I really like music. Like...REALLY like music. I can get lost in the most annoying song, like "Somebody that I used to know" or "Rude". It might be a 'tism thing, but it's something I just hyper-focus on. I wish I could start a band one day...

"You're kidding right?" Mikey said as we worked on our math project. It was now first period, honestly the worst period considering how much of a bitch the teacher is, and I was explaining the incident from earlier.

"Nope. 8 new kids in one day." I said, smiling a bit. "Its nuts but somehow, none of them see me as a loser." I added, finishing up my half while Mikey still worked on his.

"Must be something in the water." the dark skinned boy muttered, earning a kick to the shin.

While we were on the bus, Ruby and I had compared schedules. We had 2nd and 3rd period together, which meant we had the same lunch period. This made me happy because 2nd and 3rd were the periods I got harassed the most in. According to Ruby, Yang was also in 3rd so I knew I would be safe. Safe...Never thought I'd actually feel that again... I thought to myself as Mikey finished up. The bell rang but the math teacher, Mrs. Paccacio, was the 'the bell doesn't dismiss you, I do' type of teacher, so we waited till she finally sent us out for 2nd period. Second period for me, Ruby, Jaune, Nora, Ren, and Pyrrha was PE. I dreaded this class, mainly because all we did was play dodgeball or flag football. The coach hardly paid attention to us, so I was always the target. I usually woke up in the infirmary afterwards with a black eye and various bruises on my chest. I took a glance at Thomas, who smirked up at me, definitely eager to turn me into a target practice dummy, and sighed. Probably going to end that way today. Though it'll be my 30th time there so that means free ice-cream-

"Hey, you okay?" a certain silver-eyed girl asked, tugging at my sleeve and breaking me from my thoughts.

I nodded, lying to keep her from worrying as I rubbed my shoulder nervously. "I'm good. Just lost in thought."

Definitely not convinced, Ruby whispered something to Jaune, who passed the information down to the other three. All of them nodded before giving me a reassuring smile. I was lost, but I assumed this meant something good as the coach did roll call. I noticed a dirty blonde haired girl glance over at me while the coach listed off names. It was a simple move but something about the way she looked at me sent my heart beating a few tics faster. In that one simple glance, I managed to catch every detail of her face, from her sparkling blue eyes, to the various freckles that dotted her cheeks, and then down to her rounded lips, which shined a bit as if she just recently applied a clear colored lip gloss. I felt my heart race more as she gave me a friendly smile, causing my cheeks to heat up heavily as I returned said smile. Of course Ruby, little imp that she is, noticed this exchange and gave me a teasing punch to the shoulder, breaking my trance and causing my blush to go deeper.

"Ouuu-"

"I will steal your Oreos." I grumbled, shooting the red-head a glare, which made her smirk more as the coach called to split into teams for dodge ball.

Of course, the majority who actually wanted to play stood up and began to group around Thomas, leaving me and the new students to fend for ourselves, a rough 24 v 6. I don't like these odds...but they are better than usual, considering-

A red ball the size of my head came flying at mach 30 directly for me, causing my thoughts to be interrupted as I braced for impact...however the impact never came. Instead a certain black-haired boy had caught the projectile, causing a loud rubbery twang! to echo throughout the gym.

"Holy shit..." one of Thomas' teammates muttered while Ren allowed a small smile to appear.

"I don't believe anyone said 'start'." He said cooly, spinning the ball on his finger. "But I guess I will." he launched the ball towards Thomas, the projectile impacting the brunette's chest and sending him toppling to the floor in a heap. "Lets start"

Oh god it was a slaughter.

Out of the 24 that stood against us, none were left standing. Nora and Ren stacked up the highest knockouts while the rest of us played defensively...well Jaune and Pyrrha played defensively while Ruby made sure no ball came my way, much to my chagrin. Coulda let me at least grab one, goddammit.

All in all, this was the first time I had fun in a while. I haven't felt this way since...well its been a long time.

"And then, I launched the ball into his-!" Nora was retelling the story before Ren interrupted her.

"Nora! Not while we're eating." He scolded, Yang and Nora giggling at each other knowingly before scarfing down their lunch.

"Coulda let me get a few." I half grumbled, faking a frown at Ruby who smirked.

"Gotta be faster than that!" Ruby declared, nibbling on her Oreo.

The one thing I cannot get off my mind is how the hell do they all know each other? I thought to myself. Its one thing if they were adopted but as far as I know, thats not the case-

"Hey Luke, if I ask Ruby and I's uncle, would you like to hang out after school?" Yang said, interrupting my thoughts.

"Uh, I um-" "Yes he would love to!" Stasia, seeming to apparate behind me from nowhere, said, whispering into my ear "You're welcome" before skipping off to join her friends. Stasia was my wing woman, and a damn good one at that. She probably got the wrong idea with this group, as i still had eyes for a certain blonde from pe, but she still is a good friend to have.

Ruby's smile lit up the cafeteria as she rambled on about all the fun things we could do. I couldn't help but smile back, her energy was too contagious.
