Hawkins Lab, Indiana

It was another quiet afternoon in the rainbow room. Two, Four, and Five were focused on spinning small red tops on the table with their telekinetic abilities. Ten and Six were using their powers to move cars along the rainbow carpet. Seven and Nine were sitting at a gray table in the corner coloring pictures. Eleven sat with them; they all seemed in a normal focused mood, but today, Eleven was feeling a bit slow and unmotivated. She looked down at her blank paper and sighed.

Seven glanced up from his artwork. "Finished." he declared and he lifted up the paper to show Nine. He smiled and commented in awe, "That's great!" Seven was proud of the praise. Then, he turned to show Eleven. She glanced up. "Pretty." she mumbled, and looked back down. Seven noticed that she seemed off, but didn't say anything. Instead, he turned his paper around and continued to draw.

Mr. Henry walked by the table to see what they were up to. "You all seem busy," he smiled.

"Mr. Henry!" Seven exclaimed. "Do you like my drawing?"

"Very nice." He replied. Nine was still focused on her drawing, and Henry noticed Eleven's blank page. "Is everything alright, Eleven?" he asked.

She turned to him. "Tired." she mumbled.

Henry gave her a warm smile. "Have you tried drawing what you see in front of you? It may motivate you a bit."

Eleven processed what he said. Then, she looked around, her eye caught on a red ball. She then grabbed a red crayon and made a circular stroke on her paper.

She was interrupted by the main door opening. In walked Dr. Brenner, holding a small girl's hand, maybe a year or two younger than Eleven.

"Everyone," Dr. Brenner announced. "Meet Thirteen, your new sister."

"Hello Thirteen." everyone said. Suddenly, Eleven regained some interest.

Papa released Thirteen's shoulder, and she walked towards the center of the room. All eyes were on her, as everyone was curious about the new topic of discussion. Thirteen looked around the room, appearing both nervous and calm, as she tried to decide which activity to join. Finally, she turned her head towards the drawing table, slowly walked towards it and sat down next to Eleven.

Everyone at the table looked at her out of curiosity, including Eleven. Thirteen looked back at them all, as if to say, "What?". She grabbed a sheet of paper from the stack and some crayons, trying to avoid the fact that everyone was watching her. Once she had them, she paused for a moment, as if to contemplate what she should draw next. By then, Nine and Seven gave up and continued to color their pictures, too.

Thirteen picked up a crayon and began to draw. Eleven looked at her, creating an awkward silence. To break the silence, Eleven showed Thirteen her tattoo which read the numbers "011". Thirteen smiled and showed her own tattoo which read "013". Eleven noticed that the ink of Thirteen's tattoo was darker than usual, as if it was freshly engraved on her arm. Thirteen immediately pointed to her paper, trying to show Eleven something. She started to draw a long blue marker. she finished, and then placed her hands over it, slightly hovering over the page. She then lifted them up, and she brought out a marker with them. The same marker! Eleven soon understood what Thirteen's ability was, eager to show her her own. she picked up a crayon, focused on it for a bit, and was able to make it levitate. Thirteen was amazed by this because she had never seen anyone else with special powers similar to hers before. The rest of the time in the Rainbow room, the girls continued to show each other things about themselves.

After the Rainbow Room, Mr. Henry requested Eleven show Thirteen around a bit. "Don't get into any trouble," he said. El decided to show Thirteen the commons first, where they ate. It was the closest, anyway. She tugged her hand and took her there.

When they both arrived, Thirteen was wowed. Eleven was confused because it wast very impressive. But, she didn't really care. There was a bunch of three seat tables, a counter, a vending machine, a large see through fridge with pre made containers of salads and sandwiches, it basically looked like an ordinary cafeteria. They didn't feed the kids much, though. Every day, they were given a salad, a juice box, and some crackers.

Eleven read the time. "One Thirty. We Better head back." and she tugged thirteen's hand back to lessons.
