If you've read any of my Torchwood drabbles, you'll know I live for variety and anything goes, though my writing is primarily on the fluffy side.

Dee scowled at his wage slip. "Welp, this isn't gonna stretch far. Cost of livin' keeps goin' up, and our wages stay the same. Anyone would think catchin' criminals and tryin' to keep the streets safe isn't important. Hell, the local dog catcher earns more than we do."

"We're better off than most," Ryo reminded him. "One apartment, one set of utility bills, two wages… Might not be able to go far on vacation this year, but at least we have a roof over our heads and food on the table. That's a lot more than some folks have."

"Yeah, guess I should be countin' my blessings you agreed to move in with me instead of complainin' about the state of our wages. Still, can't help wishin' sometimes we'd actually get paid what we're worth. It's no wonder so many cops haveta work side gigs."

"We could do that too. There are plenty of places that could use extra security."

"Yeah, but we work long enough hours as it is. Don't wanna give up what little free time we have; gotta keep some of it for ourselves. Life's gotta be more than just work and chores, otherwise what's the point?"
