Prologue and Explanation
I just finished binge-watching seasons 10 and 11 and understand why Chris Carter only produced 6 episodes in the first revival set. He wanted to see if there was still an appetite for the unexplained while attempting to introduce the next generation of X files agents. I believe there was enough support, but the patronage had changed in the intervening years. Moulded, one might say, morphed into something quite different, as had the world around us without anyone noticing. So, we got season 11 with our dynamic duo and finally some real answers to the mythology arc. Sculder were the same, the dynamic between our beloved agents matured along with their faces, as did the style of the show. Those introductions, designed to recall our memory only to the perinate facts, pushed along Carter's changed and updated agender. They left us with more questions than answers. A hallmark of the X-files phenomenon. Reminding us of the salient points to make that episode work, leaving out the rest of the mythology we used to tune in to week after week, eagerly awaiting the next episode, all 24 of them in a single season!
We can all agree the ultimate series ending was not conducive to the fan base's expectations. It was designed to intrigue and titivate a new generation. The final scene, or a possible new beginning, saying I wasn't satisfied only adds my voice to the vast majority.
I like most of the episodes in both seasons. Perhaps it's because I'm a nurse and have seen and worked in the pandemic firsthand. I see what the creators were aiming at and how it might come about naturally (and did in some ways a year later!). However, if I wanted a Thanos style X men, I would have binged that universe. Smoking man alive after being killed several times – Ludacris. Smoking man as a god envisaging a new world order in his image –Never. Smoking man as William's father – Impossible. The creators left us that crumb in the opening scene of S11E1 when CSM Spender stated he has two sons. If William were his, biologically, then he would have said three. Even in the end, standing on the dock, Scully knew her son was the ultimate prize in the ever-present Cancerous SOB plans. The culmination of all the experimentation with alien DNA, but we don't know whose genes were used in the creation of William.
I choose to believe Mulder's 23 chromosomes, or at least as many as were required to be the basis of his and Scully's son. After all, that Y gene had to come from someone. Timeline-wise, the little journey with the Cancer Man in En Ami(S7E15) would not have caused Scully's pregnancy, unless she were an elephant! So, what did he do to allow her to become with child? Where did the alien DNA come from? What about the psychic connection between Scully and William? How come the aliens wanted Mulder and rejected Scully in Requiem (S7E22)? Why can Mulder see dead people? A fact conveniently overlooked in the revival series.
And really, how many times can that Cigarette Sucking A-hole survive a catastrophic event and live to tell the tale? Yes, yes, he might be the master of lies and deception, but Skinner and Reyes seem to buy into his version of the truth without any evidence. An X-file in and of itself.
So, I present my new story after many years of hiatus. Oh, and I do intend to finish the others, just when is an X-file.
