Chapter 3: The Day of the Test
The next day both Selerrain and I head to the locker rooms to grab her gear and to add a few pieces of my armor to my coat and we both see Nalzarion and Damian talking together while Nalzarion is putting on a black and gold leather jacket with spiked metal shoulder pads over what looked like a bronze cuirass and Damian putting on a black and blue Duster with the same style of metal shoulder pads and taking out what seems to be a bladed rifle. I walked up to them while Selerrain went to her storage locker "hey Nalzarion and Damian, didn't expect to see you two here this early" I said both of them then turned and looked at us "hello you two, and yeah we had to get here early so this one here doesn't get too distracted" Nalzarion smiled and said while pointing down to Damian I then gave Damian a knowing smile then said "I see, anyway we are for Sel's gear and to put some armor on my coat and due to the nature of my armor its best to do it without any...prying eyes so to speak but I trust you two so y'all are in the clear" "the nature of the armor? that is suspicious but if you trust us it can't be anything bad like stuff from the White Fang" Damian spoke up I then replied with a slightly annoyed tone.
"No, nothing from whatever the current crazies that are there now have its more…Ancient and powerful." both young men looked at each other and back at me then Nalzarion spoke "I take you'll explain it to us after the test?" I then smiled and said, "yup, there's a Café in town that I'll take ya'll to that I explain everything but first you need to make it to whatever item is at this spot." as I pull out a map of a large forest and a valley and pointed to a spot on it Damian looked confused and asked "so you know there's a item but not what it is?" "Correct, from I what I was told it's different every year" I answered, "was it that guy, Brezeck that told you?" Nalzarion asked "yes, it was him he told he also told me what to expect and I was given a map of the area before I got on the ship were me and Damian first met but I really need to figure out what I can and can't put on my coat." I replied while setting down my backpack to pull out all the pieces of my armor which included 2 bulky pauldrons with a black cross in the middle of each, a pair of long gauntlets with straps and buckles to more easily put on and take and had blue gemstones imbedded into the top of the hands, a cuirass that seemed to be molded to my body type with the same black cross in the middle of the top of the chest, greaves that had a strip of seemly detachable metal strip on the top that had the same black cross as the other pieces, a tasset that had black trim around the outer parts of it and again the same exact black cross on each of the sides of the hip guards and a helmet that look almost like a head of a dragon that seemed radiate with energy "yeah… no. you're not going with me not during the test I HIGHLY doubt there's going to be any Grimm that'll I need you for if there are well I'll just use my eye's special ability to finish them off though that will use a lot of my aura but that's why I went to sleep early" both Nalzarion and Damian looked at me with confusion while I was putting the helmet back into the pack "are yours similar to Ruby's and other Silver eyed warriors? Damian asked I then looked up and replied "yeah, but mine are way more powerful but have a wide radius and will only really outright kill certain Grimm will finish off the rest though and how do YOU know about the silver eyed warriors?" Damian looked around and said "her uncle told me when I bumped into him after a fight with some dust thieves" I looked at him with amazement and said "well then, this has gotten way more interesting" then I returned to looking and my armor "Ah I know what gear to put on! and let's shrink you 2 down a bit to make it work and… boom now lets put the rest in the bag and put ya'll on" Selerrain returned wearing black furred pauldrons with wolf faces carved into the white metal a black Haori coat with white markings that look like teeth painted on the back and a white strip on each of the sleeves, black furred gauntlets with same design as the pauldron but only on the bracers part of them, a metal head piece that still let her white wolf ears and shoulder length hair to be seen but cover everything else ,white metal shin and thigh guards with black teeth like carvings covering black leather pants and a white cuirass with two black daggers behind a white Wolf head carved into it and two white daggers curved to look like fangs on her hips "damn, I missed looking at you in that, when was the last time you were that?" I remarked after a short whistle "during that annoying brawl with a Sphinx I think" Selerrain replied both Nalzarion and Damian both looked shocked after hearing what came out of Selerrian's mouth "A Sphinx?!" they both yelled in unison I looked at them both and sighed "yeah… a Sphinx that fucker almost got us too if I didn't figure out That Excaliburr could turn into a bow that can shoot pure energy based off of the chosen user's Aura then she would've called her boy toys to save her though I think her sister is still around and I hear she's worse" Damian then looked in even more shock then said "so it is the same sword from the story!" "Not really, from what I was told that's only a part of the same sword made a master smith of the same name turns out Excalibur is the sword from the lake lady Caliburn is the sword in the stone both still 2 parts of many from the same sword and this bad boy is the original product. Apparently, the smith's soul is said to reside in it and talk to it's user haven't heard him say a thing might either be time or not have enough power yet which is fine I'm patient enough but the rest will be explained later AFTER the test" I explained then Damian realized I changed what I said again and said "so you're confident we'll be on the same team?" I then smiled happy that he caught on "I'm confident you'll make to the items and we will figure out or I'll tell the rest after" Nalzarion then cracked his knuckles smiled and said "hell yeah we can make it there" I nodded then replied "good glad to hear it now then lets get going" a few hours past and everyone are at a cliff over looking the forest with both the Headmaster and Headmistress then the Headmaster spoke up.
"Until now, you've been trained to become warriors and today, your progress will be tested in the emerald forest." "Now, I'm sure many of you have heard rumors about the assignments of teams. The rumors are correct. We will be announcing your teams later." The headmistress said "you will be acting as teams for the rest of your time at Beacon. It is in your best interest to be grouped with someone with whom you get along with. That being said, the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years after you've partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest. You will meet opposition along the way do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path… or you will die." Some look a bit nervous after hearing that, but most seem to know what's at stake or are confident in their abilities "you will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics. Each pair must choose one and return to beacon cliff. You will be graded based on the type of relic you retrieve and the order in which you return. Are there any questions?" Jaune then spoke up "yeah, um, sir?" "Good Now, take your positions" The headmaster interrupted "yikes, let's hope someone helps him land" I said to Selerrain "yeah, though I think Pyrah will" Selerrain then replied "wait she's-" I then get launched then I use my semblance to sprout wings and look and see Selerrain flying right at me and I grab her "and here I thought you weren't the stereotypical princess type" I said Jokingly smiling at her and giving a snarky wink while holding her "only with you" she said smiling back
"Ok so according to the Wizard Incarnation the items are in an abandoned temple towards the north most part of the forest" I look around and then I see it "ah there! Let's go!" I said "I'm in your care" Selerrain replied I then fly us both down in front of it and turn to look at each other "ok so the first part is out of the way, and I think I saw Nalzarion and Damian land pretty close as well so lets see what these so called relics are" I said "good idea" Selerrain replied we both enter the ruins and see chess pieces on pedestals "oh, this is going to be easy to figure out" I told Selerrain "cause you already did?" she replied "as I'm sure you did too" I said Selerrain then nodded and went and grabbed the golden knight piece turned did knightly bow "my lady I have recovered the artifact" I flirted "well done, my good and faithful knight now come here and claim your reward" Selerrain played along we then hear someone cough and another clear their throat and I looked and saw Nalzarion and Damian looking at us unamused "so what are the relics?" Damian asked "chess pieces I got the gold knight piece only one of each piece so I assume if ya'll grab the black one, we will be on the same team" I replied to Damian then looked around and said "that does seem to make the most sense" Damian then grabs the black knight piece.
I then hear hints of fighting in the distance, "I think I hear fighting" I told everyone I then saw Selerrain looking worried and asked, "is it them?" she nods "yes, I can sense Penelope's aura it's there but faint" I nod and turn to Damian and Nalzarion "ok team! change of plans we are going on a rescue mission!" Nalzarion and Damian nodded "we'll follow your lead" Nalzarion replied. I withdraw my sword, Selerrain unhooked her daggers, Damian loaded his rifle, Nalzarion grabbed his Warhammer, we all nodded and ran over to sound of battle. As soon we get to the battle zone, we see Aldric, Lucien and a short blue haired rabbit faunus with a strange looking hat and coat fighting two deathstalkers while Penelope is slumped on a tree holding her we see Lucien slice one of their stingers clean off then proceeds to jump and finish it while the other 3 are dealing with the other but is caught mid air by the other deathstalker "what the fuck?! Weren't you two getting its" Lucien then looks at the deathstalker still fighting the other two while having him in his hand "what the fuck? That's not normal but fuck this thing" then a blast opens the deathstalker's claw and sends him back "shit too far back" he then summons a fire orb but get interrupted by a incoming tail swipe that just baily dodges "what the fuck?! these things have NEVER been this intelligent!" he complains "oy! shut yer mouth pretty boy! The damn thing's claw is growin back!" the faunus yelled "what the fuck?! They shouldn't do that!" Lucien just then they all see a arrow of white energy hit the Deathstalker in the head and it disintegrates "fuck, fuck, fuck! Can't fucking believe that old bitch made more fucking royal deathstalkers" I yelled Damian Nalzarion Lucien Aldric and the faunus all looked at me and all said in unison "royal deathstalkers?!" I then sighed and replied "yes ROYAL deathstalkers me and Selerrain fought a couple right before a Sphinx decided to show up that's what we dubbed these new regenerating deathstalkers funny thing is that only one will regenerate but only if the other is down, you either have to be a silver eyed warrior or cave their heads in when that happens at least with ya'll, with me I can use Excaliburr's bow form to take it out"
I saw Selerrain over with Penelope giving her some of her Aura then look at Nalzarion "Nalz! go help Selerrain with Penelope just get close and Selerrain will do the rest!" Nalzarion nodded knowing he will get a explanation later I then opened a pouch on my hip and grabbed a vial of a strange liquid and drank it and looked over to how Selerrain and Penelope are doing and it looks like Penelope is healing up fine "also looks like that bitch made them a lot smarter too" "oy! who's this old hag you keep go'n on about and why teh fuck do YE have a legendary sword?" the small Faunus came up to me and said "well since you and Lucien are both on the same team now I will tell ya'll EVERYTHING once we finish the test and officially get our teams assigned" I explained then hear a whisper and a moan "oh fuck, SELERRAIN IS PENELOPE GOOD FOR ANOTHER FIGHT?!" I yelled "I'm good for another round with them or anything else now thanks Dray!" I heard Penelope yell "perfect cause we gone get a helping of a apathy group led by a imp!" I told everyone "Not just one" Selerrain said "fuck! alright, short stack! your name!" I commanded "Name's Safira! Sir!" she saluted like a sailor "Safira, how fast are you?" I asked, "I can run circles around Beowulves for days and they won't catch me but only if I'm not actually fighting!" she explained "perfect! I won't need you to fight I need to bring all the Grimm to my line of sight think you can do that?" I asked hopefully "aye, aye capt'n! Can do and will do just tell meh when!" she said saluting again I ignored it and said "now!" Safira then activated her semblance and then ran out of sight in a blue blur. I then grabbed two more of the same vials in my pouch and drank them both and my eyes started to glow. a minute later a swarm of imp and apathy Grimm came barreling out of a cave nearby with Safira in front screaming "fuck, fuck, fuck dere's a fucking army of dem! And there's a fucking giant ass URSA!" "Fucking great, the Ursa won't be purified by my eyes" I said while having my eyes closed "EVERYONE GET READY TO FIGHT THE URSA! NALZ IF YOU ARE STILL GOOD FOR A FIGHT THEN I NEED TO GET THE URSA'S ATTENION! DAMIAN SUPPORT NALZ! SELERRAIN, I NEED A BIT OF A EXTRA BOOST TO HELP WEAKEN IT!" I ordered Lucien then looked at Penelope and Aldric "Aldric I need you to help get Safira back behind Draygo! Penelope! I need you to help the other two with distracting the Ursa while I take it out!" Lucian commanded "READY EVERYONE?" I yelled "READY!" everyone yelled in unison Aldric uses his semblance to cover Safira's back with a shield then as soon as she gets behind me, I open my eyes and the Imps and Apathy disintegrate but instead of their dark energy disappearing it gets absorbed into the giant Ursa "oh fuck, that's NOT a Ursa! That's an Onikuma! And it's FUCKING IMMUNE TO MY EYES! HOW?!" as I look closer "FUCK, IT WAS AN URSA WITH A CORRUPTED WING! FUCK! EVERYONE GET READY FOR ONE HELL OF A FIGHT!" I yelled the plan both Lucien and I initially came up with went well while I focused the rest of my aura to help with my semblance, I saw a light that I reached into then a blast of light erupted from me and then Damian finally pierced the Onikuma's thick hide Nalzarion's hammer hit with such force that it made the beast stagger Lucien then blasted it with his semblance and sliced its head clean off then the dark black energy turned white and entered everyone's bodies and everyone including Selerrain looked at me in confusion and surprise I then looked back at them In the same surprised and said "yeah… that's new to me too I may need to ask what THAT was about at the café, anyway you 4 need to get your pieces" I told Lucien Safira Aldric and Penelope about the 'relics' and how to get one the same team when we returned there were only 2 pieces left "pawns, good I'm not one for titles anyway" Lucien then grabbed the black one and Aldric grabbed the gold one and we then returned to the cliff where the headmaster waited "you all may need to be put in a more…advanced class" the Headmaster said "well if your dumbass wife didn't get seduced by the real god of death and destruction then we wouldn't be needed at all and people called you two heroes pfft some heroes. Couldn't even save each other, dumbass wizard…" I unintentionally snapped then realizing what I just I looked at Selerrain who just sighed "uhh… well shit, that's on me" I said then turned back to the headmaster who looked at me in horror "how? How do you know?" I then said, "The Fae" he then said still in shock "they are still alive?" "Barely, can't say more without endangering them, crazy bitch has got eyes and ears practically everywhere trying to find the rest of them, plus there's no need so what are our team names Oz?" Headmaster Ozpin cleared his throat then said looking towards me Selerrain Nalzarion and Damian "you 4 are team Drgn with you as the leader" I looked at Damian and asked "yo Dami, what's your last name?" Damian said with embarrassment "Rama…" "cool" I replied and turned back too tired to say anything else, Ozpin then turned to Lucien "Lucien Rouge, you are the leader of Team laps" Lucien then replied "I'm the leader huh? I guess that means Aldric is my second in command?" "If you prefer to see that way, anyway, now here are your dorm rooms and scrolls, now go and get some rest I'm sure you all will need it especially you DragonFire StormShadow now I must go and assign the other students their teams" Ozpin then smiled and turned around and left leaving the rest of us with our scrolls and room numbers "fuck, he just used my full name last time I was called that was during mine and Selerrian's wedding ceremony well I'm in deep shit" we then headed back to our dorms and got some sleep
