Chapter 76 Chapter 76
They felt a chill, as if all happiness had been sucked away.
Harry's face was pale, his expression terrified, as if he had experienced the most horrific tragedy ever to befall man.
Everyone froze, Harry collapsed to the ground.
Ron hurried to his side.
Malfoy looked terrified, without a chance to mock Harry.
"Go away, we don't have what you seek!" Evan said, trembling.
His words made the dementors pause. A rotten smell filled the air as the dementors departed. Evan breathed a sigh of relief.
The next moment, a clicking sound echoed in the compartment as Colin pulled out his camera and took a photo.
The act seemed to disturb the dementors, they rushed forward.
"Expecto Patronum!" Evan shouted. He had studied the spell during his summer vacation for this inevitable incident. Evan tried to think of the happiest memory he could recall. Thin silver wisps shot out of his wand and rose like mist before him.
Soon his spell attracted another dementor, Evan could feel his charm faltering, he couldn't hold on much longer, behind him were nine people on the verge of fainting.
The barrier was shrinking, Evan stepped back.
He gasped violently, his hand holding the wand trembling.
As the two dementors approached, he could feel all happiness fading away.
Evan felt his courage and hope fading too, leaving only despair.
Evan tightly gripped his wand, he had reached his limit, the silver barrier was full of cracks, constantly breaking and reforming. The light grew dimmer, just as he thought it was all over, a hand suddenly helped him hold his wand.
It was Hermione, her hand cold to the touch.
In the darkness, Hermione bravely stood by Evan's side, the two cast light in the darkness.
Hermione may be cold, but she ignited a spark within Evan, his despair faded, leaving only bravery.
The light from his wand grew brighter, the shield expanded. His Patronus began to take shape, the animal seemed familiar, Evan's eyes widened. "This...".
The next moment, he saw a silver wolf take down the dementors, then disappear without a trace.
Soon the light was restored, and then a strange middle-aged man entered, clad in an extremely tattered robe with patches in several places. He looked very sick and tired, his light brown hair mixed with white.
"He's Professor Lupin, he was sleeping in the compartment we were in," Hermione whispered, "What were those creatures and what spell did you use? Why did I think I saw...?".
"It was the Patronus Charm!".
Before Evan could respond, he heard Lupin. Lupin took out a large chunk of chocolate from his chest and divided it into small pieces.
Evan ate some, feeling a warm sensation envelop his body. He saw the others hasten to wake up Harry, who slowly opened his eyes.
"Harry, are you alright?" Ron asked nervously.
"I'm fine," Harry replied, looking towards the door and seeing the dementors had left, he sighed in relief, "Where did those creatures go? And who was shouting a moment ago?".
"Those creatures were driven away by Evan and no one was shouting."
"But I heard screams and saw a green light..." Harry shook his head stubbornly.
"Harry, I think you should rest."
Lupin looked concerned, offering Harry a particularly large piece of chocolate, "Here, eat this, it'll do you good."
"Professor, what were those things?" Harry didn't eat his chocolate, just stared at Lupin.
"They are Dementors from Azkaban!" Lupin crumpled the empty chocolate wrapper and tucked it into his pocket, "The fact is, this young lad did an excellent job before I got here. You need to eat the chocolate now, I have to go talk to the driver!"
Evan saw Lupin leave the compartment and disappear down the corridor.
By the time he turned his head, everyone was staring at him, even Malfoy, Goyle, and Crabbe.
"Don't look at me like that, Professor Lupin already told you that they are Dementors, the guardians of Azkaban."
"Dementors, Azkaban," said Harry. He awkwardly raised his head, "Did anyone else faint besides me?"
"No!" Ron looked at Harry anxiously.
Although everyone was afraid, no one fainted, which made Harry's face slightly pale. He didn't understand why he felt so weak.
Harry started to feel a little embarrassed.
"Evan, what did you do to drive away the Dementors, how did I see..." Hermione whispered.
"Well, well, it was the..."
"Wait a minute, Evan!" Ron hurriedly stopped Evan, turned his head and looked at Malfoy and the others, "I don't think it's appropriate for Slytherin students to hear about such a good spell."
"That's ridiculous, Weasley, do you think I would listen to nonsense from a mudblood?" Malfoy's gaze slowly crossed several faces before finally settling on Harry, when he did, it gleamed with malice, "Be careful, Potter, and stop acting like a bewildered child."
"You weren't any better when the Dementors came in, you started shaking," Ron said.
"But at least I didn't faint," Malfoy muttered, as they left the compartment with his chocolate.
"Well, go on, Evan!"
After Malfoy left, the atmosphere became much lighter.
"There's really no reason to keep this spell a secret, I simply used the Patronus Charm. It is very unpopular but also very advanced magic, it can be used to ward off Dementors. This was the first time I used it, so it wasn't very powerful and I couldn't fully form the guardian. If you want to learn it, I can teach you, in fact, I will publish the instructions on how to use it in the newspaper so that no one has to fear the Dementors."
Evan had just finished when suddenly he thought about what kind of Guardian was forming, it seemed like...
He shook his head, it must have been an illusion, "How could something like that be?"
