Rolf vs Austin
After Jonny's victory over Tony, he exits the field and rejoins his friends.
"Way to go, Jonny Boy!" said Kevin.
"You, totally, rocked!" said Nazz.
"Rolf is pleased that Jonny the Wood Boy is the winner." said Rolf.
"Thanks, everybody." said Jonny. He then feels someone tap on his shoulder; he turns to see Tony with a look of regret on his face.
"Hi." said Tony.
"What do you want?" asked Kevin as he stands between Jonny and Tony.
"I wanted to say 'good match' to him." said Tony.
"I guess that's okay." said Kevin as he steps aside.
"It was a good match, wasn't it?" said Jonny.
"I won't forget it." said Tony. "And also... I want to apologize for making fun of you."
"You do?" asked Nazz.
"Yes." said Tony. "I have no right to make fun of someone because they do something that no one else really does."
"That's okay." said Jonny. He holds out his hand and the two shake; after that, Tony just walks away.
"He wasn't so bad after all." said Nazz.
"Well, the Eds' rivals have changed after they lost." said Kevin.
"Attention; may Rolf and Austin please make their way to the town battlefield for their match?" a woman's voice says over the PA system.
"Rolf must get to the village field at once." said Rolf.
"Do your best, Rolf!" said Nazz.
"We'll be cheering for you, man." said Kevin.
"Me and Plank will also." said Jonny.
"Rolf thanks you all." said Rolf before running off.
Later in the town field stadium, Kevin, Jonny, and Nazz were making their way to their seats to watch Rolf's match and support him.
"Do you think Rolf will do okay?" asked Nazz.
"Rolf has spent a month preparing for today." said Kevin.
"Plank says he'll do just fine." said Jonny.
On the town field, Rolf and Tony were staring each other down from opposite ends of it.
"And we're here for the second quarterfinal match of the day on the town field." said the announcer. "Who will move on to the semifinals? Let's find out."
"You ready to lose, bumpkin?" asked Tony.
"In the name of Rolf's ancestors, Rolf will defeat you!" said Rolf.
"This quarterfinal match will be between Rolf and Austin." said the official. "Each trainer will use three Pokemon. The battle will end when one trainer's Pokemon are unable to battle. The trainer who still has Pokemon remaining will be the winner. Let the battle begin." The official walks off the battlefield while Rolf and Tony each pull out a pokeball.
"Grumpig, let's do this!" shouts Austin as he tosses his pokeball, releasing a bipedal, purple and gray, piglike Pokemon that had two black pearls going down its head, along with one on its belly.
"What is that?" asked Kevin as he takes out the pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Grumpig, the Manipulate Pokemon, and the evolved form of Spoink. It uses black pearls to amplify its psychic power. It does an odd dance to gain control over foes." said the pokedex.
"And Austin's first Pokemon is a Grumpig." said the announcer. "What Pokemon will Rolf use?"
"A fine-looking swine you have." said Rolf.
"Thanks, I guess." said Austin.
"But Rolf shall defeat it!" said Rolf before he throws his pokeball and releases his Beedrill.
"And Rolf is using a Beedrill." said the announcer. "Both Pokemon have advantages, but who will be the winner?"
"Beedrill, use Pin Missile!" said Rolf. Beedrill launches glowing green needles from her stinger, and they hit Grumpig repeatedly, doing super effective damage.
"Grumpig, use Power Gem!" said Austin. Grumpig's pearls glow before beams of light come out of them and hit Beedrill, doing super effective damage.
"Beedrill, use Assurance!" said Rolf. Beedrill flies at Grumpig and does a dual jab with her arm stingers, dealing super effective damage and more thanks to Assurance's power doubling if the Pokemon that used it took damage before using it.
"Nice one, dude." said Kevin.
"You're a lot smarter than I thought for a bumpkin." said Austin. "Grumpig, use Psychic!" Grumpig's eyes glow blue before a similar-colored aura covers Beedrill and lifts her up into the air; she is then sent crashing back to the ground. As Beedrill gets up, a yellowish-green aura rises up out of her.
"That's Beedrill's Swarm ability." said Jonny.
"Now's your chance to take that pig out... and Grumpig, too." said Nazz. Austin glares at her, getting harsher glares right back by Nazz along with Kevin and Jonny.
"Beedrill, use Fell Stinger!" said Rolf. Beedrill flies at Grumpig and does a very fast jab with her rear stinger into Grumpig's chest, dealing super effective damage, and knocking it out.
"Grumpig is unable to battle. Beedrill is the winner." said the official.
"Beedrill is the victor!" said Rolf.
"Rolf's Beedrill has taken out Austin's Grumpig!" said the announcer. Just then, a surge of energy comes out of Beedrill.
"Looks like Beedrill got the power boost from Fell Stinger knocking out Grumpig." said Kevin.
"Hope it helps take out Austin's next Pokemon." said Nazz.
Back on the field, Austin returns his Grumpig to its pokeball.
"Austin is down to two Pokemon. What will he use next?" asked the announcer. He gets his answer when Austin takes out another pokeball and throws it, releasing his Heatmor. "And Austin's next Pokemon is a Heatmor. Will it be able to beat Rolf's Beedrill?"
"Beedrill, use Fury Attack!" said Rolf. Beedrill flies at Heatmor and jabs it multiple times with her rear stinger.
"Heatmor, use Inferno!" said Austin. Heatmor releases a spiral of blue and purple fire from its mouth which engulfs Beedrill, and does enough super effective damage to knock her out.
"Beedrill is unable to battle. Heatmor is the winner." said the official.
"And Austin's Heatmor has taken out Rolf's Beedrill." said the announcer. "Now both trainers are down to two Pokemon."
"Looks like your bug is burned." said Austin. Rolf returns his Beedrill to its pokeball.
"Rolf is proud of Beedrill." said Rolf. He puts Beedrill's pokeball away and pulls out another one; he throws it, releasing his Diggersby.
"And Rolf's next Pokemon is a Diggersby. Can it take the heat from Heatmor?" asked the announcer.
"It will, dude!" said Nazz.
"Diggersby, use Mud Shot!" said Rolf. Diggersby releases a large glob of mud at Heatmor, hitting it, and dealing super effective damage; some of the mud clings to Heatmor's feet, making them stick to the arena floor, reducing its speed.
"Heatmor, use Fire Spin!" said Austin. Heatmor releases a blast of fire from its mouth that hits Diggersby and spirals around him.
"DIggersby, use Dig!" said Rolf. Diggersby digs underground to escape the fiery vortex.
"Clever." said Austin. "Heatmor, use Stockpile!" Heatmor starts gathering energy into his body, making it bulk up and strengthening its defense. Just then, Diggersby pops up out of the arena floor and rams into Heatmor's torso; but thanks to the defense increase from Stockpile, it doesn't do as much super effective damage as it normally would've. "Heatmor, use Swallow!" Heatmor swallows the energy it collected and some of its wounds heal.
"Better take that Heatmor out before it does that again!" said Kevin.
"Diggersby, use Earthquake!" said Rolf. Diggersby slams his fist ears into the arena floor, causing a massive shockwave that hits Heatmor, doing super effective damage.
"Heatmor, use Flame Burst!" said Austin. Heatmor releases a stream of fire from its mouth that forms into a ball; it then releases smaller streams of fire that hit Diggersby.
"Diggersby, use Double Kick!" said Rolf. Diggersby leaps at the Heatmor and delivers two strong kicks to it, knocking it backwards to the arena floor where it stops at Austin's feet, unconscious.
"Heatmor is unable to battle. Diggersby is the winner." said the official.
"And Rolf's Diggersby has beaten Austin's Heatmor!" said the official. "Now Austin is down to his last Pokemon."
"You're almost there, dude!" said Nazz.
"Just one more to go, Rolf!" said Jonny. Austin returns his Heatmor to its pokeball.
"What do you think Austin's last Pokemon is?" asked Nazz.
"Whatever it is, Rolf will beat it!" said Kevin. Austin puts his Heatmor's pokeball away and pulls out his last one; he throws it, releasing a large, purple, bipedal Pokemon with a long horn sticking out of its forehead.
"Whoa!" said Jonny before he points the pokedex at Austin's Pokemon.
"Nidoking, the Drill Pokemon, and the final form of a male Nidoran. One swing of its mighty tail can snap a telephone pole as if it were a matchstick." said the pokedex.
"What a mighty beast." said Rolf.
"Thanks." said Austin. "Nidoking, use Double Kick!" Nidoking lunges at Diggersby and lands two strong kicks to him, dealing super effective damage.
"Better hurry and take it down, dude!" said Nazz.
"Diggersby, use Earthquake again!" said Rolf. Diggersby makes another strong shockwave that hits Nidoking, dealing super effective damage.
"Nidoking, finish it with Horn Drill!" said Austin. Nidoking spirals towards Diggersby and rams his horn into his torso; he falls to the ground after that, unconscious.
"Diggersby is unable to battle. Nidoking is the winner." said the official.
"Nice work, Nidoking." said Austin. Nidoking lets out a triumphant roar.
"And Nidoking has defeated Rolf's Diggersby." said the announcer. "Now Rolf is down to his last Pokemon. What will he use?"
"Dudes, that Nidoking is tough." said Nazz.
"Rolf can still win this!" said Jonny.
"We gotta believe in him!" said Kevin before he and the others start cheering Rolf on.
Back on the field, Rolf returns his Diggersby to his pokeball.
"Rolf is proud of Diggersby." said Rolf. He puts Diggersby's pokeball away and pulls out his last one; he throws it, releasing his Blastoise.
"And Rolf's last Pokemon is a Blastoise." said the announcer. "Will it be able to withstand Austin's Nidoking's power?"
"Let's see who's Pokemon is stronger." said Austin. A look of determination appears on Rolf's face as he holds out his wrist that had his Mega Ring on it; he then pushes the stone on it, making energy flare up from Rolf and Blastoise before streams of energy come from them and link up; a few seconds later, Blastoise Mega Evolves into Mega Blastoise.
"And Rolf's Blastoise has Mega Evolved!" said the announcer while the audience cheers loudly.
"Okay, I did not anticipate this!" said Austin.
"Mega Blastoise, use Surf!" said Rolf. Mega Blastoise points his wrist cannons at the arena floor and releases a large blast of water from them that form into a giant wave that he hops onto; the wave then crashes onto Nidoking, dealing super effective damage.
"Nidoking, use Thrash!" said Austin. Nidoking leaps at Blastoise and wildly strikes him as hard as he could with punches and kicks; thankfully for Mega Blastoise he had a powerful defense.
"Rolf will end this." said Rolf. "Mega Blastoise, use Hydro Pump!" Mega Blastoise points his main shell cannon at Nidoking and releases a powerful stream of water that collides with him, dealing super effective damage, and sends him flying past Austin and into a wall where it passes out.
"Nidoking is unable to battle. Mega Blastoise is the winner. The winner of the match is Rolf." said the official.
"Rolf has done it! His Mega Blastoise has beaten Austin's Nidoking, winning him the match and a spot in the semifinals!" said the announcer.
"Way to go, Rolf!" said Kevin.
"Right on!" said Jonny.
"That was super awesome!" said Nazz.
"Rolf is the winner!" cheered Rolf. Mega Blastoise returns to his normal self as Rolf runs over and hugs him. Meanwhile, Austin returns his Nidoking to his pokeball.
"You did great, Nidoking." said Austin. He then puts the pokeball away and walks over to Rolf who was watching him approach. When Austin reaches him, he looks away with shame as he holds out a hand; Rolf knew what he wanted and the two shake.
"You are a strong trainer." said Rolf. "This was a battle Rolf will pass down in his family for generations."
"You're too kind to me; especially after the things I said." said Austin with regret. "It doesn't matter what a person's lifestyle is like when it comes to being a Pokemon trainer; I know that now, and I promise I will take others seriously no matter what they're like."
"Rolf is pleased to hear that." said Rolf.
Rolf has defeated Austin and has moved on to the semifinals. Who will advance next? Wait and find out.
