Tenya nearly leaped out of the bed well before his alarm. His body was nearly drenched with sweat as reality starting bleeding into his life. Last night's dream was downright horrible. The thought of being subservient to a demon just because he wanted to help what seemed to a stranger in distress sent shivers down his spine. Tenya was relieved that it was all over…

But things didn't add up. Dreams are supposed to be fragmentary memories once you wake up. You remember some things that happen but everything just sort of jumbles together. But his memories of last night were as clear as day. He remembered how he met the demon who sought to make his life a living hell, how she ensnared his parents and made them think she's a beloved member of the household, how she told him that her goal was to ruin his life one way or another.

This was just the path fate took for him. And the only way he could rebel is to never fall into the demon's charms or give into despair. With a heavy sigh, Tenya lurched off his bed to take a shower to take his mind off the otherworldly creature that plagued his life.

After a surprisingly peaceful shower, Tenya cautiously climbed down the stairs to the kitchen. His parents should be off to work by this time so the fact that he saw his fridge door open. Rifling through the contents of the fridge was the same demon who made her home here.

…Wearing one of his shirts

She seemed to notice him and shit him an oddly sincere smile "Morning!"

"When did you get one of my shirts, Camie?"

Camie lightly tugged the edges of Tenya's shirt "Oh this? When you were in the shower. I think it looks better on me so it's mine now."

Tenya wanted to tell her that none of his possessions belonged to her, but he had no idea just what could set her off. Instead, he just rolled it.

"I need something to eat. I have school soon so I'd appreciated it if you allowed me to prepare something for breakfast."

"Do you think I'd do anything for you just because you'd appreciate it?" Camie asked while glowering at him, causing Tenya to freeze

Shit. Did he set her off? Was she going to rip his arms off in retaliation for his insolence?

Camie's expression changed to a bright smile "Without telling you to make me some breakfast too?" It was clear that she knew exactly how threatening she looked and was reveling in instilling a sense of terror in his bones.

Camie softly punched him in the shoulder "Relax! I told you that you're way too interesting to kill! And your parents would be so sad if you died…"

Tenya let a deep sigh as he remembered how Camie charmed his parents into not only accepting her as part of the household but to also make it so they believe him and Camie were perfect together. He almost appreciated the former since it meant they wouldn't be in danger…but did she really have to add that other part?

"Since I have time until class starts, how about some pancakes? I do have a sweet tooth every now and then." Tenya suggested

Camie hummed in agreement "Sounds great!"

As Tenya put the two plates down, he began to think about just how insane things were. Here he was, having a weirdly pleasant breakfast with a demon. Apparently, the best way to stay sane when going through an ordeal like this was to cling on to the scant moments of normalcy he could.

So he set the two plates down and tried to enjoy breakfast. He hoped that the fear he felt earlier didn't ruin his appetite. As he gingerly cut into his stack of pancakes, he noticed Camie rubbing her hands in anticipation before chowing down. Tenya hated to admit it, but she did almost look…cute when she wasn't threatening to maim him. That thought registered as demented, but he chalked it up to her latent magic messing with his head.

Instead of picking up any utensils, Camie instead opted to split her jaw into four separate mandibles and stuff the entire stack of pancakes in her mouth. In an instant, Tenya was reminded of her demonic nature and lost any appetite he had.

To add insult to injury, she daintily wiped the excess syrup from her chin as if she suddenly cared about etiquette.

"Your food's gonna get cold. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, after all." Camie lectured

Tenya wanted to argue back but not only did he know better, but she was also right. He couldn't go to school on an empty stomach. Especially since this was his final year of high school

Camie rested her chin on her palm "Sooo…third year, huh?"

"How did you know?"

"I combed through your parents' memories about you for this. Don't be scared, I only wanted to know this."

Tenya raised an eyebrow "You only wanted to know what year of high school I was in?"

"Duh! I have to adjust my tactics! I first year is way different than a third year!" she beamed "Besides, If I know too much about you, it'll ruin any surprises!"

Tenya didn't know whether or not he should be thankful for that. Perhaps Camie was bluffing? But if she wasn't…he was at least grateful she wasn't privy to any embarrassing childhood memories. He figured that it would be prudent to play along with her games for now.

"That's right. I aim to become a doctor one day…" Tenya responded sincerely

Camie cackled at his answer "Oh man, a doctor!? And here I thought your folks weren't like that!"

Tenya tilted his head, confused by Camie's words "Wait…Do you think I want to become a doctor to appease my parents' wishes?"

"I mean, makes sense, doesn't it?" Camie addressed "loaded family with a goody two shoes son. A doctor is a respectable career, don't ya think?"

"My parents are wonderful people, and they'd never force me to pursue a path I didn't want." Tenya articulated "I want to become a doctor to follow in my older brother's footsteps."

Camie clapped her hands in interest "Whoa! Whoa! Brother!?"

Her surprise was sincere, and it made Tenya realize that Camie wasn't lying about not delving deep into his parent's memories. And considering everything that happened, he did feel comfortable talking about his brother.

"Yes…Tensei Iida. He honestly is the reason why I'm such a "goody two shoes" as you lovingly put it. Perhaps if it weren't for his influence, I might have been the type of person you'd instantly killed when I found you, so I should thank him even now."

"So where is he now?" Camie questioned "In a different town? Country? Continent? How often does he visit? Cause I want to meet him…" She flashed Tenya a devious smile "I'm sure he'll love a sister-in-law like me!"

To her surprise, Tenya didn't react negatively to her thinly veiled threat to indoctrinate him like she did her parents. Instead, he simply smiled back at her. Having her fun ruined really annoyed her…

"What are you smiling about?" Camie nearly growled

"Even if it would involve getting brainwashed to adore you, I still would trade in anything to have Tensei alive today…" Tenya said with a wistful sigh

"Sound like he died a while ago…Too bad for you since once they rot, I can't bring them back to life." Camie said with mock sympathy "Shame…I could have used him against you."

"He was killed back when I started high school. Tensei was one of the best surgeons in all of Japan. One day, Toshinori Yagi, probably the most revered actors in the entire country, famed for his role as the great superhero, All Might got into a brutal car accident."

Camie tapped her chin "Toshinori…Toshinori…Oh yeah! I know about that guy! Gotta know the people everyone knows to blend in as a human."

"Nice to know that his fame extended to the underworld…" Tenya mused

"Alright, back to the story!" Camie ordered

"Yes. Toshinori Yagi's care was hit by some drunk driver, and he needed to be rushed to a hospital. So of course, his team sent him to the hospital my brother worked in but Tensei had two options…Either help a famed actor or save the life of a young boy who needed life-saving surgery. Tensei chose the latter."

Camie let out an impressed whistle "Damn…Now I know where you get your annoying personality from."

Tenya simply smiled at her "Thanks. That's the highest compliment anyone could give me."

The demon nearly gagged "Gross…"

"Back to my tale. Tensei chose to save the life of a young boy who was surely going to die at the hands of any other surgeon while Japan's favorite actor was placed under the care of another surgeon. The end result was the young boy making a full recovery while Toshinori Yagi's life was also saved, but he was paralyzed from the waist down."

"Damn! That's crazy!"

"The entire country hated my brother for that. Even when every medical board looked into it and put out a statement saying that not even a surgeon of Tensei's caliber could have performed a surgery that Toshinori Yagi could fully recover from, nobody cared. In the country's eyes, the outcome could have different."

Camie laughed heartily "This is why I love humanity! People making mobs because someone chose to save a child's life! All because of some dumb actor! The hate is delicious!"

"I was angry about it…" Tenya whispered "Until Toshinori Yagi himself called out his fans for being selfish and hateful. He praised Tensei for being a real hero and choosing to save a boy's life. In an instant, everyone who spewed vitriol at my brother apologized and just like that, Tensei went from a pariah to the man of the hour."

"That sounds like a pretty happy story." Camie pointed out "Shame…I was expecting more tragedy."

"There is." Tenya said grimly "A star like Toshiori Yagi has millions of fans, some of which are unhinged. One of them attacked my brother right as he was finishing his shift in his hospital. The killer was some disgusting superfan named Chizome Akaguro, and he stabbed my brother to death because he was the man who "ruined" his idol."

Camie suppressed a giggled "What a twist!"

"Not content with simply killing Tensei, that lowlife scoundrel mutilated his corpse with the logo of All Might. Damned bastard was that obsessed with some stupid superhero…" Tenya indignantly growled

Camie tried her best to hide how joyous she felt at the moment. Seeing someone as gallant as Tenya express so much hatred and disgust to another human filled her stomach with butterflies. It was as if she was indulging in some gourmet meal.

"And then what happened?"

"Akaguro let himself be caught by the police. He just wanted to make some sort of statement. When Toshinori Yagi found out, he was horrified and disowned that crazed killer. Akaguro wasn't even phased and instead, he praised Toshinori for doing so…Well, more accurately, he praised All Might. To him, Toshinori Yagi didn't matter. Only All Might did and a hero like All Might would hate a "villain" like himself." Tenya explained to the best of his ability.

"That guy sounds like he'd make a name for himself in the underworld…or get killed by any other supreme demon like myself." Camie beamed

Tenya let out an amused grunt "I'd like to see something like that."

"So that's the end of the story?"

"Basically. I wanted to hate Toshinori Yagi for all that…Even though he didn't do anything. I was just so angry at the world for what happened to my brother. But the actor behind the hero proved to be an even better person. Toshinori Yagi helped us so much after Tensei's death, he took the burden my parents couldn't bear when it came to Tensei's funeral arrangements. He still keeps in touch and told me if he ever needed to talk, he'd be there. How could I hate a man who went out of his way to do all that? Tensei would be disappointed in me if I did."

"So all this circles back to your dear big bro, huh? He's the reason why you're such a sweetheart and doctor?"

Tenya nodded "I was always intelligent. Tensei even told me when I was ten that once I hit high school, I'd already would be smarter than him. He explained to me that he wasn't the smartest guy in the world but he'd always spend so many nights studying and practicing to be a doctor because he wanted a job that could allow him to help people. While all my friends worshiped All Might and the actor who played, to this day, Tensei is my north star, guiding me to become a man worthy of his praise."

Camie stuck her tongue out in mock disgust "Gross. But I wish I could have met this Tensei guy. If he's the reason why you're so gallant…"

"I want to say that I wish you could have met him but…you know"

Camie didn't even try to feign outrage at that remark, only smiling at Tenya as she got off the chair she was sitting on "Well, you should probably get ready for school. It's still early in the school yeah, after all…"

Tenya raised an eyebrow "And what would you be doing during this time?"

"Me?" Camie ran her hands down her body, morphing the shirt she "borrowed" from Tenya into a dress of similar color "I'm going to hit the town. Explore how being a human feels."

Tenya felt a bad feeling in his gut "You do realize how worried this makes me, right? I think I should accompany you to make sure you don't "forget" how we act."

Camie batted her eyelashes at him "Can't keep away from me, huh? Guess I am slowly wearing down? But I'll have to turn you down. I promise I'll be on my best behavior."

"Didn't you demonstrate that demons make deals for things such as these? What do you want me to do to make sure that you don't hurt any innocent people?" Tenya questioned

"Your little story about your brother was enough. It did keep me entertained. Besides, I don't want to blow my cover too quickly by going on a massacre. Plus, I don't want to make my future in-laws implicated in any crime." Camie articulated with a sly smirk "But if you keep testing my patience, I might kill an innocent family or two just to prove you right…"

Tenya shuddered at the threat. He knew that Camie was just trying to toy with him, but he couldn't risk it. He really did just have to trust her and hoped that when he returned from school, everything would be alright.
