Darkness enveloped the Hidden Mist village. Lighting was very scarce and only down certain walkways. It was silent, there were very few civilians living in the village because most had fled since the start of the civil war. Only the bare minimum amount of Shinobi stayed to protect the village from intruders. But that just meant it was easier for Obito and Kakashi to get in. Zabuza watched as these two masked men moved, both had experience in the way they maneuvered and how they took out guards. "I guess all that money won't have gone to waste." He thought to himself.

The three maneuvered from building to building in search for the six tails and its soon jinchuriki. They started with the major centers that weren't as well guarded and after finding no sign of the six tails they moved on to the next buildings that were more secure.

After several buildings of no six tails, they moved onto the Mizukage's estate. It was the most guarded place in the village but that meant nothing in the face of Kamui. Obito scouted the building and still found no sign of the six tails or a jinchuriki.

He reported his lack of information to Kakashi and Zabuza which left the former Mist ninja stunned. "If the six tails and Yagura aren't in the village then where would they be?"

"Yagura most likely has a safe house or an off-the-grid facility outside the village," Kakashi said.

"Yes, but without a location we can't be of any use." Obito thought of something that may help in this regard. "Sakumo," He said to Kakashi. "I'm going to do something that might gain the Mizukage's attention. You two should probably get some distance from me when I do it."

Kakashi knew Obito was going to do something stupid, "What type of signal should I wait for?"

"Fire and brimstone," Obito responded before disappearing with a black flash.

Kakashi worried about what about was going to do, "He's definitely not one for subtlety."

"You're one to talk. You're wearing a black cloak with red clouds, that doesn't exactly scream subtle." Zabuza retorted.

Konan woke up with a ragged breath. She looked at her surroundings, she was in a building lying in bed during the night. That could only have meant that the sealing was complete and she was now a full jinchuriki. She could feel the chakra of the six tails, it was so intoxicating. But it meant nothing if she died, Konan had to find a way to either disable the seal that would release the six tails or reinforce it so it wouldn't get out. The problem being Konan didn't know any sealers, except maybe Nagato but even then Nagato. But he was a several-day journey away, it was very unlikely that he'd be a factor. Though she could still send a message to him and inform him that she was coming for a visit. She created a paper bird and sent it through the window, its only purpose was to reach Nagato.

Konan looked to her left to see Anko sleeping in a different bed, Anko looked so innocent when she was sleeping. Konan lay back down, hoping Nagato would get her message.

Obito jumped onto the Mizukage's estate building, "Now to gain his attention." He performed hand signs and looked at a specific building nearby, hopefully it wasn't inhabited. He pointed two fingers at the building. In a sudden flash, the nearby building erupted into flames.

"That's one way to get his attention," Madara manifested next to Obito.

"If Yagura knows where the six tails is, I need him to tell me," Obito said.

"But you and I both know that when Yagura realizes that he's under your genjutsu he will die instantaneously."

Obito already knew this, "That's why he can't figure it out."

"The only problem is because he's a perfect jinchuriki the three tails could potentially snap him out of your genjutsu, thus killing him."

"I'll just have to be extra careful," Obito smirked from underneath his mask.

Konan had her eyes closed when she felt the ground shake, she sat up and looked out the window. A great pillar of fire could be seen. If anything was the cause of it, it had to be Obito.

"Konan? Where are we?" Anko woke up and saw Konan's face reflected off of the window.

Konan turned to Anko, "I don't know." She couldn't explain it because of the seal on her heart. "I think we were captured by the insurrectionists and saved by the Mist." Konan had to lie.

Both women looked out the window toward the great pillar of fire, both questioning what on earth was going on.

Yagura saw the pillar of fire in the Mist, "So the insurrectionists have made their move to attack the village? I suppose it's time I let loose for once." He and his Anbu agents dispersed toward the village.

Obito waited on top of the rooftop of the Mizukage's office, he created a chair using wood style.

And just as he suspected, Yagura came, with some Anbu as well. He had his claw club with him, how quant.

Yagura stared at Obito, "You're one of the Leaf Shinobi. I thought you were infiltrating the insurrectionists."

Obito stood up, "I am, but now I've been tasked with kidnapping and extracting the six tails or its jinchuriki for the insurrectionists. It's the only way I can get into their ranks."

Yagura looked at this Tobi Shinobi wearing that weird cloak, there was something strange about him. Like he'd met him before but not like he was. "Unfortunately, I can't allow that. The six tails is not something I can simply give away, it's a natural weapon of the Mist. You'll have to find another way to infiltrate their ranks."

Normally this is where Obito would leave, but he needed the whereabouts of the six tails. "Just one more thing, Lord Mizukage." Obito activated his Sharingan, trapping all of the Anbu into a genjutsu.

Obito, still having Yagura under a genjutsu from years ago, placed himself and Yagura in a void of darkness. Obito made himself appear as Madara, "Where is the six tails?"

Yagura was blank, like a machine, having no emotion in this realm, he was at Obito's mercy. He replied with no emotion, "The six tails is inside a new jinchuriki to the east at a remote facility of mine."

Obito needed more to go off of. "Who is the jinchuriki of the six tails and what do they look like?"

"The jinchuriki is a woman with short blue hair named Konan from the Hidden Leaf village." The monotone voice of Yagura echoed through the void.

Obito was taken aback, Konan was the jinchuriki? No, it couldn't be right. Surely Yagura was messing with him, there was no other explanation. Right? He needed to confirm if this was true, "Are you certain Konan is the jinchuriki?"

"Yes, I oversaw the sealing process." Yagura nodded.

"Why choose her?" Though it was in a realm made up of Obito's visual prowess, he still couldn't stop himself from being shaken.

"I selected Konan because she bore a higher chakra pool than the other three, it would mask the seal from the Leaf's sensors."

"Why!?" Obito asked, hoping it was a sick joke.

"The reason for putting a tailed beast inside a Leaf Shinobi was because of a plan the third Mizukage had, to place a cursed seal upon the heart of a Leaf Shinobi and put a tailed beast inside them like a bomb. And once they reached the Leaf the tailed beast would break from the seal and attack the Leaf. Of course, the new jinchuriki would die once the seal was broken." Yagura explained.

Obito was shaken to his core. The Mist, his blood Mist was trying to take away the only person he cared for, again. The thoughts of Konan's bright smile flooded his mind and then the thought of her blood layered upon her face just like Rin made his heart, whatever was left of it, ache. But the aching soon turned into raw anger.

Obito's Sharingan turned into the Mangekyou autonomously due to his pure rage. That rage clouded his judgment and he roared in anger, having Rin and Konan's faces overlap in his mind, he thrust his fist through Yagura's chest. Obito deactivated the genjutsu and returned to reality.

The consequences of his actions would annoy him later, for now, he needed this. The moment that he returned to reality Yagura gripped his chest and fell to one knee. Obito wiped the memory of the Anbu and disappeared into Kamui.

After Obito disappeared, Yagura struggled to breathe. His blood was no longer pumping through his heart. His Anbu tried to figure out what was wrong but they weren't health experts. There was nothing they could do but watch as Yagura died.

Obito used Kamui to travel outside the village, and to his surprise, it was behind Kakashi and Zabuza.

"It's done," Obito said.

The other two turned to him, "What do you mean?" Zabuza asked.

Obito shrugged, "The whole reason you've been fighting your civil war, it's finally over."

Kakashi didn't like how that sounded, "You didn't do what I think you did, did you?"

Obito looked Kakashi dead in the eye, "I killed the Fourth Mizukage."

Just hearing the words shook Zabuza, "Yagura's dead?! But how?!"

There was death in Obito's eye due to information he learned, "We in the Akatsuki are very powerful S-class rouge ninja, which means your mission for us is far worth the money paid. Now, when do we get paid?"

After the pillar of fire disappeared, Konan finally got the will to surrender to sleep.

But when she fell asleep she was surprised her dream was so depressing. A dark room with a cage in front of her, but there was something breathing loudly on the other side. It was high-pitched in nature.

Konan stepped closer to the cage, that's when she saw something, something large. A white almost gooey-looking creature with stubby arms and legs sat in the darkness, it had two antennae that seemed like eyes and holes around its face that seemed like a mouth. It was cute in a weird roundabout way.

"Are you my new host?" It asked with a high-pitched voice.

Konan didn't know how to respond, was this the six tails inside of her?

The creature not hearing a response said, "It's okay, I'm not as scary as the others. My name is Saiken, the six tails."

Konan didn't know the tailed beasts could be so polite, it was almost human in nature. "I'm Konan."

Saiken fell onto its side and rolled its way to the edge, it reached one of its tails through the bars. "Nice to meet you, Konan."

Konan hesitated before touching the tail in a handshake-like gesture. When Konan took her hand back it was all gooey. Saiken laughed, "Sorry, I am very slimy."

Konan smiled without knowing, she liked the tailed beast's mannerisms. But then the thought of it being sealed into the Gedo statue filled her head, which would require her death. And then there was the fact that she was a bomb if she went to the Leaf.

"Is everything okay, Miss Konan?" Saiken asked, adjusting his eyes to see her properly.

Konan sighed, "Though you don't seem bad, there's a problem that if I return to my new home you'll be released and I'll die."

Saiken felt sad hearing his vessel would die, "If it makes you feel better, I'll help you with whatever you need."

Konan looked up at the six tails' antenna, "You will?" She was confused by this sudden generosity.

"Of course. I haven't gotten to know you yet."

"You want to know me?" She didn't quite know why the tailed beast was so nice.

"Yeah. I like to know my hosts because they are as a part of me as I am with them. Plus you're so pretty." He tried forming a smile with his mouth holes.

Honestly, Konan didn't know that you could be flattered by a tailed beast until now. Maybe they weren't as bad as the legends said.

"Alright Saiken, tomorrow after we meet up with my friends we'll go meet someone who can try to fix our seal," Konan said with her arms at her side.

Saiken hit his stubby arms against his body, "Yay! Miss Konan and Saiken against the world."

Konan chuckled and found herself falling asleep with a smile. Though the road ahead of her was filled with bumps, but maybe with Saiken she stood a chance.

When morning came, Anko and Konan were escorted back to the Hidden Mist village, they were brought to the Mizukage's office but waited outside. There was a meeting between several people that Konan hadn't heard before but she did hear Kakashi and Kurenai inside.

Once the meeting concluded, Kakashi, Guy, and Kurenai walked out. They were relieved that the two were safe.

"Where have you been?" Kurenai asked.

Anko just waved her hand, "We were attacked on scout patrol last night but we were saved by some mist Shinobi and given shelter for the night."

Kakashi stepped forward, "Regardless we've been compensated for what the Mizukage offered us originally, so our mission's over."

Konan was confused, "Why?"

Kurenai spoke up, "Because the Mizukage died of a heart attack last night. The civil war is essentially over. There'll be a little ironing out for them but for now, we should return home before another battle ensues."

Everyone nodded and walked away, but Konan stood still, she couldn't go home, she needed to see Nagato.

Kakashi turned around before walking down a set of stairs like the other three, "Are you okay, Konan?"

Konan jumped at her name, "Oh, umm. Yes? No..." She couldn't lie to him but she couldn't physically tell him either. "There's a problem I need to take care of before I go back to the Leaf."

Kakashi looked at the stairs before he returned his eye to her, "If it's alright can I accompany you? I'd hate to leave you alone for days."

Konan felt like she shouldn't take him to the Rain Village but there wasn't much Kakashi didn't already know so nothing would matter at this point. "Alright." She nodded. She then passed him down the stairs. But one more question was on her mind, "Hey, what happened to Tobi?"

While the others were discovering the death of the Mizukage and the discontinuation of their mission. Obito was waiting in a tree far out from the village. His mind was a flurry of emotions. That extended to his clothing, he was still wearing his Akatsuki cloak.

"Well, that couldn't have gone any worse," Madara spoke, he wasn't happy with Obito's rashness. "Why'd you kill him?"

Obito opened his eye and looked at him, "The six tails jinchuriki died during the sealing process." Obito lied, there was venom in his voice. "Waiting a few more years for the three tails as well doesn't matter."

"Hmm." Madara didn't fully believe Obito's words but there wasn't any reason for him to lie.

As Madara was growling at Obito he noticed a man carrying the Executioner's blade. It piqued Obito's interest so he jumped down in front of the man.

The man was startled and was about to grab his sword when he remembered something, "Wait, you're the one that killed Yagura, right?"

Obito narrowed his eye, "Who's asking?"

The man bowed, "My name is Juzo Biwa, I'm a member of the seven swordsmen of the Mist. My pupil Zabuza told me of your deed, it made me think about repaying you with something of my own to give. My loyalty."

Obito thought about this, the man was practically begging to join the Akatsuki. And Obito did want someone from the Mist to join, but his eyes were on another Mist Shinobi, though he wasn't a member of the swordsmen he wielded incredible chakra. "You wish to join the Akatsuki? Very well, but before you join I wish one thing of you. Persuade Kisame Hoshigaki to join as well."

Juzo didn't know Kisame very well and had no clue as to how he'd convince someone as loyal as Kisame to leave the Mist, "How would I be able to manage that?"

"Simple. Tell him about Fuguki Suikazan. Tell him that his own master was selling information behind everyone's back. That'll sway him enough."

Juzo nodded, "After that where do we go?"

"The Hidden Rain Village. If you meet an orange-haired man wearing this cloak tell him that Madara Uchiha sent you. From there you'll be inducted into the Akatsuki." Obito said before disappearing.

Juzo had goosebumps hearing that legendary Shinobi's name. If the masked man was in fact Madara nobody would be able to dispute him with his power. But for now, Juzo was going to do as he was told, to recruit Kisame.

Obito changed his clothes in his Kamui dimension, now wearing his Leaf attire he returned and was near the Leaf village. There was something Obito had to do now, it was regarding himself for once. But this wasn't going to be easy, well, for him it would but for someone else not so much. He walked through the village gate and was greeted by the guards. Obito meekly waved at them and made his way to the hospital.

The hospital was as drab and depressing as ever, but this time he wanted to be here. He walked up to the receptionist, "Hello, I need to schedule a surgery today, there's a wart on my heart that's starting to cause me pain."

The receptionist looked at a clipboard and looked back up, "There's an opening at four o'clock with Miss Fukue. Is that alright for you?"

Obito nodded, "As long as it's today I'm fine."

Madara's spirit manifested behind the receptionist, "What exactly is the point of this, Obito? You're young and healthy, there's no need for such frivolous visits to the hospital. Let alone surgery."

Obito just glared at Madara, the puzzle pieces were finally fitting. If Obito was right then the past six years of his life were a lie. And he surely wouldn't know what to do after that.
