(Hello there! Bare with me; this is going to get a bit long. First, thank you to anyone still continuously showing interest in this cluster fuck I call a story. I'm grateful you took time out of your day to read it.
Second, when I introduced mother Lamae, I had her say, "turn some bandits nearby into husks." After some research, I learned that husks are a type of zombie, not a vampire. So instead, I should have put blood fiend, a feral kind of vampire that can be created when a vampire drains a mortal of all their blood.
Third, the website I draw my info from is called .net It's a fantastic site with a lot of information; you should check it out if you have time. Also, since the information about mortal-borne Bloodfiend is scarce, I've decided to make my own lore here, so I hope you enjoy it.
Mortal-borne Bloodfiend: a humanoid drained of all its blood by either a feral vampire or an overindulgent one. No matter its origin Mortal-borne Bloodfiend crave one thing, the warmth of life or warm blood in this case. Still, no matter how much they feed on other humanoids, the maddening hunger they feel will never cease because what it truly needs is to drain the blood of a vampire. Still, due to their psychotic state, they'll never know that truth unless they get lucky.
*The following day*
Nirus rises from her bed with a hearty yawn and dawn outstretch as she thinks to herself.
"I haven't had a rest like that in decades." "I guess master was right; great rest always follows outstanding achievements." Nirus thought, chuckling to herself as she rubbed the crust from her eyes.
Getting out from under her blanket, she lays eyes on Ancano, who lies sprawled across his with a mixture of drool-dried Magicka potion on the corner of his mouth. It makes Nirus reminisce on the first time she flooded her body with mana, and she can help but smile, thinking about how far she's come.
After making her bed, Nirus grabs a small pile of linens left outside their door with a small note atop it.
"Here are some towels for when you need to bathe." "Believe it or not, it dawned on me only as I prepared to rest that I hadn't shown you the bathing area." "It's our pride and joy! Before becoming Vigilants, the few of us in the forward group put all our Septims into constructing it." "It's located in the back; take as long as you need; If you need me or any other older Vigilants, we'll be making our rounds just ask one of the initiate to find us" Signed Carcette
"It's nice to see she was thinking about us even before resting." Nirus whispered to herself while grabbing the linens and bringing them into the room. "Hmmm, now what's the best way to reward my student who so diligently completed his master's difficult assignment? Ah, I know just the thing." Nirus said with a cheeky grin.
Nirus closes her eyes and begins to utter a neigh inaudible chant. Raising her hand and aiming at Ancano, the magick circle for illusion, magic flashes. A golden aura surrounds Ancano causing him to squirm for a moment before a delighted smile creeps into his face.
"Ugh! I care for you, Ancano truly, but you have a smile only a Daedra could love." Nirus said with a slightly disgusted look on her face; "time to go freshen up."
Nirus grabs her linens and digs in her bag, taking out a set of dark-studded leather armor. She looks at the chest piece patches from where the armor had been repaired stick out like a sore thumb; she lets out a relaxed sigh, then grabs the other pieces, her undergarments, and heads outside.
*Around half an hour later*
"I told you I'd make you regret what you did!" *gasp* "ugh, I was having such a pleasant dream, too." Ancano bemoaned, smacking his lips to the foreign taste of magicka potion and his own saliva.
With a pained stretch, Ancano rises from the bed to his feet, looking around the room as his squinted, encrusted eyes adjust to the morning light shining through the window above the desk.
"Great! On top of having a sore body, the potion dehydrated me!" Ancano complained, rubbing the cust from his eyes. "she has to have a canteen."
Ancano slowly hobbles his way over to Nirus's bag and begins rifling through it. He quickly becomes frustrated at all the clothing articles and trinkets he pushed aside in the back, constantly disrupting his view. Hence, he dumps the contents all across the floor. Once all the bag's contents fall out, he hears the satisfying thump of a leather canteen hitting wood. He grabs the canteen ignoring its weight, removes the cap, and begins to drink, but instead of the refreshing seven to eight gulps, he expects he's granted a sip so small it would infuriate rather than soothe or refresh.
"Gods dammit it all! Ancano cursed as she slammed the canteen on the ground with all the might he could muster". "How could I forget she finishes off her canteen before going to sleep"… "guess I'll have to do it myself."
Ancano makes his way to the door and walks out into the hall when his nostrils are assaulted by the smell of blood. He turns his head, and his eyes lock with a dying Vigilant. Their intestines are being ravenously consumed by the thin husk of a human with pale gray skin and sunken lifeless eyes. Ancano tries to take a step back into his room, taking advantage of the creature's blinding hunger, but the young vigilant miraculously still alive notices him, as a glint of hope shines in his eyes as they look to Ancano for help, but all he sees is a mixture of fear and disgust upon his would-be savior.
As the gravity of his situation sets in, the young Vigilant's face warps with dread as he reaches out his hand to Ancano, maybe in a last-ditch effort to appeal to him or perhaps to point the fiend in his direction. Whatever the reason, the young Vigilant sheds one final tear, breathes his last breath and goes limp, causing his arm to slap against the wood, breaking the fiend's trance as he locks eyes with Ancano.
Ancano and the fiend lock eyes for what seems like an eternity. Whether it was a conscious choice or unconscious, Ancano floods his legs with Magicka tearing some muscles in his calves and thighs but moving fast enough to dodge the fiend's initial attack and slams the door. With adrenaline pumping, Ancano begins to think just a bit more quickly; seeing his master's bag of armor shifted, he figures she can't be far. Taking in all the air his lungs can contain, Ancano Screams his master's name louder than he had ever screamed anything before.
The screech echoed throughout the hall catching Nirus' keen ears as she had just finished putting on the underlayer of her leather armor. she Decides to leave her armor behind and rushes into the Vigilant hall; immediately ahead spots the mangled remains of the young Vigilant and is sickened by the sight of it.
Getting her focus back on her student, she spots the lower half of the Bloodfiend attempting to break its way through the door to their room. Boosting her muscles like Ancano did, Nirus swiftly grabs the lower half of the Bloodfiend and throws it down the hall into the dining room. Using her enhanced strength, she completely shatters the door to their room, causing Ancano to let out a far more feminine scream than even he was aware he could produce.
"Ancano! Throw me my glass sword now!" Nirus commanded
Ancano reaches beside the desk, and although he struggles to pull it to himself without using his legs, he manages to get it to her just in time. The fiend hooks its claws into the floor to change its direction as it unknowingly launches itself in the pathway of Nirus's sheathed swing. The fiend's brittle ribs cracking rings out as it gets slammed into the wall, something else within its body breaking on impact.
"Ancano! Firebolt now! Give it everything you've got!" Nirus commanded
Ancano holds out his hand and begins to concentrate the veins in his hand, beginning to glow red-orange underneath his skin as a bolt of flame materializes in the center of his palm. He fires the bolt and hits the blood fiend in the chest directly, creating an explosion that destroys the wall behind it, letting in a rush of winter air.
"Master! What is the name of the gods? Was that!?" Ancano asked fervently
"I have no idea. You're looking pretty banged up; walk me through what happened while i patch you up" Nirus requested, rummaging through one of her bags.
"When I woke up, I was going to get some water when I saw that creature tearing into the boy…" "he was still alive before the creature set its eyes on me." Ancano said with a distant look. "When I tried running, it felt like I put too much power into the jump, and the floor broke underneath me."
"No sense in dwelling on it. Here, drink this Magicka potion while I heal your legs." Nirus said with a proud smile forming on her face. "I never imagined you'd be able to enhance your movements so early." "It took me at least a week to get used to forcing Magicka to spread through my body… I'm proud of you, Ancano."
"Um… Thanks master! that means a lot." Ancano said, his cheeks and ears turning slightly red at the compliment.
As Nirus begins to concentrate, a golden light envelops her hands. Just before the light becomes too blinding to look at, she places one hand on Ancano's legs and the other on his slightly singed hand.
"Ugh!" Ancano grunts as the light envelops his injuries.
"Don't fight it, Ancano! Let the healing magic do its job." Nirus said, trying to maintain her concentration.
Two more minutes pass before Nirus is done healing Ancano; once his legs are in working order, he hops up and starts doing some squats to see if they're genuinely healed. After finishing his little test, he looks at Nirus with a shaken but determined look.
"We need to check for survivors! This can't be the full extent of the attack." Nirus said sternly
"How many do you think are left alive?" Ancano inquired
"If we're quick, we might be able to save a few, but realistically no one will be left alive." she answered in a grim tone
Once they get their equipment ready, they run outside past the mutilated corpse of the Young Vigilant, but the outside greets them with a worse scene. The snow-blanketed lawn of the house of the Vigilant lies littered with the blood and corpses, most if not off of them being its own members as drained, sickly corpses feast on the carnage.
Nirus unsheathes her glass sword; magical carvings on both sides glow bright orange as the blade bursts into flame, catching the attention of three Bloodfiends as they lift their emaciated, blood-soaked faces and snarl animalistically.
"Ancano! dual cast fire bolt at the ground between the three that noticed us. The explosion should daze them long enough for me to kill two." Nirus commands, not taking her eyes off the blood fiends.
Ancano does as instructed and begins to chant the Daedric words for the spell; as he does, the veins in his arms glow once more, and as the spell conjures, the blots appear bigger and sharper. Ancano takes a fraction of a second to admire his creation before firing both bolts in the center of the three blood fiends.
Two manage to jump just in the nick of time away from the center of the explosion, lessening their damage, while another takes the full brunt, catching fire and attempting to douse the flames in the snow. The two that jumped away get slight burns, but that ends up being the least of their worries as Nirus charges in; in the blink of an eye, Nirus closes the distance between her and one of the singed blood fiends decapitating it in one mighty sweep.
The second singed blood fiend lunges at Nirus with all its might; having no time to counter-attack, Nirus holds up the edge of her blade to block, using her armored forearm to brace for the impact. Before the lunge lands, the blood fiend is struck by a bolt of lightning that travels from it through to the last remaining blood fiend, killing them on the spot.
"Excellent job thinking on your feet, Ancano!" Nirus complimented.
"As happy as I am to hear you say that, it's pretty hard to show it considering our surroundings." Ancano told Nirus grimly after looking over the gore-stained snow.
"It's far too late to save any of them, but these are only younger Vigilants. Where are Carcette and the older members?"
"I can see some tracks leading up a hill to the northwest; maybe they chased a bigger group of them up that way?" Ancano suggested
"If that's the case, then we had better hurry! Here take these!" Nirus Stated before tossing Ancano a Stamina potion and a Magicka regeneration potion.
While Sprinting to catch up to his master Ancano Chugs both potions gaging from the taste but soon feeling their exhilarating boost. Running by his master's side, they Crest the hill, and the sight is grimmer than last. Limbs, blood, and Viscera litter the ground but portray a far more desperate one-sided struggle, each dismemberment or disembowelment made to prolong the victims suffering. And at the center of it struggling to hold back the vicious strikes of hulking Elevn foot tall Batman hybrid, is Carcette, wounded, covered in dirt and blood that's more a mixture of others than her own. Nirus rushes in with Ancano not far behind her, but her charge doesn't go unnoticed by the Batman.
"It seems we have some unwelcome guests!?." "Shall I give them a taste of the terror your fellow worms Felt before their miserable end!?" The Batman queried
Carcette's eyes widened in panic at the question, but the look in her eye was all the incentive the bat creature needed as he turned his head and prepared to scream. Carcette quickly drops her mace and gets some distance; as she does, she manages to swiftly cast a ward spell on herself and the approaching Nirus just as a high-pitched screech rings out across the field. Unhindered by the scream Nirus continues her charge; Ancano, however, wasn't so lucky; just as he comes over the hill, The screech bursts his eardrums, causing him to fall to the ground; holding on to his ears, warm blood beginning to seep through his hands.
Nirus' attack lands, but the Batman blocks the attack with no effort as it looks down at Nirus with a chilling smile. Suddenly the Batman begins to sniff the air wildely before locking his eyes on Ancano who struggles to stand to his feet, he grips Nirus' blade and, with incredible strength, throws Nirus aside, making a b-line for Ancano. Nirus realizing she doesn't have the time to concentrate and casts a spell Screams at the top of her lungs
"Ancano! Flood your body with Magicka now!"
Ancano, too delirious to follow the command, tries to locate where his master's voice came from when he spots the hulking Batman charging at him on all fours with a look of frenzied hunger. a Fear Grips him, unlike anything he had ever known in his over two-hundred twenty years of life. As the Batman draws closer, Ancano's instincts command him to act as he holds out his hands in a style reminiscent of a certain prideful prince.
Using as much Magicka as his body can muster Ancano produces a forty-five foot in Diameter fireball and launches it at the Batman. Who going too fast to avoid the Attack speeds up and takes it head-on, causing a massive explosion that throws everyone a few meters back, Stunning them and causing their ears to ring.
Slowly recovering from the force of the explosion, Carcette feels a piercing pain in her left thigh. as her eyes readjust, she sees that one of the dead Vigilants has risen and bit into her leg. Panicking, she looks around for anything to kill the undead with. She spots a hefty-looking rock and proceeds to bash the undead's head in, all the while wincing at the sickening crunching sound its skull made on each impact.
"Dammit! this one already had fangs!?" Carcette Yelled aloud to no one in particular.
Carcette begins to feel around her waist for her satchel of potions. After tracing her waistline several times, she looks around her immediate surroundings and spots the satchel half buried in the snow. She tries to get up, but when met with the searing pain from her bite wound, she opts to crawl instead, slowly making her way to it.
"Finally! I can purge my body of this sickness." Carcette said before the sobering smell of failed potion solution. Assaults her nose, and the feeling of shattered potion bottles prick the hand she fondled the satchel with. Whether it was from the shock of realizing she had no way to cure her infection or the blood loss from her open wound Carcette faints face down in the snow.
"Ugh! by the divines, my head is killing me!" Nirus groaned, struggling to get to her feet and recover from the concussion she now has. "Where's my sword?" She wondered before swinging her arm sluggishly and noticing she was still holding on to it.
Nirus takes a deep breath, then gets down on her knees and places her face in the snow. The shock from the cold gives her some of her alertness back as she turns her attention to the smoke-filled epicenter of Ancano's massive attack. As the smoke begins to clear, she can spot the Batman still standing tall, but she notices that, unlike the minor cuts she inflicted during their brief skirmish, the burn scars won't heal. This gives her renewed drive as she pumps Magicka into her sword, causing it to burst into the flames and drawing the Batman's attention.
"Looks like you managed to survive. How fortunate for me, I was hoping to rip at least one of you knife ears in half before completing my mission." The Batman Professed with monstrous glee "How much will you be able to show me before your demise, I wonder?" he queried to no one, licking his lips in anticipation of the carnage.
They rush each other, one more driven by bloodlust than the other, but the desire to kill is all the same. Nirus plants her pivoting foot forward, and using as much power as her weakened body can muster, she swings the blade from her right side, feigning a wide Slash only to arc the swing upward. The Batman tries to catch her attack but falls for the feint as the searing edge cuts clean through his armor, leaving a long cauterized wound from the top of his left pectoral to the top of his left eye, blinding him in the process.
"Arrrgh! You filthy knife-eared whore!" The Batman curses, Hovering his hand over a portion of his new scar, not daring to touch it least he feel more pain. He Jumps backward to get out of Nirus' strike range; once at a safe distance he begins morphs until he's more animal than man. His body almost doubles in size as he croutches down, leg muscles bulging with energy.
A heavy dread washes over Nirus as; instantly the Batman disappeared from where he stood, leaving a plume of snow in his wake. Nirus tenses prepared to take an attack from all sides as she begins to frantically look around for her opponent. Suddenly from her left side she takes a massive hit that sends her tumbling through the snow, stopping when she hits a tree.
Nirus' consciousness beings fading in and out the Batman drawing close with each fade to black until he's right on top of her, completely consumed by his base urges he picks nirus up with by her right shoulder with one hand plunges his fangs deep into her neck staining the snow beneath them crimson. It takes everything she has not to scream from being bitten and even more so not to faint from actively being drained. Using her remaining strength Nirus lifts her left arm and jams her fingers through his eyes sockets The Batman lets out an agonized screech as blood and what's left of his eye balls ooze out. Pumping what's left of her mana into her fingers akin to when she demonstrated flesh magic to Ancano her fingers expand until the top of the Batman's head burst open spraying black blood and decayed brain matter everywhere. The last thing Nirus sees before fainting is a feminine figure reaching for her.
