The girls had returned to the dorms about an hour after the boys. "We're back guys! We're just in time for-! What's going on?" Hagakure asked as the girls saw Midoriya, Ida, Bakugo, and Todoroki around Tokoyami as he was holding his head in his hands and breathing heavily.
"We don't know but he's been like this since we left the school." Midoriya said with a worried tone in his voice.
"He calmed down for a little bit shortly after we came back but he just started up again a minute ago. I think Takami is the only one that can calm him down when he's like this, or so what Dark Shadow said." Todoroki said.
"So where's Bird Boy's goddamn light?!" Bakugo asked.
"He's having a panic attack. He's never had one before now. What was he doing when the signs first began to show?" Reika walks up to Tokoyami and gently places her hands over his. "Fumi? It's okay. It's Reika, your sister. I'm here now, everything's gonna be alright." She uses her thumbs to wipe his forming tears.
"He was mumbling to himself quite a lot and he made a couple attempts to walk back to the school but then turned around, as if he was arguing with himself. Dark Shadow said it was because of some dream he keeps having about you and that he hasn't slept in a couple days because of it." Ida explained.
"Of course it would be about her, he's so terrified that she'll disappear on him and not come back." Asui said.
"Could it be possible that he has PTSD and didn't tell anyone about it? Midoriya asked.
"No doubt." Asui said.
It took her a while but with the right questions of the five senses, Reika was able to calm him down. She smiles at him. "There you are." She said in a sweet tone. Tears formed in his eyes as he hugged her tightly. Once he calmed down enough, everyone headed into the Kitchen to help cook dinner. Afterwards, Yayorouzu called for a girls meeting in the living room after curfew hours.
Tokoyami fell asleep shortly after dinner, leaning his head on Reika's shoulder. She smiled and adjusted herself to where she was sitting in one corner of the couch and gently laid his head on her lap. "That should be more comfortable for him." She said.
The girls awed as he slept soundly on her lap. "Out like a light." Asui said as she smiled.
"Does that mean that he won't hear what we'll be talking about?" Yayorouzu asked.
"As long as he knows I'm close to him, he won't wake up anytime soon." Reika said as she put a blanket over him. She placed her hand on his back and slowly but gently patted it.
"Alright then, I guess we'll start. You all know what Miss Midnight said, right?" She asked. The other girls nodded. "After witnessing Tokoyami's panic attack earlier, it's come to my attention that he and Reika should not participate in the exercise. I believe that Miss Midnight and Mr Aizawa should find something else for them to do during the exercise. If the two of them participate, he may have another, even bigger panic attack than earlier. Who knows what he'll do if that happens."
"I agree. If he had a bigger panic attack than the first one. He may end up fighting friend and foe alike trying to find me, just like he does when Shadow goes out of control." Reika said as she looked at Tokoyami's sleeping form.
"With the way he guards you like you're his treasure, there's no way he would let anyone take you away from his side." Hagakure said.
"He's just doing what any big brother would normally do since mine is busy being the number two hero. Although he does need to dial it back a bit. He knows that I can take care of myself in fights." She said as she gently rubbed his back.
"Do you have any idea on why he would get an attack as bad as that?" Uraraka asked.
She nods her head no. "The only thing I know is that he hasn't been sleeping well because of some sort of nightmare he's been having. Whenever he wakes up from that he always sends Shadow to my room to make sure I'm still here." She said.
"I've seen him sleepwalking around the place almost every night as if he's looking for something, or someone. Dark Shadow would lead him back to his room before he wakes up, but sometimes he wakes up before then." Ashido said.
"With all this evidence, Miss Midnight and Mr Aizawa would have to let them do something else during the exercise." Jirou said.
"Problem is, this exercise is a huge part of our grade for the end of the year. I'm not sure if we can get out of it." Reika said.
"Are we all in agreement that one of us should mention the situation to Mr Aizawa and Miss Midnight?" Yayorouzu asked as she raised her hand. All the girls raised their hands.
"I would also suggest we mention it to Principle Nezu. Maybe he can think of something for us to do." Reika mentioned.
"That's a good Idea." Uraraka said as she smiled.
"I would say let them take care of an egg for a week as if it's their baby." Hagakure said. The girls laughed.
"Maybe in a year or two. But not now. Plus I'm already raising Rhyan and Rhyley as our little siblings and they're still little kids." Reika said as she calmed down. She looked down and petted his feathers. "And keeping our sleep walking 'Lord of Darkness' out of trouble isn't as easy as it looks."
As the girls giggled, Tokoyami began to stir in his sleep. Tears formed in his eyes as he cuddled his face closer into her stomach and wrapped his arms around her. "My…light." He mumbles.
"He must've started having a bad dream." Yayorouzu saud.
"Do you guys think it could be the same one he usually has?" Ashido asked as she looked at them.
"It's possible but it's not as bad as it usually is." Asui said.
"Takami, be honest with us. How do you REALLY feel about Tokoyami?" Uraraka asked. The girls gathered around her.
She looks at them then looks down at Tokoyami in sadness. "If I'm being completely honest with myself. I used to think of us as nothing more than siblings. Best friends that we've known since we were babies. It wasn't until Midoriya and I fought Gentle Criminal and Le Brava that I began to see Fumi in a different light, and watching him on stage playing the guitar at the festival, I realized that I-...I-...I fell in love with him. I don't know how or when it happened, maybe I've always been in love with him from the very beginning. Yet over the years I've been convincing myself that if I liked him like that it would never happen because I'm always thinking that he's in love with you, Asui. So I always tell myself that I'll never be more to him than a little sister figure." She explained, beginning to cry as she spoke.
"R-Ribbit?! Why me?!" Asui asked in a surprising tone.
"Because other than me, you and Ashido are the only girls he opens up to. He considers the both of you as good friends of his." She said as she dried her tears.
"Yes, the three of us are good friends, but that's ALL we are. There is no romance between us. I can assure you of that." Ashido said as she smiled.
"How do you know?" She asked as she looked at them.
Ashido just smiled, placed her finger in front of her lips and winked. "That's a secret." She said in a sing-song tone.
"You girls are still awake? It's past midnight and we have school in the morning." They hear Ida's voice.
"Class rep is right. We should all go to bed now." Uraraka said as she yawned.
"Alright for now this girls meeting is adjourned." Yayorouzu said.
As all the girls got up and headed into their rooms, Reika tried to move Tokoyami to where she could piggyback him to his room. But he wouldn't budge. She smiles sadly and gently pets his head. "Fumi, we have to get up so that we can go to our rooms." She said. He groaned and hugged her. "My lap isn't your full time pillow, Lord of Darkness." She crosses her arms. He sighs as she feels him sit up.
"If I'm the Lord of Darkness, then where would I be without my Lady of Light?" He asked as he gently caressed her cheek and kissed her forehead.
A bright red blush crosses her face. "Wh-What was that for?" She asked.
He gets up then looks back at her and smiles. "That's my little secret." He said as he picked her up in his arms.
"H-Hey! What are you doing? I can walk on my own." She said. He didn't answer as he walked towards his room. He gently sets her down on his bed and lays down next to her. "I know you haven't been sleeping very well because of the dream, but is this really necessary? It's against the dorm rules, you know?" She asked as he wrapped his arms around her, between her wings.
"Just for tonight Rei, Please? I don't want that nightmare to come back." He asked in a hushed tone.
She looks in his eyes then sighs. "Fine. JUST for tonight. But if we get in trouble it's on you." She said.
The next morning, Tokoyami woke up early. He got out of bed and got ready for school. He walks into the kitchen where he sees Ida and Midoriya making breakfast. "Good morning Tokoyami. How are you feeling today?" Ida asked.
"You gave us a scare last night with that panic attack." Midoriya said.
"Yes, I am much better now, thank you for asking and I'm sorry if I had worried everyone." He said.
"Takami told us that you've never had an attack before. Can you tell us what caused it?" Ida asked as he looked at him.
"To her it was my first, but I've actually had one or two attacks before that one. The one I had before last night was shortly before I found her and the twins in Hosu. That one was when I thought I lost her Endeavor doll." He explained.
"Can you tell us about the dream that you keep having?" Midoriya asked. "Dark Shadow told us that you haven't been sleeping well because of it."
"She also told us that you always sent him to her room to make sure she was still there." Ida said.
"Whenever I would wake up from the nightmare, I always feel like something's wrong so I always have him go check on her to make sure she's okay. Fearing that one day she'll disappear on me again. And not come back." He explained.
"Can you tell us about your nightmare, Tokoyami? Maybe we can get some information out of it for us to find a way to help you when she's not around." Ida explained.
As the boys were cooking breakfast, everyone but Reika was up and around. "Has anyone seen Takami, she's not in her room?" Uraraka asked as she came down the stairs.
"I saw her and Tokoyami sleeping together in his room this morning. Guess he didn't want her out of his sight since last night's panic attack. Maybe she's still sleeping from a one night stand with him." Mineta said as he grabbed a chair to get plates down from the cabinets.
Tokoyami didn't pay attention to what Mineta said but Dark Shadow came out, picked up Mineta, took him outside, and started beating him up. He comes back in minutes later with a beat up and scared looking Mineta. "Who else wants to have a turn at him." He asks as he holds him up in the air.
"ME NEXT!" Sero said as he wrapped tape around him then taped up up to the ceiling fan. "Can someone turn on the fan?"
"With pleasure." Ashido said as she rubbed her hands together with an evil smile.
"WAIT WAIT WAIT! Don't turn on the fan PLEASE! Tokoyami Don't let them do this to me! I only said that as a joke!" Mineta cried out.
"A joke that you took way too far Grape Head!" Bakugo said.
"But I just wanna know one thing? Did you do the deed with her?" Mineta asked.
Tokoyami's eye twitched. "Ashido, you may turn the fan on now." He said ignoring his question.
She made an evil laugh then turned on the switch to the fan. "Damn Dark Shadow. What exactly did you do to him?" Sato asked.
"I gave him what he deserved since the first day of school and then some." Dark Shadow said.
"Why don't we leave him up there for a day and see what happens." Sero said.
"Agreed." Everyone said in unison.
"What's going on?" They hear a tired Reika walking down the stairs as she yawns. All the girls crowded around her. Uraraka used her Quirk to lift her in the air then all the girls took her into Yayorouzu's room.
"I wonder what that was all about?" Todoroki said.
Seconds later they hear Reika yelling, sounding a bit embarrassed. "What are they doing to her?" Koda asked in a worried tone.
"She's setting things straight from what Mineta said." Tokoyami said as he flipped pancakes on the skillet.
"Is that why he's taped to the ceiling fan?" Koda asked.
"Exactly." He simply said.
As he was putting pancakes onto plates for everyone, He started making more pancakes, but this time, He handed Dark Shadow a bag of chocolate chips. "Who're you making those for?" Kirishima asked.
"For Reika. No one knows this but the teachers, Hawks, and the two of us, but today is her sixteenth birthday but she doesn't know it." Dark Shadow said as he poured the chocolate chips into the batter.
"Up until the day she disappeared, we used to celebrate her adoption day because we didn't know when her actual birthday was. When we interned for Hawks, I asked him when her birthday was." Tokoyami explained.
"So ever since we found out, Fumikage and I made a promise to each other that the two of us would always do something special for her birthdays from now on. And we don't want ANYONE telling her." Dark Shadow said.
"We should do something for her as well guys." Midoriya said as he smiled then looked around the room at all the boys.
"Like what?" Kirishima asked.
"I don't know, maybe throw her a surprise party after school." Midoria said as he looked down in thought.
"I could bake a cake for her. Is there a specific flavor she likes, Tokoyami?" Sato asked.
"As much as she loves chocolate she can only have that once a day and I'm already making her chocolate chip pancakes." Tokoyami muttered to himself.
"She likes white or yellow cake but she's not much of a frosting fan. Maybe we can try to make a whip cream type frosting, she'll like that." Dark Shadow said.
"Now all that's left is a present." Todoroki said.
"Why not just write Blue Jay a song or something." Bakugo said.
"I'm already on that with Jiro's help." Tokoyami said.
"But yours is a song to portray your love for her, not a birthday song." Dark Shadow said.
"D-Dark Shadow! You didn't need to say that out loud!" Tokoyami said in an embarrassed tone and a light blush tints his cheek feathers.
"Dude, come on! It's so obvious! The whole reason we flirted with Takami in the first place was to get a reaction from you." Kaminari said. "Besides, you know my heart is set on someone else."
"Plus when we first met her, you were always in 'Protected Brother Mode' whenever one of us would walk close to her or try to get to know her." Sero explained.
"And from what we heard last night-." Dark shadow began to say before Tokoyami held his beak shut.
"Don't. Finish. That. Sentence." He said through gritted teeth but a deeper blush crossing his cheeks.
"What did you hear last night?" Sero asked.
"It was during their girls meeting about some sort of…Exercise Mr. Aizawa and Miss Midnight are planning." He explained.
"Not that we'll worry about that later. What does Dark Shadow mean?" Kaminari asked.
"Let's just say he overheard Reika spill her true feelings for him to the other girls." Dark Shadow said.
"DARK SHADOW!" Tokoyami yelled as he blushed a deep red.
"Shadow! What are you doing to your brother now?" They hear Reika say from up the stairs.
"Nothing Rei." He said as he smiled cutely before disappearing.
"He's not causing you trouble is he, Fumi?" She asked as she looked at him.
He turns around to hide the pancake batter behind him. "No, he's fine. Just being his usual self, Rei." He said.
"Well that didn't seem suspicious at all." Jiro said sarcastically.
Kirishima, Kaminari, Sero, and Sato chuckled at Tokoyami's actions. After everyone had eaten breakfast, they all headed towards UA. School started as normal, everyone had no missing assignments or projects due. During lunch, the girls in Class A were in the bathroom together discussing the exercise. By the time the afternoon classes started, everyone sat down in their seats as Aizawa came in. "Alright class. Time to take attendance even though I know everyone's here today." He said as he looked at his clipboard. He looked around the room and noticed one seat was empty, Hagakure's. 'So, it's begun. Just as Midnight had told them.' He thought.
That night, they celebrated Reika's (actual) sixteenth birthday but they noticed that Hagakure was nowhere to be found. The next morning as school started, the students of Class A were talking amongst themselves as to where Hagakure might have gone. Once Aizawa entered the room they all looked at him. "Mr. Aizawa, Have you seen Hagakure? We haven't seen her since yesterday." Ojiro asked in a worried tone in his voice.
"Something she ate didn't agree with her so she's home sick today." He said.
The rest of the day went as normal. By the end of the day the girls headed into Miss Midnight's room for their after school class. Tokoyami tried to stay behind to watch over Reika, but Aizawa caught him and brought him back to the dorms by force. The girls came back to the dorms late that night. Tokoyami was the only one that was awake. He noticed that Jiro wasn't with the group. "Where's Jiro?" He asked.
"She stayed behind to get some extra studying done but she'll be back later." Ashido said as she smiled at him.
'What is going on during that extra class they're doing?' He thought.
The next day was the same as the day before. Aizawa told the class that Jiro had a family emergency and had to return home. During their training, Ashido was called to the office by Ectoplasm. She was in the office for the rest of the day. As all the boys walked home from UA and the girls went to their extra class. Ida called for a meeting. Once everyone got to their rooms to change, they all met up in the living room. "Something doesn't feel right. First Hagakure goes home sick, then Jiro goes home for a family emergency, and now Ashido is called to the office during our training session." Ida said.
"It could be just a coincidence." Kirishima said.
