Even his stylist approaches him with trepidation.
"I honestly don't know what to say," he says, inching around Wonder as if he was a pressure bomb. "I can say, however, that I've never seen a Games like that before in my life."
He carefully picks his way around, and Wonder laughs because his movements make him look like a chicken. It just makes the man more uneasy.
Wonder's crowning ceremony is tonight, but he hardly cares about that right now. A strange jubilance is steadily streaming through his veins. He doesn't need some silly crown to know that he is on top of the world.
They tried to get rid of him and failed. Miserably.
Let that be a big message. Let that be a real kick in the nuts to the Capitol.
They are not above themselves.
Wonder can't keep the grin off his face. He won't be forgotten for a long time, he sure as hell made sure of that. And now, by virtue of his success, he's also made sure that Chiffon won't be forgotten either. The girl who was both a sister and daughter of Victors. And an ally of another one.
They'll curse his name, the Capitol. Let them. He showed them up big time. There's nothing they can do to erase that.
For the first time in a very long time, life feels wonderful.
