Here with another chapter for y'all, something to continue the monthly update. I am slowly getting more and more chapters prepared. So down the line I'm likely going to update these chapters, considering they've already been adapted from a one-shot. Thank you nonetheless for continuing to read, and just prepare for a good 60k+ words over the next couple years.
This is the dream. Yang sat on the couch, watching some show that involved ponies. She was currently waiting for the assassin to wake up, whose head was situated on top of her lap. She'd patched him up quickly, impressing herself with how well she did it, but he had yet to wake up.
"Ughh."
Speaking of the assassin. Yang looked down to see that he had slightly opened his eyes, gently rubbing them soon after. They opened up wider as he looked around, and fully opened once he looked up to see her. Struggling ensued.
Once he realized that he couldn't get off the couch, after some persuasion from her tight grip on his damaged shoulders (oops), he stopped and stared at her. "First of all, why didn't you kill me? Second of all, why do I only have on such an abnormally tight t-shirt and some sweatpants? Lastly, why am I on your lap?"
Yang gasped in an exaggerated manner, "So you are talkative! Well, person whose name I don't know, since you're such a sweet little cooperative thang I suppose I can do a Q and A." She looked down for his reaction, which, surprise, was a scowl.
A shift to a more comfortable position, his head still on her lap. "Okay, let's get down to business. Let's get the first question over with since it'll probably take the longest to explain. I didn't kill you for a few reasons. One, because, like I said, you're hot. Two, I'm on 'vacation'." She made sure to add air quotes. "Doing so would just ruin the experience. Plus, I wouldn't have been able to do this." Gesturing to the assassin laying his head on her lap.
"Lastly, three, I'd like to know more about you. All these questions have a price ya know. As for your second question, I had to change your clothes because they were bloody. And-"
"You stripped me?!"
"I had to stitch up your shoulders." The assassin gave Yang a, heh, murderous glare. "Hey, don't worry, I had my eyes closed the whole time." He narrowed his eyes. "You don't believe me."
The assassin scoffed, "Not even a bit."
"Hey, I've defused a bomb with a rubber band, gum, and a paperclip. I'm pretty sure that changing some clothing and stitching pale in comparison."
"How am I supposed to believe you, when all you did was reference a movie?"
Yang grinned, "Okay, so maybe I peeked a little bit. I hope you're happy to know that I quite enjoyed the view. Sure the groaning and occasional yelling didn't help, but I give the overall experience an eight out of ten."
Noticing she had succeeded in making him blush Yang went to the next question, "Anyway, you're on my lap because the couch is comfy and you're on it, so this was the compromise. Plus you need the rest. Oh, and I've always wanted to be a lap pillow. Do those answer your questions, handsome?"
The assassin sighed, "Yes, all except one, I guess."
"And that is?"
"How long do you plan on keeping me here?"
She tapped her chin in thought, "Ah, well, I kinda wanted to keep you for, like forever. But I guess I can decide after you answer my questions."
He gestured for Yang to continue, most likely already given up hope of escaping. "So, first off, let's start with something simple. What's your name?"
"It's Jaune Arc, sweet simple, rolls off the tongue. Ladies love it."
Yang grinned, "This lady concurs. Now, let's get a little more into this interrogation. What's your age? Why are you here? Are you currently single? Who do you work for?"
Jaune sighed, "Same age as you, twenty-six. I'm, obviously, here to eliminate you. More specifically, because of the threat you impose on the Headmaster. Yes, I am. I work for Beacon, under Instructor Ember. Is that good enough?"
"You work for Sparky? Oh, she's a jerk, but I guess she somewhat knows what she's doing. Now, do you know Reaper? Because she is the bomb! I had her do a fly-over during one of my shows, it was 'cause of a bet she lost, and the crowd loved it! Anyway, back to the unaliving part of this." Yang rubbed an imaginary beard in thought. "I still don't understand why you want to kill me. Like, you work for Beacon Academy. They're pretty much the most skilled assassin company, the only company that even rivals them would be like Shade Academy."
Really the only difference between the two is the mindset. Shade assassins are more for eliminate everything, celebrate with a beer. The Beacon assassins are like, the exact opposite, where they plan everything out, go in pairs and go after the exact target, keeping collateral damage at a low. It's why they're the more popular of the two. Along with the reason for being the Headmaster's go-to people for when they need something more, say, under-the-radar done.
"I mean, sure, the two companies are practically enemies, but it's not like we've tried to kill each other before. But I still don't understand why you'd want to, or have to, kill me."
Jaune raised his hand, "I can answer that, but I need to know something else first. Are you planning to kill Professor Ozpin?"
"What?! No, why? Like, my upcoming job is to bodyguard him, not kill him."
Jaune nodded his head, "Well, it seems I may be able to answer your question, Miss Xiao Long. If you are telling the truth, that is. But, nonetheless, it seems we were both set up."
He paused, after a few seconds Yang realized that he was waiting for her approval to continue. She shook her head a few times and he began his explanation, "I was sent here to kill you, yes, but the reason behind my assignment was because Instructor Emerald told me that she'd heard plans of you planning to kill Professor Ozpin. Which could be a really bad mix up of her overhearing the Professor talking about you being a bodyguard, but that seems highly unlikely…"
Jaune's continued explanation of why it was most likely a setup became background noise as Yang thought about what to do. This could definitely become a problem. She had to get in contact with Ruby. Emerald was most likely a member of the Infiltration Squad of Shade. Which meant her assassination would be taking out loose ends.
Yang couldn't go to the Academy yet, Jaune was still recovering. Her only worry would be that Emerald had already found out. Though, most likely, she wouldn't become suspicious for at least another week. As was mentioned before, Beacon took their time planning ops, and a week for one mission is considered a quick and efficient success.
Sure, she could probably give Rubes a call, but Yang really didn't want to risk it in case Emerald actually had some kind of wiretap or, really anything that would track a warning coming in from any electronics. The best plan was to get Jaune to recover enough to get him back to the Academy, who had way better medical treatment then she could ever give, then get to Ruby after she dropped him off at the infirmary. Plus, Professor Ozpin was already expecting her for a meeting at some point, so she shouldn't expect any resistance.
Yang looked down and prepared to tell Jaune the plan, but stopped once she saw he was peacefully sleeping. She smiled…definitely living the dream. Yang slowly and carefully got up from the couch, cupping his head, definitely his head, not those biceps, never, and placed him back on the couch gently. She went to go about her business, but not before placing a kiss on his bice-head, his head not bicep.
That is all I have for this month, I will be back on the 10th of June with another chapter. I refer to this arc as the "training arc" as I wrote it, and it will be primarily training to set everything up. Missions will come once the characters have prepared. Please feel free to review however, anything is welcome to see everyone's thoughts!
