(Flashback) April 30, 1998
Esmerelda was sleeping in her chambers, where she was having a nightmare. "Severus, please don't go. I don't want to lose you." She screams, as she wakes up from her sleep. Severus asks her, "Are you alright?"
They went out for a stroll in the great hall, where she told him that she had a nightmare of him getting killed. "I had a nightmare, where you were killed," said Esmerelda. "I was afraid of losing you." He asks her, "Is that why you're sleep talking?"
She nodded and said, "Yes." Esmerelda knows what would happen to Severus, and that she made a promise to herself that she'll protect him. "I already lost Amelia, and my parents. I don't want to lose you too, Severus," said Esmerelda. Severus assured her, "When the battle is over, we'll have to move into a place, where no one can find us, except for Eileen and the others."
They know that their daughter, Evelina would be safe from any dangers, without telling her about what's going on. Before they go back into their separate chambers, Esmerelda kiss Severus on the cheek and said, "I love you." Severus smile and he said, "I love you too, Esmerelda."
In her chambers, Esmerelda received a letter from her older siblings, Edwin and Esther. Edwin informs her that her cousin, Erickson had escaped from azkaban. "Oh no, what is Erickson doing this time?" As she continues reading the letter, Esmerelda felt heart beating fast, upon discovering that someone was responsible for Amelia's death.
