Totally Spies: Clover's Totally Fabulous Birthday
Chapter 3
Clover, Sam and Alex, led Daisy and Stella into their penthouse.
"And here's the inside of our so totally fabulous penthouse," Clover spoke. "What do you think, Daisy?"
"Wow, it looks amazing," Daisy commented. "You actually get to live here?"
"Yep," Alex chimed in. "Jerry hooked us up."
"Oh, yeah, Jerry's your 'spy boss', right?" Daisy inquired. "The one who always drags you to his office through those… secret tunnel slides or whatever they are? He kinda sounds like a slave driver from what Clover tells me about him."
"Well, Daisy, Jerry's actually a really good guy once you get to know him," Sam spoke up.
"I guess it's just he's a serious workaholic and doesn't always appreciate that not everyone else is," Clover groaned.
"He also seems to spy on us a lot," Alex said.
"Well, what did you expect?" Jerry's voice suddenly came. The spies looked to see Jerry appeared on their TV screen. "I am a spy after all."
"Jerr, don't sneak up on us like that," Clover complained. "And I hope you realize we have company."
"Ah, yes," Jerry spoke before addressing Stella. "It is pleasant to see you again, Stella. Thankfully, under much less… intense circumstances, I might add."
"Good to see you too, Jerry," Stella said politely and with a wave.
Jerry took notice of the other new girl in the room.
"And you must be Clover's sister," Jerry said. "Daisy, was it?"
"Yep, that's me," Daisy confirmed.
"A pleasure to meet you, Daisy," Jerry said politely. "Clover spoke very highly of you."
"Nice to meet you too, Jerry," Daisy said with a smile. "Clover's told me a lot about you too."
Jerry raised an eyebrow, "Mostly good things, I trust?"
Clover, Sam and Alex had awkward looks on their faces.
"Well…" Daisy said with a serious face. "She did tell me about how you blackmailed her and her friends into joining WOOHP, threatened to lobotomize them when you thought they committed bank robberies, assigned them with an evil nanny, asked that awful girl Mandy join their team, gave them a bunch of weird tests…"
"Alright, Daisy," Clover said hastily. "I think he gets the idea."
"But mostly good things," Daisy quickly added.
"I see," Jerry said with a raised eyebrow. "I will admit I might have done some things in the past that seemed a bit… unorthodox. But rest-assured, I'm a very reasonable man. And your sister and her friends are my best agents and therefore treated with highest possible respect."
"Good to know," Daisy said with a nod. "And thanks for letting Clover and my mom tell me about WOOHP. And for not threatening to erase my memory if I found out."
"Well, Clover did say that you are great with keeping secrets," Jerry said. "Besides, if I did erase your memories, let's face it, Clover would never let me hear the end of it."
"You got that right," Clover said with a steely face.
"Well, now that that's over with…" Sam chimed in. "...we'd appreciate it if you gave us some time alone, Jerr."
Jerry nodded, "Of course, Sam. I will give you a ring if anything else comes up."
Jerry disappeared from the TV screen.
"Well, he doesn't seem that bad," Daisy spoke.
"Glad you think so, sis," Clover added. "But just be on the lookout for any ill-timed WOOHPings."
Daisy looked confused.
"She means whenever Jerry decides to summon us to his office when we least expect it," Alex explains.
"Sometimes he always does that without first checking to see if anyone else is with us," Sam groaned. "Which is how our moms found out we were spies in the first place."
Stella sighed, "Yep, I remember that."
"Well, now that that's done, what do you want to do now?" Alex asked.
"Well, I'm gonna order us some pizza for lunch," Sam spoke up.
"Make sure it's a vegetarian pizza for me, Sammy," Alex pointed out.
"You got it, Al," Sam said with a thumbs up. "While that's happening, in the meantime, we can sit and chat a little bit."
"Awesome!" Clover exclaimed. "This'll give me and Daisy a chance to catch up on things."
"That would be great, Clover," Daisy said with a smile. "But what time's the party?"
"Oh, it's a little later tonight," Clover answered. "After our other friends get here, they're going to help set up the party while you, me, Sam, Alex and Mom go all the way to The Groove for a birthday shopping spree!"
"Yeah!" Sam, Alex, Stella and Daisy all cheered.
After Sam had ordered pizza for lunch, she, Alex, Clover, Stella and Daisy all sat on the couches in the penthouse and conversed.
"So, Daisy… Clover's told you about some of our missions over the years?" Sam inquired.
"She sure has," Daisy replied. "Not that I wanted to be mean or anything, but I did get a bit of a laugh when Clover told me how this weird circus villain turned her into an elephant girl…"
"Ugh, don't remind me," Clover groaned. "That was a total nightmare of a mission. I thought it would take a team of Beverly Hills finest to remove that nasty trunk."
Daisy continued speaking, "There was also this one mission, Clover told me about, where that tiny guy turned her and that mean girl, Mandy, into giants… what was his name again?"
"Diminutive Smalls," Sam answered.
"Oh, right," Daisy said with a nod. "Well, Clover told me about how she and Mandy got into this huge fight when they were both turned into fifty foot tall monsters and we both kinda got a laugh out of it."
"Yeah, having a cat fight with Mandy while being fifty foot tall did feel pretty weird," Clover spoke up. "But giving her a major beat-down while being that size was kinda fun."
"And I thought both Mandy and Clover were cute when Sammy accidentally made them really small," Alex added. "I wanted to keep them."
Sam sighed, "Yep, I remember that, Alex."
"I really don't like that Mandy girl," Stella said with scowl.
"Is that because she kidnapped you once, Mom?" Daisy inquired.
"It is," Stella confirmed. "That girl really should have been locked up for a long time."
"Well, technically, Mandy was only brainwashed when she took you and our other moms hostage," Sam pointed out. "And she didn't even remember anything she did while she was a spy-sassin."
"So, technically, there was nothing she could be locked up for," Alex added.
"As much as I really hate to admit it, Sam and Alex do have a point, Mom," Clover chimed in.
"I know that," Stella said in acknowledgement. "I still think that girl is nothing but trouble. After all, being cured of those nasty SUDS didn't exactly fix her major attitude problem. I wouldn't be surprised if she committed a crime without being brainwashed."
Clover, Sam and Alex glanced at each other nervously. Stella and Daisy had no idea that the only time Mandy ever committed any evil actions without being brainwashed was when she used TV to completely dominate (or 'mandify' as she called it) Beverly Hills in an altered timeline and planned to do the same to the entire planet. The girls had discovered that when they had accidentally used Jerry's time machine to travel twenty years into the future. They helped their future selves defeat Mandy and managed to get back to their own time. Afterwards, they made it so that Mandy didn't have to sign up for the TV station and therefore she wouldn't be able to take over Bev Hills or the world. Of course, Sam, Clover and Alex were the only ones aware of what would have happened if they hadn't changed the future. No one else knew. And they didn't really feel like telling Stella or Daisy just yet.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang.
"The pizza's here, I got it," Sam spoke up.
While Sam was getting the pizza, Alex continued speaking.
"Well, I'm sure we won't ever have to worry about Mandy doing anything evil again," Alex turned to Clover. "Right, Clover?"
"Well, um…" Clover started to say.
Clover suddenly developed a nasty thought. If someone had the SUDS, there was a small chance they'd use it on Mandy again. She hoped that wouldn't be the case.
Meanwhile, Mandy and her mother, Phoebe were walking over to her room in Mali-U. Mandy's cousin, Mindy, was with them. Mindy had left Mali-U more than a few months ago, but she and Phoebe were just visiting for the day.
Mandy and her mother were still arguing about Mandy's little argument with Clover and her friends.
"Come on, Mom," Mandy complained. "Like you've never boasted about popularity in your life."
"Now, you listen here, young lady," Phoebe said with a stern expression. "Boasting about popularity is one thing, but I've never stooped as low as to treat everyone else like trash because of it. Much less for the fun of it. Making others feel down for your own amusement is just a bunch of superficial jive."
"Still always lives in the past, doesn't she?" Mindy whispered to Mandy in her country accent.
"She never lives in the 21st century," Mandy whispered back.
"What was that?" Phoebe asked sternly.
"Nothing!" Mandy and Mindy said in unison.
Mandy, Mindy and Phoebe were unaware that they were being tailed by Agent Beta who was stalking them from a nearby bush.
"Mistress Husk," Agent Beta spoke into a radio. "I have the targets in sight."
"Good," Grace's voice came through the radio. "As soon as they are all cornered in Mandy's dorm room, that's when you swoop in and spray them with the SUDS."
"Yes, Mistress," Agent Beta spoke through the radio.
Clover, Sam, Alex, Daisy and Stella were sitting at the table eating pizza. Alex, of course, was eating a vegetarian pizza since she was an animal lover.
"So, when did you say your other friends are getting here, Clover?" Daisy inquired of her sister.
"Not very long," Clover answered.
"They said they'd be here at 3," Sam added.
"And like all WOOHP spies, they're very punctual," Alex chimed in.
"What did you say their names were again?" Daisy asked.
"Well, there's Dean from the WOOHP gadget lab," Sam answered.
"Oh, yeah," Daisy spoke. "You guys were always head over heels for him, weren't you?"
The other girls blushed.
"You could say that," Sam said with an awkward chuckle.
"Yes, I've heard about him," Stella spoke up. "He sounds like a charming young man."
"You bet he is," Clover said with a blissful sigh.
"And there's our friend, Britney, who'd occasionally join us on missions," Alex chimed in.
"Oh, yeah, I've heard of her," Daisy spoke up. "Clover told me she's a really nice girl."
Alex sighed, "Did Clover also tell you about my old jealousy of Britney?"
"Well… yeah," Daisy replied. "But she said you weren't jealous of her anymore."
Alex nodded, "Yeah, that's true. I mean, yeah my annoyance toward Britney did return briefly when Britney was gushing over Clover's ex-boyfriend, Blaine, but she and I are great friends now."
Daisy smiled, "I'm happy to hear that."
"Speaking of Clover's ex-boyfriend…" Sam chimed in. "He's coming too."
"Oh, yeah, isn't he the guy who was tricked into trying to assassinate Clover," Daisy asked with a nervous expression.
"Yeah," Clover sighed. "But I don't blame him too much for that. It was… ugh, Geraldine's fault."
"Oh, yeah, I understand that this Geraldine woman did some… pretty bad stuff to you, right?" Daisy said.
Clover nodded with a scowl on her face, "You got that right."
Daisy was informed all about how Geraldine Husk made things really hard for Clover during the last time the spies had faced said villainess. She knew it was a majorly sensitive topic for Clover as well as Sam and Alex, so she decided not to get too much into it.
"So, you said that Blaine didn't want to date you because he thought you were too… high maintenance? Is that what he called it?" Daisy inquired.
"Unfortunately, he did," Clover groaned. "But he called and apologized to me and I was very touched that he would have the courtesy to do that. So there's no bad blood between us. We're still friends."
"That's good to know," Daisy said with a nod.
"Well, Clover, I'm glad there is no bad blood between you and your ex-boyfriend," Stella spoke up. "Nevertheless, I'm not sure how I feel about someone who once tried to kill you coming to your birthday party."
"Trust me, Mom," Clover assured her mother. "Blaine is actually a really good guy. That whole assassination thing was just a totally major misunderstanding."
"Alright," Stella said in acknowledgement. She kept a stern expression. "But I'm keeping an eye on him."
"Good to know," Clover said with a nervous chuckle.
Mandy led Mindy and Phoebe into her dorm room.
"This is the room that me and Mindy shared before she left Mali-U," Mandy explained.
"It looks nice, Dear," Phoebe said simply.
Mandy scoffed and muttered, "Not as nice as that penthouse those losers always keep to themselves."
"What was that?" Phoebe asked sternly.
"Nothing, nothing," Mandy said quickly.
"So where's that intern of yers?" Mindy inquired.
"You mean, Trent?" Mandy scoffed an annoyance. "He should have been back by now with my dry-cleaning. Where is that lazy slacker?"
All of a sudden, a man dressed in a black jumpsuit with a greek letter B on the back dropped down from the ceiling of Mandy's room and pointed a strange looking gun at them.
"What the…?" Mindy was cut off as the man sprayed Mandy, Mindy and Phoebe with a strange green glowing liquid.
"Hey, you freakishly dressed loser!" Mandy complained. "Who are you and what did you do that for?!"
"My mistress needs your help with something," Agent Beta explained. "Specifically with… hunting down and eliminating spies."
Mandy looked confused for a few seconds before he eyes suddenly were glowing green and she smiled evilly.
"You know what?" Mandy said in a sinister tone. "That actually sounds like a deliciously evil idea."
