To my readers-I decided that instead of making 2 huge volumes of A Ketchum's journey, I decided to make them into 4 separate volumes. Volume 1 will contain the Kanto and Johto regions, Volume 2 will contain Hoenn and Sinnoh regions, Volume 3 will contain Unova and Kalos regions, last but not least, Volume 4 will contain Alola and Galar regions. I want each and every one of you to know that if you personally don't like the way I'm writing the fanfic, then you don't have to read it. I will not reach through my laptop to force you to read any fandoms that I write for because you can probably find a lot better fanfics in those fandoms over mine. Even if you can't find what you're looking for and still don't like the way I write it, then I encourage you to write your own. Happy Reading!

I DONT OWN POKEMON. I ONLY OWN MY OC AND THE CREATION OF HER REGIONAL POKEMON TEAMS. ALL REGIONAL POKEMON TEAMS WILL BE POSTED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE CHAPTERS FOR MY OC.

"Pika." said Pikachu, seeing a town in front of them.

"Mm." May said, stretching her arms before breathing out. "That smells great."

"What smells great?" asked Max. "The air pollution, garbage or the car exhaust?"

"Fresh air always smells great to me." said Hayley.

"Riolu." added Meeko.

"No, Max and definitely not that, Hayley, it's the wonderful scent of the big city." said May.

"You're right, May." said Ash. "I guess we've been travelling in the woods so long, I forgot what that smells like."

"Pikachu." Pikachu agreed.

Narrator: Still headed towards Rustboro City, our heroes have decided to sample a little urban life in Rinshin Town, their first stop in a city in quite some time.

Hayley: And I hope that I don't become like May in the next two years.

Max: I hope not.

"Like they say, you can take the girl out of the city, but you can't the city out of the girl, now can you?" asked May.

"You're asking me, the 8-year-old and her Pokémon partner, about this?" questioned Hayley.

"Riol." said Meeko.

"I don't have the answer to that, May." said Hayley as Meeko nodded.

"Now, where should we start?" May asked, ignoring Hayley and Meeko. "Maybe a little window shopping followed up with dinner at a nice restaurant, and then let's see…."

"It's been a long time since I ate a good burger." said Ash.

"Pika, Pika!" said Pikachu.

"A sandwich and some salad sounds good right about now." said Hayley.

"Olu, Olu." said Meeko.

"This would also be a good time to stock up on supplies too, so…." said Brock, thinking about the things they need as he gets out the guidebook. "All right, let's check out the town map."

"I didn't know you had that." said May, pushing Ash and Pikachu aside to get a closer look. "Quick, let's go!"

"You know, I'll be if we look really hard, we can find some cool sort of City type Pokémon." said Max.

"That sounds good, but do you think we could get something to eat first?" Ash asked Max.

"Yeah, okay." replied Max. "Then Hayley and I might as well just go with you."

"Awesome." said Ash, then turns to May and Brock. "We're gonna get something to eat, okay, guys?"

"Sounds good. Then we'll meet up back at the Pokémon center, okay?" said Brock.

"Yeah!" the others said and Brock looks at Hayley.

"I need your list, Hayley." he said.

"Here you go, Brock." said Hayley, handing him her list. "You don't have to get everything on the list, but you know how Meeko is when it comes to soap."

"You got it, Hayley." he said, smiling.

"Thanks, Brock! Olu!" said Hayley and Meeko.

Birds were chirping as workers and their Machoke were getting things done around a historical building. "Machoke." said a pair of Machoke as they carried a log on their shoulders.

"Machoke."

"Boy, this old mansion sure gives me the creeps." said a worker.

"Did you hear?" asked his friend. "Another guy…fifth worker this week just up and quit."

"There's something really weird about this old place, no doubt." said the first worker.

Another worker starts using the saw to cut down one of the trees on the property. "I can't hear ya." said Meowth, looking up at James.

"Open up those big ears." James tells Meowth.

"My ears are wide open." argued Meowth. "Why don't you open up your mouth?"

"If I open my mouth any wider, something will fly into it." James argued back.

"Well, guess what. If just might be my fist if you don't watch out." snapped Meowth.

"Oh, really?" James sarcastically asked.

"Hey, you two. Break it up." said Jessie, playing peace maker between the two. "Work the chain saw instead of your mouth. If I have to spend another minute in this jumpsuit, I'm gonna scream."

"Yes, they do have a tendency to ride up." James said, agreeing with Jessie.

"I predict Jessie's being so irritable 'cause she's hungry." said Meowth.

"Really, Meowth? Why do you say that?" asked James.

"Astute observation, see?" said Meowth.

"Get back to work or I'll give you 'astute' right between the eyes." ordered Jessie. "And besides that, I'm not hungry." Just then, her stomach growls, proving Meowth's point. "Hm? Well, maybe I could use a nibble."

"Yeah, doing all this manual labor until we catch that Pikachu and Meeko is exhausting." said Meowth.

"And until that glorious moment, I'm afraid we'll just have to work for money." said James.

"I guess you two are right, but there's just one thing." said Jessie. "What if all this heavy lifting leaves me looking more like a muscle-bound Machoke than my usual magnificence?"

"Wobbuffet." Wobbuffet said, popping out of its Pokéball.

At one of the shops in town, May looks through its window, gazing at its clothes. "Look, Brock. All of the latest styles." said May. "Aren't they great?"

"Oh, yeah, gorgeous." answered Brock.

"And all those accessories are beautiful." May said, looking at the other items that were in the window.

"You know, May, before we get too involved in clothes shopping, perhaps we should invest in some new supplies and medicine." Brock reminded her.

"Oh, Brock, later." she tells him. "The time for fashion is now."

"Obviously you don't know Hayley and Meeko well enough." said Brock, groaning as May walks away, humming. "Oh….."

"That burger really hit the spot." said Ash, rubbing his stomach.

"Pika, Pika!"

"So did the sandwich and salad." said Hayley.

"Riolu!"

"That's great, Ash and Hayley." said Max. "Now can we go looking for some Pokémon, huh?"

"Yeah, okay." said Ash as Max leads him and Hayley away.

"It's my bet that City Pokémon like to hang out in alleyways so they won't be spotted." said Max, looking down a dark alley.

"In that case," said Ash as Max giggled and looks for another alley. "it probably won't be so easy to find them, right?"

"Yeah, that's probably true." said Max, then spots something. "Wait, look there!"

"What is it?" asked Ash.

"Pikachu. Pi." said Pikachu.

"Wow." said Hayley.

Behind a wooden box, a small Pokémon hid behind it, asleep. "What kind of Pokémon's that?" Ash asked.

"It's cute, even though its sleeping." said Hayley.

"I think it's a Shroomish." said Max.

"Pikachu. Riolu." said Pikachu and Meeko.

"Well, that should be enough supplies to hold us for a while anyway." said Brock, carrying their bag of supplies.

"Exactly what supplied did you get, Brock?" May asked.

"You know, emergency provisions and ingredients to make Pokémon food and medicine if anyone's hurt." Brock explained. "That way, no matter we come up against, we'll be ready, right?"

"And what was on Hayley's list?" she then asked.

"Hayley's list was only a few things that she really needed, soap for Meeko's bath, a pencil sharpener and something cuddly for Meeko." he tells her.

"Wow, that's awesome, Brock." said May. "You're so reliable and organized."

"No one can plan for travel like me." said Brock.

"Did you say cursed?" someone in the crowd asked.

"Huh?"

May and Brock turned their attention to a man and a woman talking about the mansion. "You mean you haven't heard the news?" the woman asked. "Everybody's talking about it."

"What news?" asked May. "Are you saying this town is really cursed?"

"Hold on, May." said Brock.

"Well, you see, there's this big old mansion in town called the Green Lodge, and it's just up ahead." said the woman.

"Go on, go on." urged May.

"There's a bunch of workers there right now tearing the place apart, including the forest and its courtyard." she tells May and Brock. "They're saying that the whole place is cursed."

"Really?" asked May, feeling somewhat scared.

"There hasn't been a soul living there for years, but people keep seeing things moving around inside." the woman explained. "The workers keep finding fresh footprints in the halls all the time. And some workers say when they go inside, they can't breathe, or they get really confused and then they pass out."

"Whoa!" screamed Brock, dropping the supplies.

"So, if you know what's good for you, you'll stay away from that haunted mansion." she tells them.

"A haunted mansion, huh?" May asked, intrigued by this. "I mean, how awesome is that?"

"Shroomish." said Shroomish, hearing Max, Hayley and Ash walk up.

"I can't believe how lucky we are to find a Shroomish already." Max said excitedly as Ash pulls out Dexter.

"Hm." said Ash. "Let's see."

"Shroomish, the Mushroom Pokémon. Shroomish is mild tempered and inhabits piles of rotting leaves inside of forests." said Dexter.

"Shroo! Shroomish!" it said to the trio.

"Riolu." said Meeko, raising an eyebrow.

"It sure doesn't look too happy, though." said Max.

"What's making Shroomish look this way?" asked Hayley.

"You're right. Maybe it's hungry." said Ash.

"Well, why don't we give it some Pokémon food?" asked Max.

"Pika!" said Pikachu.

"Is that okay?" Max asked.

"It's okay with me." said Ash. "But don't you go trying to catch it."

"Let's see…." said Hayley, looking for the Pokémon food that she keeps on hand for Meeko. "Where did I put it?"

"Riol….Riol…." said Meeko, stacking Hayley's things together as Ash gets Pokémon food to hand over.

"Hey, don't worry, Ash." Max assures him. "I know that. Trust me. Nothing wrong with making a new friend, right?"

"You're right. Good point, Max." said Ash, smiling before looking at his sister and her Pokémon. "You need to clean out your backpack more often, Hayley."

"I know. It's a mess." said Hayley, handing Meeko the Pokémon food for Shroomish as she starts to put everything back.

"Okay, so here I go then." said Max with some Pokémon food in his hand. "Hi, Shroomish. How you doing? I've got some yummy Pokémon food here. So does Meeko."

"Riolu." Meeko said, showing Shroomish the canister.

"So my name's Max." Max said, introducing himself. "I'd like us to be friends."

"Shroo…." Shroomish growled at Max.

"Okay….." said Max, feeling uneasy.

"Mish!" said Shroomish, releasing an orange mist.

"Ah! That's Stun Spore!" exclaimed Ash.

"We don't have the antidote on us!" said Hayley.

"Run for it!" Ash tells the younger ones and the three of them take off.

Shroomish squeals as it continued to use Stun Spore. Back at the shops, May dragged Brock by his arm. "Ah, this is a bad idea, May." said Brock. "Let go."

"Come on." said May, holding tighter on Brock. "You're acting like a scared little girl. You know that you're not Hayley's age."

"I know, but she said the mansion was haunted." whined Brock.

"Right, and what's more fun than a haunted house?" questioned May, giggling. "Let's go check it out."

Peeking around the corner, Ash, Hayley, Meeko, Pikachu and Max looked to see that the Shroomish was still there in the alley. "Looks like Shroomish is done using Stun Spore." said Max.

"Good, now I'm gonna try giving this a shot." said Ash.

"Thank goodness. Otherwise, we would have to go to the Pokémon Center for the Salveyo Weed antidote." said Hayley.

"You know about that?" asked Max.

"Yeah, guess who breathed it in?" asked Hayley as she points to Ash.

"It wasn't fun at all when it came from a Vileplume." he said to Max before walking over to Shroomish.

"A Vileplume?" Max asked as Hayley nodded. "Yikes."

"Shroo…" said Shroomish, backing away from Ash and Pikachu.

"Now, try some of Brock's Pokémon food." said Ash. "It's really good."

"Shroo…." said Shroomish, looking at Brock's Pokémon food with some distain.

"Go ahead. I promise you'll love it." said Ash.

"Brock's Pokémon food is the best!" Hayley called out from behind Ash.

"It's been Meeko tested and approved." Ash tells Shroomish, gesturing to Meeko.

"Riolu, Olu, Olu." said Meeko, rubbing her stomach.

"Pika. Pika." Pikachu said, jumping down from Ash's shoulder.

"Shroo!" said Shroomish.

"Pika. Pika." said Pikachu, picking up a piece and showing Shroomish that Brock's Pokémon food was harmless.

"Mish…." said Shroomish, watching Pikachu eat.

"Pika! Pikachu!" Pikachu tells it.

"Shroo…." said Shroomish, taking a piece of Pokémon food from the napkin and eats it thoroughly. "Shroo, Shroo, Shroo, Shroo!"

"Pikachu!" Pikachu said, doing a little happy dance. "Pika, Pika!"

"See? I was right." said Ash, leaving Hayley a smile and Max in shock. "I've got more, so eat as much as you want to."

"Shroomish, Shroomish, Shroo!" Shroomish said, thanking Ash.

"So big deal." said Max. "I could have gotten Shroomish to eat too if I'd used Brock's Pokémon food."

"Oh yeah?" asked Hayley.

"Yeah." said Max.

"Then tell me, Mr. Know it all….what kind of Pokémon food would you make for Shroomish if it was your Pokémon?" Hayley questioned him.

"Uh….um…." said Max.

"Every Pokémon is different, Max." said Ash. "Just like Pikachu and Meeko."

"Exactly. Meeko likes to have both Pokémon food and human food at mealtimes." Hayley explained. "She always lets Brock know how much of each."

"That's why…." Max said, then looks at Meeko.

"Yeah. All Meeko wanted for lunch today was a salad." said Ash.

"A huge salad at that." said Hayley.

"Riolu." said Meeko.

"Wait, there's something stranger about this." said Max, looking around the alley.

"Uh, what?" asked Ash and Hayley.

"Don't Shroomish usually live in the forest?" asked Max.

"Yeah." said Ash.

"They normally do." said Hayley.

"Maybe it got separated from its trainer or something." said Ash. "You know, I think we should take Shroomish over to the Pokémon center."

"Yeah, okay, here." said Max, taking out a handkerchief from his pocket. "Take this."

"Hey, what's with the handkerchief?" Ash asked.

"It's a present." Max tells Ash. "There, all done. You look great."

"You look fantastic." said Hayley.

"Shroo." said Shroomish, looking up at Max's handkerchief.

"Do you like it, Shroomish?" asked Max.

"Shroomish! Shroomish! Shroomish! Shroomish! Shroomish!"

"Hey, Max, that's great." said Ash. "It looks like Shroomish really likes your present."

"And now, you and I are buddies, aren't we, Shroomish?" Max asked with a smile.

"Shroomish! Shroomish!" Shroomish said happily, returning the smile as it hops up and down.

Arriving outside the mansion, May and Brock stared outside the gates. "Look at that." May said to Brock. "It's so old and run-down."

"And so creepy." said Brock, fearfully.

"I can't wait to see the inside!" said May, walking onto the property without an ounce of fear.

"Hey!" Brock cried out to her, following May inside. "What are you doing?"

Unknown to the two, Ash, Max and Hayley were walking past the mansion. "Whoa, check out that old mansion." said Ash.

"Pika." said Pikachu.

"I wonder if anyone is going to restore it." said Hayley.

"Riol." added Meeko.

"The garden's as big as a whole forest." said Max.

"Shroo…." said Shroomish, looking longingly at the garden.

"Huh? Whats the matter, Shroomish?" asked Max.

"Mish…" it said, looking at the garden and the mansion.

"Wonder what's wrong." said Ash.

"Is something about the mansion scaring you?" asked Max.

"If it is, then it's okay to be scared." said Hayley.

On the property, Jessie spots Ash, Hayley and Max. "Huh?" she said, seeing the small trio.

"Isn't that the twerp and his sister?" asked James.

"What are they doing here?" asked Meowth.

"Mish?" Shroomish asked, then hops out of Max's arms. "Shroomish!"

"Where you going, Shroomish?" asked Max.

"Let's follow it." said Ash. "Maybe we'll see why it's so upset."

"Okay." said Max.

"Aye-Aye, Ash." said Hayley.

"Pika-Pika! Olu!"

"All right. Now it's time to implement a Pikachu and Meeko capture plan." said Jessie.

"Great." said James.

"But, Jess, what about this job?" asked Meowth.

"Please, capturing Pikachu and Meeko are more important than this part-time job." she replied.

"Of course it is." said James as he and Jessie let's go of the log.

"Whoohoo!"

"Huh? Wait!" said Meowth, still holding the log. "Hey, guys, where should I set this log down?" Just then, the weight of the log crushes Meowth. "Ooph! How about here?"

"Wow, they really let this place go, didn't they?" May asked as she and Brock were on the property. "All sorts of strange things could happen in a place like this."

"Yeah, I'm aware of that." said Brock.

"Shroo, Shroo, Shroo, Shroo, Shroo, Shroo, Shroo." said Shroomish as it walks up behind the two. "Shroo, Shroo, Shroo, Shroo…."

"Uh…." said Brock, watching Shroomish quickly run by.

"Shroomish!" shouted Shroomish as it jumps into a broken window.

"What was that Pokémon?" asked May.

"I think it might have been a…." said Brock when Ash, Jordan and Max ran up.

"Shroomish!" Max called out. "Wait up!"

"Come back here!" said Ash.

"It's Ash and Hayley." said Brock.

"And Max." said May.

"What are you guys doing here?" asked Ash. "I thought you were out buying supplies and stuff."

"Yeah…and I thought you weren't into scary places, Brock." said Hayley.

"Hey, you kids." said a man, seeing them in the garden.

"Hm?" they asked, looking at the man.

"You're not supposed to be in here." he said. "Didn't you see the signs? We're cutting down all the trees in this garden, so it's much too dangerous."

"Oh. Sorry." said Ash.

"We very sorry." said Hayley.

"It's just that a Shroomish we found came running here and we were following it." Max explained.

"Did you say Shroomish?" the man asked.

"Yeah." Ash replied.

"Sorry, but that's impossible." said the man.

"No, it's not." Ash tells him. "It was definitely a Shroomish."

"My brother's right." said Hayley. "The Shroomish ran through the garden and jumped into that window."

"And we even fed it some Pokémon food." added Max.

"But that makes no sense." said the man. "There haven't been any Shroomish in this town in ages."

"Well, that's pretty weird." said May.

"Extremely weird." said Hayley.

"You mean there used to be some?" asked Brock.

"Uh-huh." the man nodded. "When I was a little kid, there were a lot of them around this town. I used to love Shroomish."

[Flashback]

When the man was a little boy, he played with several Shroomish on the swing.

"This mansion once belonged to my grandfather, and when I was little, I used to come here often and play with the Shroomish all day long." he said.

The man was with his grandfather, watching something on TV and chased the Shroomish in the garden.

"But as the town got bigger and more and more buildings were built, the forest slowly disappeared." said the man. "Eventually, my grandfather passed away, and soon after that, all the Shroomish disappeared too."

Buildings around the mansion were built, slowly shrinking down the forest.

"The town council decided the mansion would be destroyed to make room for new buildings." the man furthered explained.

[Flashback ends]

"But then, no sooner had demolition begun, these strange things started happening." he said to the quintet. "I just came by today to check things out."

"That's quite a story." said Brock.

"When you say strange things, do you mean ghouls and ghosts, eerie footprints, and stuff like that?" May asked.

"Well, those are only rumors." said the man. "Anyway, are you boys and young lady positive that you saw a Shroomish go inside this mansion?"

"Yeah." they said.

"Riolu!" Meeko said, adamantly.

"Well, if that's the case, I'll just have to go inside of it and find out what's going on." said the man, crossing his arms.

"That's awesome." said Ash. "We'll go with you, okay?"

"Pika, Pika!" said Pikachu.

Walking inside, the mansion was coming apart at the seams. "Oh, wow! This is so exciting!" said May.

"Hey, Shroomish?" Max called out. "Come on out, Shroomish!"

"Shroomish?" Ash called out. "Where are you, Shroomish? You can come out now."

"Pika, Pika!" said Pikachu.

"Please come out and play!" said Hayley.

"Olu, Olu!" said Meeko.

"No sign of it in this part of the house." said the man. "Guess we'll just have to look further inside, huh?"

"Yeah." said Ash. Behind them, Brock starts whimpering as he grabs a hold of Hayley.

"Further inside?" questioned Brock.

"Brock! Let go! You're hurting me!" said Hayley.

"Sorry!" he said, then whimpers again.

"Riolu…" muttered Meeko, then shakes his head.

"And he's supposed to be the mature one." said Hayley. May and Max opened double doors that led to another room where Shroomish was inside.

"Mish, Mish, Mish, Mish, Mish, Mish…." said Shroomish, cowering next to a fireplace.

"Look." said Max. "Shroomish!"

"We found you." said Ash.

"See? We told you that a Shroomish came in here." said Hayley.

"Pika! Riol!" said Pikachu and Meeko.

"You were right." said the man. "There is a Shroomish."

"Mish, Mish…." said Shroomish, cowering in the corner.

"Shroomish, what's wrong?" Max asked the Pokémon. "Why did you run off like that?"

"Look, guys. Its shivering." said May. Other Shroomish joined their friend, whimpering together.

"Ah."

"There's a bunch more of 'em." said Max.

"Do you think they're afraid of something?" asked Ash.

"Pika." said Pikachu, going up to the Shroomish. "Pika, Pika?"

"Mish…." said Shroomish.

"Shroomish!" said its friends.

"You know, Shroomish normally live within the forest, right?" asked Brock.

"Yes, but as more and more of the forest has been cut down, they must have moved into the mansion." said the man.

"But now that the mansion is gonna be torn down too, where will they go?" asked May.

"Yeah, I bet that's why they're scared." said Ash.

"I don't blame them for being scared." said Hayley. "I would be scared too if that happened to our home."

"Riol, Riolu." Meeko said, nodding.

"Well, look at that." the man said, looking at the mantle.

"Huh?"

There was a picture of the man as a little boy with his grandfather, swinging on the swing with the Shroomish. "Hey, is that you with your grandfather when you were little?" asked Max.

"Yes, that is me." he replied.

"Riolu!" said Meeko, saying that he was a cute little boy as the others giggled.

"It looks to me like you both were really fond of Shroomish." said Brock, causing the man to chuckle.

"Yes, we sure were." said the man.

Suddenly, there was a huge explosion coming out from the ground. "What's that?" asked the man.

"Prepare for trouble in a cloud of dust."

"Make it double. There's no choice; you must."

"To protect the world from devastation!"

"To unite all people within our nation!"

"To denounce the evils of truth and love!"

"To extend our reach to the stars above!"

"Jessie!"

"James!"

"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!" said Jessie.

"Surrender now or prepare to fight, fight, fight!" said James.

"That's right!" said Meowth.

"Wobba, Wobba!" shouted Wobbuffet.

"Not you guys again!" shouted the quintet.

"Pikachu! Riolu!"

"Who else were you expecting?" asked James. "Go, Cacnea!"

"Cacnea!" it said, then goes and holds onto James.

"Ah! Oh, please, no hugs!" said James.

"Dude, if we're being honest here, I was expecting Eric Stuart, the guy who voices you and Brock." Hayley retorted, giving a pointed look at James. "But then again, I'm not expecting to meet him anytime soon."

"You would eventually, Hayley." said Max.

"And one day, I will." said Hayley.

"Stop playing around, James." said Jessie, ignoring what Hayley had said. "Seviper, go!"

"Seviper!" hissed Seviper.

"Cacnea!"

"Shroo?" asked the Shroomish trio.

"Pikachu, use Quick Attack now." said Ash.

"Pika!" shouted Pikachu.

"Meeko, use Bullet Punch!" said Hayley.

"Olu!" shouted Meeko, bringing up her fists.

"Shroomish! Shroomish!" shouted the Shroomish trio.

"Pika? Riol?" Pikachu and Meeko asked them.

"Cacnea? Sevi?" asked Cacnea and Seviper.

"Hey, Shroomish, what's the matter?" asked Ash. Around them, there was a rumbling sound.

"James, you feel that?" Jessie asked.

"Something is rumbling." he tells her.

"And it aint my tummy." said Meowth.

"Olu! Riol, Riol!" said Meeko.

"Where's it coming from, Meeko?" asked Hayley.

"Riol!" Meeko tells her, pointing in the direction of the rumbling.

"She's good." said Jessie.

"Ah!" screamed Meowth as a herd of Shroomish ran over him

"Look at that." said May.

"A herd of Shroomish." said Brock.

"That's more than Ash's Tauros herd." said Hayley

"They must all be loving in this mansion." Brock said.

"A stampede!" shouted Meowth.

"I think there's a fungus." said Jessie.

"And they're among us!" added James.

"Go, Seviper. Poison Tail now." said Jessie as Seviper hisses and used Poison Tail.

"Shroo!" shouted Shroomish as they were knocked back by Seviper's tail.

"Hey, stop that!" said Ash.

"Knock it off!" said Hayley.

"Cacnea, Pin Missile! Go!" said James.

"Cacnea!" screeched Cacnea, using its glowing spikes to release Pin Missile.

"Shroo!" said other Shroomish, dodging the attack. "Shroo…."

Shroomish released their Stun Spore on Team Rocket. "Mish!" shouted Shroomish as Team Rocket starts to breathe it in.

"They're using Stun Spore." said Meowth.

"Let's go, everybody." said the man. "We got to get out of here."

"Okay." said the quintet as Max picks up Shroomish.

"We'll be sticking around for a while longer." said Team Rocket, affected by the Stun Spore.

"Wobba-wah!" chimed Wobbuffet.

Once outside, everyone breathed in the fresh air. "Man, that was close." said Ash.

"Pika." said Pikachu.

"Fresh air." said Hayley.

"Riol." said Meeko.

"So all of those strange sightings and all the mysterious footprints were just coming from the Shroomish." said May.

"Guess so, and all of the workers who were feeling sick had been affected by the Stun Spore." said Brock.

"I just can't get over how many Shroomish were still inside of that mansion." said the man.

"Shroo…." Shroomish said sadly, looking at the others.

"You know what?" asked Max. "I don't think the Shroomish were scared at all. I think they're in pain."

"Pain?" asked the man.

"What kind of pain? Olu?" asked Hayley and Meeko.

"What in the world would make you think that?" he asked.

"I just know, 'cause I'm friends with them too, like you, and they told me." said Max. "The Shroomish all want to play with you again like before. They want to live here with you and be happy again."

"Shroomish. Shroo." said Shroomish, knowing that what Max actually said was true.

"I'd like that too." said the man. Outside, Team Rocket was catching their breath from breathing in the Stun Spore.

"Shroomish. What rude little Pokémon." said Jessie.

"Honestly, I'm appalled." said James. "I only thought that Meeko was rude."

"Me too, and now I think it's payback time for the little toadstools." said Meowth.

"Okay, do you have a plan, Meowth?" Jessie asked.

"One that doesn't involve us getting stunned again?" asked James.

"But does involve us capturing Pikachu and Meeko, huh?" questioned Jessie.

"Yes, I got the perfect strategy!" said Meowth, coming up with the perfect plan. "Rely on Meowth!"

"Wobbuffet!" exclaimed Wobbuffet.

"Shroomish." said the man, looking down at the Mushroom Pokémon as he takes it from Max. "Forgive me. I'm so sorry for abandoning you all."

"Shroomish-Shroo." it said, forgiving him.

"Please stop the construction." begged Max. "You've just got to stop it."

"Please understand." the man said.

"Max is right." said Brock. "Where will they all go?"

"Without this mansion, the poor Shroomish won't have any other place to live." said May.

"You'll destroy their home." said Hayley.

"Riolu." said Meeko.

"They'll all be lost." said Ash.

"Pika, Pika." said Pikachu.

"Come on, please don't tear down their home." pleaded Max.

"I'm sorry." the man said, apologetically. "It's too late to stop now."

Out of nowhere, rumbling occur as the ground begins to shake and a tree fell over. "Great. Now what's going on?" asked May.

"Three idiots chasing after Pikachu and Meeko." said Hayley.

"It's Team Rocket." said Ash and Brock.

"You got that right and we're not idiots!" said Meowth. "Now prepare for a fight."

"Stun Spore all you like." said Jessie. "We paid for the airtight protection package."

"And if it doesn't work properly, there's a money-back guarantee." said James.

"And since this machine is good at keep the air nice and Stun Spore free, we'll be helping ourselves to the whole lot of youse." added Meowth.

"Yee-ha!" shouted Team Rocket as they rammed into the wall.

"They're going to force the Shroomish out of the mansion, and then try and capture them all." said Brock.

"Oh, no, they won't." said Ash. "Ready, Pikachu?"

"Pika."

"How about you, Meeko?" asked Hayley.

"Olu!"

"Okay, one more time." said Meowth as he rams their machine against the wall again.

Feeling the vibrations, Shroomish started hopping out of the window. "Shroom, Shroom, Shroom, Shroom, Shroom." they said as they came out of the window.

"Hello there." taunted Meowth.

"Shroom!" said a Shroomish as it was plucked up from the ground.

"Shroom!" said another Shroomish. One by one, Shroomish were being picked up by Team Rocket.

"Shroom! Shroom! Shroom! Shroom!"

"Okay, Pikachu, give 'em a Thunderbolt Attack." said Ash.

"Pi…..chu!" shouted Pikachu. Once Thunderbolt had it the machine, it bounced off.

"Pika!"

"Oh no!" said Ash.

"Meeko, use Focus Punch!" said Hayley.

"Riol!" shouted Meeko, focusing all her energy into one punch only to get hurt by the machine.

"Did you think we'd forget about adding an electric-proof shield and re-enforce steel?" asked Meowth.

"Picking up the Shroomish, put them in the basket." said Jessie and James as they collected more Shroomish.

"Ah!" gasped the others as they stood there watching.

"Shroomish sailing through the sky…." said Jessie and James.

"Enough to make a grown Meowth cry." said Meowth.

"Mish!"

"Shroom!"

As more and more were thrown into the basket, the captured Shroomish whimpered and cried out in pain. "Oh…." said the man, hearing the whimper cries of the Shroomish. "Enough of this nonsense. I think it's time we all protect your home, Shroomish."

"Shroomish." Shroomish said, determined to protect its home. "Shroom. Shroomish! Shroom!"

Calling out to its friends, Shroomish and the others used Stun Spore on Team Rocket's machine to save their fellow captured friends. "Uh-oh." Ash said with concern. "The Stun Spore is moving right towards the city."

"Ah! Riol!" said Hayley and Meeko.

"Oh, help us out, Forretress. Go!" Brock said, calling out his Pokémon.

"Forretress." it said.

"Forretress, Rapid Spin." said Brock.

"Forretress." said Forretress, retracting its spikes, closing its shell and starts spinning rapidly. "Forretress."

"Forretress stopped the Stun Spore." exclaimed Max. "All right!"

"Great idea, Brock." said May.

"What a relief. Thank you." said the man. Inside the machine, Meowth starts cackling.

"This piece of machinery is our best investment ever." he said to Jessie and James. "No Stun Spore at all."

"But, Meowth, don't you think it's getting a bit stale in here?" Jessie asked him.

"We're completely sealed off and I'm feeling light-headed." said James.

"Don't you worry your light head one bit," said Meowth. "'cause fresh air is coming up. Circulation system on!"

"Huh?" said James as Meowth pressed a but to roll down the windows and he sighs in relief. "Now, that's a much-needed breath of fresh air."

Unknown to Team Rocket, they didn't realize that Meowth had accidentally let in the Stun Spore. "Huh! But that isn't…" said James, smelling the Stun Spore as it filled the machine cock pit. "We're getting Stun Spored for a second time!"

"Bad idea, Meowth." Jessie tells the cat.

"Go, Shroomish!" shouted the man. "Use your Leech Seed now!"

"Shroom! Shroom! Shroom! Shroom!" said the Shroomish, every one of them launching their Leech Seed. Jessie whimpers as vines from Shroomish's Leech Seed surrounded her body and screamed.

"Did they have to use Leech Seed too?" she asked through the pain.

"A double Stun Spore was stunning enough for one day." cried James.

"Quite impressive attack." said Meowth. "Those Leech Seed and Stun Spore are getting through our latest, greatest high-tech air filter."

"Perhaps it was the open window!" Jessie and James tells Meowth.

"Wobbuffet!" shouted Wobbuffet, feeling the pain.

"Okay, Torchic, come on out and help with those Shroomish." said May.

"Torchic, Tor." chirped Torchic.

"Use Ember." May tells Torchic.

"Torchic!" it said, releasing small fire balls from its beak, aiming at the basket.

"Shroom! Shroom! Shroom! Shroom!" shouted the captured Shroomish as they ran out of the basket for freedom.

"Pikachu, Thunder Attack!" said Ash.

"Pikachu!" shouted Pikachu.

"Meeko, Vacuum Wave!" said Hayley.

"Riolu!" screamed Meeko.

Both attacks made contact with the machine. "This has really been a stunning experience." shouted Team Rocket.

"Wobbuffet!"

The machine finally explodes, throwing Team Rocket. "Looks like Team Rocket's blasting off again!" shouted Team Rocket.

"Pikachu! Riolu!" said Pikachu and Meeko as they cheered with Torchic and Shroomish.

"Good job, everyone." said Ash.

"Torchic, Torchic."

"Hm." said the man, thinking for a moment.

"So will you have to tear down the mansion?" Max asked the man.

"Or will you restore it to its former glory?" asked Hayley.

"I'm afraid the mansion will have to be destroyed." the man tells the two youngest. "I'm sorry."

"But you can't." said Ash.

"So, what will happen to the Shroomish?" asked May.

"I'm going to plant another forest of trees and restore the whole area like it originally was for the Shroomish." he answered.

"Shroo?" asked Shroomish, then became happy by what the man was going to do. "Shroo!"

"That's a good idea. Thank you!" said Max and Hayley.

"Shroo!" said all the Shroomish.

"Shroo! Shroomish!"

"And we'll all be able to play together again." the man said to Shroomish.

"Shroomish, Shroomish." said Shroomish.

"That'll be fun, Shroomish." said Max.

"You'll get play whenever you want." said Hayley.

"Riol!" said Meeko.

"Everything turned out fine after all." said May.

"Sure did." said Ash.

"Pika, Pika!" said Pikachu.

"And they'll be back in the forest like they should be." said Brock.

The sun was setting in the sky as the quintet heads out of town. "Good-bye, all you Shroomish." Max said, waving. "See you later."

"Shroomish, Shroomish, Shroom!" they called out to Max, saying their goodbyes.

"Take care of yourselves and thanks again." said the man.

"You guys all take good care of each other too." said Ash.

"Have fun!" said Hayley.

"Bye, everyone! Take care!" said Brock.

"Enjoy the new forest!" said May.

"Pika! Pika!"

"Riolu!"
