"Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease, where there are tongues, they will be stilled. Where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfct disappears." Moxxie continued distracting.

Charlie could see the sun slowly dropping toward the horizon.

"I think maybe we should wrap this up now." She said nervously.

"But I haven't finished." Moxxie said. "Don't you want your marriage to be loving?"

Unfortunately, Charlie's words was all Vox needed to hear before calling in four guards to throw the two imps out of the courthouse. However, it was at that moment, Vaggie dropped from the sky with Alastor and Angel.

"How did it go?" Millie asked her husband.

"They're getting to the vows." Moxxie said. "We stalled for as long as we could."

"That's alright the calvary has arrived." Angel said.

He and Alastor climbed down from Vaggie's back, then she transformed into her regular size and appearance.

"You know I think we need to have a back up plan just in case Vox isn't exactly a romantic." She said.

"What did you have in mind?" Angel said.

"I say we find a way to turn Vox's beloved technology against him."

"My, my, what a delicious sense of irony." Blitzo chuckled mischieveously. "And I think I know how you all can do it. Pentious, do you mind if we borrow your latest project? Say the giant robotic blimp that's loaded with countless weapons?"

"How do you know about that?" Captain Pentious asked. "Not even Vox knows about that."

"I'm an all knowing imp. I know everything."

"Oh that's perfect!" Vaggie grabbed him by Pentious's shirt and started to pull him along. "Show me where this thing is, I'll drive."

"Well don't do anything crazy unless we have to." Angel said. "If we need a back up plan I'll whistle for ya babe."

"Okay."

With that plan made, Vaggie, Pentious, and the imps were off to Captain Pentious's labratory. Alastor then headed for the courthouse doors but Angel stopped him before he got there.

"Alastor wait a minute." He said. "You wanna do this right, don't you?"

"What are you talking about?"

"There's a line, a line you gotta wait for." Angel explained. "The judge is going to say speak now or forever hold your piece and that's when you say 'I obeject.' "

"Oh really Angel, I don't have time for this." Alastor said, impatiently pushing past Angel.

"Hey wait! What are you doing? Listen to me!"

Angel grabbed Alastor and pushed him up against the doors.

"Look you love this woman don't you?" Angel asked him.

"Yes." Alastor said hesitantly.

"You wanna hold her?"

"Yes." Alastor said getting anxious.

"Please her?"

"Yes!" He declared.

"Then you gotta, gotta, try a little tenderness!" Angel sang. "The chicks love that romantic shit! Why? I don't know, but they do. Trust me on that."

"Alright." Alastor agreed. "When does the judge say the line?"

"We gotta check it out."

A moment later, if anyone inside had been paying attention, they would have seen Angel's head popping up and down from the courthouse window as Alastor was throwing him up and catching him, over and over again.

"What do you see?" Alastor called.

"They're right at the stand." Angel answered. "And maybe this is wishful thinking but Charlie doesn't look very happy."

"If anyone has any objections." Angel heard the judge say.

"Oh holy shit! He already said it!" Cried Angel, still airborne in front of the window.

"Oh for the love of Pete!" Alastor shouted, his anxiety having gone past the point of no return.

He left Angel to plop on the ground, leaped for the door, and burst into the courthouse.

"I object!" He thundered.

Suddenly all eyes turned to Alastor as he hurried inside.

"Alastor?" Charlie said in a hopeful, wistful sort of voice.

"Oh, now what does it want?" Vox said peevishly.

A gasp went through the rear pews, and rolled forward as Alastor made his way toward the front of the courthouse.

"Excuse me, pardon me, terribly sorry." Alastor said each time he went past someone.

"Who in the world is that?" Gabriel wondered outloud.

"I think that might be the man your niece actually wants to marry." Niffty whispered to him with a smile.

At first Charlie was very happy to see Alastor. She couldn't believe it, he was here. He had come for her. She almost smiled instantly. But then she remembered what he had said to her the last time they spoke, and as much as she had missed him, she was still mad at him.

"What are you doing here?" She demanded.

"Really, it's rude enough being alive when no one wants you." Vox told Alastor cruelly. "But showing up uninvited to a wedding-"

Alastor ignored him.

"Charlie I need to talk to you." He said.

"Oh now you want to talk?" She returned angrily. "Well it's a little late for that, so if you'll excuse me."

She turned to Vox who already had his lips puckered for a kiss. But Alastor just grabbed her arm, spinning her to face him.

"But you can't marry him!"

"And why not?" She asked accusingly.

"Because..." He didn't want to confess now. Not in front of all these people. "Because he's just marrying you so he can be king!"

"Outrageous!" Vox denied. "Don't listen to him Charlie, he's lying!"

"Charlie I swear on my mother's grave that it's the truth!" Alastor persisted. "He's using you! He doesn't care about you! He's not your true love!"

"And what do you know about true love?"

"Well I...I...Um...I mean..."

This was a lot harder than he thought. Of all the places and of all times to speak his heart, why did it have to be here and now?

"I...I think that I...I mean I know that I...I...I...I lo...Lo...Lo..."

Charlie's anger was immediately turned into amazement when she realized what he was trying to say. Vox on the other hand, thought it to be a joke and laughed.

"Oh this is just precious." He cackeld. "The wendigo has fallen in love with the princess. Oh good lord! Ha! Ha!"

Everyone in the courthouse except for Charlie, her aunt and uncle, and Niffty, burst into a roar of laughter. Their mockery hurt Alastor so terribly. He frowned and hung his head in shame, this was no doubt the most humiliating experince of his life. He was almost close to crying tears. Charlie felt her heart break for him.

"Alastor is this true?" She asked him softly.

He looked up into her eyes and the emotion she saw within his eyes confirmed everything.

"Who cares?" Vox said getting between them and grabbing Charlie's arm. "It's preposterous! Charlie my love, we're at a kiss away from our happily ever after! Now kiss me!"

He leaned forward with his lips puckered, Charlie slowly leaned back in disgust. For a momet all she could do was look back and forth between Alastor and Vox, not sure what to do. Adding to the pressure was the sight of the sun going down further and further.

"I can't do this!" She declared.

"What?!" Vox said getting angry.

"I'm sorry but I can't do this! I just can't!"

"Hold on! You can't just leave me standing at the alter!"

But Charlie was already trying to run. Her uncle would have gone after her but Alastor beat him to it.

"Charlie wait!" He called. "Please don't run away! Please! I'm so sorry about what I said! I misunderstood something and I made assumptions and-"

"Alastor I really can't talk right now!" She said, desperately seeking an exit before time ran out.

"I know you're still mad at me about what I said-"

"No it's not that!"

"Then what is it?"

"I...I...I can't be here right now! I can't let anyone see me after sunset!"

"Why? Tell me!"

"No!" She was crying now. "Oh God please don't make me tell you! Please! You'll hate me when you find out!"

"No I won't! I swear I won't! I could never hate you! Not even when I thought that you had called me a hideous freak!" His tone became more gentle now. "Just tell me the truth and I give you my word that it won't change a thing about how I feel."

She was so scared. So scared of what he'd think once he saw her after sundown. But she could tell that he wasn't going to let her run away and hide, not this time. And she now realized that Vaggie was right, if she wanted a true love then she needed to let him see every part of her. See if he would accept every part of her.

She looked at the setting sun again and whispered something.

"By night one way, by day another."

Charlie looked right at Alastor and slowly pulled away from him.

"I wanted to show you before."

Charlie then closed her eyes and waited. The sun went below the horizon and as the light faded, she began to transform. Her skin turned whiter and matching colored fur appeared on her skin, her ears changed shape, her face slowly came to have features of a deer but also of a fae. And when she opened her eyes, they were now dark and doe-like.

Vox was appalled. King Gabriel and his wife were stunned. Other members of the crowd gasped in horror. The judge fainted and had to be caught by Niffty.

As for Alastor? He stared at Charlie in utter astonishment. For a few seconds he was completely speechless because from his point of view, he was looking at the most beautiful creature on God's green earth.

"Well." He said grinning. "That explains a lot."

The princess felt a great sense of relief wash over her when she saw Alastor still smiling at her. He wasn't repulsed by her at all.

"Ewww! It's disgusting!" Vox said, his voice full of revulsion. "I've seen a lot of freaks in my life but you Princess are by far the biggest and the ugliest!"

Charlie choked out a sob at the insult.

"But this hocus pocus alters nothing." He said grabbing the crown from the stand and placing it on his head. "I don't have to love you! We have a binding marriage, and that makes me king, see?

"Uncle Gabriel!" Charlie cried, afraid.

"You unspeakable cad!" Gabriel spoke up angrily. "I warn you Vox, this means war!"

"Not likely your majesty or should I say your ex-majesty, considering that you signed your position to the throne over to the princess and her husband."

"I signed no such document!"

"Oh no? Recognize this." He produced said document and scraped away the rest of the paste. "You really should have analyzed this better before sighing."

Gabriel suddenly became petrified with guilt upon realizing his mistake.

"Oh my God what have I done?" He looked at his niece. "Charlotte, I'm so sorry. I didn't know."

"This can't possibly be legal!" Madeleine argued.

"Oh but it is. Legal and binding." Vox said before turning to Alastor and Charlie. "Now as my first decree, guards! Guards! I order you to get these two abominations out of my sight! Get them both!"

Following orders, the guards came rushing in. Charlie and Alastor ran to each other but soon their arms were grabbed roughly by countless grips that separated them. They fought against their captors, and their hands desperately reached for one another.

"No! Let go of me!" Charlie struggled. "Alastor!"

"Get out of my way!" Alastor demanded. "Charlie!"

He tried to fight his way to her but it was a losing battle. There were just too many of them. Gabriel and Niffty tried to intervene but they were restrained.

"Insolent beast!" Vox spat at Alastor. "I'll make you regret the day we met! And I'm not fond of the old methods but I'll make an exception just for you! I'll see you drawn and quartered! You'll beg for death to save you!"

"No!" Charlie screamed, horrified at the wicked cyborg's words. "Don't hurt him! Please don't hurt him!"

Vox spun to face Charlie who was firmly held by the guards. His robotic hand was then mechanically changed into a sharp blade.

"And as for you my wife!" He snarled, pressing the blade to her throat.

"Don't touch her you bastard!" Alastor shouted.

"I'll have you locked back in that tower for the rest of your days!" Vox continued.

With a tremendous heave Alastor, swung his arm, sending the men holding him crashing into the ones holding Charlie. Hand in hand, they tried to run but more and more guards kept coming for them and this time with weapons. The two of them were now trapped like rats.

Alastor and Charlie embraced and held on to each other protectively as they were backed into a corner.

"How charming, the beast and his bride, hoping to die together in each other's arms." Vox mocked. "But that's not the ending for you two. I technically need you alive princess and, you wendigo, I want to savor your misery for a long time. You both can slowly rot til you die, and you'll rot separately! Guards! Pull them apart and make sure that they never lay eyes on each other again!"

The entire crowd was mortified by Vox's actions. They knew he was cruel and insane but they never imagined that he could be so heartless and inhuman.

"You're a monster!" Niffty cried out.

"You're a bloody demon!" Gabriel added. "My people will never serve you!"

"A mad man!" Called his wife.

Soon every member of the crowd were shouting similar words.

"Tyrant!"

"Heathen!"

"Dictator!"

"You have no soul!"

"We'll never accept you as king!"

"I personally would rather lose my head and leave my body for the birds!"

"Birds." Alastor thought, as the word reminded him of something. "Birds can whistle. Whistle."

In a last attempt to save their lives, Alastor put his fingers to his mouth and emitted a piercing whistle.

"Silence! All of you!" Vox commanded. "I am king! I will have order! I will have perfection! I will have-"

Suddenly the court house window was blasted to pieces by a laser ray that came from a robotic blimp. Piloted by Vaggie and Angel, they steered it straight into the court house, crashing through the walls.

"What the hell is that?!" Vox demanded.

"It's karma bitch!" Angel said.

A button was pressed and the largest laser gun swung down from the ship, locking aim on Vox.

"Arrrggghhhhhh!" And that was all Vox had time to say before they open fired and he was reduced to ashes in one blast.

"Alright nobody move!" Angel hollered. "We got a loaded blimp here-"

"And we're not afraid to use it!" Vaggie finished. "Step away from the love birds, nice and slow!"

"We're a spider and a moth on the edge people!"Angel threatened. "Don't mess with us! We've already killed a man! Well half a man anyway."

At once the terrified guards slowly moved away from Alastor and Charlie. The couple looked up at Angel and Vaggie, smilies of gratitude on their faces.

"God I'm glad I saved that spider." Alastor said.
