"So what do you think?" I asked, not bothering to look up from my workbench at the digitized Avatar, Dragon was so fond of using.
"I'm truly impressed. First night out and she's got herself a functional AND effective suit. That's a rare sight to see" Dragon replied.
"Mm. My thoughts exactly, the girl shows extreme promise. If we don't get to her before the gangs do then we'll not only be down an asset, but likely facing a formidable threat in the future." I said while laying my halberd along the bench and moving to rifle through my tools in the drawers of the bench.
"Are you so pessimistic that you believe her to be willing to turn to villainy Colin?"
"It has nothing to do with her willingness, and everything to do with the human psyche Dragon." I replied, firmly but not unking. "You and I know the stats, independent tinkers either end up dead, wards, or on the wrong side of the line."
"Perhaps, but she doesn't have to be alone. The other tinker she was with cou—"
"The one who got saved after being caught completely unaware and disadvantaged with little in the way of any obvious tinker tech?" I snorted. "No, even if he could be of any aid to her, that would just make the two of them an even bigger prize for any prospective gangs."
"You're all heart Colin."
"I'm a realist Dragon, I'll save the idealism for you." I muttered, focusing as I brought a pair of pliers closer and closer to a loose connector on my halberd.
"You know, if you were more considerate towards the boy you might've had a better chance convincing the girl to join up. Reviewing the footage you can easily see her body tense when your focus remained on her, over…what was it, KidWin?"
"KidWin is right, a name that he'll regret if he makes it anywhere near adulthood" I chuckled drily to myself.
"Colin!" Dragon truly sounded aghast now and I did feel a modicum of shame. That was deeply inappropriate.
"You're right," I sighed. "I'm sorry. Perhaps I shouldn't have dismissed him so easily, perhaps it isn't my place to judge the worth of others as prospective heroes, I'll try to be more…considerate…in the future."
"That's all I could ask for Colin, and I'll be there to remind you of that when you inevitably piss someone else off."
"Where would I be without you, Dragon?"
"I shudder at the thought."

Did anyone see what happened in the trainyard, I wasn't too far from there and heard quite the commotion and saw PRT response vehicles heading there pretty fast too.

I heard from a friend that Lung decided to challenge Nilbog to a fight and those sounds were Lung facing off against an endless wave of his creatures!

I can't say too much, but I can tell you that there was an incident involving two new independent tinkers and Squealer from the merchants. By the end of the incident Squealer was in PRT custody.

XxVoid_CowboyxX Do you not live in brockton bay, the city with villains who can grow into dragons, metal wolves, literal giant viking girls, and heroes like dauntless who's just going to keep growing stronger and Vista who can control the literal fabric of space? Not to mention the cape family with several laser like themed powers

So, we know there are two either new capes, or newly moved capes in the Bay. We also know that they apparently took Squealer down...which isn't that impressive since she was probs high.
What else do we got?

Thanks, Bagrat! The cape that saved me has a name, but it's not exactly my place to announce it for them.
As for what happened…
I was going out looking for scrap (tinker things) When i got ambushed by Squealer who was tipped off about a tinker (me) periodically going through the trainyard looking to scavenge. Next thing I know I'm blasted halfway across the yard and I'm being saved by a total badass.
I'm pretty new to all this, but that other cape...she was totally calm and collected!

Logging off of PHO with a heavy sigh I left my desktop and flopped back into my bed. Of all of the ways I could have made my debut, last night was not what I was hoping for at all. Not only was I far from having anything tinker tech related that was impressive to show off as mine, I hadn't even managed to be of any help when I got saved from Squealer. Squealer! Of all the villains it had to be her, a drug addled maniac.
getting your ass handed to you was never good, getting it handed to you by Squealer was worse. If I wasn't saved when I was, I probably would be high as a kite and referring to Squealer as mommy Squealer by now.
Then, when I was about to say screw it, clearly this close call was a sign that I should join the wards. I had to listen to that damned tinker once again put me to shame, talking about how she could do more on her own without the wards. No way was I signing up after that, I'd look even worse than I already did at that point. Not to mention it was painfully obvious Armsmaster wasn't even interested in recruiting me, I was like...what was I like.
A complimentary soap given out by hotels?
Nobody ever went to a hotel for the free soaps, but they wouldn't turn them down either. that was me, not wanted but not terrible enough to turn down.
I let out another sigh as I wondered how I'd even begin trying to own up to what I had agreed to and get away with any resources from a gang, let alone enough to actually build something useful. I couldn't even face off against the Merchants.
Just as I was thinking about trying to call the PRT and see if I could still join the wards I heard my computer Chime.
Getting up to check it out I lumbered over to my desktop and sat down to look at the screen.
Weird. A PM , nobody had tried to message me before, might as well see what's up I guess.
As I opened it up and began reading a smile began to spread across my face, maybe I wasn't as unwanted as I thought.
Let me know what you think. Please. I'm desperate to know what people think, what I'm doing good, and what needs work.
