying to make it into the buildings to get away from the gunfire. Finally getting her balance, she found her gun case in the truck and started to put it together. Slowly running toward a group of kids hiding behind a wall, Emma looked around to see where the shooter could be that was pinning them in. Looking up she saw him and lined up her shot and took it. Falling off the roof, Emma ushered the group of kids to the school building. She looked around and saw Billy and Kyle shooting toward two buildings and before she could look for anyone else, she heard a sound she'd gotten used to the last few months… an RPG was fired. Looking up, she saw it go past her head and hit a building but what had her heart in her throat was that Zach and Shae were in there with another group of kids. And she couldn't do anything for them as she saw the rocket hit it. She watched in horror as the building collapsed but also saw some kids running only for them to get hit with bullets. Looking up, she saw the gunmen and started to shoot in their direction as she moved closer to the building.

"Yahsul! Yahsu!" She yelled as she showed them to run towards the school building.

"I've got them." Kelton said behind her. "You go find Shae."

Running towards the building, Emma found Shae and helped her up. Both women looked around for Zach but they only saw a part of him. Moving over the rubble, Emma got to him first and lifted a wall of his side only to see that he was on fire. Knowing she needed to get his vest off before the flames hit his backup ammunition. Emma started to rip it off his vest not caring that it was burning her hand. Shae took the burning vest and threw it away from them.

"Zach, you have to breath. Please just breath." Emma pleaded with him.

"Grace, we can't move him." Shae said, "His right side is crushed. I will stay with him."

"Keep him awake and keep talking to him. The medical team will be here soon, I hope." Emma said, not wanting to leave but she knew she needed to find Hasan and Wallace.

Giving Zach and Shae one last look, she made her way outside only to find the person she'd been waiting… Hasan. He was running towards to the prayer building that was still standing but before she could follow she saw Hunter on the ground. Running over to him, she saw that he was shot in the leg and the shoulder. Trying to get him to stand she felt a numbing pain shoot through her shoulder and Hunter collapsed on top of her. Wiggling out from under him, she saw a bullet hole between his eyes. Trying her best to stand up, Emma felt bullets all around her but she also heard voices yelling at her to move. Moving towards the building Hasan ran into, she reloaded and decided to go to the building across from the building he was in. She walked up the stairs, she kept on looking out to see if she could find him. Seeing him on the roof, she lined up her shot but he was holding a little girl in front of him as a shield.

"Azhar nafsak" Hasan yelled turning in all directions, looking for her.

She wasn't going to yell back because she didn't want to give her spot away. Emma ensured she got the shot lined up right, fighting the dizziness, nausea, and burning in her hand and shoulder. Making sure she had him in line, she fired and hit him in the shoulder and as soon as the little girl moved away, she fired another shot and hit him in the head.

"Traitor." Emma said with a smirk. Seeing Alex hug the little girl, she lifted herself off the ground and made her way down the stairs.

She was about to turn the last corner when she felt someone grab her hair and hit her face on the wall.

"I told you one day we're going to fight to see if you're tough enough." Wallace spat at her as he pressed her face into the rough surface.

"How does it feel knowing you betrayed your country?" Emma spat back as she pushed herself off the wall as hard as she could, hitting him on the opposite wall. "Your brothers."

Wallace pushed her off him and he saw how badly she was hurt. "You have no idea what you're talking about." He yelled before he took out a knife.

"I know you better than you know yourself and put that away… you don't want to start a knife fight with me." Emma smirked before he lunged towards her with the knife. Moving out of his way, the knife nicked her wrist but Emma wasn't having it. They started a little dance and even though injured, she was still faster than him and all her training with Kensi paid off. He did nick her a couple of times but not something big. Deciding that this had gone on long enough, she lined herself up and tripped him. He landed on his back, knocking the wind out of him. Emma moved her body away from him but he was a little bit faster than her and got the knife into her leg. Suppressing the need to yell, Emma grabbed his wrist with the knife in it and twisted it around. Having the upper hand, she took the knife from him and stuck it into his abdomen. Letting go of him, he fell to the ground holding his stomach.

"You sold your country for what? A few pieces of silver?" Emma asked with the knife in her hand, looking at him as he tried to get back up. "You killed women and children because you were greedy."

"The county you protect isn't worth it. They kill thousands of people and nobody cares." Wallace said swinging at her with a fist.

Emma got out of his way fast and stuck the knife into his upper arm and kept it there. "And nobody's going to care if you don't come home." She finished as she brought the knife down, tearing the muscles before she ripped the knife out. She saw him fall to the ground but she was getting tired and cold, knowing she was losing blood. Seeing a roll-up door chain hanging from the roof, Emma grabbed it and wrapped his injured arm in it so it would be in the air. Checking the chain, Emma went to where the button was, she hit it and saw him lifted in the air. "You're going to die here and I promise you, the country you betrayed will make sure your name is out there as a traitor." Emma said before exiting the building. She knew that it would keep the bleeding down but also if he didn't get help quickly, he might lose his arm and she didn't care. He killed her friends, women, and children and he deserves worse but for now, this will do. Walk out she saw Walker running towards but she couldn't stand anymore. All she remembers was him yelling at her before she closed her eyes.

Los Angeles

"It's okay, Nell, I'm not angry. Just saying when you're driving on a road trip, you're the dad and the dad is responsible for calling out the rest stops. Am I right." Callen said as they all walked into OPS.

"He's right." Deeks and Kensi said at the same time.

"I'm mean sorry guys. I just don't know how it happened. I mean, Callen I apologize profusely." Nell said with a smile.

"You did it on purpose, didn't you?" Sam said with a smile.

"What's that saying… Revenge is a dish best to a person with a full bladder."

"That hurt." Callen said with a smirk.

"I'm going to grab Eric and Hidoko and we'll meet you there." Nell said as she walked up the stairs.

"Keane, nice seeing you again. How are you feeling?" Sam asked the older man.

"Doctors fixed me up good." Keane said with a small smile.

"We're all going to grab a drink, do you want to join us?" Callen asked.

"I think I'll pass but maybe next time." Keane said.

"Hetty?" Kensi asked.

"I think I'll join you another night." Hetty said with a smile.

"Okay, sounds good. See you tomorrow." Deeks said with a smile but the s mile vanished when he saw Eric coming down the stairs with a serious look on his face.

"Callen, you have… have a call." Eric stuttered.

"From whom?" Callen asked.

"AD Hayes." Nell said on top of the stairs.

Callen took the stairs two at a time and the team followed him as fast as possible. Walking into the War room, Callen looked at the older woman on the screen and standing next to her was Director Vance.

"Agent Callen, sorry for the interruption." Hayes said with a small smile.

"Where is she?" Callen asked without blinking.

"Callen…" Vance started but he didn't finish.

"WHERE IS MY DAUGHTER?" Callen said again.

"She's in the medical unit in Germany. As soon as she's stable, she'll be transported to the VA Hospital in Washington DC." Hayes said with a sigh.

"Why DC?" Sam asked.

"There will be an investigation on the actions of Agent Callen and the rest of her team." Hayes said.

"You mean they're going to pin this all on her?" Callen asked.

"That's not going to happen, Agent Callen. Grace knew heads would roll if this didn't go the way the big boys wanted it to go. She knew the risk and she was still willing to do this assignment." Hayes said.

"You didn't give her a choice." Deeks said, "You took her the same day she graduated and sneaked her out of the country in the middle of the night."

"Det. Deeks, we didn't kidnap her. She was given a choice and she could have said no but she didn't." Vance said, "Maybe you should ask yourselves, why was she so willing to go on this assignment."

"What does that mean?" Sam asked.

"Emma-Grace wants to make you proud. All of you and she wanted to ensure she was ready for this life. All she ever wanted to do was make you proud of her." Vance said.

"She didn't need to go and put her life in danger to make us proud." Nell said.

"I know that but have you ever told her that?" Hayes said. Everyone in the room just looked down.

"How long before she's in DC?" Callen asked.

"We don't know, it's up to the doctors and Grace." Vance said.

"Okay, I'll book a flight to Germany." Callen said as he walked towards the door.

"That's not possible, Agent Callen." Hayes said, "Grace is under sequestration. Once she's back in DC and released from the hospital, she will be housed in a hotel till the trials. Just like the rest of Naval Company 7."

"I'm sorry, did you just say Company 7?" Kensi asked, shocked but before she could hear the answer her phone rang. Holding up her finger she picked up and made her way out the room, "Hey mom."

"Agent Callen, do you know someone in DC who doesn't work in law enforcement?" Vance asked as Callen paced around the room.

"She has two friends in Quantico. One of them works for the FBI but his partner's an IT specialist. Why do you ask?" Sam said, knowing Callen's trying to figure out how to get to Emma without them knowing.

"They will allow one visitor while Grace's in hospital but once she's in the hotel, she'll only have communication with a lawyer." Hayes said, "Just like the rest of the team."

"How many did we lose?" Hetty asked.

"Three of our own. The villages lost 35 kids and 11 adults." Hayes said as Kensi walked in.

"Zach's on his way to the Naval Hospital in San Diego. They're only allowing my mom to see him." Kensi said and everyone could see she was holding back tears. "Once he's stable and can be discharged and then he'll be held in a hotel close to base."

"Sargent Allen and Smith will be held there too until they need to testify." Vance said.

"I'm sorry, Agent Blye. I didn't realize you were connected to someone on the team I sent over." Hayes said.

"What's going to happen to Emma-Grace once she's done testifying?" Eric asked.

"That depends but I will make sure she has the best lawyer, I can promise you that Agent Callen. If something happens to Grace, I will contact you first." Hayes said with a small smile. "I will try my best and see if they will allow her friend to contact you after his visits."

"Thank you." Callen said but they could see he was struggling to keep his emotions intact.

"I will let you go and see your other daughter." Hayes said before the screen cut off.

"Agent Callen?" Hetty said as she looked at him, "Callen, I know this is hard but you have to trust Hayes."

"My daughter is in the hospital and I can't go see her or hold her hand. You want me to trust someone I don't know." Callen said louder than he should have.

"I know, that's my granddaughter. But I also know Hayes and she's a woman of her word. She will make sure Emma-Grace comes back to us and then we can help her heal." Hetty said, "The same with Zach. They will need their family and friends to get them past this."

"Thank you, Hetty." Deeks said as he brought Kensi to him.

"Go home, give Maeve a big hug and tell her that her sister will be home soon." Hetty said with a small smile.

"Come, I'll drop you off at home." Sam said as he slapped Callen on the back.

"Keep an eye on him Agent Hanna." Mosley said, "And Agent Callen, don't do anything stupid."

Two weeks later

"Maeve, you need to come and get your shoes on please." Callen yelled at the little playing on the living room floor.

"Okay, dada." Maeve said as she ran for the door.

"You ready to learn this again?" Callen said as he put her shoes on her feet, "Bunny ears, bunny ears, playing by the tree. Criss-crossed the tree, trying to catch me. Bunny ears, bunny ears, jumped into the hole, popped out the other side beautiful and bold."

"That funny dada." Maeve giggles.

"Okay, you try." Callen said as he loosened the laces again.

"You say it." Mae said as she tried but she just couldn't get it and Callen could see she was getting angry at herself.

"Hey, it's okay. We will work on it and you will get it. Rome wasn't built in a day." He finished as he tied her shoe's.

"What Rome?" Mae asked with her head tilted.

"I'll take you there someday." Callen said.

"I want Amma." Maeve said with tears in her eyes.

"I know baby, I want her to be home too and she will be here soon." Callen said as he hugged the little one to his chest. "We need to get going, OPS awaits."

Callen got the little girl buckled in her car seat and started the drive to OPS. Maeve was at that age where she didn't want to listen to kids' music so he had to find something for her to listen to. Thanks to the gang, she was now on her Taylor Swift stage and boy did he wish Emma would come home so she could listen to Tay-Tay over and over again. Stopping behind Sam's car, he grabbed his bag and made his way towards Mae. She was on her "I'm a big girl and I can do it myself' stage too, so waiting for her to unbuckle herself he grabbed her bag.

"I did it!" Maeve said as she jumped out of the car and ran to the door.

"You did and please remember, inside voice today." Callen said as he opened the door for her. As soon as the door opened, she was off and boy was she a bottle of energy.

"I see the little one's back." Mosley said as she waited for him.

"That happens when your childcare is taking care of her kid that's in the hospital and the rest of the gang have lives and jobs. She's going to school next week, it's just for the morning and then she's going to Anna."

"And who's going to look after her while you're on a case?" Mosley asked with her arms crossed.

"That would be me, AED Mosley." Hetty said as she walked by them.

"Gran gran." Mae said as she ran to her office.

"I'm feeling like some camomile today." Hetty said as she walked towards her office.

"Kids can be a joy when they're not in the middle of a custody battle. I will keep my promise but you need to understand, my one kid's in the hospital and I can't be there for her. And the only thing that's keeping me from defying orders, is that little girl." Callen said as he walked past her.
