Chapter 1: Egg Trouble

(Tabuu's palace in Subspace)

Tabuu was standing in his room while continuing to write symbols in this pentagram on the floor. The Celestial Sundial was placed in the center, but Tabuu seemed angry about leaving empty spacing in the pentagram. After a few minutes, Empress Sirin entered the room with Sir Grodus behind her.

Empress Sirin- Uh…Tabuu…

Tabuu- WHAT?!

Empress Sirin and Sir Grodus almost jumped back when Tabuu yelled. But luckily for them, Tabuu quickly calmed himself down and spoke calmly.

Tabuu- Sorry about that. I was just really into this project of mine.

Sir Grodus- I can tell since you practically turned your room into what appears to be a summoning circle.

Tabuu- Trust me…this isn't a summoning circle. It's actually backdoor.

Empress Sirin- A backdoor to what, exactly?

Tabuu- I've already told Vaati and the Quinking when I sent them to retrieve the Celestial Sundial, I can't tell you…yet that is…

Then Sir Grodus took a look at the floor and noticed something odd.

Sir Grodus- Well…your backdoor won't work. You've left several parts blank where certain runes should be.

Then Tabuu pressed his face up to Sir Grodus' face and glared at him.

Tabuu- You think I don't know that, Grodus. But that's why I asked you and the Empress Sirin to my room. Like how I sent Vaati and the Quinking to bring me an item required for my backdoor to work. One that has the correct runes I'm looking for.

Empress Sirin- That right! You said something about a tome in a stone tower in Sequin Land.

Tabuu- The Tome of Asarius to be precise. One of the forbidden spell books Merlin kept locked away in his tower. Even from his apprentices like Azra.

Sir Grodus- I've heard of the so-called Merlin the Great. Shantae even has that one gem on her tiara called the Eye of Merlin she can used to boost her magic. But not even Merlin's magic or knowledge of ancient secrets could compare to you, Tabuu. What could this tome possibly have that you don't?

Tabuu- As you've pointed out, Grodus, there are several blanks in this sigil. I don't know the characters to put in the empty spaces as embarrassed as I am to admit it. Anyway, the Tome of Asarius has detailed coordinates to infinite worlds. Sort of a map to the Multiverse. But that's what I need that spell book for.

Sir Grodus- Still odd that there is a tome Merlin had that had secrets you don't know about.

Tabuu- Actually, that tome was created before even my father was born. And that's saying a lot, considering how old the old man is. And that's why I want you and the Empress Sirin to retrieve the Tome of Asarius for me. I can't leave Subspace or I'd risk letting Mario and the others know I am at my full strength and that I'm up to something.

Empress Sirin- But why are you still refusing to tell us what your plan is? How are we supposed to help you carry this out if you keep us in the dark?

Tabuu- Because you might slip during your fight with Shantae.

Empress Sirin- Huh…?

Tabuu- Call it a hunch, but I just know you'll encounter Shantae and at least one other member of the Super Mario Brothers' Team during your mission. Chances are Shantae will try to get you say something to give them a hint as to what I'm planning to do. And believe me, Mario getting involved before I've…dealt…with a certain someone. That's all I'll tell you for now. But since this is the last item I require for my backdoor to work, I might tell you what I'm truly planning if things go smoothly. Now then, get going!

Sir Grodus- Yes, Master Tabuu! Let's go, Empress Sirin!

After Empress Sirin and Sir Grodus left Tabuu's room, Tabuu looked at the scar on his left palm where Marco Mario had stabbed him.

Tabuu- Just you wait…because I'll be coming for you very soon…

(Risky Boots' hideout in Sequin Land)

Shantae and Yoshi were engaged in battle with Risky Boots' Tinkertub. The Tinkertub launches some explosives and knocks Shantae back a couple of feet next to where Yoshi was standing.

Risky Boots- What's the big deal? It was just a couple of eggs.

Yoshi- Those unborn Yoshi children! Mean pirate lady kidnap Yoshi children from parents! Parents upset and beg Yoshi to bring them back!

Risky Boots- So lay more eggs. I've seen you lay eggs all the time. Which is strange because you're also a male dinosaur.

Yoshi- Those egg bombs, not Yoshi children! And mean pirate lady no want know how Yoshi lay eggs. It not appropriate.

Shantae- Why do you even want those Yoshi eggs anyway?

Risky Boots- People will be willing to pay big money for a dinosaur, since they're believed to be extinct. And I could use the money since you and those other heroes have been ruining the profit from my pirate raids! It costs a lot of money to feed my poor Tinkerbats and repair my pirate ship after the damages it takes from you! I even had to stoop to selling scrap machine parts from my previously destroyed weapons to that egghead just to feed my crew.

Shantae- I know Eggman is Sonic's department, but what would Eggman want with that?

Risky Boots- Don't know, don't care. But back to disposing you both…

Then several explosives were launched from the Tinkertub and they were aimed at Yoshi and Shantae. Luckily, they managed to dodge before they missiles could hit. Then Yoshi launched his tongue at one of the Tinkertub's legs and suddenly, Yoshi began spinning around the Tinkertub, wrapping his tongue around its legs completely.

Risky Boots- What the…?

Risky Boots tried to separate the Tinkertub's legs, but Yoshi's tongue had them bounded too tightly together. Not only that, but trying to move them caused the Tinkertub to trip and fall over. This also caused Risky Boots to fall over and drop the container holding the six Yoshi eggs she stole. Before Risky could do anything, Shantae turned into Elephant Shantae and rammed into Risky Boots, sending her flying into the distance. After Risky Boots was sent blasting off like another group does, Elephant Shantae changed back to normal Shantae and looked at Yoshi.

Shantae- Did you get that idea to tangle those mechanical legs from Star Wars?

Yoshi- What Star Wars?

Shantae- Never mind.

Then Yoshi looked up and saw the six Yoshi eggs felling from above.

Yoshi- The eggs!

Shantae- Don't worry! I got them, Yoshi!

Then Shantae quickly caught one before it hit the ground with one hand. Then she quickly caught another with her other hand, one with her right foot, and two with her hair. But Yoshi managed to catch the sixth with his tongue just before it hit the ground.

Shantae- Nice catch, Yoshi!

Yoshi gently placed the egg down while Shantae did the same with the other five Yoshi eggs.

Yoshi- Yoshi child's mama hit Yoshi in nuts if Yoshi let egg go splat. But Yoshi thank Shantae for helping Yoshi get eggs back.

Shantae- Well, when you mentioned Risky Boots was the one who stole them, I knew it had to be trouble. But I was expecting a little more than her wanting to sell the eggs to make money. I figured she was up to something more sinister.

Yoshi- But how Yoshi gonna safely return Yoshi eggs back to Yoshi Island?

Shantae- Maybe we should ask Uncle Mimic for suggestions.
