"I see someone stole your girl darkness. You gonna challenge him to a duel?" Angel teased as he came over with a drink. Caine merely smiled "On the contrary, a very charming gentleman asked her to dance, how could I refuse such a polite offer" Emily and Oliver were going for another dance. Fizz and Ozzy had moved back off the floor, but seeing their son, they immediately held each other fawning over the sight of him dancing with a beautiful girl. "I give em three weeks; they'll be married and he'll be making her very happy." They laughed together at the joke, but Angel would have no way of knowing how it tugged at Caine's heart. The idea of Emily and marriage had not entered his mind until that moment. His gaze softened as he watched her dancing and laughing. It should be him out there with her, holding her in his arms as they shared a romantic dance. He hadn't asked her all evening. What would she possibly think of him?

Angel was no slouch; he could see that look. He smirked but said nothing "Yep, that's one lucky boy. Excuse me darkness, Husky's calling me" He wasn't really, but Angel immediately went to him and pulled him to a secluded corner. "Hey Husky, know any romantic songs?" he nodded his head in Caine's direction and Husker got the hint. He smirked and gave Angel a knowing glance "Got you covered kid, just don't forget to save a dance for me, ok?" While that was going on, Emily was coming back with little Oliver's hand in hers "He was ever the gentleman" she smiled down at him and he smiled back before she knelt down and gave him a hug "Until our next dance" He waved goodbye and then ran off to his parents. "Two dances, and here I am and haven't even had one" he teased her, making her turn back to him "Well, the night's not over" she stood very close, their bodies almost fitting together like they were meant to.

When the lights went down he tensed and looked around, until suddenly the entire room was bathed in a stary glow, beams of light moving about the room in a slow rotation thanks to a ball that hung on the ceiling. He wasn't sure what was going on until someone tapped the microphone on stage and looked to see Husker. "Caine and Emily, this one's for you" Behind him off to the side, all their friends were standing and watching, including Sir Pentious, his hat looking like it might burst into tears at any moment. Caine was about to say something when he felt Emily take his hands just as Husker started to sing. The song was slow, perfect for a romantic dance. "You always get to ask me, so it's my turn. Will you dance with me?" Their eyes met and all he could do was nod as they walked onto the dance floor together. As soon as he had her in his arms she curled against him and laid her head over his heart, closing her eyes as they started to dance in time. It was almost overwhelming. He was surrounded by friends, acquaintances and Carmilla, but all he could see, hear and feel was her. He found himself nestling into her soft hair as he closed his eyes and let the music take them away.

Angel wiped a tear away "This is too cute, this going on my Sinstagram" he recorded the whole thing with his phone. It wasn't just them dancing, Husker singing always made him feel something. Everyone had moved off of the dance floor to give them their moment. It was a big one for the both of them. Caine wasn't the only one who'd changed. It was a celebration for the two of them after all. As Husker wound down the song they both looked at each other and as he held that final note, they met in a loving kiss, the first time they'd ever expressed their feelings in front of anyone. The whole room burst into cheers and applause, and they simply smiled at one another. Husker wasn't done however, and he slipped off the stage to go and grab Angel by the hand "Come on legs, let's show them how to really dance." Angel, caught off guard, barely managed a questioning yelp as he was tugged onto the dance floor. The spinning lights sped up and a song started he hadn't heard in ages. It was upbeat, some kind of golden oldies number. But as soon as the male started to sing, he and Husker were dancing like they never had before. When the female vocalist chimed in, Angel twirled for him, and Husker pulled him back over so they could dance closely together. It was a duet about love, about being yourself for your lover and being accepted just as they were. It was perfect and he couldn't believe Husker picked it out just for them.

They were the perfect distraction for Caine and Emily to slip away from the party. Instead of his garden, they ended up on the roof, where they could watch the night sky and just be together with the backdrop of the city and all its life behind them. Neither said anything for a long time, but Emily had to ask what was weighing on her, she just didn't know how. "You know…they're all very proud of you. For being so dedicated, for putting your whole self into this" Caine put his hands on the ledge and just leaned against it, watching the city lights beneath. He said nothing, but he heard every word. "You're doing so well…. even if you're doing it for the wrong reasons" she swallowed nervously. Again, he said nothing, but she saw his shoulders tense. "You don't have to do this for me. You should be doing it for you. For a better life, to be a better person. That's what you wanted right?" She was becoming increasingly nervous when he didn't speak, merely gazing down below.

"Caine…" but he held up his hand, needing just a moment longer to enjoy this time. "Emily, I'm doing it for me, and so I can be a man worthy of being yours. Let that be enough for tonight, please?" She came up to his side, wrapping her arms around his and resting her head against him "Ok" she whispered and watched the lights with him. After a long while he pulled the little box out of his cloak. "I was thinking of what to get you, what I could give to show that I mean it when I say I love you. That I want you to be a part of this new life, a big part of it. I settled on a bracelet, a ring didn't feel right, at least not now." He opened the box to show her the black onyx bracelet, every little stone set perfectly, a large diamond shaped one at the very center. "It has a spell on it. No matter where, no matter what, if you need me, I'll always be able to find you" She gasped when he opened the box, her fingers trailing along the length of the bracelet. It was so him, something she would look at and instantly think of him. "I don't know what to say or ask or do but…. all I know is I want you to be mine Emily, so I'm asking you, will you be?" She lifted the bracelet out of the box and had no words to describe how she felt or what was going on in her in that moment. All she could do was rush into his arms, the breeze wrapping her in his cloak as she held onto him and her gift, tightly. For a while, all either could hear were the sounds of the party, the city below. Then he heart the one thing he longed to hear all night "Yes"
