Chapter 1: Yakuza Alignment; Quirk Enhancer Drug, Quirk Destroying Drug and Eri
The worst kept secret of both, Pro-Heroes and the Underworld of Villains, is 'The Good Doctor', Izuku Midoriya. Little is known about him and even fewer know how to contact him. But if you are in need of something or a solution to a problem, no matter big or small, The Doctor is willing to help, for a price of course.
If you are the head of a criminal organization with a powerful background, if you have big amounts of influence or money, or even, the president of the HPSC, you probably have talked to him before.
In the dark lab, that the doctor calls home, multiple whiteboards with different scribbles wrote on them, papers all over the floor and on one of the many desks with monitors, a phone started to ring.
A humming was getting closer to the desk that had multiple burner phones on it. Izuku Midoriya, The Good Doctor, dressed in a white lab coat, black pants and red sneakers. He wore a beige turtleneck sweater and has white gloves.
His hair is green, messy and dirty, and he has heavy bags under his eyes, but he has an almost aloof smile as he picked the phone with a small tag saying 'Shie'.
"Hello Boss-San. In what can I help you today?" He asked as he sat down on the office chair that was close to the desk and spun on it.
"The Boss is... incapacitated. I am filling in until he is better." The other voice said and Izuku hummed.
"A shame to hear that, Sub-Boss-San. Well, do you have a name I can call you by?"
"Overhaul." Was the immediate answer and Izuku tapped his chin.
"Overhaul, overhaul..." He stopped spinning "Kai Chisaki! Oh my, how had you been! I haven't seen you since you were a child!" He chuckled and he could hear Kai getting annoyed, if the sound of his sigh was anything to go by.
"Yes, but I go by Overhaul now... and I need to discuss something with you."
Izuku nodded, grin never leaving "Well, before I tell you my location, what do you want to discuss about? I am not fond of having my time wasted, as you might recall." He chuckled "Please, in 20 words or less."
"Quirk enhancers and some theory crafting." Izuku hummed at the quick answer.
"I see... and I am always up for some theory. Very well, if you don't arrive in 2 hours, you lost your chance. I am at-"
After giving his current location Izuku hummed, still grinning "So, quirk enhancers huh... I wonder what he will ask for..." He giggled as he went to wipe clean a whiteboard, for the theory crafting.
30 minutes later, an alarm was triggered and Izuku glanced at a monitor and saw the Yakuza members outside the door of his lab number 39. He pressed a button for the monitor "Only Overhaul can come in." He pressed another button "Door's open."
After some moments, the door was opened and closed with a heavy slam, before locking itself again. Izuku grinned at the shadow and made a motion for him to come closer "Come in, come in you. We have a lot to talk about."
Overhaul, in full villain costume nodded "Indeed." He looked at the mess and a coffee table on the center, with a whiteboard next to it. He sat down as Izuku sat in front of him "The Boss always praised your intelligence and your abilities in chemistry and biology, so I thought you were going to be best for the job."
Izuku chuckled "Oh, that kid is way too generous, giving praise like it was bread." He chuckled to himself as Overhaul gave him a look.
"Kid?"
"Anyway!" Izuku clapped his hands "You said enhancers, and I have a couple of questions before I can start working. So, for who are the enhancers? Your guys or for the streets?"
Overhaul nodded as he took a small notepad and placed it on the table "Streets, but no, I don't want them to be simple steroids. I need them to be unstable." He slid the notepad to Izuku who opened it and started to read it.
"Unstable quirk enhancers, that's new. Please elaborate."
Overhaul nodded "Go to page 14. Do you mind if I write something down?" He pointed at the whiteboard as Izuku nodded as he went to page 14.
"Please do. You said we were going to theory craft after all." Overhaul got up and Izuku's grin widened "Oh... this is interesting."
He glanced at the whiteboard and Overhaul, who took his coat off, wrote down 'Quirk Singularity Doomsday Theory'. Overhaul turned to him "I imagine you are aware of this?"
Izuku nodded "Indeed. I first met it when Garaki-Sensei posted it as the Quirk Singularity Theory. Each new generation is born with stronger and more complex quirks, becoming more and more dangerous too handle."
Overhaul nodded "Yes, and are you aware of the..." He wrote down "...The Genetic Virus Quirk Origin Theory?"
Izuku chuckled and wiggle his finger "That's an obscure one. Yes, that Quirks are not the next step of human evolution, but a disease that infected everyone and that is basically a bacteria stuck in our genetic code." He chuckled "I can tell you believe in it. It does have ground to stand, but if being honest, I lost interest in the origin of quirks after I met a couple of people."
Overhaul nodded "You are well informed. I am telling you this because after all the thing the Boss told me, I know you will understand me. And you will be able to help me." He flipped the white board "The quirk enhancers are half the job. The other half..." He wrote down something that made Izuku hum.
"Quirk destroying." Overhaul nodded and Izuku grinned "This is interesting. I see you want to erase quirks before Singularity begins." Izuku stood up "I had long debates with Garaki-Sensei about it, but we had the same conclusion, if we want a safer future, there should be some way to slow down the way quirks are manifested or control since the beginning, before they show up."
Overhaul nodded and Izuku can see the corners of his mouth smiling "I think I would love to have a chat with this Garaki-Sensei."
Izuku shrugged "The old coot is doing his thing and is even more exclusive than myself. But anyway," He took a marker "I read a bit in your notepad, and I see your plan. But let's go by parts. Part one..." He wrote on the whiteboard "Excess. This quirk enhancer can't be a steroid. It can't be for heroes or villains wanting a small boost. No, it must be a recreative drug."
Overhaul nodded and took his notepad, searched a pen in his jacket and nodded "I am listening."
Izuku grinned as he started to write "Take a popular one, Cocaine. Cocaine releases big amounts of dopamine on the brain, it makes you feel good, it has 30 minutes to an hour of duration and once the effect is gone, you feel down, depressed, you need more. And the more you take, the less effective it is, so you take more and more. What this enhancer needs to do, is to make the user, feels good, release unhealthy and unnatural levels of dopamine. If you want to promote that quirks are dangerous, make the effect last longer, and make the person taking it lose sense of reality. Maybe some hallucinogens, making them dangerous for themselves and the rest. Also, the enhancer must be numbing for the user. Overuse of quirks can make the user feel pain and fatigue, so while being on the enhancer, you are a machine. You don't feel pain, you don't get tired."
Overhaul nodded while writing it all down "I see... What about-"
"Yes, the hard part, a quirk destroyer substance." Izuku started to write a new paragraph "To destroy a quirk, is almost impossible. What you can do, there a different options and ways of achieving it. Most are some sort of substances to block them from activating but are temporary."
"We have a way." Overhaul said, "We have a theory, that if we can revert the genetic code, the one holding the quirk, it can cause permanent damage and therefore, destroy the quirk." He explained and Izuku nodded.
"That's a nice theory, yes. But I fail to see how it can be tested."
Overhaul nodded "We have a subject with a quirk named rewind. It seems it has the ability to rewind anything to a previous state."
Izuku hummed as he started to write "So, hypothetically; if we manage to rescue and condense the genetic material holding the quirk of the subject, we can create a substance that could return the genetic code before it had the quirk... or at least damage it enough..." He tapped the marker against his chin "Tell your men outside to bring the subject, I want to run some tests."
Overhaul nodded "Unlock the door, I'll be back."
Izuku pressed button as Overhaul went out, ordered to his men before coming back, "So where were we?"
Izuku hummed "We are going to have to wait on the quirk destroying part. Now, explain me the plan. How you want to distribute this?"
Overhaul nodded "We were just going to sell it on the streets, and wait for-"
"That won't do." Izuku interrupted "You want to show that quirks are a danger. That they are getting out of control. If they find a thug dealing the enhancer, it can be proved that it isn't natural."
Overhaul nodded "I see... what's your suggestion Doctor?"
Izuku chuckled "Simple. Poison the water. Little by little, more and more people will start going insane, their quirks out of control. Heroes losing control, villains in despair. And you." He pointed at step two "You have the solution. And since you produce it, you control the market. And! If anyone is missing their quirk," He pointed to step one "You have the solution."
Overhaul nodded "It... it is perfect..."
Izuku chuckled as he sat down "It is what I do. Now, what can you offer me, after all this help and for more help."
Overhaul sat down "After all this, name your price. Whatever you want. And whatever you need to progress the drugs, just say it and it will be done."
Izuku chuckled "Aren't you a charmer." An alarm was triggered and Izuku hummed "It seems your subject arrive. Bring it in." He unlocked the door as Overhaul stood up and went to pick up the subject.
Izuku hummed as he saw quickly that the subject was... way younger than expected. "Why hello there Subject-Chan."
The girl looked at him with a combination of wariness and fear as Overhaul placed a hand on her head, making her flinch "This is Eri, and has the quirk Rewind we spoke of before."
Izuku hummed as he stood up and walked towards them "Eri, Eri-Chan... do you know how your quirk works?"
Eri gulped and shook her head. Izuku with an aloof grin bend down to her level "Well, me neither. But from what I heard; it is useful for a science experiment I want to do." He chuckled "Say, instead of being a lab rat, trust me that is a miserable experience... want to be the assistant?"
Eri looked at him with a careful look "Will... will it hurt?"
Izuku examined the bandages on her limbs and hummed "Nah. I will show you a way to make science fun!" He chuckled and stood up "Here's the deal Overhaul, the girl stays with me, and I will start producing prototypes of the drugs. The first ones, if everything goes fine, in a couple of months I should have something cooked up."
Overhaul narrowed his eyes slightly "And why you need Eri here?"
Izuku rolled his eyes with a grin "I have my reasons. But if you want a reason for you to allow it, it will be faster than just sending blood samples or you coming to one of my labs. You were lucky I was close this time, maybe next time I might be somewhere far, far away. So, if she travels with me, the process will be faster."
Overhaul nodded slowly "Fine... but if you break the deal somehow-"
"Pft! Please, I have no intentions of breaking it. It would be a waste and a hit to my reputation, so save your threat or promise or how you like to call it." Izuku extended his hand "So, we have a deal?"
Overhaul shook his head "We do. An estimated time for the first batch of drugs, Doctor?"
Izuku hummed and turned to Eri who was looking around the messy lab "2 Months for the enhancer, 5 or 6 for the destroyer."
Overhaul nodded "Very well. Good luck, Doctor." And he left without even looking at Eri. Izuku unlocked the door and the man left.
He clapped his hands "So! Eri-Chan!" Eri flinched as Izuku grinned to her "I have a couple of questions for you. Ready?" Eri nodded slowly and Izuku nodded excited "Good, first question; do you know how to write or read?"
Eri blinked confused "No?"
Izuku hummed "Well, we have to start from somewhere."
