AN: This fic was bright to you by my friend Kate's fanart of a farm AU with Korra, Asami, and the krew Korra in a overall has my soul in a death grip *wheezes in simp noises* (go check out my ao3 fic to see the fanart it's based off of).
Asami was a simple creature.
She enjoyed good food, good weather, and a nice view.
Currently, she had that all. It was a pleasantly cool day, she was enjoying a nice cup of cold lemonade and finger sandwiches given to her by the villagers but, the best of it all was the view. The view of an attractive farm woman wearing a cute brown overall, working hard in the field, sweating beneath that sunny, bright blue sky with her muscles tightening with every swing of her hoe ax.
Her father had been the one who suggested she take over this agricultural project actually. It was a project that their company intended to carry out and little did Asami imagine this was just what she needed to break out of her creative stump. It was shocking how her life changed compared to when she was still working in that tall office building in Republic City. Nothing would ever come to mind but here, ideas for improvement practically sparked every day when she talked to the villagers about their thoughts.
Agriculture had been a foreign territory for her. She had been somewhat overwhelmed initially, but the villagers were more than happy to share their ways and knowledge. Needless to say, she didn't regret coming to the countryside at all. She had been hesitant at the start but after meeting all the sweet and hard-working people here, she grew to love the community and the dirt and dust that came with it. It was so different from the workshops in their family's factories.
"Is everything alright Miss Asami?" Tuan, one of the village's boys asked with a bright smile that lacked a front tooth.
Asami turned his way before smiling and raising her glass. "Another glass of your mom's perfect lemonade would be nice if you don't mind."
The boy just gave her a toothy grin. "It's the best one in the village!" He proudly boasted while pumping out his chest.
His cute gesture made Asami chuckle. "It is." She then glanced toward the field where her crush was tending to the field. "Can I trade you a mechanical slinky for two cups of lemonade?" She paused before adding, "For Korra and me." She explained as she pulled out a toy that she had hidden in the pocket of her red denim shirt.
Tuan playfully looked left and right as if he was doing something fishy before quietly accepting the toy. "Say no more my fair lady," he bowed with his straw hat before putting it back on and tilting the front part up with his index finger. "I'll be back in a jiffy!"
Asami giggled at his playfulness. "Thank you, Tuan!"
He gave her a big wave and disappeared in seconds. As he did his thing, Asami went back to enjoying the view. She took in those wonderful curves and details the best she could. Heck, she wished she had her sketchbook to sketch a physical copy of this sight for her private records. Even a camera would be perfect despite the fuzzy quality but alas, that would be too good to be true so she opted to watch the free show.
Never had Asami had such admiration for a woman before. Coming from such a background as herself, she had high expectations of them, such as her mother and a handful of others, so needless to say, meeting a woman of such… caliber in the countryside wasn't something Asami would have guessed.
There were so many admirable features and traits Korra had: such as her bright and positive personality. And, not to mention her knowledge about agriculture: such as how the weather and growing environment affected them, and especially her passion for her job. Not to mention the healthy lifestyle she lived and how clearly she took care of herself.
There was no denying that she was attractive.
Korra would make anyone's heart flutter just with her contagious smile alone. Asami could spend hours watching her work and getting this opportunity to work with her was a true blessing. She wasn't sure how long it took for Tuan to get the lemonade but he was practically back in a flash and once he handed off the drinks to Asami, he disappeared just like he came. With that said, Asami took a breath before working up the courage to make her way over. She took one step at a time and the closer she got, the brighter Korra looked beneath the sunshine.
The rays of light were doing justice.
If Asami could pay mother nature for its beautiful lighting job, she would do it tenfold. It didn't take long for Korra to notice her presence and the second she did, she gave that charming lopsided grin of hers and Asami froze on the spot. She could have sworn that the sun was starting to burn her skin because hell, her cheeks were warmer than they had been two seconds ago.
"Oh! Hey Asami, you visiting the field again?" Korra exclaimed before waving at Asami.
Asami blinked before closing her mouth. She swallowed before licking her dry lips and shooting her a smile. "Yes, you can say that." She then raised the glasses in her hand. "Care for some lemonade?"
Korra let out a sexy groan before grabbing the collar of her shirt and fanning herself. "That sounds amazing." She made her way closer and Asami didn't miss the sweat dripping down her neck and chest.
When Asami somehow successfully handed Korra her glass without spilling a drop, they clinked glasses before taking a sip. Asami took a modest, small sip while Korra drank about half the glass. As she did so, Asami shamelessly checked her out until Korra made eye contact with her again. She looked away before striking up a conversation.
"Good weather today huh?"
"Huh?" Korra smiled at her warmly before chuckling. "Yeah, the best. Not too hot but still warm enough for these fellas." She pointed her thumb back at the trees behind her, "Maybe except for this young missy though." She then pointed at the area she was picking with her hoe axe. "I gotta relocate her to the nursery. She's a little sick you see."
The way her blue eyes shimmered with affection and worry made Asami weak at her knees. "What's wrong with her?"
Asami didn't think Korra's eyes could get any brighter but they did.
"Oh! That's easy. Well, it turns out she got hit with a small parasite but fortunately, I caught it before it was too late. From there, it's a fairly easy solution and I just got to…" She continued gushing about who knew what and by the time she finished speaking, Asami blinked.
"That sounds… rough."
"It's worth it once she bears fruit." Korra then pointed to her left. "Come on, I'll show you."
Normally, Asami would have questioned what she was up to but after knowing Korra for a few months now, she knew better than to ask since Korra loved surprising her. She wasn't one to spoil much but that was oddly okay, exciting even, since she never disappointed her expectations. The two of them made their way to the side and in no time, they were standing in front of Korra's tracker.
Korra quickly downed the rest of her lemonade and set the glass aside in the little storage spot on her tractor before hopping on. She then held her hand out for Asami to grab a hold of. "Come on, it's a short drive away."
Another instance of Korra's unnecessary yet welcomed gestures. Asami didn't need a man to climb surfaces but this woman? She could have access to her bank account or even scandalous feet photos for all she cared.
"Thank you, Korra."
Asami gave her a warm yet somewhat seductive smile before grabbing a hold of her hand. Korra effortlessly whisked her up onto the tractor and once she was settled, they were on their way to another part of Korra's farm. Her family owned most of the land around this town but it was safe to save that they were well respected. Quite humble even and their family was loved by the other villagers.
It wasn't a surprise.
Tonraq and Senna had to be the sweetest people around and Asami could tell they were a loving family. They helped out the lesser landowners when needed and lots of resources needed for farming were shared amongst them without charge. It was a surprise how well this community worked and flowed honestly.
Korra parked off to the side before hopping off the tractor. Once she was on her feet, she raised her hand for Asami to get off and once they were both planted on the dust soil, they began making their way down the path. Sure enough, Korra playfully ran her hand through the fruit tree's leaves before stopping abruptly. She then pivoted on the balls of her feet before starting in a voice fit for a queen.
"You haven't been here yet per se but I officially welcome you to Moon Pie Grove! It's our town's specialty-grown peach, the best one in the world to be honest, the Moon Pie~" Korra causally boasted in a cool and composed tone. She then reached up to pick one from the tree before whipping it clean on her overalls and handing over the peach to Asami. "They're the best when freshly picked." She winked for whatever reason Asami's flustered self didn't know why before picking another fruit off the tree and eating it herself.
Without whipping it off course which made Asami think that Korra did that especially for her. However, the moment Korra bit into her peach, Asami heard that satisfying crunch before watching some juice drop down her jaw. Her throat went dry before she quickly took a bite of her peach as well when Korra looked up at her as if she was trying to catch her reaction. She surprised herself with the crunch and burst of sweet juice that practically squirted into her mouth the second she bit down.
Asami must have let out a squeak of some sort because Korra chuckled at her before wiping away the trail of juice on her jaw, looking sexy as hell for whatever reason. She then grinned at her brightly before asking in a smug voice.
"Pretty good huh?"
Geez, Asami swore she was getting work out from smiling so much around her. "The best I've had honestly."
Lord have mercy on her.
Could Korra get any more attractive? All she did was praise her family's peaches but the pure joy on Korra's face was worth more than a million yuan could buy.
"I told ya so!"
Asami needed to stop smiling. Her jaw was seriously getting sore. "Gosh, I'm sure these taste amazing in desserts or even drinks."
Korra groaned at that. "Ugh, you bet, its chilled juice is to die for and this is my underrated opinion but it's amazing as a pie."
Oh. Oh… What Asami would do for Korra's pie. "That sounds amazing…" That's when a silly thought hit her. "Wait, would that mean that it would be called a moon pie pie?"
Korra just shrugged. "Technically yes."
"Ah, that's… fun."
She laughed at that with that contagious laugh of hers. "We usually call it moon pie squared or just a moonie."
"A… moonie?"
"Yah know, the words moon and pie mashed up."
Asami wanted to smack her own face. Duh, how obvious! Why didn't she think of that? It was brilliant. "That's a pretty good name."
"Right? I was the one who came up with it."
"Really now?"
"Mm hmmm, you bet. Otherwise, it would have been Pie of the Moon Pie."
"Hm…"
"Yup," Korra then cleared her throat. "Anyways, while we're here, why don't I show you around the fields while we're here? There's a super scenic spot a line further down the path. All I have to say about it is humbly the best spot in this entire village."
Who was Asami to say no to her?
"That would be wonderful."
Korra flashed her a lopsided grin again. "What are we waiting for then? Back to the tractor!"
Asami shook her head at her eagerness before going along with the flow. "Back to the tractor."
