Jedi Council Chambers, Coruscant
Mace Windu watched the two clone troopers leave the chambers with a thoughtful expression on his face. They needed to start removing these chips as soon as possible. He turned to the other two Jedi and said "We need to form a list of Clone Commanders we can trust to remove these chips and keep it a secret. Plo-Koon who do you suggest?" Plo-Koon knew the answer immediately. He looked at Mace with his usual stoic expression and said "Clone Commander Wolffe, I trust him with my life and I trust him to keep my secrets." Mace nodded and looked at Yoda before asking "What about you, Master Yoda?"
Yoda was in deep thought. He cared about Commander Gree but he never really had a connection with him. The clone he had a true connection with was CC-4477 (better known as Clone Lieutenant Thire. He did everything he could to protect that squad of three clones and against all odd's they had succeeded. During that time a true connection had been formed and although Thire had not served with Yoda since then, they still maintained a strong connection through the force. Mace Windu knew his choice would be much harder. Trust was not something that came easily to him. Even after all these years Mace still distrusted Anakin. He was too impatient and headstrong. He let his emotions rule his actions. With a look up Yoda said, "A decision I have made, Clone Lieutenant Thire I have chosen." Mace should have expected this, after all, bonds forged on the battlefield tended to last.
Mace thought for a few minutes before deciding to trust Clone Commander Ponds. He had served him faithfully during the campaign to free Ryloth and he decided that he should widen his circle of trust a little bit. Mace looked at the other council members and said "I have chosen Clone Commander Ponds. In any event, we need to let the other council members know as soon as possible. This evening we will call an emergency council meeting so they can decide which leaders they want to start with." The other two Jedi nodded and they went back to discussing the war and their next steps.
Clone Trooper Barracks
Fives and Jesse were sitting in their bunks unsure of their next move. They had a few idea's but ultimately they needed to talk with Commander Cody and Boil. They knew them well and they were good friends. They trusted those two with their secrets and their lives. Unfortunately they had to wait until Skywalker and the rest of the 501st returned from Scipio before they could talk to Cody. With a sigh they went about their daily routine and waited.
Later that evening, Jedi Council Chambers
Mace Windu walked into the Jedi Council Chambers and ordered a closed session. The windows shut and the door locked. All around him sat council members in addition to Jocasta Nu. Mace Windu held up his hand and said "This meeting will now come to order." Kit Fisto cleared his throat and asked "What is this meeting about Mace? You have kept a tight lid on this so far." Mace Windu held up a small remote and pressed a button activating a holo-projection that showed the incident reports of Clone Trooper Tup and Arc Trooper Fives. He looked at the council members and asked "You have all read the reports I sent you, correct?"
He got a series of nods and he continued "Earlier today we were visited by two clones that belong to Skywalker's Legion. They were close with Arc Trooper Fives and they discovered a cover up. They removed their own chips and they suffered no ill effects. In fact nothing at all changed. They began to think about the Chancellor's explanation. He claimed that a parasite native to Ringo Vinda caused the decay of Clone Trooper Tup's inhibitor chip and that caused him to kill General Tiplar. If that was the case why did none of the other 501st become infected with this parasite. We all remember the nightmare of Geonosis and that parasite spread quickly. If half of the 501st were stationed planet side why did no other Clone Trooper become infected? These two troopers have a different theory. They believe that these inhibitor chips were placed in the clones to make them do whatever someone wanted. They studied their chips and found a small mechanical chip infused with the tissue. After they studied it further they found a list of contingency orders for the GAR. One of these orders is the reason I called this session. Order 66 states that In the event of The Jedi acting against the interests of the Republic, and after receiving specific orders verified as coming directly from the Supreme Commander (Chancellor), The GAR will remove them by lethal force, and command of the GAR will revert to the Supreme Commander (Chancellor) until a new command structure is established. It is clear that a Sith was responsible for the creation of this army. During the report of Arc Trooper Fives it is claimed that he tried to assassinate the Chancellor and the trooper said he orchestrated much of this plot. They came to Plo-Koon, Grandmaster Yoda, and myself with this information, we were understandably skeptical. That is why we have called Jocasta Nu and allowed her within this closed session to act as witness."
Jocasta Nu stepped forward and bowed "Esteemed members of the council. I examined the inhibitor chips brought by the two troopers and I can confirm this plot to be true. The information has not been altered or falsified in any way." She bowed again and stepped back. Mace Windu stepped forward again and said "We have to be proactive in removing these chips. If that order is given for any reason it could mean the end of the Jedi and the end of the Republic as a whole. Plo-Koon, Yoda, and I have already discussed an idea. We think we should come up with a list of Clone Troopers whom we trust with our secrets and let them know of this plot. They have fought with us, they have helped to defend our worlds, and they have died with us. They deserve to know the truth and have free will. They should be able to make their own choices. The three of us who discovered this plot have already come up with three troopers whom we trust. I suggest you take some serious time and do the same. After you tell them the truth and show them the proof, contact us. We need to get their chips removed as soon as possible and make all haste to remove the chips from the rest of the GAR. I don't know how much time we have but we have to do everything we can before it is too late. We have to save as many troopers as we can and hopefully stop this plot before it can happen. With that said I bid you all farewell and good luck. May the force be with you." He bowed and all of the other Jedi in the room, whether they be in person or holograms returned the bow and said "May the force be with you" back to their Master of the Order.
