I do not own Harry Potter

Chapter Five

Adeline sighed as she stared down at the twins, the smell safely trapped in a bubble.

"What happened?" she asked.

"We thought we had it figured out," Fred sighed.

"Not sure where we went wrong," George nodded.

"Okay. Let's figure it out," Adeline nodded before fear coursed through her skin. "Harry."

Adeline took off running, the twins following after her. Adeline ran into her quarters.

"Remus!" she called, not finding him in the room.

George found the map open on the kitchen table, calling Adeline over. The three stared down at it, searching. A patronus appeared in front of Adeline, the doe staring at her.

"Shrieking shack," Severus' voice whispered. "Hurry."

Adeline ran to the window, turning into a bird and taking off. The twins watched for a moment before they began running, Draco and Ginny running after them when they yelled for them to. Adeline reached the shack and silenced her feet. She felt the bracelet buzz against her skin again and she pressed back, letting Harry know she was coming. Adeline walked quietly through the run down shack, making it up the stairs and finding Severus pointing his wand at Sirius and Remus.

Adeline walked into the room, wand raised, hand shaking as she stared at Remus.

"Adie," Remus said softly.

"No," she whispered out, moving so that she was in front of the kids, her eyes never leaving him.

"Adie. Listen, please. It's not what it looks like," Remus promised.

"You told me you didn't have the map," Adeline told him.

"Harry told me he saw someone on it and I wanted to figure out if he was wrong first. Please, Adie."

"Mum, he's Snuffles," Aster whispered from behind her.

Adeline's eyes fell to the floor, seeing the pawprints that turned to shoe prints. Her eyes went to Sirius and then back to Remus, anger taking over her features.

"Animagus?" Adeline asked him before raising her voice. "He's an animagus?! Are you fucking kidding me?!"

"Adie, listen," Remus tried.

"Albus was worried that she was the one helping Black," Severus spoke up and Adeline looked to Severus in shock, not even having realized that Albus had thought she would put Harry in danger. "He wanted me to keep an eye on her. I told him Adeline wouldn't be the traitor. I told him that, if anyone would fall for Black's lies, it would be you."

Ron whined from the bed and Adeline moved to him slowly. Severus nodded to her and she looked down at Ron. She waved her wand over his leg, wrapping it in bandages before snapping her fingers and causing Skele-Gro to appear in her palm, along with a small pain relief. Ron took both potions without complaint, sighing in relief when the pain disappeared.

Aster helped Ron to his feet and Adeline checked over the other kids before turning her attention back to Severus, Remus and Sirius.

"It's the rat, Adie," Sirius spoke up. "It's him."

Adeline stared at him in confusion before remembering Scabbers. She turned to Ron, seeing the rat in his hand.

"Who's the rat?" Adeline asked.

"Peter Pettigrew," Harry whispered, a look of realization on his face.

"Peter's dead," Adeline said, voice flat. "I buried what was left of him beside James and Lily."

"He's not," Remus spoke up again and Adeline's eyes narrowed. "You were right, Adie. You're always right."

Adeline chewed her lip for a moment before looking to Ron.

"May I?" Adeline asked, holding her hand out.

"What are you going to do to him?" Ron asked, sounding terrified.

"There's a simple spell. If he's an animagus, he'll turn human and I'll buy you an owl. If not, he'll be fine and I'll hand him right back."

"Adie, you can't be serious," Severus stated through grit teeth.

Ron handed Scabbers to Adeline and she pointed her wand at the rat.

"Perfectus totalus," she whispered, watching as the rat froze up.

She placed him on the floor, taking a step back and pointing her wand at him again.

"Amato Animo Animato Animagus," Adeline whispered, watching in horror as Peter Pettigrew appeared in front of her.

Peter stared up at her, frozen to the spot by Adeline's spell.

"Right," she sighed, getting over her shock. "Wobky, Tiffy, Kreacher."

The elves appeared as the twins, Ginny and Draco ran in.

"Wonderful. More children," Severus sighed, lowering his wand.

"Take them all to the cottage," Adeline sighed.

"What?" Harry and Aster demanded Adeline attention.

"Not right now!" Adeline yelled back before calming herself, the glass in the window cracking. "I'm sorry. Please, just go so this can get figured out by the adults. I will explain everything as soon as I understand it."

Aster and Harry both nodded, both never having heard her yell before. Tiffy took Harry and Aster's hands, popping away with them. Wobky took Ron and Hermione and Kreacher took Ginny and George, Fred staying behind for a moment. He stared down at the man before looking to Sirius Black.

"Is he innocent?" Fred asked Adeline.

"I'll get back to you on that," Adeline sighed and Tiffy disappeared with Fred. "Someone explain. Now."

Adeline sank onto the hospital bed, Poppy working over her unconscious, bleeding body. Severus, Sirius and Peter were in Albus' office, Severus explaining everything as quickly as possible with Peter bound in thick black ropes, Sirius having walked willingly beside Severus. Albus called for Alastor, having Severus explain again before they called for an emergency Wizengamot meeting.

Adeline woke the next day, groaning in pain. Sirius was beside her, holding her hand and asleep.

"Tiffy?" Adeline called and the elf appeared, waking Sirius as Poppy rushed over to her. "The kids?"

"Safe, mistress," Tiffy promised. "What happened, mistress?"

"Got into a fight with a werewolf," Adeline shrugged, looking to Poppy. "How bad is it?"

"You're alright," Poppy promised. "I can't remove the scars unfortunately. You won't turn though."

"Am I free to go?" Adeline asked.

"Yes," Poppy nodded.

"Are you?" Adeline asked Sirius.

"Yes," he nodded. "It's being announced in the papers today."

"Always making the front page," Adeline sighed. "Such a drama queen."

Sirius let out a quiet chuckle at that before helping her sit up. She let out a low breath, rubbing her chest and guessing that Remus had just turned back.

"To the cottage," Adeline said, taking Tiffy's hand.

Adeline stared down at the eight children in the blanket fort, smirking as Fred and George were somehow wrapped around each other, much like Aster and Harry were. Draco was holding Hermione's hand, the two facing each other even in sleep. Ron was snoring softly, half hanging off of the mattress that he'd claimed early in the night, his leg having fully healed just hours ago. Ginny was sitting up, head lolled back as she slept in a position that Adeline knew would result in a neck cramp.

Adeline turned to Sirius, the two just staring at one another for a long moment before Sirius followed Adeline down the hall and to a spare room. They sat beside one another on the bed, both remaining silent.

"So," Adeline finally broke the silence. "I guess I need a new dog."

Sirius let out a small chuckle which turned into both of them laughing loudly. They laid back on the bed, tears escaping them as their laughs soon turned to crying. They turned to stare at one another, not knowing what to say. Sirius moved first, taking Adeline's hand, carefully intertwining their fingers. She let out a slow breath as Sirius moved forward, kissing Adeline slowly. She kissed him back before her kisses became more urgent, drinking him in. Sirius let her take control, moving them further up the bed and holding her close. Clothes were tossed aside and the two moved together silently, a few gasps and moans escaping them every so often, but mostly being swallowed by the other ones mouth in harsh kisses.

Afterwards, they laid together, neither speaking as Sirius ran his fingers over Adeline's new scars. Adeline heard the kids moving around in the living room, starting to wake. She stood, stretching once she was sitting up. Sirius sat up behind her, kissing her shoulder gently. Adeline gave him a soft smile before waving her wand, causing her clothes to appear on her and some of Remus' clothes to appear on him, his Azkaban uniform disappearing. She waved her wand again and her appearance changed to something that didn't look like she'd just been rolling around in bed with someone.

"There's a bathroom there if you want to get cleaned up," she whispered to him. "Maybe fix your beard."

"Ha," Sirius rolled his eyes.

Adeline stood, leaving the room and watching as Harry and Aster started on breakfast, Hermione pouring tea for everyone. Fred saw her first, giving her a bright smile before slapping George's arm and pointing to her.

"Adie!" George cheered.

"Hi," Adeline smiled as the floo came to life, Severus coming through.

"Is he here?" Severus asked.

"Sirius? He's taking a shower," Adeline nodded.

"No. Remus," Severus shook his head.

"No," Adeline shook her head, rubbing her chest and dropping her voice to a whisper so the children couldn't hear them. "We locked him in the shack."

"I went to check on him. He isn't there," Severus shook his head and Adeline let out an annoyed groan.

"He's probably off somewhere feeling extremely guilty," she offered. "He might even be in the forest here somewhere."

"I'll go look," Severus nodded, leaving through the back door.

Aster and Harry ran over to her, wrapping her in a hug and knocking the air out of her. Adeline's chest burned from how sore it felt after all the healing it had done and she hissed slightly, the boys backing away to look her over.

"I'm fine," she told them, pulling them close again. "Got a little injury last night but I'm healed. Just a bit sore."

The boys held her tightly, both shaking. Adeline pulled them over to the couch, having them sit down on either side of her. She took a deep breath before explaining what had happened loud enough for all of the kids to hear.

"There was a traitor in the order during the war. Last night, Sirius told us that Peter had been made secret keeper at the last second and he would be the decoy. He'd thought that dad was the traitor before finding out that I was a spy. When James and Lily were killed, he knew that it was Peter. I tried to get him to tell me who the traitor was back then but he didn't want Peter to get wind that he was coming for him.

"Peter blew up the street and hit Sirius with a Confundus before cutting off his own finger. He transformed into a rat and disappeared before hiding out at the Weasley's. Sirius didn't receive a trial and was sent to Azkaban with the actual death eaters. He felt so much guilt over not having told me who the traitor was and was so heartbroken over James and Lily that he just stayed there.

"He saw the picture in the prophet with Ron holding Scabbers and he recognized Peter. He transformed into his animagus form and slipped between the bars of his cell. He came looking for Harry and I to make sure we were safe and, once we got to Hogwarts, he began hunting Peter. That's why Snuffles kept running off and why Scabbers went missing. He was trying to hide from Sirius."

"It's why dad never met Snuffles," Harry whispered. "He knew dad would recognize him."

"Had your dad told me that they had become animagus to begin with, we would have figured this all out a lot sooner," Adeline said, anger towards Remus swelling in her chest.

"Mum's getting angry," Aster warned Harry. "Watch for cracking glass."

"Shut it," Adeline rolled her eyes, pulling both boys closer.

Severus came back inside at some point, shaking his head at Adeline.

"Tiffy? Find Remus? Make sure he's breathing so I can yell at him," Adeline rolled her eyes.

"Yes, mistress," Tiffy nodded before popping away.

"Can we watch?" Fred and George asked.

"No," Adeline rolled her eyes again before standing. "Everyone eat some breakfast. You're going back to school once you're done."

The kids all groaned before Harry turned to Adeline.

"Can I meet him?"

"I wanna meet him," Aster said, eyes wide.

"Me, too," Draco spoke up.

"You can meet him later once he's had some pepper up potion. He spent twelve years in Azkaban. I'm sure the dementors did a number on him.," Adeline sighed. "I'll have to make him something."

Once the kids were done eating, she sent them with Wobky and Kreacher back to Hogwarts, letting out a sigh before heading down to her lab. Severus went through the floo, disappearing into Albus' office, prepared to tell him to cancel Adeline's and Remus' classes for the day when he found Remus sitting in the office with Albus already, resigning from his position.

"Adeline's looking for you," Severus told him.

"Tiffy told me," Remus nodded.

"Why are you resigning?"

"The position is jinxed," Remus shrugged.

"Are you going to tell Adeline?" Severus questioned.

"No," Remus shook his head.

"Are you going to go see her?"

"No."

"So, you're just going to disappear?"

Remus stayed quiet, not wanting to answer the question.

"Poppy said she isn't going to turn," Severus spoke up.

"She told me already."

"Coward."

"What?" Remus asked, looking at Severus now.

"I said you're a coward. One thing happens and you run away. I thought you'd grown out of that after the last time you left us but I guess I was wrong. At least say goodbye to your children."

"They aren't really mine," Remus shrugged.

"Tell that to them," Severus hissed out.

Remus sighed before nodding to Severus. Severus left the office, too angry to look at Remus anymore. Adeline's patronus showed up in the office a moment later, looking at Albus.

"I'm brewing a potion to help with long term effects of dementor exposure for Sirius. Can you cancel my class for today, please? I only had the one for the day and it's the seventh years. If not, send word and I'll figure something out."

Albus sent a patronus back and Adeline smiled at the Pheonix.

"Not a problem."

Adeline turned back to the potion, slowly adding in a phoenix tear before stirring in a bit of mandrake root. She worked for the next hour without stopping, not even noticing when Sirius walked in and sat in a stool nearby, just watching her work. He wondered if she knew that she mumbled to herself when she worked. Probably not. She would have stopped herself if she did.

Finally Adeline leaned away from the cauldron looking exhausted. Sirius stood, going to her side then. She smiled before waving her wand and having the potion scoop into vials, one of which flew directly to him.

"What is it?" he asked curiously.

"I made it," she shrugged. "It'll help with having been around dementors for so long."

"You created this?" he asked, staring at the vial.

"Yeah," she nodded. "I started working on it when Harry had such a negative reaction to the dementors. I made it stronger to help you."

Sirius took the potion, swallowing it down and passing the empty vial to Adeline. She gave him a soft smile before setting the vial down and writing down her notes. She waved her hand and a large stack of papers flew to her. She began filling out the papers and Sirius looked over her shoulder, finding it was patenting paperwork that was mostly filled out already. Once she finished, she called for Kreacher, having him deliver the paperwork and a few vials to the ministry for her.

Sirius wrapped his arms around Adeline the moment she stood straight again, hugging her to his chest. Adeline sighed, sinking into him a bit.

"So, I hear that you're been having a rough few weeks," Sirius whispered.

"You had a rough few years," Adeline said, wanting to avoid conversations about her as much as possible as she thought about everything she'd said to Snuffles over the summer.

"Well, you did say fifteen years," Sirius joked and Adeline held in a laugh, remembering the conversation from when they were kids.

"Well, I'm pretty sure it's only been fourteen," she shrugged, leaning back so she could smirk at him.

"A year of wooing."

"I think it's a year of healing, actually. One potion isn't going to make everything all better. I'm taking you to a mind healer the second I get the chance," Adeline told him.

"Do I have to?" Sirius asked, looking pained.

"Yes. Also, we're going to the ministry today. I have people to yell at before I track Remy down to yell at him," Adeline said, moving to the stairs, Sirius following behind.

"Can I wear something else?" he requested, looking down at the sweater that was a bit large on him.

"Of course," Adeline nodded. "Wobky?"

"Yes, mistress?"

"Send word to Catherine for me, please. We'll be in need of a few pairs of robes for Sirius and it needs to be discreet and as soon as possible."

"Yes, mistress."

"Can't believe you still have the same elves," Sirius smirked.

"What did you expect? That I'd stick their heads on a wall by now?" Adeline asked curiously.

"I'm surprised that you didn't free them," Sirius explained.

"They would be heartbroken if I did that," Adeline shook her head. "They love me and I love them."

"I know," Sirius' voice was soft as Wobky reappeared.

"Miss Catherine said to come by now before she opens mistress," Wobky nodded, holding out his hands.

Adeline and Sirius went along, landing in the back of Catherine's store. Adeline moved to the front, finding Catherine casting charms so no one could see inside the store. Adeline smiled as Catherine turned to her. The two women embraced for a moment before Catherine stepped back, looking over Sirius with hesitation.

"I'm guessing you haven't received the prophet yet?" Adeline asked.

"No," she shook her head.

"He's innocent," Adeline explained. "We're going to the ministry to retrieve his wand and so I can demand the ministry give a public apology, pay for his mind healer, and reimburse the money that they took for him as reparations when he was arrested."

"That sounds like a lot of yelling," Sirius sighed.

"Oh, it will be," Adeline smirked. "I'm actually looking forward to it. I should send word to Lucy so he and Sissy can be there, as well as Andy. Make a united front."

"Lucy, Sissy and Andy?" Sirius asked, looking nervous.

"They're there to support you," Adeline assured him. "Severus already sent word to Lucy and Sissy last night and I received a patronus from Andy before starting the potions this morning. They've all agreed to help in any way that they can."

"But Lucius and Narcissa were death eaters," Sirius frowned.

"No," Adeline shook her head. "I'll explain more later. Right now, we need to get you in something presentable."

"You as well," Catherine spoke up, looking over Adeline's robes. "I understand that you're a teacher, but do you need to dress so modestly?"

"I'd rather dress like this than have students staring at my legs like I got on the first day of classes," Adeline smirked.

"Well, I'm guessing you have the day off today," Catherine smirked. "Both of you come along. I'll need measurements first."

Adeline smirked, sliding her black robes down her arms and setting them aside so that Catherine could begin. Sirius took the sweater off, leaving him in a muggle shirt and jeans as Catherine began. An hour later, Adeline and Sirius were dressed properly. Adeline was in a black skirt that reached her knees and a black and white patterned shirt with sleeves that reached her elbows, black heels with gold accents, Catherine glaring at the other bits of jewelry that Adeline refused to remove. Sirius was fixing the cuffs on his black suit jacket, a white button up under it with black slacks and black dress shoes, gold accents on his shoes and gold cuff links on display.

Adeline sent a patronus to Sissy and Andy as Sirius had been being measured, telling them what to wear and telling them to come to Catherine if they needed something appropriate. Wobky appeared with Andy, Ted, and Tonks at the same time that Dobby appeared with Lucius and Sissy. Adeline smirked as Andy and Sissy gave one another soft smiles, taking each other's hands before approaching Adeline. Sissy saw Sirius first as he stood back, not sure what to do with himself.

"Sirius," Sissy's voice was a whispered as she looked him over.

"You need a haircut," Andy smirked, stepping forward as Catherine began measuring the men. "Hold still. I'd hate to nick you on your first day of freedom."

"Wonderful to see you again, Sirius," Ted smiled at the man. "Sorry it wasn't sooner."

"Yes, well, I was a mass murderer and traitor until last night," Sirius shrugged before leaning down a bit so Andy could reach him.

Adeline turned to Tonks, giving her a soft smile before holding her arms up. Tonks moved to her quickly, hugging her tightly.

"I missed you," Tonks complained.

"I know. I'm sorry. I took the boys into hiding over the summer," Adeline explained.

"I understand," Tonks nodded before stepping out of the hug and looking Adeline over. "United front, right?"

Adeline smirked as Tonks hair changed, matching Andy's hair perfectly as her eyes turned they're natural grey.

"We're missing a few people," Lucius noted as a jacket was slid over his arms by Catherine. "Where are the children, Severus and Remus?"

"Remus has something to take care of today that is time sensitive, unfortunately," Adeline sighed. "I didn't want to pull the kids out of school and Severus has a full schedule today. We'll figure something out over the summer, I'm sure."

"Public outings," Sirius sighed. "Lovely. I definitely missed those."

Adeline rolled her eyes before looking over to Sirius again.

"Oh," she whispered out.

Andy had trimmed Sirius' hair and beard much better than he had that morning. She'd done a bit of magic and made his hair look healthy again as well, his hair seeming more full and wavey. He smirked to Adeline, holding his arms out.

"How do I look?"

"Much better," she smiled, turning to Andy. "You're a miracle worker. He was a right mess when I found him last night."

"When you found me?" Sirius asked, brow raised.

"Found, almost killed. Technicalities," Adeline waved her hand as Sissy approached her, dressed in a similar manner to her now. "Oh, I don't like that look."

"Now, Adie, I know you haven't used cosmetic spells in years so I'll do this for you," Sissy smirked, tapping Adeline's head before she could even try running.

"I don't like you," Adeline glared, feeling her hair changing and makeup being applied to her face.

"There's that Black attitude," Sissy smirked. "Keep it going. I'm sure you and Lucius are about to overthrow the minister in just a few minutes."

An owl arrived with the prophet, announcing Sirius' innocence as Catherine turned her attention to Andy and Tonks. Adeline paid the owl and read through the paper, rolling her eyes as the picture of Sirius being dragged to Azkaban was still on display.

'Sirius Black Innocent! Peter Pettigrew Alive!' the title read. Adeline read through the article, finding no mention of the children being involved but Severus' and Albus' names listed as the people who'd brought in Sirius and Peter, hers and Remus' names being mentioned as people who had helped uncover the truth. Adeline could feel people reading over her shoulder so she moved the paper out a bit further, giving every one a better view of the paper.

"So what actually happened?" Sissy asked once she'd finished reading.

Adeline passed the paper to Catherine so she could read it, smirking when Catherine stared at Adeline instead, waiting for the full story.

"Harry and Severus both got word to me that Harry was in danger so I flew to the Shrieking Shack as per Sev's patronus. I walk in, get to the second story, and find Severus pointing his wand at Remus and Sirius as Ron is on a mattress bleeding and Hermione, Harry, and Aster are standing around him. I fixed Ron's legs and Remus informed me that there were a few illegal animagus in the room.

"Peter Pettigrew had been hiding as a pet rat for twelve years. Ron Weasley's pet rat, who was in his hand. Sirius, as it turns out, was the dog Harry and I had adopted over the summer."

"You're Snuffles?" Sissy asked, looking to Sirius in shock.

"Name sounds strange when you say it," Sirius fidgeted a bit.

"Not very proper," Adeline smirked before continuing. "I turned Peter human again and sent all of the kids to the cottage, Draco, Ginny and the twins included since they decided to show up as well."

"How'd they know where you were?" Andy asked.

"Fred and George were with me when I got the patronus from Severus. They grabbed Draco and Ginny on the way for back up instead of an adult," Adeline sighed, reminding herself not to rub her face in frustration. "I questioned Peter and he freely admitted to everything. He was the traitor in the order and had given up the location of Dorcas, Marlene, James, Lily, and Mattheo."

Lucius hand went to Adeline's shoulder at the sound of Mattheo's name. She gave him a soft smile before continuing.

"I got hit by the whomping willow on the way out of a secret tunnel below it and ended up in the hospital wing. Severus delivered Peter and Sirius to Albus Dumbledore. You'll have to ask Severus the rest."

"Albus called an emergency meeting at the ministry and Peter and I were given a trial. Peter admitted to everything. Said he did it for Adie so I'm sure that'll be brought up today," Sirius offered. "Albus told the Wizengamot that Peter thought Adeline was on the side of Voldemort so anything he said about her was untrue."

"I'm sure that helped," Adeline nodded. "I need to send him a message."

Adeline waved her wand and whispered to her patronus for a moment before it disappeared. She looked around at everyone, noting that they were all matching in their black and white with gold clothes. Black robes were passed around as well. Adeline smirked as she slid the robes over her arms, buttoning the robes at her neck before looking to Catherine.

"Thank you, Catherine," Adeline gave her a grateful look, taking her hand.

"Anytime," Catherine smiled, squeezing Adeline's hand.

Adeline handed more Galleons over than necessary and Catherine tried to argue but Adeline just gave her a look. Tiffy appeared with breakfast for everyone, Catherine included. They all ate before Adeline stood and the rest of the family followed the lead of Lady Black as they walked onto the now busy street of Diagon Alley. Adeline could hear people talking about the Prophet and smirked. She put her Slytherin mask on and raised her head high. Sirius stood to Adeline's left, not really sure what to do with himself.

Adeline gave Sirius a nod and his mask fell into place. Adeline moved forward, everyone following behind her with the heads high and shoulders back, looking every bit like the family that they were meant to be. The crowd parted as they walked by, giving plenty of space to watch. They walked through the Leaky Cauldron and into muggle London. When they reached the ministry, Adeline smirked, seeing witches and wizards turning to stare at them as they walked inside the building.

Once inside, Adeline could see cameras coming out, pictures of the family being snapped as they moved towards the minister's office. Adeline gave Lorna a nod and she smirked, watching as the Blacks moved together. They reached Fudge's office, moving pass his secretary as if she weren't even there, before Adeline knocked on his door.

Fudge opened the door, fully ready to argue with his assistant when he came face-to-face with Adeline instead.

"Minister. I believe we have a few things to discuss. I would like Scrimgeour to join us. Now."

Adeline moved pass the minister, walking into his office. Tonks and Sirius came in next, followed by Andy and Ted before Lucius and Sissy came through. Adeline nodded at the order and Lucius smirked, having been the one to place everyone before they'd stepped out of Catherine's shop.

Fudge called for Scrimgeour immediately, staring back and forth between Adeline and Lucius with wide eyes. Rufus stepped into the office and closed the door, staring around at the family and refusing to be intimidated.

"Lady Black. How may I be of service?" Fudge asked, shaking a bit.

Rufus rolled his eyes.

"Well, I saw the paper this morning and was rather unimpressed," Adeline began.

"Unimpressed with Sirius Black being announced innocent?" Rufus interrupted.

"I will remind you, Rufus, that I am the Lady of two ancient and noble houses and you will treat me with the respect that I deserve," Adeline's voice was hard, reminding her a bit of Walburga with the way she spoke. "You may sit."

Rufus and Cornelius moved to their chairs and Adeline nodded to the others. Sirius made himself comfortable on a couch, Andy, Tonks and Sissy sitting beside him. Ted stood behind Andy and Lucius went to Adeline's side, the two people with the most power in the family representing them.

"As I was saying, I was unimpressed. The photo used made it seem as if he were still a criminal and we wouldn't want people getting the wrong impression now would we?" Adeline asked Fudge, voice still dripping with venom.

"Of course not, Lady Black," Fudge shook his head.

"There was also no public apology made in the paper or in person to Sirius for his false, not to mention illegal, imprisonment."

"Illegal?" Rufus spoke up again, anger clear on his face. "How dare you."

"Speak out of place again and I will have you stripped of your title as head auror," Adeline raised her voice so she could be heard over Rufus. "Don't think that I can't, either. Between Lucius and I, we hold five Wizengamot votes and we have connections with the other members of the Wizengamot. I can easily make sure the vote is unanimous."

Rufus closed his mouth, glaring at Adeline and unwilling to defend himself, knowing she was right.

"Reparations need to be paid, as well as a mind healer, a healer, and a potioneer. Sirius will need a healer watching his health, a mind healer to speak to about the exposure to dementors, and a potioneer willing to make all of his potions that he'll be in need of. Nutrient potions and the such," Adeline told Fudge.

"I'm sure he can find a potioneer close to home," Fudge said, giving her a look.

"Shafiq potions happens to make a wide variety of potions, including one that helps with exposure to dementors. I'm sure you received my patent this morning for said potion."

"I did," Fudge nodded. "Signed it half an hour ago."

"Then you saw the price for making it. Rare and expensive ingredients such as Pheonix tears and unicorn hair."

"May I ask the reparation amount?" Rufus questioned, his voice calmer than he was.

"Well, let me do a bit of math. Sirius would have earned 315,000 galleons a year from the Black family. The ministry took half of that for the past twelve years but I'll round down to 157,000 galleons. So, over twelve years, that's 1,884,000 galleons. Plus, there's the pay he was receiving as an auror at 25,000 galleons a year at twelve years 300,000 for missed pay. So 2,184,000 galleons in total."

"You just did that all in your head?" Rufus asked, eyes darkening.

"Reggie like arithmancy and I taught it for two years during the war," Adeline smirked. "I'm good with numbers. So, 2,184,000 galleons plus a mind healer, family healer, and potioneer bills. Unless, of course, the ministry took more than half. I should have stopped at Gringotts on the way here. Maybe I should add it to my to-do list for the day…"

"No!" Fudge yelled, standing and looking panicked. "I mean, no need. It was the half. 2,184,000 is owed to Sirius Black and we will foot the bill for medical expenses."

"Wonderful," Adeline smirked, snapping her fingers and causing a contract to appear in her hands, along with a receipt for the potion she had made that morning. "For you."

Once Cornelius and Sirius had signed the contract, Rufus signed as officiant and Adeline and Lucius signed as witnesses. Wobky appeared, taking the contract to be delivered to the correct channels, copies appearing for everyone who had signed. A check was written for Shafiq Potions and another for Sirius Black, both taken to Gringotts by Kreacher immediately.

"Anything else?" Cornelius questioned.

"The public apology," Adeline raised her brow.

"Yes, yes," Cornelius stood. "I'll call a press conference at once."

"Wonderful," Adeline smirked.

Rufus swept pass Adeline, leaving now that he was no longer needed. Cornelius had the Blacks follow him through the ministry, flying letters being delivered to the press and everyone else who was needed for attendance. They were led to a private room, Cornelius rushing out when Adeline gave him an annoyed stare.

"Well that was much less yelling than I wanted," Adeline pouted, mask falling now that they were all alone.

"How much did he truly take from the Black vaults?" Lucius sighed, already knowing he wouldn't like the answer.

"He thinks seventy percent," Adeline smirked.

"How much did he get?"

"Maybe an eighth," Adeline shrugged. "Barely missed it. The Black money went through mine, Andy's, and Sissy's vaults and trickled to the kids inheritance before it reached the Black vaults. I'll have to visit Silverblade once we're done here."

"Sneaky snake," Sirius smirked.

"Of course," Adeline smirked back. "Did you really think I would let someone else get their hands on the Black fortune? Speaking of Black money, Andy you have a vault at Gringotts as well. Allowances that you should have received through the years and all that jazz. There's one for Tonks, as well."

"What?" Andy asked, looking shocked.

"Gringotts tried writing to you. I just received notice this morning that they hadn't heard from you. Here is your key and a summary," Adeline passed the sealed envelopes over to her without a thought before turning as the doors opened and Fudge reappeared. "Ready for us?"

"Yes," Cornelius nodded.

"Brilliant," Adeline's smile seemed too sweet as she left the room, everyone following along behind again.

Everyone stood behind Sirius as he was given his formal public apology and his wand, cameras flashing and reminding Adeline of when she was a child in the process. The family left, heading to muggle London for lunch. She sighed as they were sat in the expensive restaurant, feet hurting a bit as she'd forgotten cushioning charms. She kicked her heels off, leaving them under the table until it was time to leave. Lucius paid the bill, surprising Andy and Sirius as he used muggle pounds to pay and leave a generous tip.

"When do I get to see Harry again?" Sirius asked as they all stood to leave, waiting as Adeline slipped her heels back on.

"Tonight," Adeline stated. "I'm dragging you to the castle."

"Making sure I don't run off again?" he smirked.

"I'm actually a bit worried about if the dementors have been called off at the moment to be honest with you," Adeline sighed. "We can floo to my office from the cottage. I need to fix the wards before we go though. Make sure to include everyone here."

"Ah," Sirius nodded, looking uneasy.

"They don't know where it is," Adeline promised, voice low. "I'm only doing it in case there's an emergency in the future."

"Okay," Sirius let out a relieved breath.

"Tea Saturday?" Sissy asked, going to Adeline's side.

"Whole family?" Adeline tilted her head. "Make it a dinner? I can send Tiffy to help Dobby."

"Works for me," Sissy nodded. "I'll have Lucius fix the wards for everyone tonight."

"I'll see you then," Adeline smiled.

"Thank you, Adie," Sissy whispered and Adeline gave her a small nod of acceptance.

Everyone reached the apparition point and left, Adeline taking Sirius to the cottage. She moved outside, Sirius following after her and watching as she changed the wards. Once she was done they walked through the floo into hers and Remus' quarters.

"Remy!" she called out, waiting before a frown appeared on her face. "He doesn't have a class right now."

She walked to their room, Sirius taking a seat on the couch and waiting. Adeline stared into the room, eyes wide as she noticed how empty Remus' nightstand was. She rushed to the dresser and then the closet, finding all of his belongings gone. Adeline ran out of the room, rushing through Remus' office door and finding that empty as well. Sirius ran after her, confusion clear on his face.

Adeline moved back to the floo, calling for Albus' office and stepping through. Albus gave her a sad look once she stepped out, Sirius just a moment behind her.

"What did he do?" Adeline sighed.

"He resigned," Albus explained. "He felt too guilty after hurting you. Left this morning."

"Do you know if he spoke to Harry and Aster before leaving?" Adeline asked, voice quiet as her chest ached.

"I do not know. Severus told him to."

"Severus knows?"

"He walked in as Remus was turning in his resignation. Called him a coward."

Adeline nodded, taking a few deep breathes.

"Are the boys in potions right now?"

"Yes."

"Sirius, can you go back to my office, please?"

"Sure," Sirius nodded, stepping through the floo without a fight.

"I expected him to argue," Albus said, eyes wide.

"Dementors took a bit of the fight out of him. He'll be back to arguing with me in no time, I'm sure," Adeline explained before making eye contact with Phineas Black. "Hello."

"Lady Black," Phineas bowed his head slightly. "Thank you for taking care of Sirius."

"No need," Adeline smiled. "All of the Blacks are my responsibility, after all."

"That they are," Phineas nodded. "I hope that you are able to bring the Black family to a better outcome than I feared."

"I plan to," she smiled. "I'll keep you updated."

"Thank you. I appreciate that."

Adeline nodded to Albus before leaving his office, taking the stairs down to the hall. She made her way to the dungeons, the few students milling about giving her curious looks as she went, whispering to one another in the process. Adeline knocked on the potions classroom door, entering when Severus called for her to. She stepped inside, giving him a soft smile before nodding to the students and moving to Severus' desk, sitting on top of it and crossing her legs.

A few of the students stared at her legs and she rolled her eyes, only then remembering how she was dressed. Severus smirked, rolling his eyes before putting a mask on and yelling at the Slytherin third years to pay better attention to their potions, slapping Ron upside the head as he passed him with a notebook.

Ron's face turned as red as his hair as he turned back to his and Harry's potion, Harry giving him a glare. Adeline bit her lip to keep from laughing before remembering why she was there. Aster and Harry both caught her eye and she nodded to them, telling them without speaking to stay after class. Once the bell rang, Severus shooed the students that were lingering about out the door before closing it and setting up privacy charms. Adeline sighed before hopping off of the desk and facing her boys.

"Have either of you heard from you dad today?" she asked, voice soft.

They both shook their heads, looking worried.

"I was worried about that," she sighed as Severus let out a frustrated growl.

"Is he alright?" Aster asked, chewing his lip.

"Physically, he's fine," Adeline assured him. "Something happened after you left. You both know about your dad's condition."

"Hermione announced it to Ron last night, as well," Harry rubbed the back of his neck as James used to when nervous. "She probably told Draco as well."

"Brilliant," Adeline sighed, thinking of how Lucius and Sissy were going to react. "Well, after you were sent off, we made our way back to the school. Your dad was in such a hurry to get to the two of you that he forgot to take his potions."

"What happened?" Aster asked, eyes wide in fear.

"He tried making a swipe at Severus. I jumped in the way and got a scratch for it. I'm not going to turn but I'll probably be a bit moody around the full moon. Sorry in advance. He resigned this morning from the defense position and his belongings are gone from our quarters," Adeline explained. "He feels guilty for hurting me. Tiffy is checking on him now. I just returned to the school and discovered he was gone."

"Where were you?" Harry asked.

"Ministry. I was making sure everything with Sirius was taken care of. As Lady Black, he's my responsibility, so I needed to make sure he was going to be taken care of by healers, given an apology, and reimbursed for the years in Azkaban."

"Oh," Aster nodded, understanding.

Harry still looked a bit confused and Adeline made a mental note to go over politics with Harry a bit more over the summer.

"Will he come back?" Harry asked, voice quiet.

"I'll drag him back if I have to," Adeline promised. "Don't worry. I'll deal with your dad. In the meantime, Sirius is in our quarters. Dinner tonight?"

Both boys nodded, looking rather put out by the news of Remus but excited about dinner with Sirius. Adeline sent them both back to their friends, sighing as she rubbed her face, smudging her makeup in the process. Severus waved his wand, fixing her makeup before giving her a sympathetic look.

"I didn't even get to yell at him for not telling me the kids were in danger," Adeline pouted, causing Severus to laugh loudly. "Keep laughing. I'll send Sirius down here to blow up a potion."

"You would never disrespect a students potion that way," Severus smirked.

"True," she sighed. "Let's go to the kitchens. I need hot cocoa."

Severus offered Adeline his arm and the two headed out of the dungeons and towards the kitchens, students staring at Adeline as they went.

"Is it the outfit?" Adeline grumbled.

"I think it's the Prophet," Severus offered. "The name doesn't help."

"I should have changed it when Reggie died," Adeline sighed.

"You get away with more this way. Speaking of, should I expect to see you on the front page tomorrow?" Severus asked.

"Oh, yes," Adeline smirked. "The entire Black family outside of the children will be splashed across the front page. Andy even showed up."

"I'm sure that went over well."

"Well, Sissy and Andy write and I typically see Tonks for lunch every summer. Sirius seemed wary of Lucius but everything else went well."

"We're you all dressed like this?"

"Basically," Adeline nodded as she tickled the pear. "Such a strange door."

"Helga Hufflepuff probably did it."

"Probably," Adeline nodded as they walked into the kitchens.

Adeline moved around, making them hot cocoa before Severus helped her onto the counter and she kicked her heels off. Severus grabbed a few cookies from a passing tray and Adeline thought of Clary and Thomas.

"How's Thomas doing?" Adeline asked curiously.

"Well," Severus nodded. "Poppy says he shows the same promise that Mattheo did."

"I expect nothing less," Adeline smiled softly. "He has a strong core. Used to stutter a lot as a child."

"Poppy said he almost exhausted himself working on you. He was still shaking an hour ago."

"Should I send an energy potion along?"

"I asked Wobky to already. Thomas sent his thanks your way."

"Thank you," Adeline said, voice soft.

Severus leaned into Adeline a bit, providing her a bit of comfort.

"Have you heard about next year?"

"Unfortunately," Adeline grumbled. "If one of the kids ends up getting dragged into it, I'm going to turn into the dark witch every one feared I would become when we were younger. Tom Riddle who?"

Severus let out a chuckle. Once the two were done, Severus helped Adeline down, handing her the discarded heels. She carried them as she walked to the sixth floor, walking into her classroom and letting out a sigh. She waved her wand, setting up for the study session that she had agreed to host that night for the fifth years. Sirius came out of her office, sitting behind her desk as she waited for students to arrive, the twins running in first and giving her bright smiles.

"Fred, George, I want to introduce you to someone. This is Padfoot. Sirius, meet Gred and Feorge. I think you three will get along very well."

Fred and George were staring at Sirius with a bit of hero worship in their eyes. Adeline smirked as she stared at the trio before more students began packing in. A few froze when they saw Sirius, seeming a bit worried about his presence before their friends pushed them forward, further into the room. Adeline gave soft smiles to each of the students, waiting until all of the students who had signed up were in the room before starting.

Fred and George grabbed chairs and set them in front of the room, not caring about desks as they sat up and stared at Adeline with matching smirks. Adeline rolled her eyes, giving them pointed looks before they moved to a desk, both grumbling a bit in the process.

Adeline asked defense questions for the next hour, giving each student a worksheet to go over during the next nights tutoring session followed by practicing spells that would be on their OWL exams the following week. Adeline dismissed the students, sending them to dinner. Fred and George stuck around, discussing the dungbombs a bit before Aster and Harry showed up. The twins yelled their goodbyes before running out the door, probably heading to the kitchen rather than the Great Hall so that they could hide out in the common room while everyone else in the castle was absent.

"Wobky? Can you make sure the twins actually eat something tonight, please?" Adeline asked out loud, hearing a pop from her office that signaled Wobky following the twins. "Alright. Inside we go."

Aster and Harry began asking Sirius any and every question they could think of as Adeline began moving around the kitchen, finishing the dinner that Wobky had started. Sirius moved around the kitchen a bit with her, helping in any way he could, surprising Adeline with how much he actually knew how to do.

"What was mum like in school?" Aster asked.

"Terrifying."

"What about dad?" asked Harry.

"Apparently sneaky."

"Did mum beat anyone up?"

"All the time."

"Did you ever get detention?"

"Also all the time."

"Mum said you used to pull pranks. What was your favorite one?"

"Jamie and I once covered everyone in glitter and made them cough up butterflies."

"My father helped?"

"It was his idea. I helped him fix it so no one choked on the butterflies."

"Did that happen?"

"It did once."

"How'd you make the map?"

"It took a year and a half with lots of charms work."

"Will Kreacher listen to you over mum?"

"Doubt it," Sirius snorted.

"Alright, everyone calm down. Time to eat," Adeline smirked, waving her wand and causing soup bowls and bread to float to the table.

Aster began buttering bread as Harry grabbed the ladle, pouring portions of soup into each of the bowls. Adeline placed napkins and spoons on the table for everyone and Sirius just watched, not really sure how to help.

"Sit," Adeline smirked. "You're technically the guest. You don't need to help."

"Feels a bit weird," Sirius admitted.

"It can feel weird from a chair. Go."

Sirius smirked before taking the seat Adeline pointed at.

"Good boy," she smirked, patting his head before heading to her lab.

"Ha!" Sirius yelled sarcastically. "Dog jokes! Never heard those before!"

"Not from me!" she called back before walking into the lab and looking through her potions.

She found a nutrient potion before snapping her fingers and making the dementor exposure potion, which she'd named 'Dementoris Reficere.' (Dementor fix it), appear. She smirked as she thought of the name, knowing Lucius was going to groan in frustration the moment she told him. She walked back into the kitchen, placing the two potions in front of Sirius before sitting down in her chair.

They ate dinner, Adeline having to calm the boys a few times in the process, Sirius just smirking as he watched. Once they finished eating, the boys sat on the couch with Sirius, continuing their line of questioning as Adeline went into her office. She smiled to Hermione, handing her a flagon of pumpkin juice and a few sandwiches before watching as the young witch used her necklace, disappearing in time to get more studying done.

Adeline let out a sigh before grabbing papers that she needed to grade and her glasses and heading back into the sitting room. She smirked as she placed the papers down and slid her glasses on, waving her hand so a glass of wine flew over to her. Adeline worked on the essays with a red pen, writing suggestions and correcting spelling as she went. Aster and Harry both kissed her head, heading to the Gryffindor common room before curfew, Harry carrying the map with him.

Sirius transformed into Padfoot, jumping onto the couch beside Adeline and resting his head on her knee. Adeline smirked, giving him a pointed look before setting down her glass and petting his head instead. She finished the essays and stretched, her back popping a bit in the process.

"Are you going to sleep like that?" she asked.

Padfoot nodded and Adeline stood, leading the dog to the room. Adeline went into the large bathroom, getting a shower in before slipping into her silk nighty and getting into bed. Once under the covers, Padfoot curled up beside her and Adeline rested her hand on his back, tangling her fingers in his fur before closing her eyes.

On Saturday, Draco opened the front door of Malfoy manor, stepping aside so that Adeline could enter ahead of him. Dobby smiled at the group as they passed him, Adeline brushing her fingers over the top of his head. Sissy smiled brightly as Adeline, Sirius, Harry, Aster, and Draco walked into the sunroom, Andy and her family already there.

"One of these claims to belong to you?" Adeline smirked.

"I'll take the one with the green eyes," Sissy smirked.

"Hey!" Draco yelled, mock offended before a smile lit his face up.

Draco rushed forward, wrapping his arms around Sissy in a tight hug. Andy stood, hugging Sirius carefully, as if he were made of glass. Adeline forced herself to not roll her eyes, knowing how much Sirius hated being babied. Poppy had started it when examining him a few days ago and everyone had decided to continue the trend. Everyone except Adeline, who decided to pick on him at every chance she got, causing him to smile and laugh any time she came up with a good joke.

Tonks rushed forward, arms wrapping around Adeline. Adeline smiled brightly, holding the excitable girl in her arms before releasing her in order to hug Andy. Adeline reached out quickly, keeping Tonks on her feet and steadying her. Tonks gave her a grateful look before hugging Draco and then Aster. Andy smirked as she hugged Adeline, a twinkle in her eyes.

"You're up to something," Adeline whispered into her ear.

"Nothing to concern yourself with," Andy whispered back before pulling away.

"Mhmm," Adeline's eyes narrowed but a smile remained on her face.

Everyone took a seat, Adeline remaining standing behind Sirius as everyone began talking over tea. Adeline was only half paying attention though, watching Harry, Draco, and Aster as they played exploding snaps in the corner together. Harry seemed alright but Aster was having a rather rough time with Remus' disappearing act. Adeline had offered to go get Remus so he could see him and Aster's accidental magic had lashed out, a plant catching fire in the corner of the room. Adeline put out the fire and Aster told her that if Remus didn't have the balls to say goodbye then he didn't want to talk to him.

Now Aster was tossing cards out, a frown on his face and no real mirth in his actions. He backed away when Harry's card blew up, face unchanging in the process. Adeline took a deep breath, letting it out slowly before turning back to the adults. Sissy was staring at her, confused. Adeline gave her a weak smile and Sissy put a fake smile on.

"I'm so sorry. I just remembered I have to show Adeline a potion I've come across in a book. Do you mind, Adie?"

"Not at all," Adeline smiled, taking Sissy's offered arm and following her out of the room.

They reached the library and Adeline let out a slow breath.

"What's wrong? I thought Remus would be with you. He is family after all. Is it because Sirius is back?" Sissy questioned.

"Remus left," Adeline whispered, refusing to make eye contact with Sissy.

"What? Why?" Sissy questioned, shock clear on her face.

"He didn't say goodbye," Adeline told her. "I got hurt when we were bringing Sirius and Peter to Dumbledore and, I'm guessing, Remus blames himself. Probably thinks he should have been paying better attention."

"You said you were hurt. Are you alright?"

"I'm fine," Adeline assured her. "Poppy fixed me up in no time. He didn't say goodbye to me or the boys. I got back to our quarters and his stuff was gone. Aster isn't taking it well."

"I noticed he wasn't jumping all over the place like normal," Sissy nodded. "Thought he was just stressed with end of year exams next week."

"Bit more dramatic than that," Adeline sighed.

Sissy pulled Adeline to her, hugging her tightly.

"How are you doing?" she whispered the question.

"I've had to take dreamless sleep a few times," Adeline admitted. "My chest hurts and I cried in the shower."

"Sweet Adie," Sissy sighed before pulling away and studying her face. "I see it now. Your cosmetic spells are good if no one knows what to look for."

"I'm so angry," Adeline said, tears falling down her cheeks.

Sissy pulled her close again. The two stood there, Sissy holding Adeline as she cried for a bit. Adeline brushed the tears streaks from her face and Sissy tapped her head with her wand, fixing her makeup and making Adeline's eyes less red. They gave each other soft smiles before walking arm in arm out of the library and back to the sunroom. Lucius smiled as they entered, having just returned home.

"There they are," Lucius smiled. "I was going to send a search party."

"We were just in the library," Sissy smiled.

Lucius let out a chuckle before kissing Sissy's and then Adeline's head.

"Shall we?" he asked, holding his arm out for Sissy.

"We shall," Sissy smiled.

Lucius and Sissy led everyone to the dining room, everyone sitting as Tiffy and Dobby made food appear in front of them. After dinner, the boys went to fly for a bit as the adults went to the drawing room, Lucius pouring drinks for everyone, using magic to send the glasses around the room. He carried Adeline's and Sissy's drinks to them, both drinking a sweet wine as Lucius' brandy followed behind him.

"So, Siri, how are you doing?" Andy asked.

"I'm alright," Sirius nodded.

"Really?" Sissy asked.

Adeline saw both of them staring at Sirius in concern, feeling as if they were throwing pity his way.

"He's drinking up all of the attention," Adeline smirked, causing Sirius to let out a small laugh.

"I promise I'm alright," Sirius told the sisters. "Adeline is forcing me to see a mind healer three times a week and giving me potions a few times a day. Madam Pomfrey gave me a physical and said that the potions are already showing improvement."

"That's our Adie," Sissy smiled. "Always taking care of everyone."

"I'm good at it," Adeline shrugged.

"Where's Remus?" Lucius asked.

"He got caught up in something. He sends his best," Adeline lied easily.

"Ah. I'll have to pick on him for skipping family dinner next time that I see him," Lucius smirked.

"Be sure that you do," Adeline laughed.

"Is Remus your paramour?" Andy asked, seeming confused.

"No," Adeline shook her head. "He's my best friend. He helped me raise Aster when Reggie passed."

"Oh," Andy nodded.

Adeline held in a sigh, remembering the conversation with Andy during the war. Andy had told Adeline that she always knew Adeline was darker than the family she'd been married into and that she wanted nothing to do with her. Adeline had been spying and unable to argue with Andy or beg her to stay like she'd wanted to, instead having to throw ugly words her way with a smirk, pushing the witch as far away as possible.

Adeline had tried reaching out a few times since then and received no response. Adeline knew her letters were probably being blocked. Running into Tonks had been a surprise, the young witch literally falling into Adeline in Diagon Alley one day. Adeline had recognized her immediately, staring at her in wonder before realizing Alastor was there as well.

Alastor had explained everything to Tonks when she'd been ready to duel Adeline in the center of the alley. Tonks had agreed to one lunch, which had turned into lunch a few times every summer. Andy had been livid when a photo of the two had appeared in the Prophet before Tonks convinced Andy to reach out to Adeline herself.

Andy hadn't done so until Tonks sent word of Sirius' innocence before it reached the papers a few days ago and sent word to Adeline that she was willing to help Sirius in whatever way possible. Sissy had admitted to Adeline that Andy had reached out to her after speaking to Tonks, wanting to be sure it was safe for her daughter to be around the other witch. The two sisters were becoming close again but Andy was still a bit weary of Adeline.

Adeline heard the boys running towards the drawing room and smirked, turning just as they ran through the door. Well, Harry and Draco ran in. Aster was a distance behind them and walking. Harry and Draco smiled brightly before looking to Sirius.

"You bought the Firebolt," Harry breathed out.

"I did," Sirius nodded.

"Of course you did," Adeline sighed.

"I saw his get destroyed at the game," Sirius shrugged.

"Brooms have insurance policies. I've got an extra Nimbus sitting in my closet now."

"Can I have it?" Draco asked, eyes brightening.

"Sure," Adeline rolled her eyes. "It'll be an early birthday gift."

"Brilliant," Draco smiled widely.

"We should be going," Andy said suddenly, standing and setting her glass down. "Thank you for having us."

"Anytime," Sissy assured her. "I'll walk you out."

"Thank you," Andy nodded, giving Sirius a small hug before brushing pass Adeline and leaving the room.

Tonks gave Adeline a wave as she walked beside Ted out of the room. Sissy brushed Adeline's shoulder gently before catching up to Andy in the hall. Adeline let out a sigh the moment they were out of view.

"I see she still isn't speaking to you," Lucius offered.

"Nope," Adeline shook her head. "We should probably be going as well."

"I'll take you to the floo," Lucius nodded.

"Cause I don't know this house by heart," Adeline smirked, accepting Lucius' arm anyway.

"Nonsense," Lucius smirked.

They flooed to the cottage and then to Adeline's office. The boys ran off, checking the map as they headed to the Gryffindor common room so they wouldn't have to run into anyone. Adeline fell onto the couch, kicking off her high tops in the process.

"So, you dress muggle all of the time now?" Sirius smirked.

"If I can get away with it," Adeline smirked back.

"Are you tutoring tomorrow?"

"No but the students are going to Hogsmeade so I'll need to chaperone. Why?"

"I was just curious," Sirius shrugged, sitting on the opposite couch.

"Is there something that you want to do?" Adeline asked him.

"Can we go see them tomorrow? I saw them as a dog but it isn't the same," Sirius' voice was soft.

"We can go whenever you want," Adeline whispered back.

The next morning, Adeline placed bundles of flowers on each of the graves. Sirius stared down at the graves, tears escaping him. Adeline went to his side, taking his hand and giving a gentle squeeze.

"We should do something about that one," Sirius finally spoke up, pointing to Peter's grave.

"I know," she sighed. "Haven't really gotten to it yet. I'm surprised you didn't pee on it as Padfoot honestly."

"I did think about it," Sirius smirked before looking at the grave between Mattheo's and Peter's. "You didn't tell me you were pregnant."

"Mattheo had been killed a week before I saw you. It was hard to think about honestly," Adeline admitted.

"How far along were you?"

"Four months. It was a full month, so Remus was out here. I went to Sissy and Lucy and they helped me through it."

"I'm sorry," Sirius whispered.

Adeline looked down at Dorcas' grave, Sirius following Adeline's eyes.

"I'm sorry, too," she whispered.

The two looked to Reggie's grave next.

"I come out here and talk to him all the time," Adeline admitted. "Makes me feel a bit better. I tell him everything that's been going on. I yelled at them last time that I came out here."

"I heard," Sirius nodded.

Sirius kneeled down, whispering to Reggie's grave before standing and going to James', whispering to his grave as well. Adeline just watched him, taking in his presence. When he finished whispering, he stood and went back to her side. They turned and appeared in Hogsmeade just as students started arriving. Adeline waved her wand, making sure Sirius' eyes weren't red from crying anymore before they began walking together, Adeline keeping an eye on the students while Sirius watched her.

OWLs and NEWTs were taken over the next week and parties were held in common rooms that the teachers pretended to not know about. The professors sat in the conference room, all talking excitedly about their summer plans as they drank a bit.

"What are you doing this summer, Adie?" Argus asked, giving her a small smile.

"We'll be staying at the cottage," Adeline told him. "Are you going to come round for tea on Sundays?"

"I would love to," Argus nodded.

"Harry and Aster are going with their cousin on a bit of a vacation at some point. I had planned on going to the states during that time but I'll be staying home now."

"What ever for?" Minerva asked, joining in the conversation.

"I'll be staying here to take care of Sirius," Adeline explained. "He doesn't do well with being left alone and I wouldn't want to leave him to his own devices for that long anyways."

"I don't need a babysitter, Adie," Sirius sighed, going to her side.

"I'm not babysitting. I'm taking care of you," Adeline corrected. "Someone has to make your potions. Besides, I wasn't sure if I was really going to go or not. It can wait until next summer."

"Is it just me or does that guy look just like your prefect?" Sirius asked, pointing at Thomas.

"His brother," Adeline explained. "About took the wind out of me the first time that I saw him. Poppy would have given me a warning but she didn't realize who he was related to until she saw him in person and I saw him on his first day."

Adeline was glaring at Albus as he tried to convince her that Harry needed to stay with the Dursley's for two weeks, Harry sinking in his seat and starting to panic.

"It needs to be a blood relative, Adeline," Albus told her again.

Adeline chewed her lip, looking down at Harry as she thought it over.

"Would blood adoption work?" she asked before looking to Albus again, seeing the surprised expression on his face.

"I could make that work," Albus nodded. "Have you already done it?"

"No. I wanted to give Harry the choice…"

"I'll do it," Harry spoke up, looking to Adeline hopefully.

"You don't know what all will need to be done," Adeline said, voice soft as she spoke to him.

"I figure a little blood," he shrugged. "Kind of in the name."

"More than a little," Adeline sighed. "I'll get you a book on it first. Not a big one, just one that explains the process. You can decide what you want after that."

"Do you not want to adopt me?" Harry asked, fear in his eyes.

"Of course I do," Adeline told him, grabbing his hands. "I want nothing more. Blood adoptions aren't the same as simply signing a piece of paper though. Just read the book first, please?"

"Okay," Harry nodded.

Adeline found the book, handing it to Harry before he got on the train. He read it on the train, ignoring everyone around him in the process. Adeline waited at the station, still not sure why the boys hadn't just gone through the floo to get home. Molly and Sissy stood on either side of her with Emma on Molly's other side, all watching as the train slowly came to a stop. The whistle blew and kids began climbing out of the train, rushing to their parents and hugging each other goodbye.

Harry ran ahead of the others, arms going around Adeline tightly.

"I want to do it," he whispered to her.

Adeline and Harry were sitting in the forest on the full moon. Adeline cut Harry's hand quickly, not wanting to make the process long and drawn out. He held his bleeding hand over the goblet between them and Adeline cut her own hand, adding her blood to the goblet. Adeline poured a potion into the goblet and she and Harry stirred it together, speaking in Latin in the process, both of their voices clear, having memorized the spell over the past few days.

Adeline took a drink from the goblet first, making a face after two large gulps. She passed the goblet to Harry, watching as he drank the rest of the potion without flinching. Adeline gave him a smile before they continued chanting, their cut hands joined over a bundle of burning herbs. They continued chanting until the sun began to rise. Adeline helped Harry to his feet, leading him back to the cottage.

She laid him in his bed, covering him with a blanket before wrapping his hand, the cut needing to heal naturally. Adeline wrapped her own hand before going to her room and falling asleep. Dumbledore placed the blood wards over the cottage the next day, Adeline and Harry both still sleeping as Sirius and Aster watched over them.

They both woke the day after, magic washing over them when they embraced in a tight hug. Harry and Aster went with the Malfoys to China for the next two weeks, leaving Adeline and Sirius alone. They went flying a few times, Adeline refusing to get on the Firebolt when she saw Sirius holding it. They went to the alley as well, Sirius wanting to try every new ice cream flavor that Florean Fortescue had come up with while he'd been in Azkaban.

The two garnered stares every outing they went on. Adeline ignored the articles asking if Adeline was going to pop out a Black baby anytime soon or make Sirius head of the family again. Sirius would read her the articles that called them the rising dark couple so they could both laugh. The boys returned and began spending more time with Sirius, Draco included. Family dinners began happening every Saturday, Andy still being standoffish with Adeline and Lucius not asking about Remus again, telling Adeline that Sissy had informed him of Remus' leaving.

Molly, Emma, and Sissy met at Adeline's muggle home for tea on Sunday afternoons, Adeline buying new furniture to fill the house and making the house magical to make life easier. Adeline invited Andy but she never showed, causing Adeline to let out an annoyed sigh. Tonks came by every other Sunday, just happy to spend time with her aunt and cousin whenever she could, auror training taking over her other Sundays and all of her weekdays.

Molly told Adeline that Arthur had gotten tickets for the World Cup and Adeline smiled, telling her they would be there as well and asking where they were sitting.

"He said they were in the top row," Molly told her.

"Have him send me the tickets and I'll see if I can convince a few people to give him a better deal?" Adeline offered.

"Oh, you don't need to do that," Molly shook her head.

"I insist," Adeline stated. "This way we can find a way to all sit together."

"You say 'we' like you're going," Sissy smirked.

"Oh, no. I'm sending Severus and Sirius with the boys. The two have actually been getting along," Adeline smirked.

"That's actually surprising," Sissy's brow raised. "They hated one another in school."

"Yes, well, I didn't really give them a choice."

"You seem the sort to force all of your friends to be friends," Emma smirked.

"She is," Sissy supplied, letting a soft laugh out when Adeline gave her a soft glare.

"So, all the children and men will be away," Molly said thoughtfully before a smile grew on her face.

"Spa day?" Adeline offered.

"What does a magical spa day look like?" Emma asked curiously.

The four women were all face down on massage beds.

"This is so much better than I thought it would be," Emma hummed.

The other three women let out laughs before relaxing again. They got hot rock massages and sat in hot springs before getting mud facials. At the end of the day, they were sitting on luxury beds, sipping on elf wine and laughing, feeling more pampered than they had in a while.

"I love Lucius but I think I loved this more," Sissy sighed.

"How did the two of you meet?" Emma asked curiously.

"It was an arranged marriage," Sissy shrugged. "We were lucky that we actually got along, yet alone would actually fall in love, to be honest with you. It's rather rare in the Black family to end up in a happy marriage."

"Did you never have to marry?" Emma asked Adeline.

"I married into the family," Adeline told her.

"But you and Cisa look so similar," Emma frowned.

"Sissy looks nothing like her sisters," Adeline offered. "Most of the Blacks look like Aster but with grey eyes. I remember thinking that you and I looked more like sisters than you and your sisters when I met you."

"I take it as a compliment," Sissy smiled before looking to Molly. "You and Arthur met in school, correct?"

"We did," Molly smiled. "Used to argue all the time before realizing it was because we both liked one another."

"So who did you marry?" Emma asked Adeline.

"I was set to marry Sirius Black until he was kicked out by his mother. I married his brother, my best friend Reggie, instead. Also a marriage contract," Adeline explained. "I made sure there were no other marriage contracts lying around when I became head of the family Black. I wanted our children to be able to chose their own futures. Lucius checked the Malfoy contracts as well, making sure there wouldn't be any surprises for Draco, either."

"What happened to Reggie?"

"Died during the war."

"And then you and Remus…?"

"No. Remus and I were never together."

"But you talked about having a baby," Molly cut in and Sissy turned her attention to Adeline, also rather confused about hers and Remus' friendship.

"We both wanted another baby," Adeline nodded. "We were going to do a spell to make me pregnant again."

"So nothing ever happened with the two of you?" Molly questioned.

"Well, we did kiss a couple of times in school," Adeline offered. "I was his first kiss actually. The night before Reggie and I were supposed to get married, Reggie and I realized we were going to have to kiss and were both rather panicked, as we had always seen each other as siblings. Reggie wasn't a fan of kissing women so I convinced Remus to be his first kiss and Remus admitted he'd never kissed anyone before either. Remus and I kissed and then Reggie and Remus kissed. Then I gave Severus his first kiss and Reggie and I practiced kissing for the wedding the next day."

"How was Severus involved?" Molly asked.

"Is that when he was living with you?" Sissy asked.

"Yes and I decided that if Reggie and I had to kiss then it needed to be everyone in the house's problem," Adeline smirked.

The women all laughed before Adeline froze.

"Something's wrong with the kids," Adeline said, standing and waving her wand, her clothes appeared on her body in an instant.

"What do you mean?" Molly asked, looking panicked.

"Harry?" Sissy asked, her clothes appearing as well.

"Yes. Molly, stay with Emma and I'll tell you as soon as I know what's happening," Adeline stated before she and Sissy apparated to the forest where the cup was being held.

It was chaos the moment they landed, people screaming and running in every direction. Adeline heard the words 'death eaters' and turned to Sissy with wide eyes. Both women ran into the fray, Adeline feeling her bracelet go off again. She pressed back, letting Harry know that she was coming. She pushed through the crowd, getting to the camp grounds with Sissy directly behind her. Aurors were running ahead of them and Adeline followed after them, seeing Tonks in the crowd. Hermione and Draco ran pass the aurors, the Weasley's with them.

"Draco!" Sissy yelled, rushing forward.

Draco ran to Sissy, hugging her tightly while still holding Hermione's hand in his.

"Where are Harry and Aster?" Adeline questioned.

"Harry got separated from us and Aster went looking for him," Hermione said, her eyes wide in fear.

"All of you to the forest!" Adeline yelled to the kids before turning and running towards the tents.

She ran through the camping grounds, heading towards the tents that she could see smoking. A dark mark appeared in the air and Adeline had a moment of panic as she ran towards it, searching desperately for her kids and the adults that were supposed to be watching them.

"Stop!" Sirius' voice yelled from ahead, spell light flying through the air ahead.

Adeline reached the aurors, pushing them out of the way and finding Harry and Aster, Sirius kneeling in front of them. Both boys ran to Adeline immediately, arms wrapping around her and almost knocking her off of her feet.

"Which one of you conjured it?" Fudge demanded.

"Fuck off, Cornelius!" Adeline yelled.

"There was a man over there," Harry told them, pointing to a small clearing.

The aurors took off running and Adeline pulled back slightly, looking the boys over and finding a bruise on Harry's face, listening as he explained that he'd fallen and someone had kicked him as they were running in a panic. Sirius looked rather shaken as well so she opened her arms and he ran to her, lifting her in a hug. Severus and Arthur ran over, having finally found them after having tried to stop the attack.

Adeline sent a patronus, telling Molly that all of the children were alright before putting her arms around each of her son's shoulders and pulling them with her towards the forest where Sissy waited with the kids. She found Lucius standing with Sissy, talking quietly to her and going quiet the moment Adeline reached the group. The Weasley children ran to their father, grabbing him in a group hug in the process.

"I think it's time to head home," Arthur said.

"Wobky, Tiffy and Kreacher can start taking you," Adeline said and the three elves appeared, holding their hands out and waiting.

Once all of the Weasley's were gone, Hermione going with them, Dobby appeared to take the Malfoys, Adeline giving Lucius a suspicious look when none of them were watching her. Wobky and Tiffy reappeared, holding their hands out.

"Take them to the cottage," Adeline stated. "I have to go to Molly and Emma and then I'll be home."

Adeline apparated back to the spa, rushing back to their room and finding Emma pacing as Molly chewed one of her nails.

"Everyone has been delivered home. Harry was the only one hurt. Just a bruise, though. Everyone's alright."

Both women sighed in relief.

"I think it would be best if we all headed home," Molly stated.

"Of course," Adeline nodded. "Tiffy?"

Tiffy took Molly and Emma to the burrow, Emma wanting to see Hermione herself before Tiffy took her home. Adeline checked the women out of the spa and left, appearing in the woods outside of the cottage. She walked inside, going straight up the stairs and finding Harry and Aster curled up in her bed, Padfoot at their feet.

Adeline waved her wand, changing the boys and herself into pajamas before climbing between the two teenagers and pulling them close. She fell asleep holding them both, Sirius crawling up at one point and laying across all three of them. Severus came into the room, staring at them for a bit before heading to his old room and getting some rest.

School started a week later, Adeline watching nervously as Harry and Aster boarded the train. She waited until it was out of sight before apparating to Hogsmeade. Adeline walked through the quiet village, giving kind smiles to anyone who actually held eye contact with her for more than half a second. With the threat of death eaters over every one's heads again, Adeline was receiving suspicious looks, reminding her of the beginning of the war all over again.

Adeline went straight to the staff meeting once she arrived at the school, getting there just after Albus had. She gave a weak smile to everyone before standing between Argus and Severus. They discussed the tournament, how it would affect class schedules and tutoring sessions for the year.

"Well, at least you don't have to watch the boys on their brooms this year," Severus offered as they walked towards the dungeons.

"Thank Merlin for that," Adeline let out a small laugh.

"Mad-Eye hasn't arrived yet," Severus noted.

"There was an attack on his home the other day. Don't let him hear you call him that," Adeline smirked.

"What's he going to do? Throw his fake eye at me?" Severus smirked.

Adeline laughed loudly as the image of Alastor throwing magical eyes at people came into her head. Severus began laughing as well. They ended up doubled over in laughter and leaning against a wall until they could breathe again.

"I don't think I've laughed that hard in months," Adeline admitted, a wide smile on her face.

"Me, either," Severus admitted.

The two let out sad sighs, both knowing why they hadn't been able to truly laugh lately. They headed up to the Great Hall just before the train was set to arrive, meeting with the other professors in the process.

The spell on the ceiling crashed with lightening and Adeline sent a glare up at it. A spell shot off from the side stairwell and Adeline turned, smiling when she saw Alastor. He moved to the table, shaking Albus' hand before taking his seat beside Adeline.

"Alastor," Adeline smirked. "Just in time for dinner."

"Lucky me," Alastor grumbled.

"Uh, oh," Adeline whispered to Severus.

Severus held in a snort of laughter, turning his head towards Minerva so Alastor couldn't see. Minerva just smirked, rolling her eyes at the two before food appeared on the tables. Ater dinner, Albus announced that Quidditch would be cancelled for the year due to an event that would be taking place at the school, most of the students complaining loudly, Harry and Aster included.

"Where's your boy?" Alastor asked, looking around the sea of students.

"Over there," Adeline pointed to Aster and Harry. "How we ended up with so many Gryffindors, I'll never know."

"I see," Alastor nodded, seeing Draco standing with the two boys.

"Are you excited about teaching?" Adeline asked Alastor. "I know you said it was something you wanted to look into one day."

"I am," Alastor nodded. "Should be an interesting year to say the least."

"That it should," Adeline sighed. "I'm just worried that certain children will find a way to find trouble even with the age line."

"We'll see how it goes," Alastor shrugged.

Three days later, Dumstrang and Beauxbatons students were introduced to the school. Albus announced the tournament and let Fudge announce the rules. When an outcry of anger was heard from the sixteen year olds, Adeline looked to Harry and Aster, seeing them both looking rather relieved that they wouldn't be able to enter. She and Severus exchanged smiles, both relieved by the boy's reactions.

Adeline sighed as she stared at the twins, both sporting white hair and beards.

"What did we learn?" she smirked.

"Not to try tricking age lines," they grumbled together.

Adeline rolled her eyes before waving her wand and having a potion appear in front of both boys. They took the potion and turned back to their normal selves. They thanked Adeline a few hundred times before she sent them away. Two days later, Adeline watched as Cedric Diggory, Victor Krum, and Fleur Delacour were selected and sent to a private room. She was ready to go to her boys to gather them for tea together when the goblet spit out another name.

Adeline immediately moved forward, Severus directly behind her as they moved in front of the professors.

"Harry Potter," Albus whispered before raising his voice. "Harry Potter."

Adeline saw Harry sit down in his seat, refusing to move when Hermione told him to.

"Harry Potter!" Albus called out.

Hermione forced Harry to stand and pushed him towards the front. Harry walked slowly towards Albus. He took the paper with his name on it, looking down in confusion. He moved to Adeline immediately. She wrapped her arm over his shoulders and pulled him away from the crowd, people calling out that he was a cheater as she dragged him away.

They stood in the private room, Harry breathing heavily as he began to panic.

"Breathe with me, darling. Nice and slow, Harry," Adeline told him, making him breath with her as the headmasters ran in, along with Fudge, Alastor, Severus, and Minerva.

"Harry, did you put your name in the goblet of fire?" Dumbledore asked calmly.

"No," Harry shook his head.

"Did you ask an older student to do it for you?"

"No."

"He must be lying!" Madam Maxine yelled.

"If Harry says he didn't do it, then I believe him," Albus stated, turning to face the other headmasters.

"He's not competing," Adeline said to the room, eyes not leaving Harry.

"It's a magically binding contract," Fudge announced. "The boy will have to compete."

Adeline closed her eyes, taking a few deep breaths before opening them again. Harry was staring at her with fear in his eyes.

"It's okay," she whispered to him. "I'll figure it out."

Adeline spent the next week going through everything that she could with Severus' and Sirius' help. They found no loopholes. Adeline decided it was time for reinforcements.

Adeline sat in an old armchair, holes and tears causing the chair to look just as dingy as the rest of the house. Her legs were crossed as she waited, a glass of muggle bourbon in her hand. A light turned on and Adeline looked up, watching as the man moved to the table by the door, his back to her. He straightened suddenly before letting out a sigh.

"Hello, Adie," Remus said before turning to face her.

"I never could sneak up on you," Adeline stated.

"I can smell your perfume," he admitted.

"So, this is where you've been hiding out," she sighed, looking around. "Bit broken down for my taste."

"You did always like finer things unless it came to kitchen tables," Remus nodded, leaning against the table and crossing his arms. "Why are you here?"

"Harry was illegally entered into the Triwizard Tournament," Adeline announced. "Figured he could use all the help he could get."

"I'm not coming back," Remus shook his head.

Adeline downed the bourbon before standing. She set the glass down and looked Remus over, noticing his dingy clothes.

"I already packed your bag," she shrugged before walked forward and grabbing Remus' arm.

She turned on the spot, appearing in Hogsmeade with Remus.

"Are you serious, Adie?" Remus grumbled.

"No, that would be me," Sirius offered, walking over to them with Severus by his side.

"Wobky?" Remus tried. "Tiffy?"

Neither elf appeared and Adeline raised her brow, tapping Remus' head and fixing his appearance. His hair was cleaned and combed and his clothes changed into his favorite sweater and jeans that had been left behind in their muggle home.

"Kreacher?" he tried.

"As if," Adeline rolled her eyes, grabbing Remus' arm. "Come on. Harry needs us."

Remus groaned as Adeline dragged him through the village.

"Stop acting like a child," Adeline told him.

Once on the school grounds, Remus began walking on his own, Adeline not having to drag him as Severus pushed. Sirius was rather entertained as he watched the two handle Remus like they'd been doing it for ages, which he guess they had actually been doing. Remus walked between Adeline and Severus, Sirius going to Adeline's other side. The four swept into the castle, students jumping out of the way when they saw them coming. Remus held his head high, acting as if he hadn't been throwing a tantrum a few moments ago now that teenagers were around.

They walked up the stairs, gaining more and more stares as they headed to Dumbledore's office. Alastor watched them go, his magical eye zooming back and forth between the four as they went. Aster, Draco, Harry and their friends were coming down the hall, passing Dumbledore's office when the four adults turned the corner.

"Dad?" Aster asked, staring at Remus with wide eyes.

"Reunion can wait. 'Scuse us," Adeline smirked.

The twins pulled the kids out of the way as Adeline reached the gargoyle.

"Bertie Botts," Severus spoke and the gargoyle hopped out of the way.

Adeline stepped up first, followed by Remus, Sirius, and then Severus. They reached the top of the stairs and Adeline didn't bother knocking as she walked into the office. She smirked when she saw Fudge already there, discussing things with Albus and the other two headmasters.

"Adeline," Albus looked rather annoyed at the interruption.

"I'm so sorry. Is this a bad time? I figured someone needs to be present for the proceedings to represent Harry," she smirked. "I even brought you choices."

"Harry is a Hogwarts student," Albus shook his head.

"Harry was entered into the tournament under a fourth school," Adeline reminded him. "That means he is not a student of Hogwarts which means you cannot represent him. As Severus and I are both professors, we cannot represent him. Remus and Sirius are both here to volunteer."

"We are?" Sirius asked before straightening a bit. "I mean, yes. We are."

"Sirius just got out of Azkaban," Albus reminded her. "He is not in the head space to represent a fourteen year old."

"Oh, drats," Adeline sighed, hands going to her hips. "I guess I only brought you one option. My mistake. Remus it is. Also, since we're on the subject of him being fourteen, this tournament was only supposed to be for people of age. As it is magically binding, does that make Harry, magically, an adult?"

Albus' eyes widened at the implications of that.

"No," Fudge answered quickly.

"Are you sure about that?" Adeline asked just as Lucius stepped out of the floo.

"So sorry that I'm late," Lucius stated, passing Adeline a folder.

"You're timing couldn't be more perfect," Adeline smirked as she opened the folder. "Oh, look at that, the trace is gone."

Adeline threw the folder onto Dumbledore's desk, leaning forward on the desk using her hands.

"I'm growing tired of telling people not to touch what is mine," she growled out. "Harry is my child. You did not protect the cup enough to keep children under seventeen from entering this tournament since, as you made obvious, older students could have put younger students names into it. Imagine if a seventh year had a grudge against a first-years family and that first year ended up being chosen."

"That's a bit extreme," Albus started.

"Extreme is how we will be reacting if Harry ends up getting seriously injured in this tournament," Remus spoke up, going to Adeline's side. "You should have put better precautions on the cup. Anyone could have put his name in. Someone happened to go through the trouble of making sure he was listed as a fourth school which means someone is aiming to injure or kill him. Have you questioned your staff? Any students who would have something against him?"

"Well, no…" Dumbledore's voice was smaller than Adeline had ever heard.

"So you're telling me you've done nothing to investigate? I spent a week trying to find a loophole to get him out of this tournament and you've been what? Picking out your dress robes for the Yule Ball?" Adeline had a growl in her voice as she spoke, anger seeping out of every pore.

"As the minister, should you not be investigating? You have an illegal entry in a tournament that is made for wizards that are of age. Why have you done nothing?" Remus questioned Fudge, so much hatred in his eyes as he faced the minister that the man visibly shrank.

Igor and Olympe were smirking as they watched everything unfold.

"It will not be a Hogwarts champion when Harry wins," Adeline said, staring Dumbledore down.

"When?" Dumbledore questioned.

"Think about who his parents are," Adeline reminded him, standing tall. "Think of all the things he could have been taught by now without anyone knowing. It's not like purebloods haven't been tutoring their children for centuries under the radar of the ministry. Did you really think my children would be any different?"

Dumbledore's and Fudge's eyes widened, as if suddenly remembering the Shafiq and Black traditions that Adeline had been raised on.

"I think the meeting can be adjourned for the day," Igor smirked, leading Olympe out of the office.

Adeline turned, following them out, Sirius, Severus and Remus following behind her. Once in the hall, Adeline turned on Remus, pushing him into the wall.

"If you ever put our children in danger and don't notify me again, I will skin you alive. Do I make myself clear?" she spat the threat at him, magic crackling around her.

"Okay," Remus nodded.

Adeline released Remus, turning and walking away, heading to her office. Severus and Sirius followed her, Remus staying in the hall and watching them walk away. Sirius glanced back, offering Remus a weak smile before facing forward again. Adeline let a bit of her magic out once they reached her classroom, the windows blowing out and the desks closest to her flying away from her.

Severus waved his wand and everything corrected itself. He watched her, waiting as she took a few deep breathes, calming herself before opening her eyes again. Severus went to her side, placing a hand on her back.

"I'm good," she whispered.

"Liar," Severus grumbled, giving a soft smirk when Adeline glared at him.

"I'm pissed," she admitted. "He fucked up and then ran off and now Harry…"

Adeline rubbed her face roughly.

"I know," Severus whispered. "I know."

After a few more moments, Adeline moved her hands, finding all of the children staring at her from her office door. She cursed under her breath as Severus fixed her makeup with a tap of his wand. She moved towards the kids and Harry and Aster ran forward, hugging her tightly. Adeline calmed, feeling better with her boys in her arms.

"Why's dad here?" Harry asked, voice soft.

"Well, since you were put into the tournament under a fourth school, Hogwarts can't represent you. Dad volunteered," Adeline lied on the last part but didn't really care considering she wasn't giving Remus an option. "He'll be helping you train for the tournament."

"Are you not allowed?" Harry asked, backing away a bit.

"I'm going to help you whether I'm allowed to or not," Adeline smirked.

Remus walked into the classroom, staring at the kids. Aster moved first, running to Remus and jumping into his arms. Remus held him tightly, closing his eyes and burying his face in Aster's neck, breathing him in. Harry went next, hugging Remus tightly around his waist once Aster had been set back on his feet. Remus held Harry carefully, not wanting to scare him off but breathing him in the same way he had Aster.

The twins, Hermione, and Draco came out of the office, watching the reunion from behind Adeline. She gave them all a small smile, unable to watch as the kids got their happy reunion, feeling a bit bitter towards Remus at the moment.

"Did you yell?" Fred smirked.

"I did," she nodded.

"Wicked," George's smirk matched Fred's.

"I think Albus almost wet his pants," Sirius added.

"Fudge probably did once Remus yelled at him," Severus offered. "I forgot how absolutely terrifying the two of you are together."

"How could you ever forget?" Adeline asked with a bright smile.

"Well, when one of you goes missing for a few months…" Sirius offered, turning a glare on Remus.

"Sorry," Remus flinched under Sirius' gaze. "How are you?"

"Healing," Sirius told him. "Not the one you should be apologizing to though."

"I've learned Adeline doesn't accept apologies until everyone else has been apologized to first," Remus offered.

"Took a few years to figure it out," Adeline told Severus.

"I remember," Severus smirked.

"Alright. Draco, Hermione, Gred, Feorge, go on. Long talks are coming and no one wants to have witnesses," Adeline sighed.

The four students left, Fred and George complaining a bit in the process. Adeline just rolled her eyes, wondering if her eyes could fall out from rolling them so much in a day. Once they were gone, Adeline lead everyone else through her office and into her living quarters, falling onto a couch and rubbing her neck.

Remus went to her side immediately and began rubbing her neck, working on the knots for her. Adeline sighed, letting him work on her neck and shoulders as everyone else found a seat. Sirius turned into Padfoot and laid at Adeline's feet, a habit he had begun when he was feeling most depressed and waiting for his next round of potions.

Remus stopped once everyone was seated and he looked to Harry and Aster.

"I'm sorry for just disappearing on you. I shouldn't have done that. I should have, at the very least, came and spoken to both of you. I was angry with myself for hurting your mom and I handled it badly," he explained.

"You didn't hurt mom," Aster spoke up, having gotten the full story out of Sirius a few days after it had happened. "The wolf tried to hurt Uncle Sev and mom jumped in the way. Sirius said the wolf stopped when it saw her and began whining."

"The wolf sees your mom as pack. Knowing that it hurt her, upset it enough that I was able to take control again," Remus explained.

"You just admitted the wolf hurt her and not you," Harry spoke up.

Adeline smirked, knowing Harry had him there. Remus just sighed, knowing he was trapped now.

"I know it was the wolf. It doesn't make me feel any less badly about it," Remus admitted.

"Mom was hurt and you left," Aster crossed his arms over his chest, glaring at Remus. "She had to take extra potions."

"How?" Adeline began.

"We notice," Aster told her. "You've also got a bit of a limp."

"That's not from the wolf," Adeline sighed.

"Nerve damage?" Severus asked.

"Yeah," she nodded to him.

"Point is, I was wrong. Your mom was hurt and I should have stayed and helped take care of her and Sirius. Instead I ran away because I was scared of hurting anyone else," Remus spoke up. "I am so sorry."

"How do we know that you won't just leave again?" Harry asked.

"I swear I won't leave again," Remus told them. "I know you don't believe me and that I'll have to earn your trust back. I'm willing to try though."

"Fine," Aster rolled his eyes. "We guess you can try."

Adeline bit her lip to keep from laughing. Padfoot did not care as he let out a rough bark that Adeline knew was supposed to be a laugh. Adeline's alarm went off on her wand and she turned it off. Sirius turned human again as his potions floated to him. He drank them without problem, placing the empty vials on the table.

"I'll need to brew more," Adeline chewed her lip, thinking the potion over.

"I can handle it," Severus promised. "Spend time with them."

"What about your time?" Adeline frowned, tilting her head.

"I can get it back," Severus smirked, walking away before Adeline could start pouting.

Sirius went to Harry and Aster, turning into Padfoot and jumping onto them, licking their faces as they yelled for him to stop. Harry made a break for it, running out of the room. Padfoot chased after him, causing Aster to chase him in the process.

"I'm suddenly remembering you chasing a dog down the hall in sixth year now," Adeline grumbled.

"Yeah," Remus sighed. "He used to do that to us all the time."

"Hmm," Adeline nodded, looking anywhere but at Remus.

"Adie," Remus whispered.

"Hmm," she hummed again, still not looking at him.

"I'm so sorry," Remus sounded broken, causing Adeline to turn and look at him.

"Are you sorry for hurting me or sorry for leaving me?" she questioned.

"Both," he shrugged. "Ow!"

"You already said it was the wolf," she told him, pulling her arm back after having slapped his arm. "Don't apologize for hurting me. Besides, the wolf felt bad enough apparently."

"He really did," Remus sighed. "It was a bit strange to be honest. I've never been able to understand his emotions so well before."

"Well, that's kind of cool," Adeline offered.

"I am sorry for leaving, Adie," Remus whispered, staring into Adeline's eyes.

"I'm still mad at you," she grumbled, crossing her arms as she sank into the couch.

"I know," he nodded.

"You're staying," she said, voice firm.

"I am," he nodded.

"I'll hex you if you leave again," she told him. "We promised after last summer that we wouldn't go that long apart again and you immediately broke it."

"I'm sorry," Remus whispered, pulling her to his chest.

Adeline melted into him, letting out a whimper in the process. Remus lifted her legs, pulling her across his lap so he was holding her whole body. He held her close, rocking her back and forth. Adeline didn't cry. She didn't need to as the pain that had been in her chest for the past few months was finally alleviated. Remus let out a sigh of relief, the pain leaving him as well.

The boys ran back in, Padfoot chasing after them and barking loudly. The boys fell onto the couch, laughing as Padfoot jumped on them. Padfoot stopped when he saw Adeline and Remus, tilting his head before turning human again.

"How are the two of you still like this?" Sirius questioned with a smirk.

"Like what?" Aster asked curiously.

"On each other all the time," Sirius shrugged. "They were like this in school, too."

"What do you know about magical cores?" Adeline asked him.

"They give us magic," Sirius shrugged. "Muggles don't have one."

"What about matching magical cores?"

"They're rare and there are varying degrees on how much the core matches."

"Remus and I have matching magical cores that are almost completely intertwined," Adeline explained. "Harry and Aster have matching cores as well, but it's not as connected as ours is."

"Wait, really? So, what does that mean exactly?" Sirius questioned.

"Well, we're drawn to each other and our magic is stronger together," Remus stated. "We have a book around here somewhere."

"You always have a book," Sirius sighed.

"That we do," Adeline smirked, standing from Remus' lap and walking over to the fireplace.

She reached above it, grabbing the souls book and passing it to Sirius. He began reading immediately, leaning back on the couch and making himself comfortable in the process. Adeline smiled fondly before going back to Remus' lap, getting comfortable again as he held her. Aster and Harry left, waving goodbye and heading to the Great Hall for dinner. Adeline and Remus began whispering back and forth, plotting how to tell Harry about the first tasks.

There were no potions for dragon fire. Adeline was ready to burn her entire library to ash. She let out a frustrated groan as she sat back in her chair. Remus was in the classroom with Harry, practicing spell work before dinner. Sirius pushed the book he was reading away as well, letting out a sigh before looking to Adeline.

"Nothing?" he asked.

"Not a single thing," she sighed. "I asked Charlie Weasley how they handle the dragon and he told me dragon hide clothes, which are illegal for anyone who isn't a dragon tamer."

"What other magical creatures are impervious to dragon fire?" Sirius asked curiously.

"Basilisk. Somehow basilisk and dragons are related which makes no sense to me. Explains the size, though."

"They're related?"

"Yes but I don't exactly have one of those lying around."

"Harry can talk to snakes."

Adeline froze at the thought.

"Holy shit. Harry can talk to snakes," Adeline ran to the classroom, Sirius following after her quickly.

"What's wrong?" Remus asked as the two ran in.

"Harry might be able to talk to the dragon," Sirius explained.

"Where's your cloak?" Adeline asked him.

Harry pulled the cloak out of his pocket. Adeline held in a smirk, thinking of James carrying the cloak all the time as well. Once Harry had the cloak over his head, Adeline had him hold her cloak and disillusioned herself. The two snuck down to the forest, stopping by the tree line. The dragon handlers tossed raw bits of meat into the cages and walked away, giving the dragons plenty of room as they ate.

Adeline and Harry walked forward carefully. The Chinese Firebolt turned at the sound of their steps, narrowing its eyes a bit. Once behind the cages where they couldn't be seen, Harry took the cloak off and Adeline became visible again. Harry began hissing quietly and, to Adeline's horror and delight, the dragon hissed back. After a few minutes, Harry smiled brightly and gave Adeline a nod, throwing his cloak back on and grabbing her robes.

Adeline led Harry out of the forest, both becoming visible again once they reached the classroom where Remus and Sirius were both waiting.

"It worked," Harry announced, throwing the cloak off. "They even told me what I need to do. There's a fake egg with their eggs, a golden one. I'm guessing I'll have to retrieve it. They've all agreed to just let us take the fake egg. I just need to tell the others to not touch the real eggs and they'll let us all through."

"I hope the judges weren't looking for a show," Remus smirked.

"They aren't getting one," Adeline grumbled before smiling and pulling Harry close.

Harry smiled as he hugged Adeline, his head resting on her shoulder.

"You're getting so tall," Adeline complained. "Who told you kids that you could grow up?"

"No clue. You told me to stay a kid forever. I couldn't let Hermione get taller than me though. She'd never let me live it down," Harry smirked.

Adeline laughed before letting Harry head to dinner to pass messages to the other champions. Adeline followed not long after, Remus and Sirius heading to the cottage for a few days to catch up away from the kids. Adeline watched as Hedwig dropped notes in front of the other tributes at dinner before flying over to her, landing beside her and hooting while holding out her leg. Adeline smirked as she took the note, feeding Hedwig a bit of meat from her plate before watching her fly to Harry.

"What's that about?" Alastor questioned.

"Not sure," she admitted, unfolding the note and seeing Harry's scratchy handwriting.

'Thanks, mum.'

Adeline had to hold in tears.
