Rein stood in the training grounds on air temple island. In one hand was a wooden sword and in the other was a bo staff. Tarmeia watched patiently, holding a wooden blade of her own. In the blink of an eye they clashed. Rein charged his normally aggressively oriented master, having his blade blocked. Raising an eye, she noted the odd weight his strike held that would make a normal person's arm go numb. When he pulled the blade back, he swung the bo staff across to keep his master at a distance. In response to his determination. She responded with powerful and fast paced strikes that came from form four, Ataru. Each time he moved to block her, he was met with yet another swing coming his way. In a split moment when she was pulling her blade back, he thrusted his bo staff at her, missing her as she backed up. Using his newly gained momentum, he used the staff to vault and close the distance, swinging his blade into hers. As she blocked it, she was not ready for his tail to thrust forward striking her in the midsection, causing her to stumble. Thinking he had a chance, he swung his blade, only to have his wrist struck by hers. Then his other wrist, his knees, and finally his head. "Ow." He rubbed his head as she flourished the wooden blade as if she were ready to sheath it.

"You're improving. You managed to land a strike on me, but it would have been nonfatal." Tarmeia praised while pointing out why she continued the lesson. "You still have much to learn, but your style leaves much to be desired. It's rough and a master of a dueling stance like Makashi would surely take advantage of it…Keep improving upon it. Take what you can from lessons and make it yours." She would smile behind the faceplate and hood she wore to keep out of the sun. Rein smiled hearing her praise, her guidance, and her critiques.

"Korra's gonna airbend! Korra's gonna airbend!" Their lesson was interrupted upon hearing Ikki clap, bounce, and cheer excitedly. Before them was the airbender gates. A series of wooden panels.

"What is that contraption?" Korra asked, clearly having never seen such a thing.

"A time honored tool that teaches the most fundamental aspect of airbending. Jinora, would you like to explain this exercise?" Tenzin asked his daughter, feeling proud of such an ancient device.

"The goal is to weave your way through the gates and make it to the other side without touching them." Jinora explained. It was simple, quick to the point, but missing something which made Rein raise an eye. There was no way that was all there was to it.

"Jinora forgot to say you have to make it through while the gates are spinning." Ikki added with a smile. Tenzin, taking a moment, would use his airbending to make the many gates spin around.

"The key is to be like the leaf. Flow with the movement of the gates. Jinora will demonstrate." Jinora ran into the gates. With many spiral movements, Rein watched, fascinated by such motions. "Airbending is all about spiral movements. When you meet resistance, you must be able to switch direction at a moment's notice." Tenzin explained as Jinora made it to the other side. Sending a gust of wind through the gates to keep them spinning, she did her part. Korra, as brash as she was in the south pole, would try to power her way through, getting every gate along the way making Rein wince. Tarmeia brought a hand to her temple, feeling glad she was not her padawan. Just like she started, she was spit out by the gates right where she came from. Getting back up she tried to power through yet again, meeting…similar results. Jinora shouted, "Don't force your way through!" Ikki followed up, "Dance. Dance like the wind." Meelo added, "Be the leaf." However, all that happened was her falling face first into the ground from whence she came. Tenzin would sigh realizing he had his work cut out for him.

"I would like to try." Rein offered, making Tenzin and Tarmeia raise an eye.

"Are you certain? This isn't a toy to be used whenever you're bored."

"Please give me a chance." Tenzin, who was apprehensive of letting a non-bender attempt this, would cave in. Korra finally sat up as Rein walked up to the gates. Jinora would smile seeing Rein wave to her from the otherside before blowing a gust of wind through the gates. Closing his eyes, he let not only the force be his guide, but the wind itself. Following Tenzin and the kids instructions he moved in, following the motion of the gates. Tarmeia, Korra, and even Tenzin watched with wide eyes as he flawlessly mimicked what heard, saw, and felt. With each spiral motion, Rein felt himself reaching the end, his tail twisting and curving around the gates to avoid touching them. Then, finally he reached the otherside, taking a deep breath before opening his eyes, being a little too close to Jinora's face. Blush crossed their cheeks as he fell back nearly bumping into the gates.

"Well I'll be." Tenzin exclaimed, wondering if this had anything to do with the force, or if Rein had this innate feeling that let him believe he could do this. Tarmeia looked at the gates, before attempting it herself. She had it down for a short while. However half way through, she was struck by one of the many gates. Seeing this proved that it wasn't the force that let Rein through it. "Where did you learn to move like that Rein? In all my years I have never once seen you pull off such movements."

"I…I don't know. I just had this feeling. I closed my eyes and felt the wind against my skin. I knew I had to be patient, as master Aasha and Tarmeia have been telling me since day one of my force training. But…something just felt…right about moving that way." Tenzin stroked his beard in thought while tarmeia contemplated this new revelation.

"Great. So even he's better at airbending than me. And he can't even bend!" Korra said, feeling awfully dejected by this whole situation.

"W-Well. If it helps you. I can give some pointers." Rein nervously rubbed his shoulder as they tried to lighten Korra's mood.

"Whatever." In a sour mood, Korra would walk off, leaving them alone. Rein looked away feeling as though there was now a growing distance between him and his best friend. Jinora, sensing the turmoil of feelings flowing through him, hugged him reassuringly.

That night, Rein stood by the beach looking out across the water. Alongside him, just sitting in the water, singing with its beautiful voice, was his Lapras. Affectionately she rubbed her cheek against his. She was an intelligent pokemon capable of understanding human speech without learning. Understanding when someone was angry, sad, or even happy was child's play for such a pokemon. Cyclizer also stood alongside him, munching on a plate of pokeblocks that Rein had given him. A shiny Eevee also ate from the plate. However, laid across his lap was a Ralts. Its normally green hair is fiery red. An unusual heat radiating off her. Gently patting their head, Rein could see them close their bright pink eyes to enjoy the affection. "You've made quite a few friends haven't you." Rein would turn their head slightly to see Tenzin. The elderly airbender took a seat beside him as Lapras happily sang. "She has a beautiful voice."

"Thanks…She's always been there when I'm feeling down…They all have." Rein reached into the air with a smile. His hand touched something that appeared to not be there. Putting out his other hand was met with a similar reaction. As if out of nowhere a blue and a red form appeared as if dropping a veil that was never there. Their invisibility vanishes revealing the eon duo. Latias and Latios. The two brightly colored pokemon looked at their trainer. Tenzin was initially taken aback by this. Then he heard a voice in his head. 'It's okay. Big brother and I won't hurt you.' His eyes widened with astonishment. The feminine voice that spoke to him came from nowhere. Yet there was only one place it could come from. "Sorry about that master Tenzin. Latias doesn't like asking for permission when using telepathy." 'Sorry.' Latias looked at the bender apologetically. Latios would make several noises at Latias in their own language. The two seemingly started to argue with one another. "H-Hey now you two, no arguing." Rein tried his best to get them to calm down. Tenzin looked down at them as they timidly tried speaking to the pokemon. The two that were arguing became quiet. Despite his timid approach to this, they listened and obeyed without a second thought.

"I wish it was that easy to get my kids to listen." Tenzin sighed as he too reached out, stroking Lapras. "About Korra earlier. You know she didn't mean what she said. She's just…irritated. The fact I'm here apologizing for her likely doesn't mean much compared to if Korra did so herself. Just…give her time to come around. You two have been friends for so long that losing you…I'd hate to imagine what she'll do." Tenzin spoke fearfully at the idea. Rein, who listened to his words, would only nod his head in response. It was true he was her only friend, but he didn't know how much that actually meant to her.

The next day this was tested with something she hated most. Meditating. Rein breathed calmly. His worries lessened as Korra scratched her behind in a less than ladylike manner. It didn't take long for him to be lost in meditation. Korra on the other hand. "I think I'm doing it wrong."

"There's nothing to do." Tenzin shot her down. "Let your mind and your spirit be free. For air is the element of freedom." She began to laugh at this remark. "Is something funny?"

"Yeah you're telling me to embrace freedom, but you won't even let me listen to the radio. And forget leaving this island." She retorted.

"Please Korra. Look at Rein. He's able to meditate peacefully." At this remark, she grew frustrated.

"Yeah well Rein has been meditating since he was eleven. It's part of his force trai-" Rein's breathing suddenly picked up, his hand clutching his chest. "Rein?" Korra asked worriedly. Rein was elsewhere. It was dark. Everything was blurry, enshrouded in a fog. Looking around, all he felt was fear as he watched hundreds upon thousands of people dying around him. Men with the same faces. A man in a black mask taking deep breaths with a red lightsaber. Something writhing with white and mottled gray tendrils. 'We will meet, little one. When we do, you will and the galaxy will know my wrath.' His breathing hitched as he ran and ran, helpless as to what's to come. However one vision led to the next. A gnarled tree stood before him. From its hollowed core, a spirit of red and black turned its gaze to him. 'So it's you who has a piece of my power. Intriguing. That is what that old fool wanted my power for. Do not be afraid. Come harmonic convergence, you will be mine. You will destroy the-' "REIN!" He was shaken violently back to the real world. Grasping his chest he took deep breaths, his eyes darting around at everyone around. "Rein. Are you okay? You looked like you were…"

"I…I saw things. Things I…" Rein tried explaining, fear gripping his reality. That was till a cold hand was placed on their shoulder.

"You had a vision of the future." Tarmeia stood over them, her piercing eyes looking down at them with remorse. "Whatever future you saw…It was not a good one."

"N-No. Not one of those…It was…like they knew I was there. Like they could not only see me, but knew they'd meet me." Tarmeia looked troubled by this revelation.

"Please Rein. You need to rest. You've worked hard these past few days and come a great distance in your training. It wouldn't hurt to take some time to yourself. Go see the city even…Think of it as master's orders." She lightly shoved him along. With no choice but to obey his master's orders, Rein left the group. Looking over at Tenzin and the others, she spoke calmly. "I…Need to report to Aasha. Visions in the force are not to be taken lightly and only she will know how to truly pull them apart. Can I trust all you two…four to look after him." She spoke of four people, though she clearly wasn't referring to Ikki and Meelo. Tenzin, seeing the urgency in her request, nodded his head.

"Pema and I will do our best to make his stay here the least stressful as we can." Feeling encouraged by his words, Tarmeia began to leave. Her eyes briefly looked at Korra who was worried by Rein's sudden fear. It was difficult not to chase after him…then again his sudden departure was enough to help her get out of meditation training.

That night, Rein stood by the water with just Lapras. His hand brushed the swirls along the side of her head. "I know Lapras…I haven't been this stressed since that time I fell beneath the water." His head rested alongside hers in thought before hearing someone coming their way. "Korra…You're being rather loud for someone trying to sneak out."

"That's…surprising. It's like you're able to sense me without looking now." Korra placed a hand on her hip. "Look I…I came to apologize. I know these past few days I've been a…little aggressive. Just know it's not your fault and well…" She rubbed the back of her neck.

"…You suck at apologizing. So are we going to that pro bending match or not?" He smiled at her. At first she was a tad bit frustrated. He said she sucked at apologizing. However her smile returned upon hearing the pro bending match. It didn't take long for him to get on Lapras with her. His Lapras soon took off across the water. "If you get in trouble, I'm going to deny ever giving you a ride out here."

"Oh my hero. Saving me from an evening of boredom while denying responsibility." Korra playfully poked fun at his statement before seeing the bending arena come in view. "Race you inside." She quickly jumped off Lapras and used her waterbending to propel her through the top window. With a groan, he knew he wasn't doing that. Standing atop his Lapras, he gave a soft kiss to their cheek. Using the force, he jumped up to the window, returning Lapras to her dive ball. "Ha. Beat you." Korra smirked as he climbed through the window.

"You cheated." Pouting, he dropped down next to her. Taking the moment, the two collected their bearings and began to explore, searching for their way to the stands. Though they came across the gym. Korra, who became fascinated and intrigued by it, made a detour there. "Korra I'm not sure we're supposed to…" Rein began to say when somebody found them.

"Hey. What are you two doing in my gym?" An old and grumpy looking man jumped the two. Rein, who was too busy hiding behind Korra, looked over at the white haired man.

"We were looking for the bathrooms." Korra tried covering for them, though this was a weak attempt at best.

"Oh I see what's going on. You know I'm sick and tired of you teens sneaking off to makeout."

"Makeout?" Korra's cheeks flushed red and so did Rein's up to his ears. "W-We weren't making out. W-We're just friends."

"Y-Yeah. We're um…" Rein nervously began to sweat, but secretly felt a tinge of pain at being called just friends. He would never admit it to Korra, out of fear of losing what they had.

"There you two are. I've been looking everywhere for you. It's alright Toza. They're with me." A pro bender walked in. He was slightly on the chubby side with black neatly kept hair and pale green eyes. Korra, seeing the opportunity, agreed. The grumpy man would blow it off before starting to bend some weights. Rein, who zoned out during the conversation, looked up at the two nervously. He kept behind Korra as Bolin gestured. "Right this way."

"Ah thank you sir." Korra smiled as they followed behind him. The group soon came across the pro-bender lockers on one side of the arena. "Wow." Korra's breath was quickly taken away by the view given by the area. "Unbelievable. This place is even more amazing than I imagined."

"Name's Bolin by the way." He smiled, introducing himself to the two.

"Korra."

"R-Rein." Rein would smile as Bolin was taken aside, likely being scolded by his teammate. Their teammate had the same black hair, though a little more forward than his. His eyes were a bright tangerine comparatively. With a gentle smile, Rein scanned the arena, before spotting a familiar face in a box seat. Asami was watching the matches, an excited smile on her face as the match began. Korra shook him, bringing him back to reality. "Y-Yes? What is it, Korra?"

"You okay? You've been zoning out this entire time." She smiled watching the match. The fire ferrets versus the golden temple tigerdillos.

"Yeah. Just…Thought I saw someone." Rein smiled watching the final round. It was one to one and Mako was the last person in the ring. Bobbing and weaving, weaving and bobbing, he dodged an onslaught of three elements. Fire, earth, water, it didn't matter. He moved gracefully as the opposing players couldn't seem to get a read on him. The three tired themselves out enough for Mako to begin the offensive. Swinging his fist, a fire ball struck the waterbenders block, sending him into the drink. Unleashing powerful swings of firebending, Mako made sure there was no room for them to retake the offensive. Sending a powerful burst of fire into the opposing firebender sent them flying into the post before flying over the edge. The earthbender, doing his best to take back the offensive, launched disk after disk into the fireballs. However after a burst launched him to the back, he lost sight of them. That was until Mako came through the dust launching an up close burst of flames into the man. "Wow. He's impressive…Bet you have a crush on them now don't you Korra." Rein teased.

Korra, who nervously looked at Rein, laughed a little. "Him? Pfft. Yeah…right." Korra would look down as Bolin came up cheering. They were one match away from qualifying in the championships.

"So what'da think Korra? Bolin's got some moves." He smiled already trying to get praise for his actions out there. Korra excitedly told him how amazing they were just as Mako and their waterbender returned arguing about doing more harm than good. Frustrated, the waterbender stormed out the room, leaving the group alone.

"You guys were incredible out there. Especially you mister hat trick."

"Oh you're still here." Mako noted with an unamused look on his face. He went to his locker in the same motion without much thought.

"Oh you're still a jerk." Korra noted, just as unamused. Bolin laughed with a smile at that burn. "Anyway. I've been immersed in bending my entire life, and I've never learned how to move like that. It's like there's a whole new style here. Think you can show me a few tricks?" Korra asked Bolin, while praising their work out there. Rein, pouted a tad. He didn't understand what the big deal of their bending style was compared to what he could do. That said, he also felt happy that Korra was eager to learn.

"Absolutely."

"Right now? Come on Bolin." Mako tried to reign in his brother's enthusiasm.

"Just ignore him. Yeah I can show you the basics. I'm just not sure how my earthbending would translate to your waterbending, but we'll figure it out." He smiled, oblivious to the fact Korra was the avatar. Rein covered his smile as he did his best not to laugh.

"Won't be a problem. I'm actually an earthbender." Korra proudly said, crossing her arms under her chest.

"I'm sorry. No no. I didn't mean to assume that I was just figuring. With your water tribe get up, that you're a water tribe gal."

"Nope you're right. I'm a waterbender. And a firebender." She proudfully said, smiling as Rein finally cracked, breaking down into snickering at how unaware and confused Bolin became. That was when Mako came to the realization.

"You're the avatar, and I'm an idiot."

"Both are true." She would smile as Bolin began to fanboy that THE avatar was in their lockers. Not long after this revelation, the four stood in the gym, Bolin asking to see what Korra had. Korra, determined to learn, would launch two disks, using the rigid, flatfooted, and often sturdy stance of earthbenders. The disks struck the net as he began to give out pointers.

"That was great. Good power. But in a real match you'd be a sitting turtle duck. Not so upright and flatfooted. Stay light on your toes. Right up to the moment you need to dig in and strike. Then." He launched two disks, demonstrating what he meant. Rein, who was also listening in, smiled a little at the two as Korra prepared to try again. Using what she learned, she quickly got the hang of what Bolin was teaching her. This earned a 'not bad' from Mako.

"What's it take to impress this guy?"

"What? I said 'not bad'." Mako defended himself before sighing. "You know what. It's getting late. I'm gonna turn in. Nice to meet you avatar Korra. See you upstairs bro."

"Upstairs? You guys live here?" Korra asked, surprised.

"Yep. In the attic. It's nothing fancy. But we got some great views." Bolin smiled as he described their living situation. "So. Back to bending. Why don't you throw that combo one more time." Doing as she was asked, she tossed two more disks at the net just for one to stop mid way.

"Hey!" She looked at Rein who whistled. His hand out using the force would pull away, dropping the disk. "Alright tough guy. Why don't you give it a try yourself." She grinned knowing he was a non bender and would just embarrass himself. With a sigh Rein got up walking over to them.

"Alright, I'll try. But if I look like a fool, it's your fault." He smiled before bouncing side to side. Staying light on his feet, he mimicked the moves Bolin and Korra did. Like he thought, nothing happened. "Oh look, nothing happened. Because I'm not a bender Korra. I can't do this." He swung his fist forward and a disk launched through the opening in the net into the wall. The two, shocked, stunned, and very much confused looked at the disk.

"Wow. Good power on this guy too. Never pegged you for an earthbender." Bolin praised. Rein, looking at his hand, then looked at him.

"I'm not. I was never a bender." Rein said confused before trying again. It worked, though was far less effective, only dropping the disks from their stacks. Looking at his hands once more, Rein couldn't shake his visions. He had all night to contemplate this surprising development in powers.

The next day, he was alone, meditating…well, watching Korra try the gates again. He watched as she tried, once more, to force her way through the gates. Wincing every time the gates smacked her across the face as Tenzin yelled to her to have patience. None of them were ready for when she exploded in a fit of anger, launching flames all around into the training device, destroying gate after gate of the two thousand year old historical treasure, as Tenzin put it. "What?! What is wrong with you!?" He exploded as well in a fit of anger, losing his patience with his oh so impatient student.

"There's nothing wrong with me! I've been practicing just like you taught me, but it isn't sinking in, okay! It hasn't clicked like you said it would!" Korra, in frustration, shouted at him.

"Korra, this isn't something you can force. If you would only listen to me."

"I have been! But you know what I think!? Maybe the problem isn't me! Maybe the reason I haven't learned airbending yet is because you're a terrible teacher!" She pointed at him and began to storm off.

"Korra. Korra, wait." Rein tried stopping her. "Maybe I could…"

"'You could' what?! Do it all over again and show that you're a better airbender than I ever will be?! You already have bending powers, why can't you just be happy with that?! Instead of making me look like a joke!" She shouted at Rein. Her hands squeezing into fists as Tenzin overheard the bending part.

"I…I only wanted to help you Korra." Rein would squeeze his own shoulder at how angry and hurtful she was suddenly being to them.

"If you want to help me, then stop trying to make me look like a joke! Stop trying to teach me how good you are at everything!" She returned to storming off to her room, leaving Rein devastated. The person he considered his closest friend had just turned her back on him, considering him as nothing more than a showoff. After comforting their father, Jinora walked over hugging him as well along with Ikki.

Not long after telling Rein and the others off, Korra was searching for them. He wasn't in his room, nor was he around his usual places. Walking by, she passed the Ple's. Seeing this as an opportunity, she called out to them. "Hey Lelah, Elina. Have you two seen Rein? I was looking to apologize to him." The Ple's looked at one another trying to figure out how to tell her. Doing rock, paper, scissors, they finally came to a decision of who gets to tell her. "What's wrong? Is it that hard to tell me where he is?"

Elina, who lost two out of three, sighed and approached Korra. "Rein went out on a date with someone. Some girl he ran into on day one." She puffed out her cheeks in frustration.

"He has no more playtime for us! It's not fair! We'll never give him up to her!" Lelah childishly whined and flailed her arms. Elina joined in with her out of simple frustration as well. Korra, who had originally planned to apologize to Rein, felt her world crashing down around her. Rein was on a date, didn't even tell her that he met someone, and was now seemingly avoiding her. Her hands balled into fists as her heart felt like someone took a knife to it. "Korra. Korra!" Snapping out of her stupor, Lelah stood in front of her. "They said they might not be back tonight, but they also might see the pro bending game later." It was at this moment, Korra felt a glimmer of hope. If they were seeing the pro bending match, then that meant they'd be able to meet there and she could apologize.

"Thank you two. Please cover for me later." She ran off with a bright smile as the Ple's looked at each other. Putting out their hands, they dueled each other to find out who was covering for Korra.

At Kwong's cuisine, Rein took a deep breath. Never once did he have to dress up, but already he could tell he hated it. He changed into an outfit he had found some time ago among his fathers things. Already he felt like the tie was constricting around his neck, his chest was in pain, and his tail was very much making him stand out. Nervous energy mixed with his anxiety as he was led to a table. "Hey Asami. Sorry for the short notice. I didn't know when you'd be free." Rein apologized as he sat. The raven haired woman was dressed in a rather lovely cheongsam dress with a split just above the cleavage. Brushing back her long wavy hair, she smiled at Rein before responding.

"No no. There's no need to apologize. I never told you I was a Sato or when I'd be free for the dinner date." She quite easily excused them while apologizing for her own issues. "I'm surprised you found something to wear on such short notice. I would have been more than happy to shop for some clothes for you."

"It's my fathers…Well, it was my fathers. He's gone now." Rein rubbed his shoulder nervously. "The spirits got him." Hearing this side of his story, Asami placed a hand on his arm sympathetically.

"I'm so sorry for your loss Rein. I lost someone as well when I was younger. My mother was killed during a break in by a firebender. Ever since dad has been giving me the best self defense teachers in the city to make sure I can handle myself…I noticed you haven't mentioned your mother."

"Well…I don't know what happened to her. She just…sort of vanished one day. The next day I woke up, I was all alone at the south pole." Rein rubbed his own shoulder. The brilliantly crafted watch on his left hand flashing through the tight clothes. Noticing her gaze, Rein placed a hand over it. "Sorry. Wish I knew how to take it off. No matter how hard I try it just won't budge."

"Oh no. It's no big deal. Was just curious about it. It's very well made."

"Yeah. My mother made it. She was a bit of an inventor. Didn't really get along with her mentor. That's what her messages tell me that is. And no it doesn't tell time." He smiled, pulling up his sleeve to reveal the large and strange white, gold, and silver watch device on his wrist. "I don't mess with it much unless I need to. Mom called it a…or the Archatrix." Taking a moment, he realized he had been talking about himself quite a bit. Deciding to change subjects, he spoke up. "S-So I saw you at the pro bending arena last night."

"Oh you saw that too? I'm a real pro bending fan. Maybe after dinner we can stop by the arena. I can even let you into my dads private box." She offered without second thought.

"You sure your dad won't get mad at me if I interrupt you two?"

"He won't be there tonight. No need to ask for permission if he never knows." She placed a hand on her hip. A slight deviousness behind that smile. With this in mind now, the two had their dinner, each excited for the match they were going to see tonight. That said, the meals served by the place left a great deal to be desired by Rein. Small portions for a gourmet fare. In all honesty, it was making him miss the water tribe cuisine or even Pema's cooking. She was no gourmet chef, but she at least had amazing vegetarian cuisine for her husband and kids.

Korra had entered the locker room, expecting to see Rein there, only to see the disappointed faces of Bolin and Mako. "I didn't miss your match did I? You guys look like you've lost already."

"We might as well have."

"Hasook's a no good no show." Mako added to Bolin's comment. The ref came in to warn them they only had two minutes left to find a replacement. "Well there goes our shot at the tournament and the winnings."

"Can't you ask one of those guy's to fill in?" Korra asked, not understanding the rules of pro bending yet.

"Nah. Rules say you can only compete on one team." Bolin clarified the rules for her.

"Well, then. How about me? I'm a top notch waterbender if I do say so myself." She crossed her arms, confidently offering her assistance.

"But. You're the avatar. Isn't that cheating?"

"It isn't cheating if I only do waterbending."

"No way. I'd rather forfeit than look like a fool out there." Mako interjected. He was very much against the idea of someone who barely knew the rules of pro bending.

"Wow. Thanks for the vote of confidence." Korra said sarcastically, glaring so slightly at him. Then the ref came back, asking if they were in or out. "We're in!" Korra excitedly exclaimed.

"We are?" Mako was very much confused by this.

"Yes." Bolin on the other hand was thrilled.

"Hey I didn't agree to this."

"You can thank me later." Korra smiled as she got into the gear. On their way out to the arena, she finally found Rein. Her eyes briefly widening seeing him alone in one of those balcony seats. He was there talking with Asami, seemingly happy with her. Squeezing her hands, she focused as best she could on the game. Watching the game, Rein noted how…oddly new the fire ferrets waterbender seemed. The entire first round was full of fouls or mistakes. Then the second round came…and he soon found out why. The waterbender used earthbending. Rein, now beside himself with worry and frustration, covered his face. It was only a matter of time before Tenzin found out and got here.

"Something wrong? You look pale?"

"Yeah…Because that's my friend Korra out there…The avatar." Hearing this, she leaned forward looking at the waterbender with sudden interest. However this interest was seemingly unfounded. After Korra was allowed to continue by the ref, things went downhill. Korra was new to pro bending and the other team noticed. Pouring their focus on the weakest link, or what they perceived as the weakest link. Not even a few minutes into the second match, she was knocked out the back. Rubbing his eyes, he knew he'd have to scold Korra. Round three on the other hand went no better. The three of them force Bolin and Mako into a corner while diverting their attention to Korra once more. Being pushed back to the edge by the combined might of the other benders, it felt like that was it for Korra.

Korra's eyes looked over at Rein who watched her worriedly from the stands. Remembering her teachings by Tenzin and Rein's help, she closed her eyes. Seeing her new movements, both Rein, and Renzin who scolded her for leaving the island minutes ago, watched with astonishment. She had begun to move like she was in the gates during airbending training. Each spiral motion was a miss. Every twist and turn of her body was a dodge of a disk, a burst of flame, or a whip of water. Rein covered his mouth, unable to hide his pride and excitement that Korra could do this now. Quickly the opposing team burnt out their energy, letting the entire fire ferrets team to go on the offensive. Systematically, one after the other, the opposing team was knocked from the arena. The team cheered, happily after their victory. Mako turned to the new avatar and began to compliment her work. "Korra. What can I say? You really came alive in that last round. The way you dodged those attacks. You are a natural."

"Thanks. But I can't take all the credit. Someone else taught me those moves." She smiled, referring to Tenzin, but also Rein who wanted to help teach her.

That evening, Rein was in his room with a sigh. Their silver eyes looking at the dress suit before taking it off. Beneath the fancy outfit was a simple wrapping around their chest. The already tightly constricted bandages that hid the modifications to their gender were beginning to tear. Taking a breath, Rein removed them revealing their large bust. Despite its size, all he felt was shame in their body. This was the body created by their father who saw him as nothing more than a lab experiment. A guinea pig to do whatever he pleased and change however they pleased. Their tail whipped back and forth in an aggressive manner just for him to slam his fist into the mirror he was looking into. Shattered glass tumbling to the floor around him. "Rein! You okay?!" His eyes shot open before quickly turning to the door. Trying to use the force, he was too late to lock it as Korra came in. Korra, who had never seen beneath their clothes, not even to see the bandages, saw almost everything on full display. Rein's cheeks, ears, and entire face became red. "R-Rein. You're? S-Since when? I thought." Korra, both embarrassed and curious, couldn't stop herself from questioning what she saw.

"G-Get OUT!" Using the force, Rein shoved Korra from the room, slamming the door shut behind her. Covering his face, Rein at that moment wanted to die. A secret they've kept for nearly as long as both of them were friends was just revealed. Korra, now outside the door, quietly muttered to herself, "Smooth move Korra." Now having to apologize for another thing.
