Hello! Welcome to U.A. High School. Where we strive to teach our students to be the best upcoming heroes they can be. Our beloved Symbol of Peace, the #1 Hero, All Might, once attended our school. Under the leadership of our intelligent Pro Hero, Principle Nezu, there's nothing this school can't teach. A commercial, created by a student reporter and the broadcasting club, plays throughout the school. It's been about six months since the new school year began. A first year student walked through the halls, heading towards class 1-A.

A young man with the head of a black bird. Another young man with red and white hair and a scar around his left eye runs past him, carrying a blue feather in his hand. "Slow down Todoroki, you're getting obsessed with finding this thing!" a young man with blue hair and glasses called out to him. He turns towards the young man. "Apologies, Tokoyami, Todoroki found another one of those blue feathers in the halls again and thinks this school has a giant bird hidden here." He bows.

"I WILL FIND THE BIRD, IIDA! JUST YOU WAIT! I WILL GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS MYSTERY!" Todoroki said.

"A blue feather?" Tokoyami asked. Dark Shadow appears as they look at each other. "Could it be possible, Dark Shadow?"

"You should know by now that it's not her Tokoyami." He said.

"I know. She's been missing for almost ten years now." Tokoyami said.

"Who are you talking about?" Iida asked.

"And old friend." Shadow said in a saddened tone.

"I FOUND ANOTHER FEATHER! IT'S CLOSE, I CAN FEEL IT!" Todoroki called out in excitement.

"I think we need to have a look at one of those feathers he keeps finding." Shadow said before he disappeared.

"Is it possible that this bird isn't really a bird?" Iida asked as he looked at him.

"Not sure" He said as he looked down, crossing his arms.

As he walks alongside Iida, He thinks back to when he was a child, no older than three, playing with a little girl with wavy red hair and blue unpreened wings. He thinks back to the day when he first lost control of Dark Shadow at the age of six. It was the same little girl that helped him calm down and regain control. At the age of seven was the mission where her adopted mother, "Shrinky Dink", passed away. Her sidekick, "Frankenstein" disappeared, and Mt. Lady, a UA first year Interning with them at the time, came up to him and his family with a small bundle of blue feathers in her hands.

He was crying as he took the feathers from her. The heroes looked for the child for two months before calling it quits and presumed that she had died. He continued to search even after the heroes had given up. He would sneak out of the house every night for the next five years to look for her until he turned twelve. Although he had stopped searching for her. He never stopped believing that she was still alive somewhere to this day.

"ANOTHER FEATHER! I'm close to findi-... THE BIRD!" Todoroki said as he pointed to what appears to be part of a blue wing turning the corner and into the ladies bathroom. "DAMMIT! The forbidden sanctum of flower smells and beauty enhancements."

"The ladies room." Iida said.

"The bird must be a female if it's walking into the forbidden sanctum." Todoroki said.

"Or they could be a janitor or a custodian for the school." Iida said as he adjusted his glasses.

"Or a student from a different class than us." Tokoyami said. As the boys are talking, Dark Shadow appears without Tokoyami noticing, and quietly opens the door to the ladies bathroom. He peeks in and sees a girl around their age not in a student uniform, mopping the floors, humming to herself. His eyes widened as he immediately recognized who she was. Long wavy red hair tied into a ponytail with unpreened and clipped blue wings. The girl went by the name, Reika Takami. He closed the door as he realized that she was being watched. "Dark Shadow, what are you doing?" Tokoyami asked as he looked down at him with suspicion in his voice and a raised eyebrow.

'I shouldn't tell him. Who knows what he'll do if I tell him now. But why is she working? Shouldn't she be a student? And her wings looked like they haven't been preened in years. No wonder she's losing so many feathers.' "It's nothing. Just the janitor cleaning the floors." He said before disappearing.

A few days after the sports festival, Tokoyami gathered some of the feathers that Todoroki had found around the school. He brought out an old looking book labeled, "How To Make a Bird Shine With Preening" with a place mark. He opened the book where the place mark was. It was a black piece of paper with a small blue feather, similar to the ones Todoroki finds. The chapter it was in was called "Preening the Wings". He examined both feathers and his eyes widened. He drops the feathers and the homemade bookmark and steps back a bit in shock. "Impossible! Could she really be-? After all these years?!" He says to himself.

"Fumikage, dear? Is everything alright?" His mother asks.

"Yes, mother. Everything's fine." He replied. 'Reika? Have you really returned to us?' He thought. He sees a couple drops fall and land on the pages of the book and notices that he was crying. "Dark Shadow! Who was it that you saw the other day?" He asked as he glared at the sentient shadow.

"I keep telling you, It was just one of the Janitors cleaning the bathrooms." He said.

"Then why does Todoroki keep finding these feathers that look IDENTICAL to hers?" He showed him the bookmark then the feather Todoroki found.

"Wait, you actually kept one of the feathers we found at the site where Shrinky Dink died? I thought we got rid of all the ones we found there." Dark Shadow said. He doesn't answer him for a few seconds. "Wait… Don't tell me." He smiles smugly at him.

"We kept them, so what! I never gave up hope that she's still out there, and I think we finally have a lead on where she is." Tokoyami explained as he smiled. He picks up the feathers and bookmark. "I'm gonna start searching again. Starting with the school grounds."

"And what will you do if you DO find her, Fumikage? If she is alive, then there must have been a reason why she's been in hiding for so long. You can't fo-" Dark Shadow began to say before Tokoyami interrupted him.

"She'll tell me when she's ready. I won't force her to do anything." He said.

"And what if you start your search again like you say, but come to find some sort of proof that she had died during that mission? I know you want to believe that she's alive and believe me I do as well, but it's time for us to move on. She's gone and she's never coming back. For all we know these feathers may very well belong to just a giant bird that's running loose in the school." He explained in a sad tone.

"You're right, Dark Shadow. What if all this is just a waste of time? That I'm still just trying to come to terms with the fact that she's gone. But what if she's not? These feathers that Todoroki found, might lead us to her. Remember those kids that we met at the Sports Festival, the ones that were with Principle Nezu? They were wearing blue feathers on their outfits. Maybe they might have some clues as to who these feathers belong to." He explained as he looked at Dark Shadow.

Dark Shadow sighs. "Well if it's to help you find closure." He said before disappearing.

The next day was a Sunday, which meant no school. Mrs. Tokoyami was in the kitchen making lunch while Mr. Tokoyami was putting the pictures he had bought from the Sports Festival into an album. He comes across a picture of Dark Shadow holding the winning head band, but in the corner of the picture, in the stands, stood a small humanoid blur with something blue on their back, sweeping the isles. "Hey, honey. Come look at this. It's really hard to see but the person in the stands appears to have wings." He said as he showed his wife the picture and pointed to the blurred figure.

"That's strange. The only hero we know that has wings is Hawks, but his wings are red. Although there used to be a girl that Fumikage always played with when he was little that had blue wings. I think we used the feathers that would fall from them into his pillows and he made one into a bookmark. What was her name again?" She explained.

"I don't remember. Maybe Fumikage would know. If she were still alive, she would be around his age now." He said.

She walks over and brings out an older looking picture album. "I remember that he and the girl were inseparable, wherever she went, he would always follow her like a little bird. He was so protective of her that he hardly ever left her alone. Shortly after she died, I found him and Dark Shadow sleeping with her feathers all around them on his bed. He once asked me that 'when' they found her, we could adopt her, since she had no living relatives and that Shrinky Dink was actually her adopted mother." She said as she opened the album to a page from when Tokoyami was only about four or five, happily playing in a playground sandbox with a little girl with bright blue wings around the same age. "Those boys loved her as if she were their little sister."

"And since she died, Fumikage had dug himself deep into a dark hole and now he can't get out." He said.

"Or maybe he doesn't want to get out." She said in a sad tone.

"Dark Shadow tries to help but to no avail. That boy still has hope that she's alive." He said as he looked at her.

"And that shred of hope is the only thing keeping him from going insane." Dark Shadow says as he quietly shuts Fumikage's door. "He hasn't gotten much sleep since he started examining the feathers, so right now he's taking a nap."

"He's been working so hard, I'm glad he's getting some rest." His mother said.

'He's gonna need it for what's gonna happen in the near future.' Dark Shadow thought to himself.

A couple days later the class of 1-A started their internships. Tokoyami went with Hawks. Soon after they went to Hosu to fight the Hero Killer: Stain. Hawks ordered Tokoyami to search and save the civilians. He does what he's ordered and scans the area. He sees a yellow-winged Nomu fly into a building that was still inhabited by civilians. He does everything he can to warn the civilians in the building and lead them to safety. He turns to make sure everyone is safe but he sees two children, around the age of six, looking everywhere for something. "Where's big sissy?!" The little girl with a white fox tail asked as she looked at her brother who had white fox ears.

"She was right behind us when we were running from the monster. We'll have to use your quirk of detection in order to find her." The boy said calmly as he looked at his twin sister.

"Rhyan, you know what happens when I use my quirk." She said in a worried tone.

"I know but we have to find her somehow." The boy called Rhyan said bravely.

"Kids, we have to get out of here. There's a Nomu in this building." Tokoyami said as he ran to them.

"But we can't yet! We have to find our big sister!" Rhyan said as he looked at him.

Tokoyami looks at the girl. He realizes that she and her brother both had blue feathers. The girl had two in her hair as burettes while the boy had two in a small bottle around his neck. "I heard you have a Detection quirk. Do you think it'll help find your sister?" He asked.

She nods her head yes. "My quirk can detect anyone from a two mile radius. The only downside is that I can only use it once. After that then I have to sleep for a couple of days straight before I can use it again." She explained. 'It's the boy who won second place at the Sports Festival. The one sissy said she trusts the most.'

"Think you can use it. Once you find her, we'll take it from there." Dark Shadow said.

She nods her head then sits down on the ground, gently placing her hands on the ground in front of her. The ground begins to pulse with purple ripples of energy. "I found her! She's six floors below us. But the monster is down there with her." She explained before she yawned and fell into her brother's arms, fast asleep.

"She must have led the monster down there so that you and the others could get away. You did a great job, kid. Get some rest and leave the rest to us." Tokoyami said as he gently petted her head as she slept, smiling down at them.

"Please, Mr. Hero. Save our sister." Rhyan said.

"My name is Tsukuyomi." Tokoyami and Dark Shadow said at the same time before they rushed to find the sister. By the time he gets to the basement floor, he sees the Nomu with bleeding cuts on its body, walking towards a girl around his age, laying motionless, with a bleeding gash running down her head. He attacks the Nomu before picking up the girl and ranning away from it. He meets the two children at the safe zone.

"Yay! You found her! Thanks so much Tsukuyomi." He hears the boy say. He sees his sister sleeping peacefully in one of the cots. He places the elder sister on the cot beside her, then he gasps when he gets a good look at the girl he saved.

"R-Reika?!" Tokoyami and Dark Shadow spoke at the same time.

Tokoyami's eyes widened. 'She's alive! She's really here! After all this time!' He thought to himself.

"Wait, you know our sister, Tsukuyomi?" The boy asked.

"Um. W-well I-" He tried to say as he looked away, shyly scratching the back of his head.

"Hold on. Are you by chance THE Tsukuyomi! The Bird Knight of Darkness from UA High, class 1-A! Our sister has told us SO much about that class! Like it's a class for heroes in training, and they're building a reputation for themselves since they won the Sports Festival. And that someday she could be a part of that class!" Rhyan started explaining excitedly.

"Slow down there kiddo, give the guy a break. Think you can be a big boy and watch over your sisters until we get back?" They hear Hawks say as he placed his hand on Tokoyami's shoulder.

"Yes sir, Mr Hawks sir!" Rhyan saluted him.

"At ease, young soldier!" Hawks saluted back before leading Tokoyami out of the medical tent. When they were far enough away to where they could talk privately, He turned to face him. "The kid told me that their elder sister led the Nomu away from the civilians by leading it deeper into the building's basement. Then when you arrived, the girl used her Detection quirk to help you find their sister, in the basement's sixth floor. Can you tell me what happened after you left the kids?" He asked.

Tokoyami explained to him about the winged Nomu and how it attacked the sister. "After I had to create a diversion to get her away from the Nomu, I brought her here for treatment." He explained.

"Alright. So! Until his sisters wake up. I will leave you in charge of her younger brother until they wake up. From what he told me, she has been telling them stories of 1-A's reputation. Think you can handle it, Tokoyami?" He ordered.

"Yeah." He said.

"Even though he just met you. It seems to me like these three know a lot about you and 1-A, which tells me that she must be a student at UA. In the meantime, I have a few questions I'd like to ask Nezu when we get back to town." He said as he smiled.

During the time Rhyan's sisters were resting, Hawks asked Tokoyami's parents if the children and their elder sister could stay with him during the time of their recovery. They saw Reika and immediately agreed. Tokoyami asked Rhyan about his sisters to try to get some information as to where she's been for the past ten years. "She works at UA High School as a Custodian… Or was it a Janitor? She works there so that she can pay for us to go to school. And because she works there, oftentimes she's able to watch their training. Sometimes she wishes she could join but she says she's happy just watching everyone from afar. She could tell that everyone was having a lot of fun at the festival. But, How did you know that her name is Reika?" He explained. He looked at him with a questionable look on his face.

"W-Well… She's a childhood friend of mine, actually, my best friend. She was my first and only friend back then, but she disappeared ten years ago, when I was seven." He began. He explained in simple terms that he could understand about Reika's disappearance and the heros' call for her death, then explaining how he never gave up hope that she was still alive somewhere.

"She used to tell us stories about her friend and how she loved playing with him. He always called her Rei, she would call him Fumi, and his quirk, Shadow, because his Quirk was called 'Dark Shadow'!" He said.

Dark Shadow appeared beside Tokoyami. "You rang?" He said in a sing-song tone. He looks at Dark Shadow in awe before asking so many questions about what Dark Shadow can do and How the two of them met Reika. "How we met Rei, huh. Let's see, if I remember correctly, Tsukuyomi here met her and her adopted mother, Shrinky Dink, when he was only a year old so I hadn't awakened yet. I didn't meet her till he turned four. But Shrinky Dink and our father went to elementary and middle school together. Been best buds ever since. Our mother told us that we first met her when Shrinky Dink first brought Reika home from a recent rescue mission."

"Apparently it was that rescue mission that she first saw Rei. She knew there was something special about her and had to take her in as her own. We may not know why she took the two of you in yet, but we're damn sure that she sees something in the two of you. Just as her mother and I saw something in her." Tokoyami said.

"What was big sis like when she was little, Mr. Tsukuyomi?" He asked with sparkles in his eyes. He looks down at him, then chuckles before looking at the ground with a sigh.

"She was an odd one. I remember being so shy that I couldn't bring myself to even say hello to her whenever she would visit. But she was always so cheerful and full of life, like a warm light that guides me out of a dark abyss." He explained.

"Which was why he always followed her around like a baby bird. He also thought he needed to protect her." Dark Shadow teased as he appeared behind Tokoyami. His eyes widened as a small blush appeared on his cheeks.

"Th-That's not true! I just felt like I needed to protect her like a big brother would!" He stuttered.

They hear a knock on the door. "I wonder who that could be at this hour?" His father asked as he walked towards the door and opened it. It was Principle Nezu, Aizawa, and Hawks.

"Principle Nezu, what brings the three of you here at this hour? His mother asked.

"It's about the girl that your son rescued in Hosu and the two children that are with her." Nezu said.

The three heroes, Rhyan, Tokoyami, and his parents sat down at the kitchen table. Tokoyami used Dark Shadow to watch over Reika and the younger sister. Nezu explained to them that Reika is biologically Hawks little sister, whom he thought had died in an accident almost sixteen years ago, then explained to him about how Reika had been working at UA since she was eight so that she could get the twins and herself through elementary and middle school. Nezu and Aizawa have known about her and have been keeping an eye on her since the accident that killed Shrinky Dink but kept it secret from everyone due to the attack on Hawks. He found out about her when he saw her at the safe zone in Hosu and is wanting to adopt her and the children and pay for their schooling.

As he was hearing all of this, Tokoyami's blood began to boil. "I had just found my best friend, whom I've been searching for ten long years only to find that she's been under my beak this WHOLE time. And now that she's in my life again, you're planning to take her away from me?!" He began to say, raising his voice as he spoke.

"Calm down, Tokoyami! Nezu and I are working together to have her be a student in 1-A by recommendation. We aren't trying to take her away." Aizawa began to say.

"Until the preparations are finished for her and the childrens' adoptions as well as her enrollment, she and the children will be staying with you for the time being. Despite my better judgment, I'm sure the two of you must have a lot to catch up on. I also need to get my own home prepared for her and the kids." Hawks explained.

Rhyan moved to where he was behind Tokoyami. "We heard that you're a player and like to flirt with girls all the time. Are you gonna try to flirt with our big sissy too?" He said.

"What! Ew, No! She's my little sister. Why would I?" Hawks said in a disgusted tone. Tokoyami tried to keep himself from laughing. "Watch it kid." He glared at him.

"I guess it'll take some time for the two of them to trust you, Hawks." He said.

"We trust Tsukuyomi more than you because our big sissy trusts him with our lives and she knows that he would never hurt us." Rhyan said.

"But you just met the kid a couple days ago! How can you possibly trust him rather than a REAL HERO!" Hawks asked in a surprised tone. Tokoyami's parents and Nezu laughed.

"Fumikage. The kid woke up." They heard Dark Shadow from Fumikage's room. They look to see the girl rubbing the sleep from her eyes with Dark Shadow's hands on her shoulders.

"Rhyley, did you sleep well?" Rhyan asked with a smile. She nodded her head then bows towards Fumikage.

"Thank you so much for finding our big sissy and bringing her back safe and sound." She thanked him in a tired tone.

"Uh y-yeah. It's no problem." He said. He looks to Shadow. "How's Reika? Any changes?"

"Same as she was when we brought them here per Principle Nezu's request. But I have a feeling that she'll wake up soon." He said before he smiled.

He sighed in relief. "That's good to hear." He smiled.

"Hey, Tokoyami. Come with me." Hawks said in a serious tone as he stood up. "Let's go for a flight and let Eraserhead and Nezu talk to your parents."

"Alright." He replies. Hawks carries Tokoyami and flies him up towards a radio tower, gently setting him down on the iron flooring at the top, then lands, leaning against the tower on his back..

"You called her your 'best friend' earlier. How long exactly, have you known Reika?" He asks without looking at him.

"For as long as I can remember. My mother says that I was only a year old when I first met her and Shrinky Dink. I met them because my father and her adopted mother went to elementary and middle school together. If you want to see pictures of her as a baby, I think my mom has a photo album of her that she originally made for Shrinky Dink." He explained.

"How did Shrinky Dink get a hold of her?" He asked.

"If I remember correctly, I think it was a rescue mission at an orphanage." He began to say before looking down with an angered look and clenching his hand into a fist. "The villain had her at knife point when she wasn't even a year old. Makes me sick to my stomach."

"From the way you're acting, you sound like you truly care for her, don't you." He said and he smiled.

"She was like a little sister to us that Dark Shadow and I needed to protect her when we were little. Of course we care about her, a lot really." He said.

"Would you say that you're in love with her?" He asked as he looked at him.

He blushes slightly then looks to the side. "Though it's true that I do have feelings for her, I don't think it's that deep." He said shyly.

"Not yet anyway." They hear Dark Shadow chuckle.

He smirks. "You're a good kid, Tokoyami. Despite my opinion on taking her instead of leaving them with you, she doesn't remember me, let alone trust me. While she's known you her whole life. I'm not surprised that she trusts you as much as she does. To be honest, when I heard about the attack at the orphanage I left her at. I thought for sure she had died by that villain. So when I saw her in Hosu, it took me by surprise. Can you try to get any information about where she's been from her or the two children?" He explained.

"Trust me. I was planning that from the start, and it took me by surprise as well, seeing her there. After all these years, she's been alive this whole time. Every single day, I searched for her. I searched the news on the web. I even snuck out of the house most nights just to see if she was in our old hiding spots where we used to play. Everywhere I looked but I never found her. By the time I turned twelve, Dark Shadow started telling me to give up and that I would never find her. But I never gave up. It was as if something in my heart KNEW that she was still out there, waiting for someone to find her." Tokoyami explained.

"You don't have to tell me, but I'd like to know what she was like as a child." Hawks said as he turned to face him.

He explained to him about how Reika was as a child and how she acted. "According to my mother, when we first met, she was never scared of me. Every time I called myself a monster as a child, she would always hit my head, telling me that I wasn't a monster and that I'll never be one in her eyes." He said.

"I take it you didn't have many friends as a kid." Hawks crossed his arms. He nodded his head no.

"She was my first and only friend back then. It's because of her that I designed my cloak to be lined with her old feathers on the inside. That way she was always with me, wherever I went." He said as he smiled.

"Did she happen to have an Endeavor doll when she'd visit you?" Hawks asked.

"She would never let it go Even when she ate and slept. And she was always careful not to get any food on it when she did eat. I figured it was given to her by a member of her biological family. She once told me that it gave her comfort, even though she doesn't know where she got it from or who gave it to her." He said as he looked at the rising moon. He looked down in sadness as he sat down, leaning against the tower. "She asked me to watch over it for her the night she went to search for her mother. I've been keeping it safe for her ever since."

"I gave that Endeavor doll to her when I had to leave her at the orphanage, in hopes that she wouldn't forget her only living blood relative. It's funny, I gave the only thing I called my own, to my newborn sister. Anyway I should get you home, It's getting late and you're probably ti-." He said as he turned around only to see that Tokoyami had fallen fast asleep. Dark Shadow loomed over him. He chuckled.

"He passed out after you said that you gave her the doll." He said.

"Sorry about that, I kept him out too late. Luckily you two don't have school tomorrow." He said as he picked Tokoyami up before flying back towards his house, Dark Shadow leading the way.

"You know, if you want to talk to Reika, Fumikage, his parents and I can arrange it for you. Maybe Mr. Aizawa or Principle Nezu can help with it as well." He said.

"As much as I'd like to talk to her, I have a lot to do before then but, when I'm free, I'll stop by." Hawks said as he smiled.

When they arrived at the house, it was dark. There was a blanket and one of Tokoyami's pillows laid out on the couch for him. "I guess mom knew we'd be back late. We've been sleeping on the couch since we brought Reika home and letting the kids and her sleep in our room." Dark Shadow said as Hawks laid him down on the couch. Dark Shadow covered him up with the blanket. "He says it's just a crush, but I think he's totally falling for her. He practically stared at her for two hours straight when we first brought her home because she's grown so much in the past ten years. And it all started as a brother/sister type of bond when they were kids."
