The Traveler
A Star Wars Story
A/N: To clarify I know nothing of the Star wars comics. I only know of the movies, spin offs, such as Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, The Mandalorian, and Ahsoka. Not all of these will actually appear in this fanfic. I am making this based off A New Hope. Though it may reference a few series. I might even make a few spin off story lines. Especially since this story won't be dealing (much) with the time travel aspect I have thrown into this fic. The time travel aspect will mostly be talked about. It may be used here and there but not much. Rated M for content.

Fearing the worst for her husband Padmé brings the only thing that can possibly make him question his actions. Sadly the worst happens. 19 years later the unknown daughter of Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala emerges from a remote place on Naboo answering the call from a strange voice that has guided her all her life. The funny thing about this voice? Like her, he is also called Jinn. This is the story of Jinn Wan Skywalker.

He had failed. Still, he didn't actually care about the stupid plans that had been lost due to the rebellions interference. At least his master had been pleased with the capture of Princess Leia Organa. Though that didn't mean he hadn't paid the price for his failure.
It wasn't like he wasn't used to the pain of Palpatine's force lightening by now anyway.
It's almost a pity that the emperor showed the mercy of sparring his life. He didn't much care for his life anymore anyway. Especially since that night. A night that as he soaked in the bacta tank in a sleep. Visited him with flashes of color, sounds, and tortured screams. Despite knowing it's a dream or memory. It feels so real.
A familiar ship.
His wife's face.
"I saw your ship! What are you doing out here?" He asked concerned. She shouldn't have come out here! Not alone, especially when she was pregnant. That was when he noticed that it wasn't just her signature and the baby he was picking up on. Another signature one he faintly recognized.
"Is-"
"Oh, yes, Jinn!"
Padmé turned toward the ship calling to the young girl who was shyly hiding behind the door. Over the past three years since she was born. Padmé had visited. Not bearing the thought of not being able to see her baby at all. Anakin visited with her only twice. Having to deal with the clone wars on the front lines offered little time to see his daughter.
"It's alright, darling, you can come out. Daddy is here, see just like I told you." Padmé cooed at the shy brown headed girl who peaked out from the open door of the ship.
Anakin made eye contact with the same, yet different from his own blue eyes. He knelt down just as the little girl ran from the ship with a squeal.
"Daddy! I missed you!"
"I missed you too, sweetheart." He said softly as he took her in his arms.
"I was so worried about you! Obi-Wan... told me terrible things." Padmé whispered softly keeping her voice low.
"What things?" Anakin snapped defensively. Noticing her husband grow tense despite the fact that he was still holding their daughter made Padmé uneasy. Still, they had never kept secrets from one another. At least one like this.
Besides, Ani was holding their daughter. The simple mention of their daughter alone had calmed him in the past.
"He said... you've turned to the Dark Side, that you... killed younglings!" Her voice broke at the end. The thought alone crushed her.
"Obi-Wan is trying to turn you against me." Anakin's voice turned colder at the reminder. Guilt filled him as Jinn shook her head against his shoulder. Great, it appeared his daughter knew the truth about him.
"He cares about us!" Padmé is desperate now. He could feel it in her aura. Her voice pleaded with him to listen. Still, listening wasn't exactly a strength of his.
"Us?" Betrayal! She had betrayed him! Their daughter's safety was now in jeopardy. Anakin gently sat Jinn down. She moved standing between them. Anakin could sense her confusion. Though she scurried over to her mother's side.
He was slightly hurt.
Did his own flesh and blood fear him as well as his wife not trusting him?
"He knows. He wants to help you. Anakin, all I want is your love." Padmé confessed as she moved closer to him. Reaching for him. He moved as the tips of her fingers brushed against his cheek.
"Love won't save you, Padmé. Only my new powers can do that." He tried to convince her, but of course she wouldn't be swayed so easily. Much less let him manipulate her with his own personal fears.
"At what cost? You're a good person. Don't do this!" She's begging now. Something that he knows is beneath his beautiful wife.
"I won't lose you the way I lost my mother. I am becoming more powerful than any Jedi has ever dreamed of, and I'm doing it for you... to protect you." He's trying to justify it all now.
"Come away with me. Help me raise our children. Leave everything else behind while we still can!" She draws a good bargain. He glances at his daughter and to where their child rests within Padmé.
His mind flashes back to the nightmare.
He won't let it become a reality.
"Don't you see? We don't have to run away anymore. I have brought peace to the Republic. I am more powerful than the Chancellor; I... I can overthrow him. And together, you and I can rule the galaxy... make things the way we want them to be!" In vain he still tries to reason barely noticing his daughter staring at him intently as if waiting for something.
"I don't believe what I'm hearing! Obi-Wan was right... you've changed!" Padmé says in disbelief.
Anger filled him at her statement.
"I don't want to hear anymore about Obi-Wan. The Jedi turned against me. Don't you turn against me!" He's honestly trying not to be harsh. Still, she flinched as he came closer to her. He paused in his footsteps waiting for a response.
"I don't know you anymore! Anakin... you're breaking my heart! You're going down a path I can't follow!" She's crying now and defeat begins to set in.
"Because of Obi-Wan?" He questioned the hot air around him seems to only increase the rage that is setting in him.
"Because of what you've done... what you plan to do! Stop! Stop now... come back! I love you!" Her plea falls on deaf ears. As he notices Obi-Wan standing in the doorway of the ship.
"Liar!" He shouts as she turns to see what he sees.
Now he knows the truth.
She had indeed betrayed him.
"No!" She gasped as he turned with to her. He raised his hand and used the force against his own wife.
"You're with him! You've brought him here to kill me!" He exclaimed tightening his fingers into a fist.
"Anakin..." Trying to reach him once more. Even as she choked on her own breath.
"Let... her... go!" Obi-Wan said as he ignited his saber for a fight.
"Daddy!" It's the voice of his daughter who makes him realize what he's done. Quickly he lowered his wife to the ground as he released his grip on her.
"No!" Jinn screams as Anakin ignites his own blade. She moves just as Anakin goes to attack. At the same time Anakin moves. Obi-Wan watches in horror as Anakin doesn't seem to notice in time. He's stuck frozen just as Anakin moves trying to move his blade out of the way.
Only thing is.
Anakin moves a bit too late.
The blade makes contact with Jinns face. Right where her blue eyes are.
Jinn screams as Anakin hurriedly deactivates his blade. Catching her in his arms as she passes out. Looking at the deep wound caused by his own lightsaber. Obi-Wan moves from the ship catching Anakin's attention. Gently he lowers his daughter to the ground. Then he slowly stands heaving. Wiping away tears before turning to face Obi-Wan Kenobi.
'It's his fault.' Anakin theorized internally, 'If he hadn't interfered neither his wife nor daughter would currently be injured.'
"YOU TURNED THEM AGAINST ME!?" He roars and ignites his blade once again.
"You have done that yourself." Obi-Wan declares as he ignited his own blade.
Their blades interlock.
Words, some his own and some belonging to Obi-Wan Kenobi echoed around him as the surroundings blurred together.
"YOU WILL NOT TAKE THEM FROM ME!!!"
"Your anger and your lust for power have already done that."
"You have allowed this dark lord to twist your mind until now...until now, you have become the very thing you swore to destroy"
"Don't lecture me, Obi-Wan; I see through the lies of the Jedi...I do not fear the dark side as you do!"
"I have brought peace...freedom...justice, and security to my new empire."
"Your new empire!?"
Faster, and faster everything blurs together.
"Don't make me kill you!"
"Anakin, my allegiance...is to the Republic! To DEMOCRACY!"
"If you're not with me...then you are my enemy."
"Only a sith deals in absolutes...I will do what I must."
"you will try."
"I have failed you, Anakin!"
"I have failed you!"
"I should've known the Jedi were plotting to take over!"
"Anakin; Chancellor Palpatine is evil!"
"From my point of view, the Jedi are evil!"
"...WELL THEN YOU ARE LOST!"
"..this is the end for you, my master."
The battle rages on
"It's over, Anakin!"
"I have the high ground!"
"You underestimate my power...!"
"...don't try it..."
That had been a warning.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH" A scream from somewhere in the distance, or was he the one screaming?
"YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE!!"
"IT WAS SAID THAT YOU WOULD DESTROY THE SITH, NOT JOIN THEM!"
"TO BRING BALANCE TO THE FORCE; NOT LEAVE IT IN DARKNESS!"
"I HATE YOU!!!"
"You were my brother, Anakin...I loved you...!"
The words echoed in his mind as his body slowly awakened. Unknown to him across the stars those same memories plague Obi-Wan Kenobi yet again.
Location change: Tatooine, Obi-Wan Kenobi currently lives in a hut. Using the alias as Ben Kenobi has just awakened from the very same memories.

"Blasted memories." He muttered as he sat up on the side of his bed.
"You shouldn't curse memories, Obi-Wan, you ought to remember that without our memories we may as well cease to exist. It is after all our memories that make us who we are." Sighing, Obi-Wan turned to see the force ghost of Qui-Gon Jinn.
"Don't you have a new Padawan to be teaching those wise sayings to?" He asked sarcastically.
"Unlike you, and your previous padawan. Jinn actually enjoys my critic wisdom. More often than not actually she stuns me with her own. Though it shouldn't be surprising considering the specific training I had started." Obi-Wans lips twitch.
"Though she has had her own adventures. You can't tell me that what she does isn't reckless. Not just outside of Naboo, you have explained many times that she is so intuitively connected to the force that she can use it to travel not only to the past, but to the future as well as traveling back to the present." He commented stroking his beard.
"I must admit that in the beginning there were close calls, but she is connected to the force. Beyond even Anakin's connection. Dare I say Yoda's connection as well. She has done well. She knows what to change and what to not change. She can only interact in small ways, and she messes with the future less often than the past. It's not like she does it often anyway. She's more connected with the present." Qui-Gon Jinn is quick to explain.
"Still, Master Qui-Gon, messing with time at all is extremely dangerous! The council most definitely wouldn't have approved. Much less would they approve of the way you've trained her!"
Qui-Gon levels Obi-Wan with a look.
"Why do you think that I do it, Obi-Wan? The council failed long ago. If you will excuse me. I will be going. Since you seem to not want my help in dealing with distant echoes of the past."
Obi-Wan sighed again as the force ghost disappeared.
Was this his life? Completing the secret training of becoming a force ghost? Hidden in plain sight from the empire. If they looked closely. Especially if Vader caught wind of his current alias. Perhaps he was just waiting for something or someone to find him.
Location change: Naboo, Naberrie household.
"Jinn! Breakfast is ready!" Jobal called from the kitchen as she sat three plates at the table. Ruwee, her husband peaked in the opened back door. Jobal groaned at the mischief in his gaze.
"Again?" She huffed picking up the dishes and taking them outside to the garden.
"Hey, she's a good worker. This place hasn't looked better. She appreciates the garden. Takes after her mother." He commented.
"She just doesn't have the patience for politics. Much like her father." Jobel sighed softly. Of course she had known Anakin Skywalker was her daughter's husband. Padmé could fool anyone else. Except for her parents. Though both didn't know exactly what happened to cause their daughter's death. Nor Anakin's disappearance, but both had a suspicion.
After all why was imperial control so lax around Naboo. Though not as lax as the past few years. The empire has updated control over the years. Still around their region it was surprisingly lax. Jobel and Ruwee were almost certain. Anakin Skywalker wasn't dead. No, he had become something far worse than being simply dead.
The couple are brought back to the present as their young granddaughter made her way to them. How she knew exactly where they were was something both put to her force sensitivity.
"You're a mess, and that was one of your mother's best gowns!" Jobel scolded lightly as the three took a seat at the table. "Oh no you don't," She continued as she grabbed her hand.
"Let's get you cleaned up." She fussed as she got up and guided her into the house.
"The fabric feels nice, what color is it?" Jinn questioned after she cleaned up in the refresher. While her grandmother as usual pulled out three gowns. Letting her choose what to wear.
"It's blue." Jobel answered as she wrapped a fresh clean piece of thin fabric around Jinns eyes.
"Like the sky? Or..." The flash of a face entered her mind. Chin length blonde hair, and piercing eyes.
"You remember him?" Jobel quietly asked.
"And you say I read minds. Yes, flashes mostly, sounds, I remember his face, and I remember that he was kind."
"He was at one time. Now do you want this one or not."
Jinn nodded and took the gown back into the refresher.
She smiled when she walked back out.
"We best get out there before gramps eats all the food." Jobel laughed at her statement guiding Jinn back outside. She still couldn't believe that Jinn got away with calling her husband gramps. Though it shouldn't be a surprise. After all, Jinn called her gran. The Naberrie family enjoyed a peaceful day together.
Later that night. Jinn was indulging in a deep meditation.
"It's time. You must leave now if you wish to arrive to our destination on time." Her eyes snapped open at the voice of Qui-Gon Jinn.
"Where are we headed?" She asked as she got up. Going into the refresher to change into her tunic. Clipping her lightsabers to her belt. Before coming back out. Reaching into her closet to pull out a sack packed with her items.
"Tatooine," Jinn groaned at his answer.
"Wonderful, I hate sand."
Qui-Gon chuckled, "Not to mention your latest adventure took place on Tatooine." Jinn grimaced at the memories before shaking her head.
"I wouldn't call witnessing your death an adventure. Plus I almost blew my cover. Then to make matters worse you knew who I was. That conversation was interesting. Talking with you in person. Not that this isn't the same-" Jinn cut herself off as she shoots a glare at what she knew to be the bemused expression on his face.
She could feel his amusement.
"Enough of my rambling. Gran and Gramps aren't going to like this. Especially when they realize that I took the Amidala."
"It's not the first time you've stolen your own ship. You use it all the time when you're on a mission in the past. That cloaking device you built does have its uses. You're much like your father in that aspect." They both chuckle at his words.
Walking out the room. Jinn quietly sneaked out of the house and into the private hanger-bay nearby. Perhaps she was too quick to leave the echoes of her past behind, but this was a mission she could finally take in her own time. Not for the first time she was going to meet Obi-Wan Kenobi. Only this time perhaps he would recognize her. As more as the mysterious traveler who popped up in his timeline, but as the daughter of Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala.
A/N: So, this is Chapter 1. Chapter 2 is the start of A New Hope.
