Chapter 25: The king of the Locci
Danny glared at Regalis, the so-called king of the locci.
The ghost boy scoffed at this being's blatant arrogance that was clear from how he presented himself.
"Lemme guess, you're the head honcho around here?..." Danny asked with an eye roll, not taking that king seriously.
He was clearly irritating the villain, who glared daggers at him.
"YOU DARE SPEAK TO THE KING OF THE GENIUS LOCCI LIKE THAT?!..." He yelled, sounding enraged.
"I've toppled the king of all ghosts... so you don't scare me..." Danny said.
"I don't intend to scare you, I only intend to SEVER YOUR HEAD FROM YOUR BODY!..." The King shouted, aiming a sword at Danny before leaping at him.
Danny quickly dodged the sword, then counterattacked with a powerful blast of his ghostly energy. Danny fired two beams from his hand, which were batted away by the king's sword.
Undaunted, the half-ghost hero lunged forward, using his speed to dodge the king's swings of his sword.
He managed to grab the sword out of the king's hand, then slammed him into the ground with a powerful ghost punch. The king cried out in pain.
"You... fool! You leave me no choice!..." The king cried, regaining his composure.
With a wave of his hand, the throne room began to shake violently.
"Earthquake?..." Danny asked, but soon saw that was not the case.
"Prepare to face the wrath of King Regalis!..." He shouted, raising his hand.
"Okay... what is this?..." Danny asked, before the sword in his hand disappeared.
"Huh?..." He went, wondering what had happened.
The sword returned to the hand of Regalis. He managed to get himself back on his feet.
"Let me show you just how foolish you were to get in the way of my revenge!..." He shouted.
"And what do you have this time? A super long monologue? Because boring me to death would be something..." Danny snarked.
"I was saving this for the Sailor Guardians, but I suppose you're the perfect guinea pig!..."He added, sounding murderous when he said that.
"And that is...?" Danny asked, but soon got is answer.
A wave of gold energy left Regalis, creating a circle surrounding them.
"Prepare to die!..." Regalis said before he seemed to be vibrating before disappearing.
Danny's eyes widened as he stepped back.
"Huh?! Where'd he go?!..." Danny questioned, since he pretty much just vanish into thin air.
Before he knew it, he saw something move in the corner of his eye, causing him to duck.
Looking over his shoulder, he saw nothing.
He was about to question it before something kicked him off the floor. He hit the floor, looking faceup before seeing a gold blur that was above him. He moved his head out of the way in time, narrowly avoiding a blade going through his face as he saw his reflection in the golden blade of Regalis.
"Hmm... your reaction speeds are greater than I expected...for a freak of nature..." Regalis said, mocking him.
"You're one to talk, you royal pain! I'm still having a hard time believing that I'm fighting what's basically a JRPG villain!..." Danny retorted, finding him more narcissistic than Vlad.
"I may not know what a JRPG is, but I do know I am more than a mere villain." Regalis said.
The ghost boy then looked up, seeing Regalis was above him, holding the golden sword in hand as he looked down, his eyes narrowed in anger.
"Wait...How'd you do that?!..." Danny asked.
"Being trapped in an abandoned castle before it was demolished gave me time to practice... like my ability to increase my speed..." Regalis said.
"Huh? Actually, don't care. Not curious enough to let you do that again. Still, I guess defeating you will cut my vacation time in half..." Danny said before aiming his hand up and firing.
Regalis disappeared before it hit. Danny thought fast and flew upward, looking left and right to see where Regalis is.
He turned intangible so that Regalis can't hurt him physically. This was a smart move, as he felt a blade swing through him, failing to cut him in half.
Regalis appeared before him, aiming his blade at Danny.
"Turn off your little trick so that I may show those Guardians what happens to those who dare to destroy my servants!..." Regalis ordered.
"Well, slicing me in two would at least give Jupiter and Venus a me of their own...but I'd rather not go through that..." Danny said sarcastically.
Regalis' head tilted forward.
"Then I will make you turn it off..." Regalis looked to the soldiers outside. "Bring the ones he calls Jupiter and Venus inside. If he wishes for his harem to live, he will listen..." He ordered, shocking Danny.
"They're not m- wait... what?!..." Danny went.
Just as the half ghost hero asked his question, he paused at what he just heard. Regalis' soldiers marched into the room and brought in giant half a dozen hourglass magic prisons with each holding one of the Sailor Guardians, Chibi-Usa and Tuxedo Mask captive.
"Danny!..." The two girls went, trying to break free.
Each of the Japanese heroes tried kicking and punching their way out of their magical hourglass prison, but all that accomplished was helping the sand on the top half to pour down on them in the bottom half of the giant hourglass.
"If you wish for them to live... return to being physical so that I may slice you in half!..." Regalis demanded.
Danny looked towards all the giant hourglass magic prisons and saw that the mystical sand didn't show any signs of stopping anytime soon. Meaning that he didn't have the luxury to waste much time in this fight.
"Okay... you win. I won't go intangible, so take your shot..." Danny said, trying to think of a backup plan.
With a snicker, the king aimed with the golden blade. He grinned wickedly at seeing the ghostly hero being forced to comply to his demands. Now was the time for him to make his kill.
"DIE!..." Regalis went, raising his sword and once again disappearing with speed.
Once he did that, Danny's pressed his foot into the floor even harder, causing ice to form and make Regalis lose his footing, sending him sliding out, crashing through some of his solders, and causing the circle to disappear.
"I said I won't go intangible! Never said I'd let you hit me!..." Danny called out.
"You insolent-..." Regalis didn't get a chance to finish his shout as he then crashed into a hard wall.
"NICE!..." Venus and Jupiter both went, cheering Danny on.
"Huh... that was... kind of clever of him..." Mars said.
"I suppose..." Tuxedo Mask admitted.
"Uh, not to sound unimpressed but... what about us being inside these?..." Moon asked, gesturing to what they were trapped in.
Thinking fast, Danny aimed his finger like a gun at the hourglasses the group were trapped in.
"Maybe if I can make cracks in them?..." He suggested, firing small shots that couldn't hurt those inside but enough to put cracks in the glass.
Each shot did as he hoped, making cracks in the hourglass near those trapped inside, with some of the sand pressing against those same cracks.
"Now what?..." Moon asked.
"Perhaps if we apply pressure to them, they'll expand and break?..." Mercury suggested.
"Worth a try..." Venus said as all of them managed to swim their way through the sand and start hitting the cracks with their fists.
It worked, the cracks grew until the lower halves broke open, causing the sand to spill and those trapped inside to slide out in the process.
"We're free!..." Moon cheered.
"Relief..." Jupiter said in a sigh.
"Thank you, Danny. Glad to be out of that stupid thing..." Venus said, appreciating Danny's help.
"Couldn't he have just phased us out?..." Mars asked.
"No time. We have locci to defeat..." Jupiter said, getting up and dusting herself clean.
Danny saw this and smiled, glad to see that then girls were free and ready to fight.
However, the locci minions saw they had escaped and readied themselves for battle.
"Stop them!..." Zecalibur aimed his sword at them.
The Sailor Guardians glared at them, clenching their fists and still angry.
"Payback time!..." Sailor Jupiter shouted as turned her attention to the armored soldiers.
Zecalibur was about to join his copies before Majisho held him back.
"It's time for... you know..." He whispered knowingly.
"Only if you promise I can carve one of them later..." Zecalibur whispered harshly back.
The girls charged at them, ready to attack.
"SUPREME THUNDER!..."
"BURNING MANDALA!..."
"CRESCENT BEAM SHOWER!..."
The three combined attacks struck down the small group of armored warriors, destroying them on the spot.
"Got 'em!..." Sailor Moon said.
The smoke cleared and it seemed to be the end of them.
"Where's the original Zecalibur? And Majisho?..." Mercury asked.
"Must've gotten them too. Wow, we're really getting good at this..." Venus said.
"I don't recall seeing them hit..." Mercury pondered.
"We could barely see anything through all that..." Venus went.
"Awesome..." Moon cheered.
Danny saw this all take place, happy to see that the girls were okay and that the battle was nearing its end.
"Looks like he's done..." He floated to the locci king.
But he was wrong.
"Not yet..." He said.
"You're still at it?..." Danny asked with an eyebrow raised.
Regalis stood up, aiming his sword at Danny. He was clearly furious that his plot wasn't working out as he expected.
"You have interrupted my revenge for the last time!..."He shouted.
"Revenge?..." Luna questioned as she and Artemis watched from afar, trying to find a way to help.
"What's that madman yelling about now?..." Artemis quietly questioned.
They were confused. They knew that the loccis had some grudge against them but there are still too many questions without answers here.
The king of the loccis glared at them.
"You won't live long enough to know anyway, so there's no point in telling any of you..." He said.
"What did we do to warrant this?..." Mars questioned, glaring at him.
"Yeah, we've never met this guy before..." Moon pointed out, before turning to Mercuryw.
"Right?..." She asked quickly.
Mercury shook her head.
"No, we have faced many monsters but I am sure we'd remember someone like this..." She said, but she wasn't the only one confused here.
"King of the Loccis... why isn't he in any historical information I heard of?..." Chibi-Usa whispered to herself.
"Just know this... you Sailor Guardians have crossed us one time too many. Many of my kin were slaughtered by you and we gathered our resources to find you and come here..." Regalis said.
"We've never met you!..." Sailor Moon called out.
"Again... I will not waste time explaining anything! Just know that our plan was perfect!..." He shouted.
"Oh yeah... send a clown, a wanna be magician and someone dressed like medieval times to hunt down school girls... real perfect there..." Danny snarked.
"But then YOU show up and ruined EVERYTHING! All our planning and efforts wasted! You weren't even supposed to meet the Original Sailor Guardians! Why are you even here! Answer me!..."Regalis demanded.
"My friend Clockwork, the ghost of time, told me to visit Japan and help the Sailor Guardians with problem. I.E. You..." Danny answered honestly, much to the complete anger of the King of Loccis.
"DON'T YOU DARE MOCK ME, HALF-GHOST BOY! A Ghost of Time?! Do you seriously expect me to believe something that ridiculous could actually exist?! I'll end you for even trying to make a fool out of me!..." Regalis shouted, now losing his patience.
"Trust me, you didn't need my help to look like a fool..." Danny mocked, striking another nerve.
Jupiter and Venus both giggled a that, but soon recalled the danger as the sands of the hourglasses they were trapped in continued raining sand on them, which was beginning to fill the bottom half of all the individual giant hourglasses.
"DIE!..." Regalis shouted, ready to destroy him now.
The two of them took battle stances and circled each other, almost daring the other to strike. The battle was not a showdown, first move could mean the disadvantage or worse.
This moment required careful consideration as Danny locked eyes with the Locci leader. Fists of ecto energy clenched tightly as blood was pumping rapidly.
"I may only have one shot at this. So I better make it count!…"Danny muttered.
Sailor Venus and Jupiter could only watch and pray as the seconds passed, feeling like hours.
"HAVE AT THEE!..." Regalis shouted.
"WHATEVER THAT MEANS!..." Danny responded equally as quick.
Once Danny the Locci leader stared down one another, time almost stood still as both hero and villain readied themselves for the next gambler of an attack.
Like the shot from around the world, something had exploded in the background, signaling the two to fight. Without hesitation, Danny lunged at the locci leader, reeling his fist for maximum momentum.
Both fighters launched themselves at one another to deliver their respective finishing attacks. His foot stomped on the ground as he still had the opportunity to strike.
With all his strength, his punch shot out like a bullet, aiming right at the head. Seconds felt like minutes as everyone watched.
The locci went wide eye as the fist connected with his face, pushing him back with such force that he fell down.
He did not get back up.
Danny blinked, staring with befuddlement as he held his arms down to entice another attack. There was no way this was going to be that easy, right?
The Locci leader's entire body turned grey then scattered into dust and disintegrated into nothing.
The shocked all the heroes and what's left of the villains. What was more shocking was that each and every last locci turned grey and were disintegrating into nothing, exactly like their leader.
And just like that…it was over?
A moment passed as the leader twitched. It was…over. Winner: Danny Phantom.
"What just happened?…"The collective heroes thought out loud, completely at a lose of what had just occurred.
A few moments later
There was an uncomfortable silence as the aftermath of the battle had arrived.
Danny and the sailor guardians all saw the locci's and their leader were defeated, seeing them all vanish into nothing like a snap.
It was like a record needle flew off the disc and into the wall.
They didn't expect it to be so easy.
"Well, that was anticlimactic..." Danny said, looking around.
It was unnerving how easy that was.
"After all that hype, I was expecting something more...intense?..."He said, still confused.
"You'd think so…"Came a voice.
Time froze as a flash of light appeared. Clockwork floated a few feet away in his adult form, over looking the end results with a small, humorous hum.
"Who is that?!..." Mars said as she, the guardians and Tuxedo Mask got defensive and ready to fight.
"Chill guys, this is Clockwork. The guy I told you about..." Danny said.
"That ghost who controls time who sent you here?..." Jupiter asked.
Danny nodded, as the ghostly master of time did a quick and brief look across the surroundings and instantly summarize what just occurred and how it was done.
"Looks like the fight went well…"Clockwork now transformed into a child form.
"Yyeeeaaah…"Danny rubbed his arm in discomfort.
"Can you remind me why I was here again? This guy went down in like one punch…and I know I am strong but not THAT strong. Not like I did 100 sit ups, 100 pushups, 100 squats, and a 10 kilometer run with nothing to eat but a banana…"He said.
"Oh, I've read that Manga too!..." Usagi commented.
"Not the time or the place to mention that Usagi..." Rei remarked, while Danny and the Ghost of Time continued their conversation.
Tuxedo Mask grabbed on to Sailor Moon to keep her quiet. Jupiter and Venus grabbed Mars to do the same, while Mercury gestured both the heroic half ghost and benevolent looking ghost to proceed.
Not that the girls were distracting from the conversation. Clockwork barely seemed to pay them any mind as his form changed to an infant.
"Well... looks like your mission is complete. As a reward, you can have another week here..." Clockwork said.
"Say what?..." Danny asked, surprised.
"Enjoy, stick around. As soon as you're ready, I'll return you to your exact point in time you were meant to return..." Clockwork said.
"You can do that?..." Danny asked, surprised.
"Usually, no. But I am willing to make an exception this time. Anyway, you enjoy your time here without worry. Everyone back home will not know... because you'll have been sent back in time to when you should have left. Just keep your phone off for now so that you don't get any... unexpected calls, nor will the other you get calls from the Sailor Guardians..." He said.
"You can't just freeze time for Amity Park? Right?..." Danny asked.
"When I freeze time, the whole universe is affected. If I paused time in one location, not that I can as it's either all or nothing, someone on the outside will notice..." Clockwork explained.
"What does that mean?…"Danny asked, but he got no answer.
The time master soon left, leaving the heroes behind to celebrate. Particularly Venus and Jupiter, who were glimpsing the ghost boy with flirty eyes.
Danny blinked in confusion, still at a bit of a lose at what just occurred before him and his new friends.
"Wasn't expecting that..." He thought.
The Sailor Guardians just watched what happened for themselves.
"So... that's the entity that oversees time?..." Mercury asked.
"He's a lot creepier than I thought he'd be..." Moon said.
"He looked like how the West depict Death... just with purple..." Mars said, creeped out.
Before anyone said anything, both Jupiter and Venus grabbed hold of Danny's right and left arms respectively. Whatever resistance Danny had to the idea of an impromptu vacation was drowned by his hormones.
"Wasn't expecting this either..." He thought, blushing as he recalled his situation with the two beautiful super heroines.
Jupiter smirked, realizing she could spend more time with him than she thought.
"Looks like we can plan for an entire week together..." She thought.
Before she could go to him and talk, Venues beat her to it as she ran and doing to a bewildered Danny.
"Isn't this great, Danny-san? Now we get a whole week to go on dates and see how amazing we are together..." Venus said in excitement.
Danny blushed and gulped.
"Uh...looking forward to it..."Danny said, sweating a bit.
Jupiter saw this and her fists clenched, jealousy bubbling inside of her.
"That girl..."She muttered as she marched over there.
She cleared her throat and crossed her arms.
"Excuse me... but I think as the first to meet him, I deserve first crack at going out with him..." She said out loud.
"Well... you lose because you snoozed..." Venus went.
"It's "you snooze, you lose", Venus..." Danny corrected.
"That too... but what matters is I got to you first!..." Venus went, holding his arm tightly.
Jupiter took his other arm and pulled him out of Venus's embrace.
"Don't forget, it's his choice who he wants to be with...and we agreed that I'd be the first one to go on a date with him!..." Jupiter said angrily before holding Danny up and embracing him herself.
"Isn't that right?..." She asks him sweetly.
Danny's face turned red.
"Uh...right..." He said, blushing.
Jupiter smiled at that.
"Looking forward to it..." She said happily, while Venus glared at her.
Danny gulped, but made no effort to leave.
"I almost hope Clockwork extends it for a year if these two are gunning for me..." He thought.
This was almost like the time he was a judge for the teen beauty pageant. Only this time, he actually had a shot with the girls flirting with him.
Now only time would tell if this would be bittersweet.
"Danny-kun!…"The girls said in unison.
The ghost boy really hoped that would not be the case. He did not want to hurt either of them.
Although the ghost boy just got himself a few extra days to spend in Japan, which was great for him to take a bit of time off to relax.
However, Danny thinks that he might be in for another stressful time, but for a whole different reason.
Back in Clockwork's lair
The Master of Time returned, his rewarding smile replaced with a serious frown.
As he hovered away from his portal, Sailor Pluto glared at him with arms crossed.
"I see you decided not to tell him the real reason you're extending his time there..." She said.
"He'll figure it out..." Clockwork said.
"Before or after someone gets hurt? I noticed he tends to save people before the worst could happen... so are you planning to wait until the last second to let him know why he's there? Or are you waiting until Jupiter or Venus go on their anniversary date with him?..." She questioned harshly.
"I assure you... he'll make it through... the real reason he's there, not the anniversary base thing..." Clockwork said with a nod.
"I have a strange feeling that things are going to get more interesting between our respective heroes..." Sailor Pluto said. "Are you certain that you aren't pulling any unnecessary strings behind the scenes?..." She asked.
"Not this time, just wait and see..." Clockwork said, knowing that his young friend looked at him suspiciously.
As they spoke, Clockwork glanced at the monitor, anticipating the real reason Danny is still there.
A reason that will surprise him, once and if he gets through those two dates.
