Chapter 5

A complicated story

Nikki's pov

I pulled out of the kiss (sadly) and looked to see who it was. It was… André?!

''What are you doing here André?!''

''I was walking until I saw you kissing!"

''So what!?'' says Brandon, very annoyed.

''Well, Nikki is mine. Get away..'' says André

''What are you talking about?! Who did she kiss, who?''

''Stop guys! I am no one's!" I say, panicked.

Then Brandon gets closer to Andre and slaps him. I could hear that slap..

''Don't fight!''

Andre grabs Brandon's hair and pulls it.

''Guys stop!''

I don't know how to stop this! They are fighting! Wait.. they are fighting over me! I should say I don't want any of them so they realise it's worthless! Even though I want Brandon..

''I don't want any of you! Stop! It's worthless.''

''Wait what..'' says Andre, looking at me in confusion.

I storm off and leave them there. I immediately message Brandon a mysterious message.

'That kiss did mean something..'

He sees it quick and responds:

'I knew it.'

'But please don't fight over me with Andre. Just leave him be. You know I only like you.'

He leaves me on seen.. What is that supposed to mean?!

Mackenzie's pov

I have to come up with a plan to have Brandon to like me. I don't think he likes Nikki at all. She's just a nerd while I am beautiful, smart AND popular. Everything is great about me, but about Nikki it's the opposite. We will see tomorrow.

The next day.

Nikki's pov

I am not excited for this day of school because I have to see Andre after the fight and make my relationship with Brandon public! I am not scared about the second one, just nervous. I hope Mackenzie doesn't plan something terrible again. I got detention because of her and also got grounded for something I didn't do! I will really kill her this time if she does something like that again. I make my backpack, brush my teeth, get dressed and leave. Brianna was in the kitchen drawing. Their teacher is sick and they get to stay home! So lucky! If one of the teachers is sick we just skip one class!

At school

I enter the school feeling that all eyes were on me. But they weren't. I didn't even make it public yet and I already felt like that.. I see Brandon walking in the hallway. He seems like he's telling something to his friends. They all look at me and laugh. What are the laughing about?! Are they laughing about me? Did he make the relationship public already? I went to my class and all I could think about was that.

After I finished the class, I went to Brandon and asked him:

''Why were your friends laughing about me?''

''What? They weren't!'' says Brandon, unsure.

Brandon's pov

I can't tell her my friends made fun of her. They would make her feel insecure and sad. I have to lie for good.

''You know I know you too well and I know when you are lying right? Just for your information, I don't care about what they said or anything else bad they say about me.'' Says Nikki, serious.

''You don't?"

''Ha! I caught you! You are asking because you lied.''

''I was just trying to protect you.. I don't want to hurt you..''

''That's nice of you but please, Tell me the truth even if it might hurt me. It's better to know than to not know.''

''Noted! Want to get lunch together?'' I say, trying to change the topic.

''It's the first break and you're already hungry?'' says Nikki, laughing.

''Yess! I didn't eat anything in the morning!''

''Okay then. Let's get you lunch!''

We both run to the canteen because there were only 10 minutes left of the break. We start laughing because we got so tired after such a short run!

Mackenzie's pov

As I get my gloss from my backpack I see Nikki and Brandon passing me.. HOLDING HANDS?! They were laughing. I run to ask them what's happening.

''Oh you didn't know, I thought the whole school knew!'' says Nikki, smiling wide.

''Know what?'' I ask curious.

''Me and Nikki are together Mackenzie.'' Says Brandon.

''What?! Why..''

''What do you mean why?" asks Nikki, suspicious.

''Nothing. Congrats.'' I say.

I can't believe they're together! What does Nikki have and I don't?! I storm off and they look at me in confusion. I don't want to see Nikki anymore, but if I do, she will suffer.

Nikki's pov

''Did you see how she stormed off?''

''I did. But we have to understand her too. She was in love with me. Of course she got upset.''

''I guess you're right.''

We get back to class and we see Mackenzie talking to Jessica. They were gossiping about us for sure. I don't care though. They can gossip all they want, they won't win anything.

After school

Me and Zoey walk home and she asks me about my relationship with Brandon

''Soo, what's between you and Brandon? I heard the rumours so split the tea!''

'''Basically he asked me out on a date and we got together that night.''

''I want all the details!''

After I tell her the story

''That's something. I think you should try to work things out with Andre.''

''You think so? I think Brandon will get upset.''

''You have to try!"

''I will. But Monday because now it's Friday.''

''Right. Well, this is my stop. See you on Monday!"

''Byee Zoey!''

I continue walking and thinking about what she said. I don't know what to do really. I will think of a solution until Monday.

When I got home the dinner was already ready.

''What do we have for dinner?''

''Chicken and vegetables.'' Says mum.

''Yum!''

I take a seat at the table but right when I do that Brianna accidentally puts her elbow on the plate and it slips on my clothes!

''What did you do! Now I have to change!"

''Haha! You look so silly!" says Brianna.

''Mum! Do something!''

''Oh forgive her sweetie! I am sure she didn't mean it.''

Right that second I look at Brianna and she laughs in my face. What a brat! I storm off to my room immediately and change. I hear my phone from downstairs beeping uncontrollably. Who is it?! I go downstairs to pick it up and see a bunch of messages from Chloe and Zoey.

''Don't check your phone until you don't change and eat!'' says mum.

''Ok OK!'' I say, annoyed.

I go upstairs, change fast and come back to eat even faster.

''You're going to choke if you eat that fast!'' says father.

''I have to see what happened!''

''You won't see what happened any time soon if you don't stop eating fast.''

''Off!'' ''You're so annoying!'' I say, whispering.

''Mum, dad, Nikki said that-"

''Stop please!'' I say.

After I eat I check my phone to see edited photos of me with ugly filters admitting that is me in real life! The whole internet is making fun of me now! I didn't post those! My parents would've killed me! This is cyberbullying.. I have to stop the person doing that..

Mackenzie's pov

Nikki will pay. I tell you that for sure.
