Note: Thank you for all the support guys! now this chapter will be a long one as i want to have Harley share some of her past.
As the bell ran in Reefside High the dino thunder rangers gathered next to their lockers. As the hall emptied Kira broke the silence.
"Hey Harley never showed today do any of you know where she is?" Kira asked the guys.
Ethan shook his head. "No. Conner?"
Conner sighed as he pulled on his back pack. "No i called her last night but she never answered. Did you guys notice how off Dr.O is? i mean he hardly assigned us any homework".
"I know, he even smiled today" Kira exclaimed as they walked to his classroom. They stood quiet as he closed his briefcase.
"Hey guys" He spoke noticing the three were standing there. "Something wrong?"
"We were about to ask you the same thing" Conner muttered as they walked out of the school. "Where is Harley? is she sick?"
Tommy stopped at his jeep and turned to face them. He knew how hard Conner was trying to apologize at how he was treating her. "Harley is gone to Angel Grove until later tonight. I called her in sick. She left on the bus this morning. I am heading there to but i have some friends on the way to keep an eye out if there is an attack. "
"I can stay if you want" Ethan offered getting the feeling it was a family matter.
"I can as well" Kira suggested.
Tommy smiled at them. "Its really okay guys you can come Reefside will be in good hands"
"Dr.O can you tell us what's wrong?" Kira pushed. "You seem off"
Tommy turned to face her. "Today is the four year anniversary since we lost our parents". Tommy locked eyes with Conner. "Every year Harley and I both go to Angel Grove."
"We're so sorry Dr.O" Kira whispered. "Can we ask what happened?"
"Car accident. We were picking up Harley from a soccer game she had in Mariner Bay. We went down a hill but the brakes failed in the car. We crashed head on into a tree. My parents died at the scene. Harley was in my lap because she had food poisoning so she never had on a seatbelt and got ejected from the car." He explained. "Harley blames herself for what happened."
The three of them got into his jeep and they headed for Angel Grove.
Dino Lab..
"Argg!" Hayley yelled frustrated as she slammed her hand on the desk.
"Hayley what'd wrong?" Carter Grayson quesioned as he approached her.
"There is something different and weird about Harley's dino gem and i have no idea what"
"How so?"
"Carter for some reason her gem is not the same energy as the others". Hayley answered. "Its a different energy fueling it"
Carter frowned. "Good or bad energy?"
"Both. I don't want Harley to morph until i know more" She explained.
Angel Grove...
Harley Oliver blew out a breath as she approached the one spot she despsied. She laid the fresh white roses next to the granite stone and sat down.
"Hi Mom, Dad." Harley snifed. "I can't believe its been four years and it only seems like yesterday. I wish you could see me now. I live in Reefside now."
Tommy along with his three rangers stopped at the gate to listen. Conner's ears perked up.
Harley wiped the fresh tears from her cheeks. "Life sucks . I wish for once in my life there was no monsters, no rangers and i wish you were here. Its my fault your here, if i hadn't of wanted to come home instead of staying with my team to celebrate then maybe you would be here"
Conner shared a glance with Tommy. "This is why she blames herself"
Tommy nodded sadly. "Yeah she was sick and she begged to come home. Ryan offered her to stay but we went to pick her up so she could spend time with me"
They continued to listen.
Harley looked up as an eagle flew overhead. She felt a connection as it was her animal spirit. "I hate it here. I never told Tommy but i don't fit in here. He has rangers under his wing now and they hate me"
Kira shared a look with Ethan. "But we don't."
Conner sighed. "I don't hate her i just want to look out for her."
Tommy touched his shoulder. "Conner its okay she knows that."
Harley stood up. "I miss you guys so much everyday. You know i was chosen to be a ranger but the others don't need me. I guess once a screw up always a screw up"
"Stop" Conner spoke standing behind her. "Just stop."
Harley's mouth dropped as Conner and the others stood before her. "What are you guys doing here?"
Kira stepped forward. "Dr.O told us what happened we wanted to make sure you were okay. We offered to stay back home but he insisted we come."
Harley smiled a little. "Oh."
"What do you remember? you know about that night?" Ethan slowly asked as her brother approached.
The four of them sat down in a circle.
Harley picked at the grass. "I remember being in the car, i remember the sirens"
Flashback..Four years ago...
"Good game champ" Harley's coach spoke patting her shoulder. "Hey kiddo you alright?" He asked noticing she was holding her stomach.
"Sorry coach but i feel sick, i called my parents to come and get me" Harley whispered. "I won't be coming to the beach to celebrate"
"Looks like their here" He told her as Christine Oliver got out of her car.
"Mom!" Harley yelled running to her mom. "Mom!"
"Hi sweetie. Oh honey you have a fever" Christine frowned touching her daughter's forehead. "Tommy is home for a visit".
"I know he texted me" Harley replied as her Mom took her bag. Harley walked to the car.
"Hey kddo" Tommy greeted. "Come on you can sit with me" He helped her in the backseat and onto hos lap. "
"Maybe we should take her to a hospital". Their Father Mark whispered.
"No" Harley whimpered buriying her face into her bother's chest. "'Home"
Mark put the car in drive and began the short drive home. Christine looked back to see her asleep. The jumped as the car sped up. "Mark? honey what's wrong?"
Mark panicked. "I don't know the brakes are gone!"
"Dad!" Tommy yelled as a tree came into view. The impact came quick as they collided with a tree caausing the car to buckle. The back door flung open as the car tipped causing Tommy to lose his grip on his sister to flew from his arms. The last thing Tommy saw was his sister not moving on the ground before his world turned black.
Present Day...
"I remember hearing sirens. I remember waking up in the hospital in Angel Grove."
Tommy wrapped his arm around her. "I made it out with a couple of broken ribs. Harley had three broken ribs and a shattered knee. Later that night she woke up and i had no other choice".
Flashback...four years ago.
Tommy sat vigil at her sister's bedisde as he waited for her to wake up. His face traced with fresh tears running down his cheeks. He quickly wiped them away as his sister's eyes fluttered open.
"Hey kiddo. I need you to stay still okay"
Harley whimpered as pain shot through her bodu. "Hurts"
"I know. Just relax okay"
"Where is everyone? Mom? DAd? what happened?"
Tommy placed his hand on er forehead. He knew he had to tell her. "Harley, there was an accident. Harley Mom and Dad are gone. They didn't make it kiddo".
Harley looked up into her brothers face as he told her that their parents were not coming back. Her lip shook as her body began to shake. "Mom and Dad are dead?"
"Yeah kiddo" Tommy replied as he laid on the bed with her. Harley's sobs filling his ears as he cradled her. There were no words he could speak so all he could do was hold his sister's shaking body.
Present Day...
The Oliver siblings look at each other.
"We had a private funeral since Harley was still injured. A few days after she had her surgery on her knee we went home where fellow friends would visit." Tommy explained.
"I can't imagine going through that" Kira whispered.
"How did you cope?" Conner asked.
"I had a good support system. All my friends were always there if i needed them. They still are". She answered Conner. "Conner i'm sorry i didn't tell you who i really was. I would never try to take over your team".
"Harley what do you mean?" Kira spoke.
"I'm not taking my spot on the team."
"But why?" Ethan asked as they all stood up.
"I am honoring a promise i made a long time ago." She glanced at the headstone. "I promised them i would never get inolved in ranger stuff"
Tommy's mouth dropped open. "Wait what? Are you telling me Mom and Dad knew?"
"No. She would praise them everytime she watched the news and i remember telling her i wish i could be one but she told me it was too dangerous so as a kid i promised her i wouldn't. Conner this is your team. You are the leader so please accept my decision".
Conner searched her eyes. "Okay" He gave in.
"Hey lets go relax on the beach and have a fire" Ethan suggested but noticed Harley flinched.
"Hey you okay?"
"Well i am scared of fire, a month before i met the Mitchell family i was trapped in a fire. I got out but to this day i don't know who he was" She explained. They made it to the beach and sat down.
"What happened?" Kira asked her.
Harley sighed heavily. "It was my first encounter with The Mitchell Family and the Titanium Ranger. My class were there to finish a tournament. I decided that i wanted a bagel from my favorite cafe there.."
Mariner Bay..2000...
"Okay kids good game. You have permission to explore but be careful as there are monsters here" Their coach told them.
Harley smiled and ran towards the cafe. She crossed the road Harley ran in and grabbed a bluberry bagel with butter and left. She jumped as a car screeched towards her causing her to be sent back into a cement wall and crashing through the window. The car rammed the building hitting a power line to hit a propane tank to erupt.
Harley groaned as she tried to clear her vision but alll she saw was flames surrounding her. She tried to lift her legs but debris was on her lower half. "Help!" She called as smoke filled her lungs. Her visoon got blurry as she noticed a figure bend down and lifted her up.
Later that day young Harley woke up fromthe sound of beeping. Her eyes opened causing her to look around.
"Your awake" AS soft voice was heard to her right. Harley looked up to see a brunette with glasses.
"W-where am i?" Harley whispered.
"Your in the Aquabase" A rough but soft voice spoke from the door. "I'm Captain Mitchell"
"Harley" She replied as they shook hands. "Who brought me here?"
"For now that doesn't matter, for now what matters is that your alright". He stated as she sat up.
"Can i go? i'm sure my coach is worried".
Captain Mitchell grinned. "He is aware of where you are. Harley i am so sorry you got hurt"
Harley looked at him confused but he continued.
"My son is the reason this happened".
"Y-our son? i don't understand" Harley replied sitting up. She followed him to the conference room where she noticed five other people wearing lightspeed jackets. She turned her attention to the monitor.
"That ranger you see on the screen is the Titanium Ranger. My son Ryan. he has been causing havoc in this city. He i under Diabolico's influence." He told her sadly.
Harley understood as she went through the same thing when she first arrived in Angel Grove and her brother was turned evil. A girl with blonde hair stepped forward. "Let me guess your his sister?"
Dana Mitchell looked shocked at the statement. "How did you know?"
Harley smiled lightly. "I know the look. My brother went through thr same thing although it doesn't seem like your brother is under a spell"
"No" Dana replied. "I believed he died in a car accident but my Father made a deal with the demon Diabolico to save him."
Harley nodded. "I wish there was something i could do but i can't. Look thank you for helping me i better go and catch the bus home"
As she went to walk out Captain Mitchell called her. "Harley if i may ask, how did you get through it?
Harley glanced at him. "Let him know its okay to be ashamed, let him know that it wasn'this fault. Look Ryan is going to want to leave and thats okay to but he will find his way home."
"Would you be willing to talk to him?" The red ranger Carter asked her.
Harley sighed as Dana looked hopeful. "I can try. Look its the weekend let me call my Mom and see if i can get her to let me stay"
Harley made the call. "She said i could stay for a few days some of my teammates are staying here to go camping so i told her i would be with them."
Present Day...
"I stayed in Mariner Bay for three days. The day i was supposed to leave i was packing up my bad at the field after a pracitce when i just saw him. it was my first time seeing his face but i know he was hurting"
Mariner Bay...2000
Harley has spent the past three days in Mariner Bay with the Mitchells and the rangers. She was packing up her bag from practice and hearing from Dana that her brother remembered his pasr. He had saved them from explosive feathers and needed to find her.
Harley walked over to the bleachers when she saw someone sitting there. "Are you lost?". Thats when she saw the morpher and the jacket next to his lap.
"Uh Hi, i was hoping the team would be here. Do you know a girl named Harley?" He asked.
Harley decided to play dumb. "I do, why do you ask?"
"I need to talk to her. Please can you help me?"
Harley giggled at his pout. "You might be in luck because your looking at her" Harley sat down next to him and laying her bag between her legs. "You still want to leave don't you?"
Ryan was caught off guard but nodded. "Yeah. I don't know to get passed this"
"Ryan" Harley began. "Believe me i've been down the same road with my older brother. Think of this as your second chance. I believe you were meant to take the morpher in the first place because in the back of your mind you knew it would help you remember who you were. Instead of running away use the anger in your battles to defeat your enemy and it will fall into place"
"Do you think we will see each othe again?" He asked as the rover pulled up and Harley grabbed her bag.
"I think so. Ryan don't let your past define your future. Your past will make you stronger not only as a ranger but as a person" Harley gave him one last look as she headed down the steps to her ride home.
Ryan smiled a little as he joined his team. "I wish she could stay"
"I know son. But something tells me we will see her again" His Father assured him. They gave Harley one last wave as she got into her parents car.
Present Day...
"After that day we kept in touch. I would go visit everytime i was in Mariner Bay. Every birthday, Christmas for the past four years i would go visit or they would visit me. I became the little sister Ryan and Dana always wanted." She finished telling her story.
Kira, Conner and Ethan smiled proudly at their new friend.
"So to this day you have no idea who pulled you out of that fire?" Ethan asked.
She shook her head. "No."
Tommy kissed his sister's cheek. He noticed his dino gem flash meaning Hayley needed him. "Be right back". He got up. "Yeah Hayley?"
"Tommy i need to ask you something. I know the green gem bonded with Harley. Tommy is she feeling alright because the gem is different than the others."
Tommy glanced at his sister who was laughing with the team. "Yeah Hayley she seems fine why?".
"Tommy keep an eye on her because from what Carter and I can see the green dino gem has a link to the green power coin". Tommy felt a shiver go down his spine as her words. "Tommy you still there?"
"Uh, yeah sorry. Hayley what link?"
"I don't know yet just keep an eye on her"
"Okay thanks Hayley". Tommy ended the talk and walked back over.
"You okay?" Harley asked him as he sat down.
"Yeah she just wanted me to make sure you were okay" He told her quickly. As the night went on they enjoyed each other's company until it was time for them to go home.
Unknown to them two glaring eyes watched from beyond the hills above them.
"You will be destroyed" The voice growled as he went through a portal.
