Author's Note

I've been struggling to make a new series to continue all the way to the end, but I've been stuck for a while… But on Christmas, I got myself a game that could only be bought on Amazon: Super Robot Wars X. I then bought another member of the franchise with my own money from the same site: Super Robot Wars 30. And so, eventually, I came up with this idea. Keep in mind that this takes place during Volume 2 Episode 8 of RWBY. Also, if you see anything that says "Cue: (Adjective) Video Game Music (Any franchise you want)", that's because Super Robot Wars has only a bit of tolerance for their music being on YouTube, Spotify, and other media.

-Beacon Academy-

Four girls were shown looking around for their first mission. One of the girls was wearing a red hood and had silver eyes. The second had snow white hair and blue eyes. The third had black hair, a bow on her head, and yellow eyes. The fourth had long blonde hair and purple eyes. The girl in red also had a large backpack labeled "BEACON ACADEMY".

One of the missions in front of her and the girls was labeled "SEARCH AND RESCUE". They chose that when another mission they tried to choose said "MISSION UNAVAILABLE TO FIRST YEAR STUDENTS". (And the Headmaster of Beacon wasn't around to "bend" the rules.)

After that, the four of them went outside and saw a man with brown hair and green eyes. "Hello, girls. My name is Russet Carob. I see you'll be shadowing me today." The man introduced himself.

"Yes, sir!" The quartet nodded.

"Then follow me to the Bullhead."

The vehicle before them was the Bullhead Russet talked about.

-Ancient Temple-

"Who or what could be in there?" The red hooded girl rhetorically asked.

"Only one way to find out, sis." The blonde girl said as she went on ahead.

"Y-Yang, wait! If you're going in there, at least wait for us!" The girl in white complained, following her. Russet, the girl in red, and the girl in black all follow both girls.

Cue: Calming Video Game Music (Any franchise you want)

-Inside the temple-

The quintet was seen looking around in curiosity. The temple contained four statues that seemed life-like. One had an actual cape and the biggest scythe the Russet and the girls had ever seen. One had a scar over its left eye, which the white haired girl could relate to. One had cat ears which drew the black haired girl to it. The last one had long hair for some reason, making the blonde gal, Yang, walk to it.

"Do you know anything about this, Blake?" The white haired girl asked the black haired girl.

"No… Why are you asking me, Weiss?" The black haired girl named Blake asked back.

"I-I just thought you'd have SOME idea!" The white haired girl known as Weiss exclaimed before turning to the girl in red. "What about you, Ruby?"

"Nope. No idea what this is all about either, but these statues look pretty cool~!" The girl in red known as Ruby squeed.

"I'm surprised none of you asked me." Russet pointed out.

"Hey, girls! Look what I found!" Yang hollered. The other three girls walk over to Yang and see four spherical stones, each of them as big as their hands.

"What kind of stones are these?" Weiss huffed in curiosity.

"They look quite dusty…" Russet hummed.

"Maybe we should try rubbing the dust off?" Ruby offered a solution.

"That might not be as easy as you might think. But, even so, I've brought napkins." Russet stated as he pulled out said napkins.

"...Why?" Yang raised an eyebrow.

"Well, I didn't want any of you to get hurt or dirty. It would be disgraceful of me as a full-fledged Huntsman if I let any of you return to Beacon in a worse state than when you left it..." Russet answered, scratching the back of his head.

"Oh, that's nice of you~" Yang swooned.

"Ahem, well… If you think it'll work, then… go ahead and clean away, sir." Weiss asked of Russet who nodded and gladly did so while Weiss and the other girls backed away. When he was finished, the stones were no longer dusty. Instead, they were now shining balls of various colors. One red, one white, one purple, one gold.

"Wow, they're so pretty~!" Ruby exclaimed excitedly.

"Are they supposed to be those colors?" Weiss questioned. Suddenly, the four stones started blinking toward a direction.

"Are they supposed to be… blinking?" Blake tilted her head.

"Worse comes to worst, we could sell them as blinking lights~" Yang declared.

"Could they even PASS as that?" Weiss brought up.

*EXPLOSION*

Cue: Tense Video Game Music (Any franchise you want)

"What the!?"

"What's going on!?"

"Ah!"

"Whoa!" Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang respectively gasped at the same time, the explosion making them stumble from the unexpected shaking it made.

"What… the hell are those things?" Russet let out. The girls look at what he saw. They see giant insectoid monsters, freaking them and Russet out.

"Are those a new kind of Grimm…?" Blake asked out of fear.

"They couldn't be…" Weiss shook her head. "The creatures of Grimm were NEVER that color! And we've never fought too many of them that are THAT big!"

*ROOOAAAR*

"And they weren't that loud, either!" Yang pointed out, covering her ears. The stones started glowing more fiercely.

"These things just keep glowing! In fact, I think they're… telling us something…?' Weiss guessed. The four girls see the light glowing towards their respective statues. The red stone glows towards the statue with the scythe. The white stone glows towards the statue with the scar in its eye. The purple stone glows towards the statue with the cat ears. The gold stone glows towards the statue with long hair.

"The stones are glowing towards… the statues?" Ruby grew wide-eyed in confusion.

"We're running low on options, Ruby!" Blake told her.

"Uh… Right! L-Let's give this a shot and find where the stones go!" Ruby nodded. The girls go and find where the stones are supposed to be inserted. After that, the statues have their eyes glow. The statue with the scythe has silver eyes, the statue with the scar has blue eyes, the cat eared statue has yellow eyes, and the long haired statue has purple eyes. The statues then suddenly start moving, the girls starting to lose their footing (or grip), the statues catching them, saving them from falling. The statues then knock the dust from their forms, showing themselves in their full glory.

Cue: Ruby Mix -BBCTB Special- (Blazblue: Cross Tag Battle)

The statue with the scythe was black with red outlines on certain parts of its body, its hood and cape completely red. Its scythe is also red and black.

"No way… It's got a Crescent Rose of its own!?" Ruby exclaimed.

The statue with the scar was completely white with red outlines on certain parts of its body. It held a giant gray rapier with canisters at the hilt.

"When was this… made…?" Weiss let out.

The statue with cat ears was completely black with purple outlines on certain parts of its body. It held a giant sword in each of its hands, one of which Blake could tell could change into a gun.

"How… was this made…?" Blake couldn't help but ask.

The statue with long hair was golden with orange outlines on certain parts of its body. It had a pair of gauntlets in its arms as well as golden long hair.

"Ooh, stylish~" Yang complimented. The statues then open the front parts of their bodies, revealing a seat with some blank screens inside.

"These aren't statues…" Blake pointed out. "These are giant robots!"

"That's… ridiculous!" Weiss told her before she was thrown inside the mech with the scar. "Wha!"

"Weiss!" Ruby called.

"Unh… I'm okay!" Weiss assured before the frontal part of the mech closes the part that was open. Inside, Weiss could see the screens light up before she, and the others, heard a voice from the mech.

"UNKNOWN PILOT DETECTED." The mech with the scar said. "ANALYZING NEW PILOT."

Before any of the other three girls could ask what it meant, they were suddenly thrown inside their mechs. Ruby was thrown inside the mech with the scythe, Blake was thrown inside the mech with the cat ears, and Yang was thrown inside the mech with long hair. The three mechs said the same thing:

"UNKNOWN PILOT DETECTED. ANALYZING NEW PILOT."

The quartet had their faces scanned for a bit before the mechs spoke again.

"ROSE DNA DETECTED. PILOT ACCEPTED."

"SCHNEE DNA DETECTED. PILOT ACCEPTED."

"BELLADONNA DNA DETECTED. PILOT ACCEPTED."

"XIAO LONG DNA DETECTED. PILOT ACCEPTED." The four mechs said. "APPLYING INSTRUCTIONS."

The four mechs then showed a helmet and were placed on their respective pilot's heads. When that happens, the four of them suddenly grow wide-eyed with words speeding through their eyes.

"Are you four alright!?" Russet called the four girls.

"Yeah! We're okay, sir!" Ruby responded. "I think these robots are able to help us fight those things!"

"Robots? They were statues a minute ago!" Russet gasped. "No… could they be…!?"

-Outside the Ancient Temple-

"Stay right there, sir! We'll be right back!" Ruby declared as the mechs moved past Russet to protect him from the monsters. Ruby's mech goes past the other three and slashes at one of the monsters two times with its scythe, knocks it down with the blunt end, and dashes past, cutting it in half. "(It's so weird… I'm piloting a giant robot, and yet… I feel like I can move it just the way I can move myself… It's amazing!)"

Weiss's mech goes next with two piercing attacks to another monster before it makes three more, defeating that monster. "(This feels incredible… I feel like I'm striking, dodging, fighting the normal way… Maybe this way, I can…!)"

Blake's mech goes next as she slashes a third monster with its two swords, cutting it to pieces. "(Cutting these monsters apart the way I cut through Grimm… It's hard to put into words… Maybe, with this robot I'm in… Equality through peace can be possible!)"

Yang's mech was the last to go before she punched a fourth monster down, crushing its face with its fists. "(Man, this rules~! I can't wait to get used to this! I'm gonna go on so many adventures in this bad boy~!)"

As the four of them kept going and destroying the monsters, Russet looked on. "Incredible… They're piloting those robots like experts… Those Paladins are truly something else compared to what Ironwood made…!" He grunted.

After Russet's grunting, the four girls defeat the last of the monsters. "And that's the last one~!" Ruby cheered. "Great work, girls~!"

"Yeah. It really was. I can't believe we've got to pilot a giant robot~! This is totally cool~!" Yang told the girls.

"I'm sure it's all well and good, but don't forget that this is a search and rescue mission. We need to get these stones to our client." Weiss pointed out.

"Your client is actually the Headmaster of Beacon." Russet suddenly spoke up.

"Professor Ozpin? What could he want with the stones?" Blake asked.

"No idea. But still, the mission is done. Let's head back to Beacon." Russet said.

Cue: Mystery Video Game Music (Any franchise you want)

"But what do we do with these giant robots?" Ruby brought up.

"We might have to take them with us if we find monsters like the ones you just fought." Russet said.

"Really? What if we just take the stones out?" Ruby raised another question before getting out of her mech and going to pull out the stone. Before she could, the robot puts a hand out to catch her, allowing her to stand on it. "Oh. Thank you~" She said before trying to pull out the stone, but to no avail. "Guh…!"

"Hang on, sis. Let me try." Yang suggested before she (and her mech) did the same thing as Ruby (and her mech respectively) did. No dice. "Huh. It's like it's wedged in there…"

"We'll figure it out once we're back at Beacon." Russet told the girls.

The four nod, having little say in the matter at this point. "Here, sir. Let me take you in." Blake offered, a hand extended. Russet nods in acceptance before the girls and Russet go back to the mechs, Russet inside Blake's mech, and head back to Beacon.

"So that's what's been hidden in this temple… Interesting~" A mysterious man with a mustache and tuxedo hummed before a black floating creature with tentacles appeared. This creature had an orange globe for a head which turned transparent and showed a mysterious woman with completely white skin, black sclera, and red eyes.

"Arthur Watts. Did you find anything in that temple?" The woman asked.

"Oh, I have, milady. Something very interesting you simply must hear~"

Cue: Mysterious Video Game Music (Any franchise you want)

-Beacon Academy - Headmaster's Office-

"And that's our report, Professor Ozpin." Weiss said to the headmaster.

"To think you'd be involved with alien monstrosities… I'm sorry, girls. I shouldn't have made that available to first year students if I knew that would happen…" The woman beside the headmaster apologized.

"No, Ms. Goodwitch. These four needed that mission specifically. If it were someone other than them, the students that would've accepted that mission instead would have died. And so would Mr. Carob." The headmaster, Ozpin, stated matter of factly.

"Wait, so… those four mechs, er, Paladins, they were able to work because of us? Exclusively?" Yang asked.

"You piloted them all the way here, did you not?" Ozpin asked back with a smile. The quartet looks at each other before looking back at Ozpin.

"You raise a good point, sir~!" Ruby giggled nervously. Ozpin chuckles.

"Back to the point." Ozpin said, getting everyone serious. "In light of this, I must advise you to be careful. If you aren't, then… who knows what may happen to Remnant?"

"What do you mean, Professor?" Weiss asked. Ozpin pulls up a few screens.

"Before you four were born, there was Nicholas Schnee, Alloy Rose, Cad Belladonna, and Ceru Xiao Long." Ozpin started explaining, showing pictures of a white haired man, a man whose hair is a very dark shade of orange, a man whose hair is half orange and half green, and a man whose hair was half sky blue, half regular blue.

"...None of their hairs match the color scheme of the Paladins we piloted." Yang pointed out.

"True, but their DNA matched perfectly with yours. It was how you four were able to pilot those particular Paladins." Ozpin stated.

"Now that you mention it, Professor, the Paladins we piloted said that they detected the DNA of our last names… Rose, Schnee, Belladonna, and Xiao Long…" Weiss brought up.

"Yes. That is exactly what the headmaster has said." Goodwitch nodded.

"So… what now?" Blake asked.

"What you four should do now is rest. You've had a long day, which filled your minds with what I'm sure is mind boggling questions. For now, however, you four will need to rest and only use those Paladins when necessary." Ozpin ordered.

"Yes, sir." Ruby accepted. "...Um, another question. Are we… able to summon them?" She raised another question.

"Another time, Ms. Rose."

"Right…"

Ruby and her friends leave the office.

"Ozpin, I believe we should warn them tomorrow. About… what happens when they use those Paladins." Goodwitch spoke up.

"Patience, Glynda. You will need rest as well." Ozpin said to her caringly. "As will I."
