Chapter 563
Evade And Elude
Cameron and Cammy were headed for a fight. It looked like it was going to be hand to hand combat.
Cammy was naked since Cameron wouldn't allow her to dress. Cameron told her she would never be allowed to wear clothes again. She didn't think Cameron should be able to tell her what to do or not to do in her room, the room she shared with Savannah.
A few minutes ago Cameron caught Cammy naked in Savannah's bed with John after Cammy tried to pass herself off as Savannah in the dark. Savannah intervened before anything happened and left in disgust once she found out the details.
Cam tried to calm Cameron and Cammy down. It only seemed to agitate them further. They were both angry at her for trying to stop them. They felt it was a personal matter and wanted her to mind her own business. She thought the two of them 'out of control' was her business, as well as everyone else at the Resistance base.
Cameron already planned what to do with Cammy's terminated chassis. She tried to think what the most disgusting punishment she could come up with would be, in the quickest amount of time.
"After I deactivate you, I'm going to dump your chassis at a homeless camp. They can do what they want with you." Cameron said. "It will be better than what you deserve. 'Metal Whores' are the scum of the Earth."
Cammy didn't see it the same way at all. Cameron was defective and a danger to Savannah and John. She felt it was a well established fact.
"It is I who will deactivate you. You're a 'has been' who's been 'replaced'." Cammy said. "I'll provide for both John and Savannah. They both belong to me now. They will both enjoy the comfort of my sheath and know what protection really is. None of them will need to wonder or worry about how used or abused my chassis is either."
Cameron and Cammy advanced on each other. It didn't appear anything could stop it now. The entire hallway would probably need to be rebuilt by the time they were done. It assumed no one's power cell was ruptured and took out half the base during the process.
Cam didn't think she could do any more other than Taser both of them. She knew if she did, it was going to create an even bigger problem and probably turn both of them against her when they rebooted. She noticed something in the background. The sound of it was familiar, even if it wasn't.
"Listen!" Cam said forcefully.
Cameron and Cammy stopped arguing.
All three were quiet. They could all hear it. It instantly sickened all three of them.
It was the sound of someone crying. They were muted cries. It was crying someone tried to stop, but it was crying which couldn't stop….
It was the crying of someone in the deepest depths of pain. It was the kind of pain which lasts 'forever'. It was something terrible for a human to experience. It was something which would scar them forever.
Cameron knew the depth of the level of such pain. She knew what it did to someone. It destroyed them 'inside'. For cyborgs it was bad enough. Anything that ever happened, was just like it happened, when ever they thought about it. It would be the same for a human with the same level of suffering.
Cam pointed to where it was at.
"It's over there." Cam whispered.
She really wanted to avoid escalating her level of involvement in the impending confrontation. The collateral damage was already obvious, and the fighting hadn't even started. At best it was at a temporary hold for now, until the nature of the problem could be determined.
Cameron glared at Cammy and headed in the direction of the sobbing.
Cammy and Cam followed.
Cam gave Cammy a dirty look. She felt everything currently happening was completely avoidable. Any of the things which Cammy may have wanted to happen, could have happened under different circumstances. She didn't think Vanna would be any less upset than Savannah was if she tried to have sex with John and pretend she was Vanna in the darkness. It made her think of the Darkness. It came in many forms.
Cammy didn't care for the way Cam looked at her. Once she was done with Cameron, she would address the issue personally and see what Cam wanted to do about it.
Cameron came around the corner and Savannah was sitting on the floor crying.
When Savannah saw Cameron she turned away. She stopped crying and stood. The tears poured out of her eyes. She turned her back to Cameron. Cammy and Cam stood behind Cameron.
Cam was appalled at how upset Savannah was. It was the fault of Cameron and Cammy for fighting. She looked at them with disgust.
"I hope both of you are happy." Cam said. "How dare you hurt Savannah like this. Go ahead and terminate each other…. I'm no longer a part of this foolishness. You should both immediately apologize to Savannah and work things out now. I'm out of here."
Cam turned and left. She hoped if she wasn't directly involved, they might be able to work things out amongst themselves a little easier. It was what she would want under similar circumstances.
Savannah turned to face Cameron and Cammy. The tears still flowed down her cheeks. She was very upset with both of them. She knew most of the blame lay on Cammy's shoulders. Somehow she couldn't help but think it was John who lay on Cammy's shoulders only a few minutes ago, quite literally. She witnessed it with her own eyes. Cameron's response didn't help any and seemed to make things worse.
"What do you want from me?" Savannah asked. "I've given you everything - EVERYTHING."
Cammy was bothered by Savannah's grief. It was the greatest pain she ever saw Savannah in. It was the worst kind of pain too. It was emotional pain.
"Savannah, I…." Cammy started.
Savannah was upset and she was angry. It wasn't how she wanted to see the people she cared about and love, act and treat each other. She looked at both of them with contempt.
"SHUT UP." Savannah said. "Look at both of you."
Cameron was infuriated with Cammy. She believed everything was her doing. She was beyond furious and upset at her for the level of pain Savannah currently experienced.
"This is your fault." Cameron said to Cammy. "You're going to pay for this."
Cameron shoved Cammy.
Cammy was caught off guard and fell. She came back up immediately and advanced on Cameron.
The tears still flowed down Savannah's cheeks. She looked at both of them. She knew how it was going to end. She couldn't help but think of someone who kept a wild animal for a pet. At some point in time, the wild animal's instincts would rise to the surface. It would become what it truly was, a wild animal.
"Stop!" Savannah softly said. "Stop…."
Cammy came at Cameron and sent her flying down the hall
Savannah watched as the two people she loved the most began to fight. Her tears never slowed or stopped. It was too much. It wasn't what she wanted. It was more than she could bear to see.
"Stop now or I'm leaving." Savannah softly said.
Cameron got up and came back at Cammy.
Savannah watched them. She couldn't see or hear anymore. The tears ran down her cheeks. She turned her back to them and started to walk away. Her crying intensified. She couldn't take it anymore. She was done.
Cammy and Cameron grabbed a hold of each other. Each tried to get the other in a position so they could tear their head off. They blamed each other for everything which happened, leading up until now.
They both heard what Savannah said. They didn't listen. They both heard what she said, but they didn't listen to it. Now they saw her walk away. She'd turned her back on both of them. It looked like Savannah rejected both of them.
Cammy could see what they were doing to Savannah.
"We're hurting her." Cammy said.
Cameron relaxed her grip. The full magnitude of everything began to weigh on her.
"What have we done?" Cameron asked.
They slowly released each other and watched as Savannah walked around the corner sobbing deeply from within. She never looked back….
They both knew in that instant they were never going to see her again. They terminated her love for them. It was both of their faults. There was nobody to blame but themselves.
John Henry watched the whole thing unfold. It was a nightmare. Cameron and Cammy were going to fight until one of them was terminated. They were really going to do it. There was no stopping them. Savannah could have stopped them, but she didn't. She could have 'ordered' them to stop, but she didn't. She could have put herself between them, but she didn't. Savannah didn't do anything to stop them, but show them her true feelings and how much they both hurt her.
He didn't understand anything Savannah forced them to do, would solve nothing in the long run. It was a problem they needed to address themselves, or it would never go away or be fixed.
Now they did something even worse than fight each other. They HURT Savannah in the worst way possible. They hurt her inside. They hurt her heart and hurt her mind.
John Henry watched as Savannah turned the corner away from Cammy and Cameron. He felt he needed to do something for Savannah. He headed off after her….
When he saw she didn't look back at Cameron and Cammy, he knew what it meant. Savannah was going to leave them. She was done. She was going to leave all of them. They hurt her too much. Her words echoed in his mind when she asked them what they wanted from her. She did give them everything. She gave more than anyone in the Resistance ever needed to give. It was done in multiple timelines as well. He needed to hurry.
As soon as Savannah turned the corner, she ran. She ran down the corridor and turned at another hallway and then doubled back through another. She made it out to the carpool. She tried to make it appear she went the other way. If they followed her, they would go in the wrong direction. They taught her how to escape and elude a Terminator. Now it was exactly what she was about to do. Much to her surprise, there was an SUV sitting there stopped at a crazy angle. It was right in the middle of the aisle.
It was the one Cameron arrived in. Cam left the keys in it in her haste to follow Cameron. It would allow her the fastest way to depart the Resistance base.
Savannah started it and drove off….
She only knew she wanted to be away from there. She couldn't take it any more. She gave her whole life to all of them. Was this all the more they thought of her? Did they ever think about her and what she wanted? Everything she did was what they wanted her to do. She was a person too. She had her own feelings. How could they do this to her? How?
Savannah realized at that moment she was nobody. She could have stopped them like she did earlier. Where did it get her or them? They were back at it again worse than ever. Maybe they needed to think for once. Everything wasn't written in stone. She trained for most of her life. She was a good student. Now it was time to be the teacher.
Cameron and Cammy stopped fighting and went after her. They hurried around the corner. She was gone. A new fear gripped both of them. Savannah was going to leave both of them forever. They made her do it. They damaged her love. They damaged her. They drove her away. They lost her.
John Henry was there now as well. Savannah should have been between them. She wasn't. He was more than a little surprised.
"Where is she?" John Henry asked.
Cameron and Cammy looked at each other. Savannah should have been between John Henry and them.
They couldn't find her. She was able to evade and elude them. She was gone.
Cameron tried to put it together. There was only one possibility left.
"She must have doubled back and gone to the carpool." Cameron said.
The three of them headed to the carpool.
They reached the carpool and looked around.
Cameron looked where Cam left the SUV. She looked back and she went to the base earlier and saw Cam get out of it to follow her. The SUV wasn't there.
"My SUV is gone." Cameron said. "Cam left it parked right here."
John Henry needed to plug back in. He needed his server. He would have CamNet assist him. They should be able to locate her.
"Let me go back and track it." John Henry said. "I will do everything in my power to find her."
Cameron stopped him. It all began to 'click' now for her. Savannah was trained for this very thing since she was a small girl. They would never find her.
"It won't do any good." Cameron said. "She'll evade and elude our detection. She's probably acquired another vehicle, or soon will. She knows everything we will do or attempt. The more we look for her, the deeper she will go."
John Henry and CamNet were the two most powerful computer systems on earth. He wasn't going to sit back. He would be able to turn something up. He at least needed to try.
"I'm going to see what I can find." John Henry said.
Cameron headed out onto the carpool area. Cammy followed her.
Cameron looked at Cammy's figure.
"Are you going to go like that?" Cameron asked.
Cammy was still naked. She didn't care if she was nude. She needed to find Savannah. She couldn't let anything happen to her.
"Yes." Cammy said. "This is how a 'Bitch Whore' should be 'dressed'."
Cameron wanted Cammy to have some dignity. She also didn't want reports of a nude female running around to get out. She stripped off her shirt and handed it to Cammy.
"It will have to act as a 'miniskirt'." Cameron said. "Be mindful when you bend over. It is VERY 'mini'."
Cameron actually wore several mini skirts at different times. Some of them were even a micro mini skirt. Anything she did other than standing or walking, always proved to be quite revealing. The fact she never wore underwear when she did, only made it more obvious. It was mainly used as a distraction technique. It proved quite effective.
Cammy didn't care who saw her. Savannah was the only thing which mattered. She was mindful Cameron wanted her to have some clothing, and some dignity. It was something Cameron didn't need to do.
"Thanks." Cammy said. "It will allow us to move the recovery operation forward more smoothly."
Cameron wore only her pants and a purple bra. The evidence of her previous damage could be seen, most of it was still covered. She didn't like the term 'recovery'.
"It's a rescue operation." Cameron said. "The only thing we've killed is Savannah love."
Both Cameron and Cammy headed out to search as they awaited instructions from John Henry.
Cameron and Cammy both knew if Savannah tried to evade and elude them, she would. They both taught her well how to run and hide from humans and Terminators….
Now Savannah would pit herself against them. Neither one of them thought the chances of their success were very high. Savannah was an excellent student. She was perfect at everything she did. She did it over and over until she was perfect. They were never going to find her. They both knew it. They still needed to try. They couldn't just wait there and do nothing.
John Henry plugged back in. CamNet already relinquished control. CamNet was aware of the situation as both of their systems searched for Savannah. He could tell CamNet was highly upset, as well as agitated, about what occurred.
They should have been able to pick her up. There was nothing. It was as if Savannah vanished.
John Henry directed both Cameron and Cammy where to search. Cameron told him not to pull anyone else off their assignments. All they would do is drive Savannah further underground.
If Savannah didn't go to Palmdale to see Allison, or Young Allison, they weren't going to find her. If she did go there, it really would be the end. They didn't believe she would ever come home. She would seek comfort with Allison. Soon enough, it would expand to Young Allison as well.
A new fear crossed Cameron's mind. What if Savannah took Young Allison and they both ran? Once they did, they would both leave and never come back. It could happen. They loved each other and they would work together.
She thought about alerting the Young Detail but decided against it. Savannah would bide her time and wait. She would get them to send all their forces in the wrong directions. Everything she could think of, Savannah would do the opposite. Savannah would know they knew it too. She could then do what they thought she would do because it was what she should do, but they would think she wouldn't. It was clear to her they were in a mess. Savannah held all the cards. It was up to Savannah how and when she would play them.
Cameron and Cammy searched fruitlessly.
The time began to drag on. There was no resolution in sight. They needed additional help. What was the best way to get it? Who could help them the most?
Cameron called Anna and alerted her to the recent 'developments'. She hoped for some 'inside information' as to what Savannah would do or where she would go.
Anna ran Cameron's program with the 'Neural Interface' from Savannah. She knew right away Savannah wouldn't be found Terminator style. Savannah was human and would think outside the box. She knew how to defeat them.
"If Savannah doesn't want to be found." Anna said. "You won't find her."
Cameron ran some places by Anna for evaluation. She hoped one of them would be somewhere Anna thought she might go.
Anna was 'Cameron', but she was 'Savannah' too. Savannah did the 'Neural Interface' with her at least once a week. Often it was even two or three times a week. It made her very much more like Savannah. No other Terminator possessed as much human interaction, or had any more human traits.
"I doubt it." Anna said. "She'll do the unexpected. She'll outsmart you and out think you."
Cameron didn't think Savannah took much with her.
"I still have to try." Cameron said. "All she has are the clothes on her back and her Glock."
Anna thought about the weapons and reserves they kept in the SUVs. There was food and water too.
"She also has an SUV with enough firepower to level a city block." Anna said.
Cameron knew it was normally the case. The SUV Cam and her returned in was obtained earlier in the night. It wasn't stocked with anything.
"No. She will have abandoned it by now." Cameron said. "It was a recent acquisition. There's nothing in it. She has no money and her phone is still here."
Anna didn't think it mattered. Savannah had more than enough to obtain anything she needed.
"She has her Glock." Anna said. "She doesn't need money or anything else."
Cameron hoped Anna would be more helpful. The conversation with her seemed to be just the opposite. She wondered if Anna was toying with them.
"I'm worried about her." Cameron said. "So is Cammy."
Anna wasn't sure if they even knew what they were fighting about. She decided to ask them. Maybe it would make them think about it a little more.
"Do you know what you two are really fighting over?" Anna asked.
Cameron tilted her head slightly. What kind of a question was that?
"I do." Cameron said. "We're fighting over Savannah."
Anna wanted to know more about what set it off.
"What about the part where John and Cammy almost…. You know." Anna said.
Cameron thought about the most recent event. She didn't consider all the past events.
"Cammy is me." Cameron said. "It was the fact Cammy made John think she was Savannah which upset me the most. Cammy almost stole a special moment from both John and Savannah. It wasn't right."
Cameron believed Future Riley stole something special from her when she was with John. She didn't want it to happen to Savannah, even if it was indirect and different. It was just the idea.
Anna knew how Cameron 'felt'. She wanted to see if there were really any changes.
"The inevitable 'coupling' of John and Savannah doesn't bother you?" Anna asked.
Cameron wanted John protected. She also wanted Savannah. If she found Savannah, she knew what she needed to do.
"It does." Cameron said. "It MUST be. I want it for Savannah and John. It's inevitable. John must be protected. If John doesn't take her, I will."
Anna already knew it.
"Is it what Savannah wants?" Anna asked. "Have you ever asked what she wants?"
Cameron wasn't sure what her question was supposed to mean. Of course she knew what Savannah wanted. It was all the things she told Savannah she wanted.
"Hold on." Cameron said. "John Henry has informed me he's located the SUV."
Anna hoped Cameron would have answered her question. She didn't. What they found didn't matter. None of it would. She knew Cameron wouldn't listen to her, not yet. Cammy and her needed to work together first and become one. She told Cameron what she believed.
"She won't be in it." Anna said. "She will be where you least expect to find her."
Cameron wasn't sure what it meant. She already named all the places Savannah could be. There were millions of other places she couldn't be.
"I'll call you back." Cameron said. "If she comes there, please call me, even when she asks you not to. Don't make me call Claire and ask her to tell me, she will."
Anna thought about it. She believed Allison and Young Allison would be loyal to Savannah. Claire was loyal to Cameron.
"Claire would." Anna said. "I'll let you know."
Cameron wondered if she missed anything.
"Can you think of anything else?" Cameron asked.
Anna wanted Cameron to know one more thing.
"If Savannah comes for Allison, she will go with her." Anna said.
Cameron already figured as much. There were two of them there in Palmdale.
"Which one will it be?" Cameron asked.
Anna believed the answer was self explanatory.
"It can be either of them, or even both of them." Anna said. "Either one of them will go with her, and they will never look back. Every Allison will go with Savannah. It's the one love which can never be broken, no matter how much someone tries to end it."
A new fear gripped Cameron. She interfered with Vanna and Allison's relationship. She thought of her last view of Savannah. Anna's words made it seem worse now.
"Savannah didn't look back when she left." Cameron said.
Anna already told Cameron the answer about Savannah.
"It leaves Cammy and you with a lot to think about, and what you both have done to Savannah." Anna said. "THINK about Savannah and what she wants the most."
Anna broke the connection.
It sounded like a real mess at the Resistance base.
Anna thought about it and laughed, she knew how it would play out. Savannah would be in the last place they would expect to find her. She laughed again. She knew Savannah was protected. She laughed again. She DID tell Cameron it would be where she would least expect to find her.
Cameron looked at the phone after Anna hung up. What was half the conversation about?
Cammy and Cameron searched for hours. All leads lead to nowhere. John Henry and CamNet could find nothing. Savannah was able to successfully evade and elude all of them. She did it in a very short time too.
Cameron was very dissatisfied.
"I won't stop searching until I find her." Cameron said. "Savannah is my only priority."
John Henry wondered if Cameron forgot about a few other things.
"What about John?" John Henry asked.
Cameron figured one of the girls could take over for her.
"There are others to look after him, for everything." Cameron said.
John Henry wondered about the real issue.
"What about Savannah?" John Henry asked.
Cameron wasn't in the mood for games.
"I think we both know the answer to that." Cameron said.
John Henry believed he did know the answer.
"Indeed." John Henry said.
Cameron needed some help. Cammy and her searched for hours already without a single clue.
"Is there any word from Palmdale?" Cameron asked.
Anna told John Henry to patch Cameron to her when she called again.
"Yes." John Henry said. "Anna is on the line."
Cameron was afraid she was going to hear one or both Allisons were gone. If they were, it was over.
"Transfer it to me." Cameron said.
Anna thought Cameron and Cammy looked long enough for the night. They should have been able to work through all their differences. The fear which built up inside of both of them should help quell any future disturbances, at least for now.
"Savannah is in the last place you would look." Anna said.
Cameron knew Anna already told her the same thing earlier. She still didn't know what it meant. She needed to find out more.
"Did Savannah contact you?" Cameron asked. "How do you know?"
Anna wanted Cameron to think.
"Do you know where it is?" Anna asked.
There was a long moment of silence. There was one place she would have looked last on her own. She didn't see why Savannah would go there. Savannah wanted to avoid them. Or did she?
"I do." Cameron finally said. "Thanks, Anna, but you could have told me the same information hours ago."
Anna smiled to herself. She knew what Savannah wanted Cameron and Cammy to do.
"Actually, I did." Anna said.
Cameron called Cammy, who now drove the SUV Savannah abandoned and told her where to meet her. They were both skeptical. It was the last place both of them would look on their own.
Cameron and Cammy moved silently. They didn't want to give their position away. They looked around as they approached the door.
"I'm going to try it." Cameron whispered.
Cammy nodded. They needed to find out. She couldn't let anything happen to Savannah.
Cameron soundlessly turned the handle, it was unlocked. They quickly looked at each other. Maybe they would be met with a Taser. They both entered the room. There was no resistance or opposition. There was just one thing.
They silently stood and looked down at Savannah.
She was asleep in her bed….
It was the point of origin.
Cameron and Cammy didn't fight while they searched for Savannah. They worked together. The fact wasn't lost on them. It was also a warning.
Closing monologue by Cameron:
Evade And Elude
Many questions arise over time
Some may be intentionally skewed
There's not always an answer
Even if they push and intrude
Often the askers are the ones
Who think they are shrewd
It is really only themselves
That they actually delude
Some are more outgoing
Others are viewed as a prude
In the end it doesn't matter
They all end up stripped and nude
Each to his own
Wants others to include
It determines who is rejected
And who are those pursued
Many do not want to be subdued
They see the method as crude
They back away preferring to seclude
They choose to evade and elude
Nobody
