Everyone made it to the palace where Mimc asked to see the Sultana. Dante quickly stepped up, allowing them to get in faster. It didn't take them long to finally meet the Sultana, who looked as beautiful as most women.
"Mimic! I see you came." She said and then noticed her son.
"Was the message delivered?" She asked.
"Yes, Mother. He knows he's on thin ice and if he has one more slip-up, he will be replaced as mayor." Dante said, sighing.
The Sultana smiles before looking at Shantae. She then stood up and walked over to her. Shanate was a bit surprised before she bowed. Only to find herself being hugged by the Sultana.
Sky and Bolo gasped in shock as Mimic stood there.
"It's nice to finally meet you, Shanate. You look just like your mother." She said, still hugging her.
"Um..." Shanate said, confused.
"Your Highness?" Mimic said, clearing his throat.
She sighs before letting Shantae go. She looked at her before seeing the questions in her eyes.
"You wish to know how both you and Dante are siblings?" She asked.
"Yeah," Shantae said, nodding.
"I was great friends with your parents, Shantae. Your mother was my best friend. She knew what it felt like to be trapped. She would always use her magic to allow me to escape from the palace and join her and your father on their adventures." She said, sighing.
"I never meant to hurt your mother. When she left, it made both me and your father sad. I...ended up getting a little too close to him and...well..." She said, looking at her son.
Shantae blinks. Dante was an accident? She looks at him, seeing him sigh. He was aware of it, but he seemed to be okay with it.
"We have a problem," Mimic said, showing the necklace.
The Sultana's eyes widen in shock, knowing what that was.
"That's..." She started.
"Yes, it could only mean one thing." Mimic nodded.
The Sultana grew fearful, her worst fear was coming true. She looks at her guard, dismissing them. She then walks over to a chest and opens it. she pulled out a Tara before walking over to Shantae.
"This was your mother's," She said, showing it.
"My mom's?" Shanate asked, surprised.
"Along with that necklace, it's one of the six items that was needed to seal away a great evil. My father erased its name from history, so I no longer remember it." She said before nodding.
"As I mentioned before, these items only work on genies or those that have Genie DNA in them." He said.
"Along with Dante's dagger, you already have three of the six items to ensure the seal is intact." The Sultana said.
"And if Risky gets her hands on them?" Shantae asked while Dante was confused about the dagger he was carrying.
"Then she's a greater fool if she thinks that the creature can be controlled. It follows no master, no matter who releases it. If she fails to listen, then she forfeits her life." The Sultana said.
"Unless she has a backup plan," Bolo spoke up.
"He's not wrong," Sky said, sighing.
"Backup plans will not work. We tried that." The Sultana said before removing her armguard, showing a nasty scar that left Dante speechless.
"He saw it before we could even plan it. If it wasn't for your mother, I would have died." She said, touching her scar.
"If it gets free. Don't think of a plan, just fight it. Use everything you have to stop it. Kill it if you must, but don't let it into our world." She told them, sounding serious.
Shante looked at the tara and necklace, knowing this wasn't the type of adventure she was ready for. But she already decided that she wasn't about to let anyone down.
"You can count on me! I'm Ret-2-go!" She said, making the Sultana smile.
"Just like your mother." She said, hugging her again.
"And Dante, you better watch over your sister." She added, shocking him.
"ME?!" He asked, pointing to himself.
"Yes. This is bigger than the kingdom. I trust you to use your skills to aid Shantae in her quest." She said, surprising them both.
"One last thing," She said, pulling out a letter.
"Show this to any guard or mayor and they will know that you have my permission to talk about the forbidden items. Even if Risky gets her hands on them, she will be unable to use them." The Sultana added.
'I also can't tell them that they need one more item once they find the six. If Risky were to learn it, then she'd have all she needs. And she claims to be different than her captain.' She added in thought.
"Mom, are you sure about this? From what it sounds like, this is far too dangerous." Dante asked.
"It is. But I have no one else to trust. Shantae's mother is still in the Genie Realm and I have no idea where your father is. I can't leave the palace anymore. " She said, walking up to him.
"I never called you out on your choice of being a thief because I knew you carried your father's heart. I just want you to come back." She said, hugging him.
Dante sighs, hugging his mother. He looked at Shantae who nodded. While they both were still lost about the whole thing, they did know this was too great to ignore.
"Okay. I do it." He said, making her smile.
"Before you both go, there are some potions downstairs that you can take. They will help you on your quest." She said, making them both nod.
"Sorry, Uncle. Looks I have to take these with me." Shantae said, making him shake his head.
He only smiles before hugging her.
"Just come back, okay?" He said, making her nod.
"Let us know if you need any help," Bolo said.
"Yeah, we got your back." Sky smiles.
"Sure," Shantae said before turning to her half-brother.
"Ready?" She asked.
"Yep. Just follow your big brother." He said, walking past her.
"Excuse me? I was born first!" Shantae said, pushing against him.
"So what? I was born in royalty." Dante said, pushing back.
"So? You become a thief!" Shantae said as the two half-siblings pushed each other as they walked out.
"They're going to get along real nicely." Mimic laughs.
The Sultana smiles before looking at her scar. She missed her friends, but not their children are finally finished what they started.
And here's the rest of the last chapter. Short, but it covers what I wanted. So a bit of backstory with Shantae's parents and the Sultana. As well as the Great Evil that they fought in the past. While she meant to comfort Shantae's father after her mother left, one thing led to another and Dante was born.
Shantae and Dante are on their way to stop the Great Evil from being freed, and even told not to risk anything should it be freed. Even if Risky were to try, she would be dead before the evil was ever freed. So, Shantae and Dante must find one more Geinie item and two more thief items to make sure the Evil doesn't break free. And even if Risky got the items and used a back plan, she would lose before anything could happen.
One last thing, I'm thinking about adding two more characters to this. One is a thief like Dante, but he's more ruthless the Dante. He doesn't care who he steals from, he just takes it because he believes he's the better thief. The other is more of a scientist who studies the evil that Shatane and Dante are stopping. He even has a very mysterious past that no one knows.
