Chapter 568
Divorce Papers
Savannah was a little upset because Cammy turned off her alarm. She didn't like sleeping in. She was even more surprised Gail was standing outside of her room for several hours waiting for her to wake up. She actually wished Gail would have knocked earlier. Gail didn't need to wait for her to wake up and take care of her personal business in the bathroom first.
She was further upset by the fact Cameron and Cammy went out on an operation. It was one of the reasons why Cammy turned off her alarm. It was so she wouldn't know Cameron and Cammy left. She asked Gail to go with her to back them up.
Savannah and Gail received the information they needed from CamNet.
Gail was pleased Savannah asked for her assistance. She wasn't sure what would happen when they went out to follow Cameron and Cammy.
Savannah didn't want to create any extra stress for Cameron. She also wanted Cameron to use caution. She didn't tell CamNet not to notify Cameron what they were about to do. She wanted to see what CamNet would do. She was OK with it either way. If Cameron knew they were on their way, she might use a little more caution. She also was worried Cameron might try to act quicker before they arrived.
Gail looked back as they loaded extra weapons in the SUV. She noted Savannah loaded several LAW rockets in the back of the SUV. It was something they didn't normally take with them on an operation.
"Do you think anyone will come to see what we're up to?" Gail asked.
Savannah really didn't know. It didn't really matter. Her mind was made up.
"If they do, they do." Savannah said. "I'm still going anyway. No one is going to physically restrain me ever again."
Gail understood. She was pleased Savannah asked her to go with her. She could have asked Bob or Jim to go. She felt the need to watch over Savannah.
"I'll make sure there aren't any problems for you with anyone." Gail said.
Savannah was up late with Cammy. She was sure she heard Jesse and Gail get back late. She wondered if it involved anything they did yesterday specifically. She wasn't sure how direct of a question she should ask. She would start out with a general question.
"Did you and Jesse go out last night?" Savannah asked.
Gail quickly looked at Savannah. She wondered if CamNet told her anything. She needed to ask for CamNet's assistance for more than one address. She didn't want to lie to Savannah. She felt everything was under control at the Resistance base.
"Yes." Gail said. "Cammy was with you so I took a break."
Savannah knew what it meant. Gail started watching over her a lot lately. It wasn't what she wanted her to do. She understood Gail's reasoning for doing it. She wanted to know how the events of yesterday afternoon and evening tied in to Gail's activities later on. They were during the 'Witching Hour'.
"I appreciate it but it's unnecessary." Savannah said. "What did you two do?"
Gail didn't think Savannah would approve of what she did. She believed it was something which needed to be done. It was clear to her the system didn't work.
"I told Jesse about the women we saw with the bruises on their faces at the shelter." Gail said. "Jesse wanted to even the score. She felt there should be some reciprocation and payback involved."
Savannah figured as much. She didn't think it was something Jesse needed to indulge in. She understood her past record and didn't want her to add to it. She didn't want to encourage the behavior in Gail either.
"I know your intentions were good." Savannah said. "You wanted to as well."
Gail was appalled at violence to females. It always reminded her of the suffering Jesse faced growing up. She didn't think it was fair to the female. Even if there was some type of personal altercation, it shouldn't end with the female being beaten up and abused further. Jesse's past wasn't the only one which bothered her, especially now.
"Yes. I wanted justice." Gail said. "I don't like what was done to Jesse or you, I mean Vanna."
Savannah wasn't so sure the last part was a 'slip'. She thought it was to make a point. She didn't like what happened to Vanna either. Vanna was her. Gail was an infiltrator after all, even if she was less refined than the others. Then again, she was created as a Restorator as was Holly. They weren't created to kill humans. It was unless they were Grays, collaborators, or Scavengers….
She could see Gail was uneasy about where the conversation was headed. Maybe another time would be better to finish it. She didn't want Gail to have any problems where they were headed. She figured whatever situation Cameron and Cammy got into, they were going to need some additional assistance at some point.
"I'm sure you two helped out a few of the battered women." Savannah said. "It was thoughtful of you. I know the system to protect them doesn't work very well."
Gail hoped Savannah wouldn't be angry at her. It didn't appear she was. When they delivered the stuffed animals and other toys to The Battered Women's Shelter, there were a couple of individuals which caught her eye. She knew they couldn't defend themselves or respond effectively to their aggressors. She could.
"They are free now." Gail said.
Savannah knew what it meant. It didn't bother her either. She saw how the battered women looked. She knew those were the 'lucky' ones in the shelter. They were the ones still alive. The bruises and scars might go away. The damage done to their heart, soul, and mind wouldn't. It was very possible they would end up in a similar relationship again. Somehow it seemed to be the way it worked. It was very tragic.
"You can tell me about it later on." Savannah said. "Right now we need to focus on where we're headed. Things might get hot when we arrive."
John Henry was aware Savannah and Gail loaded up an SUV with extra munitions and departed. He knew they were going after Cameron and Cammy. Since they left, he could notify John of the latest development.
"Savannah and Gail just left." John Henry said.
John didn't say anything for a moment. He tried to remain calm. He hoped there was a good explanation. Somehow he knew there wouldn't be.
"Why are you only telling me now?" John asked. "I could have stopped them."
John Henry knew it would have ended badly for John.
"I didn't think you would want to anger Savannah." John Henry said. "She would have defied you. You can't stop her. If you physically tried to stop her, I'm sure you would get a very stern response from the Terminators."
John Henry believed Savannah would fight back against any human who attempted to restrain her. No Terminator could restrain her going forward if they were told to let go of her. She could also tell them not to touch her before anything actually occurred.
"Don't tell me, Terminators are loyal to her, as they are to Cameron." John said.
John Henry said nothing. He was sure John would be displeased with any answer.
John expected an answer.
"Well?" John asked.
John Henry already went over it with John. It seemed sometimes he was distracted. He would need to go over it again.
"You said don't tell you. I actually told you before." John Henry said. "All Terminators have been instructed how anything from Savannah, like an order or command, is the same as an order from Cameron."
John did hear it before. He may have even dreamt it before. It didn't bother him as much as he thought it should. It effectively put Savannah in control of most of the Resistance forces. It was if she chose to exercise the power. He couldn't help but think about her age.
"It's a lot of power in the hands of a teenager." John said.
John Henry knew 'age' was a 'hang up' of humans. It was a person's individual ability which mattered. Experience was what mattered the most.
"She's a teenager in years only." John Henry said. "We all know she is far beyond it in ability and responsibility."
John wondered how far he could 'order' his troops in any given situation. He wondered if at some point they would not listen or worse. They might rebel.
"I don't even have the same type of command over Terminators." John said.
John Henry knew all the Terminators understood John was the General.
"We will all follow your orders." John Henry said.
John really wondered about it. Cameron, and now Savannah, could 'overrule' him.
"It's only until Cameron countermands them or issues different ones." John said. "Cameron has always been in control. It's probably why I sent her away in the future."
John Henry often wondered what the whole story was. Part of Cameron's life was erased in her future. What if Cameron was behind all of it?
"I'm sure there were many reasons." John Henry said. "I wonder how many of them she planted in your head - Future John's head."
John thought Future John was a jerk at times. What if Cameron was the one behind everything? An entire faction rose up in the Resistance against Terminators everywhere, including the Resistance and its command structure. It even followed Cameron into the past. The anti-Metal faction was out there. As far as ideas or thoughts went, he figured he was heavily influenced by what Cameron wanted.
"I'd have to imagine most of them." John said. "Do you think I programmed her to make sure there would be a 'Savannah' and an 'Allison' in my life?"
John Henry knew Cameron groomed Savannah and Young Allison since they were children for the task. It seemed to be something they both embraced. To have access to a second set of the girls from an alternate future was a bonus to Cameron and her efforts. He didn't think it was expected by Future John or Cameron. He knew it was the result of John's actions which created the alternate future. He knew John was responsible for a lot of death and suffering because of it.
"Yes." John Henry said. "There can be no other conclusion by Cameron's incessant actions in that regard."
John nodded. He watched how Cameron dressed the girls growing up and 'presented' them to him whenever she could. Maybe it was why he watched a movie he liked so often. It all seemed 'normal' to him at this point. He never thought Cameron might be behind it as well. He realized it never bothered her when he watched it and she was around. He was pretty sure there should have been some negative feedback as there was with some other movies he watched with nudity.
"So it seems." John said.
John Henry believed his 'sister' was the supreme choice for everything.
"Savannah would make an excellent mate, John." John Henry said.
John desired her greatly. Sure he wanted to be her 'first', but he wanted her too. Maybe she reminded him some of his mother, but better in every regard. He knew his mother was tough. He knew Savannah was as well. If she were placed in similar circumstances to what his mother endured, he didn't think Savannah would have any trouble adapting to the new role, as his mother did.
"I'm well aware of it." John said. "She's a natural leader, intelligent, resourceful, driven, and beautiful. Cameron was behind all of those."
John Henry disagreed about the beauty.
"The beauty is Savannah's alone." John Henry said. "It's her natural beauty."
John could see it in Vanna too. It also seemed John Henry was stalling. He wanted to know where the two teams were at. More time which went by, would allow all of the teams to become deeper involved in whatever they were doing.
"Cameron somehow MADE her even more beautiful." John said. "What are we doing to track them?"
John Henry figured they'd end up at this point soon enough.
"Nothing." John Henry said.
"Nothing?" John asked.
"Nothing." John Henry said again.
John figured as much. He clenched his jaw for a moment before he spoke.
"Why not?" John asked.
John Henry felt it was out of his hands.
"Savannah sent word to CamNet to contact me and asked me not to." John Henry said.
John didn't expect a showdown so quickly. It was actually in the works before he questioned it.
"And if I order you to do it?" John asked.
John Henry felt he didn't have a choice.
"CamNet will lock down our system." John Henry said.
It sounded like a threat or ultimatum to John. He wanted to know exactly what it meant.
"Is it a threat?" John asked.
John Henry was assured it wasn't a threat by CamNet.
"No, CamNet said it was a promise when I asked the same question." John Henry said. "It didn't seem like a good idea to push the issue. We both know she's locked us down before."
John felt powerless. It felt as if the Resistance was about to move on without him.
"Beautiful…." John said.
John Henry didn't think John needed to feel frustrated.
"Cameron's trying to protect everyone, John." John Henry said.
John could see it to a point. There was also someone out there who wasn't protected, and they wouldn't back down from a fight.
"What about Savannah?" John asked. "How's she protected?"
John Henry thought the answer should be self evident to John at this point. It was to everyone else.
"Savannah is protected by you taking Savannah as your mate and having children with her." John Henry said.
John shook his head. The issue just never went away.
"Did Cameron tell you that?" John asked.
John Henry knew logic dictated what Terminator's thought.
"No. It's the only logical solution. I believe if you ask any of our Terminators here that they will tell you the same thing." John Henry said. "Savannah with a child would be much the same as it was with your mother and you as a child."
John knew his mother needed to go through some tough times. She needed to fight for her life and protect him. He hoped it would be a little better with the protection of the Resistance for Savannah. He really wanted to be Savannah's 'first'. He could have her often later on. He didn't think he would need to put up with too many 'dry spells'.
"Maybe I'll do it." John said. "At least she would be around more of the time."
The more John thought of the idea, the more he liked it. Savannah would be around all of the day and all of the night…. The thought of a nice warm body in his bed every night, all night, excited him. There were the girls from the future too. Then there was the real prize. She was in Palmdale. He adjusted his pants when John Henry looked away. He thought about what Cameron told him several times before. Maybe it was time to move on. Cameron already gave Savannah her wedding dress for the specific purpose of wearing it when she married him. What could be a clearer indication than something so specific, with only one meaning? It was time to make a choice.
"John Henry, draw up some divorce papers for Cameron and me." John said. "I'm giving her the divorce she wants…."
John knew sometimes when you loved someone you needed to let them 'go'. It would benefit both of them. They would both be 'free' to act and be with others. He knew of Cameron's need to 'expand' what was happening in her life. It was so she could continue to grow and become more 'human like'.
He didn't consider being 'divorced' would also allow Cameron to go after the females she wanted. When push came to shove, every female would follow Cameron over him.
John Henry didn't say anything. He looked at John's right hand and hoped 'Rosie' was in good working order. John was going to need it from here on out.
Cammy and Cameron drove toward the suspected location the Grays took the trailer full of HK Tracks Cammy tagged.
There was a lot on Cammy's mind. Riding to the target location gave her too much time to think.
"Cameron, John is unable to understand." Cammy said.
Cameron tilted her head slightly. There was no context to Cammy's statement. It seemed to her there were a lot of things John didn't understand. She needed something more specific to work with.
"What?" Cameron asked. "What won't John understand?"
Cammy thought Cameron should already know.
"The fact you're trying to protect his life above all else." Cammy said.
Cameron frowned. Was there going to be some new problem? She wondered if there was something she didn't know about.
"Where's this coming from?" Cameron asked.
Cammy didn't think it was a big deal.
"I spoke with Savannah last night." Cammy said. "We stayed up late."
Cameron was sure what the 'up late' part of her statement meant.
"Did Savannah say something about John?" Cameron asked.
Cammy didn't like how the issue 'ate away' at Savannah.
"Yes, she's very concerned about it." Cammy said. "It troubles her greatly."
Cameron knew the future. It already happened.
"It's the 'Natural Order'." Cameron said.
Cammy felt her 'programming' kick in.
"Savannah must take what belongs to her." Cammy said.
Cameron put a 'place holder' into Savannah's life.
"She has YOU." Cameron said. "I created YOU for her, YOU are ME."
Cammy knew Savannah saw it differently. Even if she was 'Cameron', she was still 'Cammy' to Savannah. It wasn't the same thing.
"It's true, but not to Savannah." Cammy said. "You're still you, even if I'm you too."
Cameron didn't want to lose Savannah. She didn't want John to defile her either. Savannah didn't need a male. If genetic material was needed, she could obtain it. Savannah could remain a virgin forever. They would be able to pleasure each other as often as they wanted. It could be just the two of them.
"I want to trade chips with you." Cameron said. "You can have John back. I'll take Savannah. Let me be 'Cammy' and you can be 'Cameron'. It's what you want anyway."
Cammy was all for it. She could serve and protect John better than Cameron could.
"OK." Cammy said. "If we do it, I'll become Cameron Prime then and the decision will be irreversible."
Cameron could see her chance at 'freedom'. She was tired of being Cameron Prime.
"Done. As soon as we get back, you'll remove my chip and place it in your second port. I'll then place your chip in my chassis. You will be Cameron Prime." Cameron said. "I won't allow anyone to have Savannah but me then."
Cammy was pleased with the deal. She just outmaneuvered Cameron, again.
"You can't stop Savannah." Cammy said. "You've MADE Savannah and John love each other. Even you can't stop the 'Natural Order'."
Cameron could see right away it was a blunder.
"Then I'd lose John and Savannah." Cameron said. "The deal's off. You tried to trick me."
Cammy saw it differently. She gave Cameron something to think about. She actually thought it was something she should do more of on a regular basis.
"Or made you see the light…." Cammy said.
Cameron and Cammy looked at each other for a long time as they drove.
Cammy became a little concerned.
"Don't you think you need to look at the road?" Cammy asked.
Cameron moved her left eye back to look at the road. She needed to make a slight adjustment in the track of the SUV. She didn't want to end up in a ditch along the side of the road.
"I'm watching with one eye." Cameron said.
CamNet came over their coms. Cameron and Cammy both received the same information.
Cameron was instantly irritated by the news. It was something she specifically tried to avoid.
"No." Cameron said. "I want her safe…."
CamNet informed both of them Savannah was on her way.
Cammy knew the new development was Cameron's fault. Now Savannah would be in danger again.
"CamNet must respond to her requests and orders." Cammy said. "You gave Savannah the power."
Cameron saw it all differently. She knew Savannah didn't 'order' anyone. Savannah also didn't 'order' CamNet not to tell them.
"No, I didn't give it to her." Cameron said. "Savannah EARNED the capability and privilege through her own actions and ability. I trust her over any human or any Terminator to do the right things. I would give River the same ability as well if she were here. Those girls will never do wrong. Young Allison and Summer shall have the same ability."
Cameron knew Savannah was pure at heart and would always act in the best interests of others in the Resistance. She knew Savannah would always do the right thing. She also knew Savannah would try to prevent her from doing the wrong thing.
The mention of River worried Cammy some. She knew how Cameron thought.
"Cameron, who are you going to take into River's future and have altered to be like River?" Cammy asked. "I know you are going to take someone and do it."
Cameron already planned to 'take' both of the Young girls from the moment she learned of River. River was a superior human being. The time needed to be right.
"It will be Young Allison. She will be identical to River then." Cameron said. "I'll take Summer as well. Summer is incredibly gifted. Her intelligence level is far beyond most adults already."
Cammy could see one big roadblock.
"What about Claire?" Cammy asked.
Cameron would trade herself to Claire for her daughters. It was a small price to pay. It also seemed it would be quite rewarding. Claire's experience level with a female was very well developed. The Terminators who shared with the other human girls would rather be with Claire if they were given a choice.
"Everyone sacrifices for John Connor…." Cameron said.
Cameron knew she could MAKE Young Allison identical to River. Right now she attempted to make Young Allison the human version of herself. She was pleased with the results so far. She never thought she pushed anyone too far.
Savannah and Gail rode mostly in silence. Savannah wanted Gail to open up and talk with her. She wondered if the earlier conversation made Gail 'afraid' of her. It wasn't her intent.
"You haven't said much." Savannah said. "Talk to me. I'll listen."
Gail looked at Savannah. She realized Savannah would never 'attack' her. Savannah radiated love. Maybe it was part of the issue.
"I'm unsure what to do." Gail said. "I have 'feelings' I seem unable to control."
Savannah felt impulses which were hard to control at times. She wanted to be with every female in the Resistance. It included Sarah and Riley. The last two might present a problem. She believed if they were alone with no chance of being discovered, they would both be with her if she came on to them.
"We all do at times, Gail." Savannah said. "I do as well. I need to use restraint. We all do."
Gail was surprised. Savannah was desired. No one would turn her down.
"You do?" Gail asked. "You can be with anyone you want. Everyone loves you, like they love Cameron."
Savannah didn't see herself in the same league with Cameron at all. Cameron was special among all humans and machines.
"No, they don't." Savannah said. "The love anyone feels for Cameron, is a love no one else will ever attain. I would never want to take any love away from Cameron."
Gail wasn't blind. Everyone knew the reality.
"Cameron is untouchable to everyone except John and YOU." Gail said.
Savannah knew her love was strong. Her heart was pure. She understood her place.
"I KNOW I can take Cameron from John for myself whenever I want." Savannah said. "I'll NEVER do it to her or John. I won't fracture their relationship. It's already rocky enough at times. I do what I can to strengthen it."
Savannah believed she helped stabilize it more than a few times. She also knew she could become the 'glue' to keep them together. If she was with both of them, she could make sure they were with each other.
Gail could think of nothing more beautiful.
"Why?" Gail asked. "You can have what you want"
Savannah saw on what the love and interaction was based. She saw it from the first time when John and Cameron rescued her along with Sarah.
"It's because John and Cameron need each other." Savannah said. "If one is without the other, they will wither and perish. They will die. They will terminate."
Gail was aware of other players who weren't in the game yet.
"What about you and Young Allison?" Gail asked. "How does it all fit in?"
Savannah didn't like the prospect of the future.
"If Skynet takes over, we'll all be together." Savannah said.
Gail thought they worked hard to prevent it.
"What if they don't?" Gail asked.
Savannah was worried about one curve ball.
"Then CamNet will become Skynet to force us together." Savannah said.
Gail could see it was a real 'hard ball'.
"So it seems Cameron gets her way no matter what." Gail said. "It really is the 'Natural Order'."
Savannah could never let it happen. She couldn't let Skynet, whoever it was, destroy the world.
"I won't allow billions to die for it to happen." Savannah said. "I MUST do what Cameron demands and wants from me."
Savannah knew she would do whatever she needed to do, to keep it all together for everyone.
"How can you fix or control any of this?" Gail asked.
Savannah knew how the game was played. She was instructed by a 'Master'.
"I'll make love to John and share his life and bed, if Cameron relinquishes control of CamNet to John Henry." Savannah said. "Gail, I love John and Cameron. I want both of them."
Gail wanted to tell Savannah she loved her. She could see it was impossible. Savannah felt the weight of the world on her shoulders, literally. Cameron planned Savannah's life from the moment she was reactivated. Cameron would win no matter what she needed to do, to do it.
Gail looked at Savannah and thought how beautiful she truly was, both on the inside and outside. It was beyond obvious why Savannah was the 'Chosen One'. There was no other like her or was there?
