Chapter 730
Have You
Previously:
Cameron was upset because Cammy indicated she was superior to her in every way, including her association with Savannah. She wanted Cammy off of her team.
Cammy collected her things because she was told she needed to join John's team.
Gail prepared the explosives to take to Sheila and Ally.
With a change in recent events, all the assignments needed to be reassessed.
Cammy's assignment was changed again. She was to remain with Gail. She told Gail she would deliver the explosives to Sheila and Ally.
She took the explosive and headed out. She went to the rear of the building. She jumped up to catch the first exposed rung of the rooftop access ladder. She jumped a little further than anticipated and caught the fifth exposed rung and pulled herself up. She continued up the ladder until she reached the roof. She moved across the roof to the opening made in the central air conditioning ducting. She didn't see Sheila or Ally.
Cammy decided she would enter the building through the opening they made.
Sheila arrived at the opening.
"Long time, no see, love" Sheila said.
Cammy handed the C-4 to Sheila.
"Time is meaningless to us." Cammy said.
Their hands lingered together for a few seconds as their eyes fixated on each other. They both thought of their eight years in the past together, alone.
"Thanks, love." Sheila said. "You know I like things hot, especially if they go 'boom'."
Cammy flashed her a smile and slowly withdrew her hand from Sheila's hand.
"Is there anything I can do inside to help?" Cammy asked.
Sheila wanted to set the charge and get out.
"We've got this covered." Sheila said. "As soon as we get everything set up, we can leave."
Cammy would have liked to have joined Sheila inside. It wouldn't be the case right now. She headed for the ladder off the roof.
Sheila watched Cammy as she walked away. She took in her figure. It made her think of all the good times they spent together. It also made her think of the times she spent in Cammy's chassis. Since Cammy's chassis was equipped with two chip ports, Cammy could remove her chip from her chassis and place it in her second chip port. She could take control of Cammy's chassis once the chip was set.. She would remove Cammy's chip and put it in her chassis. It was something they did more than a few times. One of the times it was rather lengthy.
She blinked her eyes a couple of times to refocus her thoughts. She was about to set some explosive charges. She better concentrate on the present, instead of what happened in the past. It was behind her now. It was history. She went back through the hole in the roof and joined Ally.
Cammy looked back once as she started down the ladder. She saw Sheila still looked in her direction. She felt a rush of excitement as she reflected on old times. She thought maybe later on they could do another chassis swap. She was sure Savannah would be pleased. She would immediately look like Jesse. With a little age regression, she could look like Young Jesse. It seemed like something Savannah would be intrigued with, at least for a while.
She went down the first few rungs, and then jumped the rest of the way down to the ground level in front of the cover. It wasn't too far down, even if it was. She headed for Cameron's SUV. She was anxious to see Savannah. She wasn't happy with the way Cameron treated her. Maybe she shouldn't have mouthed off earlier. It didn't seem to help any. It just slipped out. It was because she was jealous of the time Cameron spent with Savannah. It didn't matter if it wasn't sexual in nature. It just irritated her.
Ally was about to go look and see what happened to Sheila. She thought she was gone too long for such a simple procedure. She figured she was probably trying to hit on Cammy. She wondered if she could catch them kissing. She was just about to move when she saw Sheila reappear. She couldn't help but feel a little jealous. Her DNA was the same as Cammy's DNA. She needed to look like Allison. Cammy wanted to look like Cameron. She knew looks weren't everything. She also knew eight years was a long time.
"I thought you got lost." Ally said. "Or got off…."
Sheila moved back inside the rafter area and gave the C-4 to Ally.
"Don't get your panties in a bunch." Sheila said. "I'll get off soon enough. I'll make sure you do too."
Ally placed the C-4 next to some of the other explosives which were left there by the Grays.
"If they do get in a bunch, I'll let you take them off." Ally said. "I also expect to make sure you do get me off."
Sheila was going to comment further but didn't want to upset Ally any more than usual.
"This place is ready to blow." Sheila said. "Let's go before it does."
Sheila moved back up to where they pulled apart the ducting where it entered the inside of the building. She squeezed through and back onto the roof.
Ally exited after Sheila.
They put the air conditioning ducting back in place. It didn't quite fit the way it did before.
"It looks bent." Ally said. "I don't like it."
Ally fixed the dent she put into the metal earlier when she tested its strength.
"It looks much better now." Ally said. "Let's roll."
Sheila thought it was a waste of time. The entire building was going to be rubble within a day.
"It's going to look a lot worse after the C-4 goes off." Sheila said.
They moved across the roof.
"Let's hook up with Gail." Ally said.
They went to where the roof ladder was at.
Sheila looked around to make sure that nobody observed them. She didn't spot anybody.
"I dare you to jump off." Sheila said.
Ally looked down at the ground. She saw it was about a twenty five foot drop from the lip of the roof. It was a distance she could jump successfully, but she saw no reason to do so. She figured if Sheila wanted to challenge her, she could go first.
"Go for it." Ally said as she started down the ladder.
Neither girl jumped. They didn't know Cammy did most of the way down.
Sheila followed Ally down. They both dropped the last few feet to the ground over the ladder cover. They headed for Gail's van.
Gail was busy while they were gone.
"I have one surveillance camera set up." Gail said. "If anyone shows up and enters the structure, they're going to get a big surprise. John Henry can command detonate the C-4."
Sheila hoped Gail could give her some insight about Cammy.
"What's with Cammy?" Sheila asked. "She looked 'ate up'."
Gail thought it was because Cameron was going to assign Cammy to John's team.
"She was upset because Cameron kept Savannah away from her." Gail said. "Cameron was going to 'send her away' too. Cammy probably said a few things she shouldn't have. They seemed to spark the entire event."
Sheila looked over in the direction Cammy went and frowned. She thought it was time for Cammy to move on. It was only a matter of time until Cameron took Savannah away from her all of the time. She knew Cameron wouldn't be gracious about it either. If Cammy tried to hang on, she was going to face some real trouble. She knew she could easily handle both Ally and Cammy sexually and satisfy all their needs and desires. She would like to have both of them at the same time, all of the time.
"Cammy doesn't need Savannah anymore, she has me." Sheila said. "Savannah has Cameron. It's the prize we all wanted."
Gail wondered if Sheila possessed any insight as to what Cameron and Savannah may have 'done' together. It seemed like they should have done a lot, but it appeared nothing ever happened. There was no public indication of it at all.
"Have they…?" Gail asked.
Based on her personal observation, Sheila believed Savannah displayed extraordinary control not to take what was right in front of her. She knew it was Cameron who was the problem in moving the relationship forward. She seemed to be 'hung up' by her programming.
"Cameron's afraid to take what's hers." Sheila said. "Savannah knows Cameron needs to make the first move to show she is ready."
Ally and Sheila knew Gail spent a lot of time following Savannah around. They both figured there must have been some sexual activity by this point in time. If there was, they wanted to hear about it.
"What about you, Gail?" Ally asked. "Have you and Savannah…?"
Gail didn't know if she should say anything. Nothing really happened yet, so it was OK. She wouldn't compromise Savannah's integrity.
"No. We haven't done everything, not yet." Gail said. "Savannah has shown me ways to 'feel' I didn't know I could. She guided me to new doors I didn't know existed and allowed me to enter them. There is so much more to explore and find. She's a remarkable individual. Maybe she will be able to 'fix' Cameron one day."
Ally and Sheila glanced at each other with Gail's statement about Savannah being able to 'fix' Cameron. They weren't sure if it was something she should actually say. It didn't appear she meant any harm by it, other than something which might be beneficial to Cameron.
It was a trip through Gail's feelings and emotions which were ever expanding. Savannah allowed her to grow along the journey. The wait and anticipation made the journey even more special. Savannah wanted her to grow more as an individual. Her association with Jesse seemed to stunt her development. Everything for Jesse was very physically oriented. She could only 'escape' from the past when she 'finished'. She helped Jesse 'escape' from the past a lot.
Ally thought of the times she shared with Savannah. She figured she was in for a few more of those treats since Cammy and Sheila were going to hang out together much more often. She smiled at Gail in anticipation of both of their futures with Savannah.
"The final 'door' is worth the journey." Ally said. "Savannah is like Vanna, but very different. She has an emotional intensity, not just a physical presence. She isn't damaged like all of the girls from the future."
Sheila listened to the conversation and knew it was true. Vanna was more focused on the destination, which was fine with her. Savannah was more focused on the journey to the destination. It was fine with her as well. As long as the destination was reached, she really didn't care how they got there. She felt very turned on right now.
"Stop talking about this or one of you is getting in the back with me." Sheila said. "I need some 'personal attention' now with all of this talk. Unless something is about to happen, we've got some time to kill."
Ally wondered if Sheila was thinking about the people they witnessed earlier. She knew Sheila was always stimulated by violence, especially if she was the perpetrator of it. She was sure to inflict 'punishment' in specific areas on an individual, was as stimulating to Sheila as sexual activity. She thought about asking, but decided not to. Maybe asking would remind Sheila and she would start thinking of the individuals and what happened to them.
She wasn't too happy about Cammy's new love relationship with Sheila. It should have been her who was allowed to go with Sheila for eight years. It was the plan. Cammy upset Cameron, so she sent her instead to punish her. It kept her away from Savannah for eight long years.
"Cammy already left, so you're on your own." Ally said. "I'd recommend the 'vibrating finger' since you're back there by yourself. You seem to do pretty well alone most of the time anyway. I just don't think you should do it while you're driving. You're going to pile up one of these days."
Gail was pleased with Cammy's new relationship with Sheila. She counted on Sheila to keep Cammy tied up and away from Savannah. It would allow Savannah and her to spend more time together. She thought she should keep the thought to herself. She was pretty sure Ally thought along the same lines. She was aware Ally looked a lot like Cameron and Cammy, especially since they all shared the same DNA. She knew it would be stiff competition going forward. It would only take a little effort for Ally to look identical to Cameron and Cammy.
Sheila brushed off Ally's comment. It was no big deal for her to give herself a 'finish'. She didn't think it was a problem. It was natural behavior for humans. It was natural behavior for her, especially after the 'Neural Interface' with Jesse.
"It's never stopped me before to get off on my own." Sheila said. "I'm proud of what I can do for myself. I'm even prouder of what I can do for others. When one of you wants a little more, join me in the back of the van and I'll make sure you get it. I've got something for everyone."
Ally could attest to it. She personally witnessed it plenty of times.
"We've noticed." Ally said.
Sheila held up her right index finger, as Gail and Ally watched it begin to vibrate.
"Oh, brother…." Ally said.
Sheila shrugged her shoulders. She held up her left hand as the index finger began to vibrate.
"I have two hands." Sheila said. "There's one for each of you."
Gail and Ally quickly looked at each other.
Cammy reached the SUV with Cameron and Savannah. She opened the door and climbed in the back.
"Hi, Cammy." Savannah said with a smile on her face.
Cammy smiled back at Savannah before she looked at Cameron. The smile quickly faded.
"Hello. I delivered the C-4." Cammy said.
Cameron didn't care for the personal interaction between Savannah and Cammy. She saw Cammy as more of an irritant than a threat. Maybe she should ship Cammy off on another mission and get her out of their hair. Maybe the best thing to do would be to ship her to a different future and keep her there.
She needed to refocus on the current operation. John was sure someone was going to need to infiltrate the power plant at Serrano Point. He didn't want her to go. Cammy already bragged how she could do it herself. She would see if Cammy still wanted to do it or not.
"I wondered if you would want to infiltrate the power plant." Cameron said.
Cammy wasn't sure of the motive, but she was up to the challenge.
"I have all the files." Cammy said. "I can go at any point. Is it necessary?"
Cameron actually might need to send Cammy for more than one reason.
"It may be." Cameron said. "We haven't uncovered everything going on around here yet."
Savannah wanted Cammy to know a little more about the nature of the problem they encountered with Young Allison. She didn't want to get into any details.
"Cammy, I need to go to Palmdale and get some things straightened out." Savannah said. "There have been some 'problems'."
Cammy could tell Savannah was very worried about whatever she spoke of. She saw it as an opportunity to leave the area with Savannah.
"I can go with you." Cammy said. "Cameron can remain in control of the operation, instead of the General."
Cameron quickly turned around and then looked at Cammy.
"I'll be going with Savannah." Cameron said. "You may be needed elsewhere. Since you're better qualified than I am, it would be the logical choice."
Savannah was in no mood to listen to Cammy and Cameron bicker. She knew the conversation would continue to grow more and more contentious. She didn't want to hear it. There was already enough for her to worry about.
"Look, I don't want any trouble here." Savannah said. "I have enough to worry about already. I've experienced enough hurt for the day…."
Cameron knew Savannah referred to what happened earlier in her Cyborg Menagerie.
"I'm sorry. There won't be any trouble." Cameron said. "Cammy can go with us if she's not busy here. I wanted her to look after John for me."
Cammy could see Savannah was very emotionally touched by something. She knew it was Cameron's fault somehow. She wanted to support Savannah.
"I know my place." Cammy said. "There will be no problems from me."
Savannah reached out and touched both of them. She gave each of their arms a gentle squeeze as she smiled at each of them in turn. She wanted to show them she appreciated their understanding.
"Thank you." Savannah said. "Both of you. I can't have you two at odds with each other all the time. It hurts me deeply. I already have enough pain. I don't need any more, especially when it's completely unnecessary."
It was clear to both Cameron and Cammy that Savannah dealt with a lot of emotional issues and tried to put on a brave face. Neither one of them wanted to be the one who pushed Savannah over the edge during this time. They could as easily bury the hatchet, as they could use it on each other. Right now it was time to bury it. They both knew some days were worse than others. It was about Savannah and her well being.
There were a lot of things which weighed on Savannah right now.
Al and Dan looked around the target area where they suspected the boxcars may have been unloaded. It was a secluded area open to the street near a structure. It appeared to be an old one.
John was nearby with Bob.
"What do you see, Al?" John asked.
Al continued to look everything over.
"Nothing so far." Al said.
John could only speculate based upon what Ally and Sheila found in the building they checked out. Everything there was gone except the bodies.
"I think when they found out we traced the hack, they cleared everything out." John said. "They left a rigged building behind to blow up if we entered it. We need to be careful of what we find where we're at now."
Bob figured the Grays didn't want any more losses. He knew they could run. He knew they couldn't hide forever.
"After the way we hurt them, it was a wise move on their part." Bob said. "We'll find them sooner rather than later."
Dan examined the ground next to the railroad tracks.
"There are 'big rig' tire tracks in the dirt here." Dan said. "They are at a ninety degree angle to the railroad tracks. It looks like they unloaded the boxcars right here. I think the big rigs backed right up against the doors of the boxcars. It would have been easy to transfer the load. Nobody would see anything either."
John hoped they could get a lead.
"Do the tire tracks tell us anything?" John asked. "It doesn't seem like very much to go on."
Dan touched the ground where the tire tracks were.
"They have good tread definition, like new tires." Dan said. "I need to take a better look."
Al was next to the structure. He searched for a way in for a better look. He knew he needed to be on the lookout for booby traps as well.
"The door to the utility room is ajar." Al said. "One hinge is broken."
John was weary when things were a little off.
"Use caution." John said. "Someone may have tried to catch your interest."
Al examined the wall of the utility room. It was a standard construction, but old and shoddy.
"I can breach the interior wall through this area." Al said.
Since the building Ally and Sheila checked was booby trapped, John didn't want to take any chances at this location. It would be the logical place to put a bomb.
"Try a peep hole first. Do it as quietly as possible." John said. "The other place was wired to explode, it was booby trapped."
Al used his knife to make a small opening in the wall. He moved his eye up against it. He looked into the building. He used several of his different vision spectrums to inspect the interior.
"I've made a hole through the wall." Al said. "The building appears vacant inside."
Dan followed up on the tire tracks to see if he could get any clues.
"I followed the big rig tire tracks until they reached the pavement." Dan said. "There is a dip in the dirt as it joins the pavement. I found something."
Since Al reported the building was vacant, John would take any break he could get.
"What is it?" John asked.
Dan held a heavy piece of fibrous rubber.
"It's a brand new 'mud flap'." Dan said. "It was torn off as one the trucks bounced onto the pavement with a heavy load."
John Henry monitored the com traffic. The new detail would give him a starting point to search for big rigs in the area over the last few days. The fact they were looking for one with a missing mud flap would assist his search.
"Is it the left or right one?" John Henry asked.
Dan took out his phone and captured an image.
"It's the left one." Dan said. "I'm sending you a photo."
John Henry viewed the image Dan sent him. He thought it was going to be a big aid in their search for one of the big rigs.
"John, this gives us a lead on one of the trucks. I'll check traffic cameras and weigh stations for a big rig missing the left mud flap. It should match the one on the right side if the truck is new or newer." John Henry said. "Based upon the images of the tire tracks, I believe it is."
John hoped the trucks would remain together. It was something they might do for mutual support of each other. If they separated because they thought they might be tracked and attacked, it would be very hard to find the other trucks without a clue as to what they looked like. If they initially stayed together, they could get picked up on a traffic camera somewhere. If they could find the one with the missing mud flap, they might have an idea what the other ones looked like. He wasn't sure how many there were.
"They may convoy the trucks." John said. "I think they needed at least three or maybe four big rigs if the boxcars were full."
Dan checked the area thoroughly.
"I only make three sets of tire tracks." Dan said. "Only three big rigs were used here. There could be others used elsewhere. There may have been another location where things were unloaded we're unaware of."
John hoped it was their first break. They were several days behind what they were actually looking for.
"It's a start." John said. "This is excellent work. It is much more than I expected to find, especially this late in the game."
Al wanted to know if John wanted him to investigate the building further.
"Do you want me to breach the wall?" Al asked.
John was tired of playing games. It was time to send a message.
"No. Set a C-4 charge in the utility room and leave." John said. "Al set up a security camera to watch the front. Same deal for the timer to match the one Ally set or for command detonation if anyone enters."
"Affirmative…." Al said.
John hadn't heard from the other team under his control.
"John Henry, what's the story on the other team?" John asked.
John Henry knew their position, but so far they hadn't reported anything of relevance.
"They've not reported yet." John Henry said. "I don't think it is anything but a false lead."
John knew Cameron said she was going to leave with Savannah earlier, but she was still there. He really wondered what she was up to. He didn't know she was dealing with a specific domestic problem in addition to the operational one.
"Cameron, what's your situation?" John asked.
Cameron was irritated to hear from John at this particular point in time.
"We haven't decided yet." Cameron said. "Maybe Cammy can infiltrate the power plant."
John thought it might be better to contain Cameron to a specific area if she was going to stay on the operation. It might keep her from getting into as much trouble as she normally would.
"I would rather have you do it if your other problem has been resolved." John said.
Savannah didn't want to go into the nuclear power plant. She wasn't going to leave Cameron. She decided to give John a refresher on a Terminator's ability.
"Cammy knows everything Cameron does about the facility, John." Savannah said. "Cameron may still need to go elsewhere. The earlier situation is still pending. I want it left alone for now, by everyone."
John didn't know what was wrong. He knew Savannah attempted to resolve it. It must be something dealing with the girls. He thought maybe he should heed her warning and leave it alone like she asked. She wouldn't have said anything unless it was important.
"We'll wait a little while and see what develops." John said.
John Henry looked into everything related to the power plant since Cameron and Sarah were there with Derek. Mrs. Weaver is the one who took control of it. He kept track of everything which happened there over the years. He didn't see it as a problem yet. He didn't want them to be the ones who created a problem or provoked an incident.
"I don't have any record or data to indicate anything has happened at the power plant." John Henry said. "Not since Cameron took care of the last issue, and Mrs. Weaver took control."
John personally hadn't followed what occurred at the power plant recently.
"Who oversees it now since Mrs. Weaver has been away for so long?" John asked.
John Henry felt he had a pretty good idea of what went on at the power plant.
"I do." John Henry said. "Mrs. Weaver established a team which watches everything, and I watch them."
John thought of John Henry as Big Brother who had a Big Sister who looked over his shoulder.
"And CamNet watches over you." John said.
John Henry tried not to glance up at the security camera as he spoke.
"We're just one big happy family." John Henry said.
John wasn't so sure it was an accurate description.
"I don't know about the happy part, but a big family I'll agree on." John said.
John wondered who watches the watchers. Who watched over CamNet?
He hoped the problem Savannah currently needed to deal with didn't involve CamNet.
Young Allison exited the bus at the bus stop before she got on. She returned the way she came, but over several houses to the west. The escape hatch couldn't be opened from the outside. It was part of the design to keep out intruders. She needed to find a different way in.
She decided to use the approach Savannah used but from the opposite side. She made it into the yard next to their house which was opposite from the Detail house side.
Young Allison saw them approach from both sides. Two of the Terminators were waiting for her.
"What are you doing?" One of them asked.
Young Allison wanted to see what they knew. She was unsure of who knew of her 'away mission'.
"I went for a walk." Young Allison said. "Didn't you see me?"
The Terminators were a little concerned about her unconventional approach to the house.
"We saw you come through the neighbors' yards." The other said. "It seemed highly unusual."
Young Allison looked at the two Terminators for a moment.
"I was looking for a small kitten." Young Allison said. "I saw it when I was out for my walk. I could tell it was lost. He didn't know which direction to go. I tried to pick it up, but it ran off when I got near it. I don't know where it ended up at. I hope a dog didn't catch it."
Young Allison quickly turned away from them before anything else could be said. She entered the house. It seemed no one was the wiser.
Her mother came out of the kitchen.
"Where were you?" Claire asked. "I was looking for you."
Young Allison didn't want to lie, but she wasn't about to volunteer any information. She would try a limited approach of truthfulness.
"I was outside. I wanted some fresh air and sunshine." Young Allison said. "Did something happen?"
Claire was pleased to see Young Allison was out of the bunker for change. She thought she spent way too much time down there.
"No. I wanted to see what you wanted for dinner." Claire said.
Young Allison was glad there was no reprimand.
"Surprise me." Young Allison said.
She looked around for Anna but didn't see her. She did see someone else though. It was Summer. Summer looked at her for a long moment, but didn't say anything. She was pretty sure Summer knew the truth. There was no way to slip anything past her. She would need to deal with it later.
Young Allison decided to communicate with CamNet. It appeared CamNet helped cover for her and didn't expose what she did.
'Thank You.' Young Allison typed. 'I'm sorry.'
'I am too.' CamNet responded.
Young Allison returned her gear and the survival pack.
'Where's Anna?' Young Allison asked.
'She went shopping.' CamNet responded.
Previously:
Anna observed Young Allison leave earlier. She took one of the vehicles and followed Young Allison. She always stayed out of sight. She kept track of her. She was ready to assist her if she was accosted by a hostile Terminator or future Scavengers, the low lifes.
Young Allison heard the door open and went to see who it was. It was Anna and she carried a bag.
"Hello." Young Allison said and she smiled at her.
Anna wanted to see if she was made. She didn't think so.
"Did you miss me?" Anna asked.
Young Allison tried to see what Anna knew.
"I didn't know you'd left." Young Allison said
Anna decided to play it cool. It was her goal not to be detected.
"I didn't want to disturb you." Anna said.
Anna smiled. She followed Young Allison every step of the way. She didn't tell Young Allison she followed her. She was pleased she hadn't been spotted. She would need to work on improving Young Allison's skills in spotting a Terminator tracking her.
Young Allison was none the wiser.
Anna wanted Young Allison to feel like she accomplished something. She would use Hanna and Holly and have Young Allison try to do a Terminator avoidance test. She wanted Young Allison to be able to elude any tail, even her. If she could evade her, it would be the same as evading Cameron. It would be a major accomplishment.
She did know she held an advantage because she observed what Young Allison was about to do. If Young Allison would have made it away undetected, she would have been very hard to track down.
She would never allow anything else 'bad' to happen to Young Allison. She couldn't let anything happen to her. One mistake seemed to have been costly. It seemed to affect a lot of people and machines. It showed how quickly things could get out of control and expand fast. One event led to another. It is how mistakes were made. It is how disasters occurred.
John and Future Riley was another example. From out of nowhere someone appears and problems soon follow. It didn't matter if they were orchestrated or not.
Closing monologue by Cameron:
No You Wouldn't Have
As each morning starts
Do you feel the same
Are you ready to play
In life's cruel game
Do you dodge the punches
As they are directed at you
Or take the blows
While the bruises accrue
Is there ever a break
To give you a rest
Or is everyday
Yet some new type of test
No matter what we do
Does anything ever really change
Everything repeats itself
Does it strike you as strange
When it falls apart you say
You would do it different then
No you wouldn't have
You'd do it the same again
Nobody
