Alright, with Mother's Day coming up, I figured I would do one with Dawn talking with her future Mother-in-law. This one is in the Pokémon universe so we'll get to see Piplup and Pikachu
Ash: That's good. Last chapter took way too long to write
I know. This one I want to be a little shorter. Also working on something for a writing assignment I got from the local writers guild, so I'm working on this and that at the same time.
Dawn: Good luck
Brock: Redbeard doesn't own Pokémon. End of discussion.
Dawn sat in the porch swing at her home in Pallet Town, her hand going over the small bump in her belly. It had been two years since she and Ash had married and moved into their small house in Pallet Town. While Dawn did miss Twinleaf Town, she felt at home here in Kanto. The place helped remind her so much like home that she felt that she had lived here her whole life.
These past two years, Dawn had been enjoying her life with Ash. She still remembered how she had been the one to grab Ash by the collar of his jacket and kiss him right on the lips before he had left Sinnoh after placing Top 4 during her first journey. They both agreed that when Ash was done in his next region that they would both go on another adventure. After that, it was only a matter of time before Ash proposed to Dawn.
Their wedding was held in the open plans of Pallet Town, allowing for many of their friends to be there. Pikachu and Piplup had put on a spectacular show with their famous Whirlpool and Thunderbolt combination, sparks going everywhere. Everyone had a wonderful time and congratulated the newlyweds on a bright future.
Now, Dawn was expecting their first child. Ash was away today doing stuff with the Kanto Battle Frontier, allowing Dawn this time to think about her life. Looking back, she realized that she wouldn't trade any of it away, not even for the title of Top Coordinator. This is how she wanted to be. She had her goals achieved and her life with the man she loved couldn't be better.
"Hey Dawn," a voice said, walking up to the porch. Dawn turned and saw Delia Ketchum walking over. Delia reminded her of her own mom. She was always watching out for Ash and to an extent, Dawn now that she was part of the family.
"Hi, Delia," Dawn replied. "How are you?"
"I'm good," Delia answered. "I thought I would come by and see how you guys were while I was getting ready to take some stuff to town. I also wanted to see if you guys needed anything."
"We're good," Dawn answered, getting up. Delia could only smile at Dawn, happy that Ash had chosen someone like her to settle down with.
"How's my grandchild?" Delia asked, smiling at the soon to be mother. Dawn smiled back, going over to give Delia a hug.
"Still giving me a lot of trouble," Dawn replied. "Still, I won't trade this for anything. I want Ash and I to raise our child the best we can."
"That's good," Delia commented. "I know Johanna would be proud as well."
"I know," Dawn said. "I talked to my mom yesterday while Ash was helping to take care of supper. Was feeling weak last night."
Delia could see that something was bothering Dawn. She already knew that Ash was nervous, not having his dad around most of his life. Due to an issue with Team Rocket, Ash had grown up with just his mom and Professor Oak to help out when he could, but the old professor still had his own job to do, so he could only help out on occasion. It was actually Serena's mother that had helped out the most in watching Ash while Delia had to take some stuff to Viridian, but Delia would always make sure that she was back to be with her son.
Delia knew as well that Dawn was just as nervous. Johanna and her had talked about Dawn more than likely being nervous as this was their first child. Now that Delia was with Dawn alone, she could see the signs that she herself had shown when she brought Ash into the world. Just as her own mother had helped her, she would help her daughter-in-law.
"Dawn," Delia began. "How are you truly feeling? Please don't lie to me."
At first Dawn was shocked and tried to stammer out a lie before she saw that look on Delia's face. The same one that her mom gave her when she needed the truth.
"To be honest," Dawn explained. "I'm nervous. What if the child doesn't like me? What if something happens before they're born? What if when they go off on their journey that something happens? It all just scares me."
Dawn then felt a pair of arms wrap around her. She then wrapped her arms around Delia as she let out all her worries.
"You'll be fine," Delia said, trying to cheer her up.
"How do you know?" Dawn asked.
"Because I went through the same thing," Delia replied. "First time mothers always worry. Even dads worry. However, once you hold your child, you'll soon realize that you really will have no need to worry."
"That's when I worry most," Dawn laughed, remembering what her mom would say whenever she said those words. Dawn's tears were starting to dry up as she realized that Delia was right.
"I better be off," Delia said. "Take care of yourself. Tell Ash I said hi."
With that, Delia began walking towards Viridian City, allowing Dawn a few minutes to reflect on what she said.
"She's right you know," a voice that Dawn recognized coming from the doorway. Dawn turned and saw her husband standing there.
"You'll be a great mother," Ash continued. "You raised your Pokémon right and you always spent time at the school teaching others about being a Coordinator and the kids there loved you. You'll be a great mother."
Dawn smiled, now seeing that her husband and Mother-in-law were right. She went up to Ash and kissed him, holding him close as Pikachu, Piplup, and Buneary joined in, Buneary mostly trying to snuggle up to Pikachu, much to the electric mouse's embarrassment. Everyone laughed as they went inside to talk about their day, the little family enjoying the rest of their day together. Together Forever.
Wow. 1000 words exactly. Hard to believe that happened. Any who, I hope you enjoyed this one.
Dawn: I did. What's next?
Next is me working on my Naruto fanfic and then back to this one along with a few more side projects. Here's hoping that I'll be able to find something to keep me busy soon. Going stir crazy being out of work right now.
Ash: How about the Hogwarts idea. I would like that one.
Plus I can avoid runway train for a while longer. What was that third option? BROCK, WHAT WAS THE LAST OPTION?
Brock: It was Dawn visiting Ash or going to Kanto with Ash. That was done a few chapters ago.
Thanks. Well, we have two options left, but I think the runway train idea will be a while.
Hope everyone enjoyed this. Later.
