Chapter five:
It's been three days since April passed away.
The group of three have been using stealth to watch the city and try to figure out a plan.
Donnie is sitting on a rooftop overlooking a market place. He sees Footclan members patrolling to look for anyone who disobeys Shredder. He can see Mikey in an alleyway stealthily keeping a closer eye on the patrols.
Casey on the other hand is checking out some stands trying to blend in.
The crowd does help make him not stand out in his hoodie.
Casey is doing great at just behaving as if nothing is wrong. He is also able to grab a few things that they need.
They're such a small team that there is no way that they can fight Shredder. They still have no idea about his full extent of his black magic let alone it's origin. They also still have to worry about Leo and or Raph showing up. They know things can get real ugly if they have to battle one or both of them. So they keep an eye out anytime they leave their current home location.
Donnie hears a cry and turns to its direction. He sees a woman being chased by two of the Footclan members. He isn't really sure what she had done wrong but the Footclan members seem serious. His eyes drift to Mikey and Casey who exchange looks. He turns to follow the woman's path knowing that the two would move to try to help. He might as well join. He sees the woman go into an alleyway to which Mikey and Casey follow after. He spots a broken down car blocking the way ahead.
The woman stops and turns in fear as she is advanced upon.
Donnie jumps down onto the car then leaps at the Footclan members tackling one.
Mikey leaps onto the second pulling him away from the woman.
Casey goes over to the woman to assure her that they're there to help. As well as that he'll try to get her to safety.
Donnie tries to slam his staff down on the Footclan member to knock the other out.
The enemy resists attempting to push Donnie back. He takes a swing at the other who moves his head to easily dodge it.
Out of the corner of Donnies eye he sees Casey hurry away with the woman. He is glad that they'll get to a safe location. He swings his own punch making sure to move quickly. His swing hits the enemy's jaw stunning him enough to allow Donnie to knock him out. He gets off of the other and looks for Mikey. He sees the other get up after knocking out the other. He turns to the one below him realizing that there's a chance they may have to kill.
Well possibly kill Shredders Footclan members.
Donnie knows that things have gotten very bad and it might help in the long run. He'll have to talk to the others first. He knows how big of a thing it is to do such a thing; let alone ask that the other two do as well. He just knows they might have no choice if they're to save the city. He'll talk to Casey about it first since he can take it better than Mikey would.
"Let's go meet up with Casey." Mikey suggests which snaps Donnie out of his thoughts.
Donnie nods to Mikey and the two hurry in the direction Casey was headed in. They hope that Casey managed to make it out. They make sure to be careful to not draw attention to themselves.
Casey peeks out from behind a few barrels. He spots Donnie and Mikey to which he gestures them over. He ducks back down afterwards.
Donnie and Mikey quickly head over to the spot ducking behind the barrels too.
The woman is sitting there with Casey crouching.
"I'm glad you two got away." Casey mentions sharing a smile with the two turtles.
"Thank you for saving me." The woman brings their attention to her. She looks truly grateful to them.
"You're not hurt are you?" Donnie inquires to which the woman shakes her head.
"No. Thanks to you all." The woman looks them over. "Is there any way that I can repay you for saving my life?"
The three glance to each other managing to quickly decide between one another.
"We're planning a resistance against Shredder and his minions. You're free to join or say no and try to live peacefully. We won't force you. All we ask for saving your life is that you don't tell anyone about us. Unless we allow it."
The woman looks thoughtful for a brief moment before nodding her head. "Don't worry. I won't say anything. And I'd be glad to join you in your quest. Shredder shouldn't be our leader yet he's giving us no choice." She looks away as if hurt by this. "The way of life I knew is gone because I have to watch out for his minions." She explains bringing a fist to be by her chest. She turns back to them before continuing. "I want my freedom of choice back. Shredder needs to be out of his leader position. I don't doubt he'll eventually try to lead us to war for more power."
"Great. Glad to have you on our side." Casey mentions with a happy smile.
"If it's alright with you could I stay with you during this? I'd feel a lot safer around you while helping you out." The woman admits to the three.
Casey looks hesitant about this as he isn't sure that they should reveal their hideout.
Donnie feels the same.
Mikey wants to suggest that it's okay though can tell somethings on Donnies mind.
"If you say no I understand. This is obviously a very secret plan to try to overthrow Shredder." The woman informs them. "All I can do is assure you that I won't betray you. I want the same end goal as you do. It'd be backwards for me to turn away from that."
"Alright." Donnie decides. "You can come." He does plan to keep a close eye on her to make sure it'll be okay. He just knows that they need help if they are to stop Shredder.
"Thank you. I want to grab some things from my home if that's okay." The woman looks relieved to hear the agreement.
"Make sure you have blankets and a pillow at least. We don't have proper beds right now. The only place to sleep is on the floor unfortunately."
"I have some air mattresses. I can bring a pump if we have a way to power it. It may not be a proper bed however it's better than the floor right?" The woman offers to which the three want to agree as it does sound nice.
"Donnie? Do you have a way we can power the pump?" Casey inquires looking at Donnie who looks back to him.
"We could probably sneak some power from the city. Like we did before." Donnie admits. "I know how to do so pretty well. We can bring them just in case it does work."
"Great! Consider it my first contribution to the cause." The woman sounds pleased. "It's this way to my place." She heads out being careful as she tries her best to sneak.
The three follow after her ready for them to be spotted and attacked.
The woman takes them around a corner, down an alley, past an art installation, and into a neighbourhood. "This one." She nods to an apartment building that has glass walls on its staircases. "My apartment is number 342."
"Are there any cameras?" Donnie inquires as they remain across the street in an alley. He knows that they are well hidden behind the stack of boxes.
"Yes. But only on entrances and the stairs. I can go get my stuff and come back to meet you all here."
"If you have a balcony we can get there without the stairs." Donnie points out to which the woman nods.
"Yes. I do have one. My balcony is on the third floor. It's the one with a table that has a red umbrella folded attached to it." The woman confirms to which Donnie glances to the building.
Donnie can see the mentioned balcony and is able to map out a way there. He turns to the others. "We'll climb up there. I can carry you up if you want." He offers to the woman who nods gratefully. He picks her up and holds her in one arm.
Together they all begin climbing the building using their trained skills to do so. They make it to the balcony and the woman climbs off of Donnie.
The woman unlocks the balcony door sliding it open. "You're free to come inside." She disappears into the apartment.
The three follow her and find themselves in an alright apartment.
The apartment looks to have been built within the last few years. It has a stove, a microwave, a dishwasher, and a nice open concept space. It is decorated with some art, a few anime posters, some anime figurines, and some stuffed animals.
"You should try to be quick. We shouldn't waste too much time. Also just in case anyone saw us come in here." Donnie warns to which the woman dips her head.
"I understand. I'll be quick." She moves to start when she pauses and glances back to them. "Oh. And my name is Gia." She turns away and goes starting to pack up a bag. She seems to be trying to take as little as she can with her. Showing she does have understanding of that this is the best strategy.
Casey takes the lead as soon as Gia is all set.
The three do help in carrying some stuff, mainly the air mattresses, to lessen the load.
The four get down below entering into the new lair.
Gia slightly glances around while the three put the stuff they're carrying down.
"It may not be much however we do have plans for it." Casey tells Gia who turns to him when he speaks to her. "We're gonna try to make the space work well for all of us. We'll include you since now you're a part of this."
"Thank you." Gia dips her head to this. "Let me know if there is anything I can do to help."
Donnie moves away to begin checking the walls for any sign of where to get electricity. He knows it's possible since they did it in the previous lair. He just needs to figure out this area now. He looks over the wall getting closer looks. He finds that they really do have ways to get electricity. He finds the lines in the wall that show where access to the wires was before the wall was finished. He just needs to make a hole in the wall to access these wires. He heads back to his supplies digging through it to find the battery powered tool. He pulls it out and works on the spot on the wall being careful. He gets to the spot where the wires are bringing the electricity through. "Here we go." He knows he has to be careful and do it so it's not traceable. He works a little and finally gets it done. "Okay. We can use this electricity." He tells them and helps set up the pump.
Once that is done they blow up the air mattresses so they can all sleep better.
"Finally!" Mikey sighs in content as he slightly rolls on the air mattress designated as his. "No more floor sleeping!"
"Yes." Donnie is relieved by this as well. "We will also need to begin planning." He adds. "The sooner the better."
The others mummer in agreement to this, and they set up the beds how they want before starting.
Up above...
Two figures dart through the city with ease before arriving to their location.
The light comes on illuminating them to reveal them to be Leo and Raph.
Raph moves forward and busts down the door before he and Leo enter into the home.
A man comes rushing over only to freeze with wider eyes than before at seeing the two. He turns after recovering as the two draw their weapons. He makes a break for the back door.
The two hurry after him and with Leo being faster he leaps knocking the man to the ground.
Leo holds the man down while Raph moves in to deliver the final blow.
Raph stabs the man's neck making sure he flops dead before they let go of him.
The two turn away leaving the place and head away after that. They walk along the city streets not caring about any blood on their weapons. They keep pretty focused as they know where to go by command of Shredder.
Everyone stays out of their way looking upon them with scared eyes.
A girl gasps after crossing in front of them by accident. She runs away only to tumble into an open manhole. She hits the ground of the sewer below and lets out some pained sounds.
The two turtles walk past the manhole not even bothering to check on her. They get a new order on a new target to go after by their link with Shredder. They hurry off ready to kill again. Once done they now head back to Shredder who is sitting a large dining chair that'll be his throne; at least until the one he ordered comes in.
"Excellent job." Shredder chuckles as Raph and Leo stand before. "Not that you have a choice." He smirks at this though the two don't really react. "And becoming symbols of death and fear. Oh what joy to destroy anything good you tried to build. Plus I get some free decent soldiers to do my bidding. A win win for me." He looks to the way in as a knock can be heard. He sees Karai. "What is it?"
Karai moves further inside before bowing to Shredder. "There was a spotting of the survivors. But they managed to get away."
"They didn't leave the city. Interesting. Everyone must keep a sharp eye out for them. In fact since the city is mine make wanted posters for them. We'll make them fear each step they take. Get it done right away."
"Of course." Karai nods before hurrying off to follow through with the orders.
Shredder leans back in his chair with a happy sigh. "This is truly the life. I knew I would win eventually." He adds with a slightly dark chuckle afterwards. He glances to Leo and Raph who just stand there waiting for the next orders.
The two can't do much until they are given orders due to the state forced upon them.
Shredder hums in thought before getting an idea. "You two." He speaks causing the two to turn to him. "I have another job for you two. I want the two of you to search the city. See if you can find those survivors. If you see them then kill on sight."
The two turn dashing away with those orders given to them.
Shredder chuckles darkly. "You can't run forever. I will find you."
