And so we have arrived, to witness a new chapter. Dib seems to have his work cut out for him, as he has no idea of what Zim plans to do, though he has made his intentions VERY clear. Will Dib be able to walk away from their confrontation alive? Or is it all some kind of elaborate out-of-season April fool's joke? Well…it's time to find out!
"Out of all the places he could go, it just had to be a junkyard," Dib muttered to himself out of spite, as he looked upon the rusted and decayed sign that hung over the gate, barely visible in the darkness of the night. The slogan of some old and forgotten company had long since rotted away, and only the disgusting shrivels of colored paper remained, still holding on after all those years against the elements. Still, by every measure possible, it was more welcoming than the hell landscape made out of jagged and rust-red metal that stood in piles as high as houses, on the other side of the fence.
Dib wondered for a moment why no one had come to clean out the place yet, but those thoughts were quickly buried under the dreadful realization that he had to go in. And the fact that Zim was in there, and possibly planning to murder him, didn't help either. It was one of many times Dib wished that he could have his sister with him if only to remind him that there are things scarier than spooky abandoned junkyards. But unfortunately, she wasn't with him, so once again, it was something he had to deal with alone. Though it did kinda comfort him that he was only dealing with Zim. The alien was at least a familiar threat, compared to the frightful unknown he had the bad tendency to jump straight into, without considering his own safety.
With that last comforting thought, he took the first steps toward the entrance, the gates conveniently standing open, with the broken lock on the ground. Dib didn't need to think hard to figure out who was behind it. He continued forward, the only light source to guide him being the shining moonlight. But even that was starting to get blocked out by the mountains of scrap.
Still, he found himself not as utterly terrified as he thought he would be. It was a quiet night by all things considered, and there weren't any spooky sounds of metal creaking, or movement in the shadows. It was quiet… too quiet, especially by Zim's standards.
It was then that Dib was struck by a concerning thought. That perhaps the whole situation wasn't just solely the work of Zim. That maybe someone, or something, was lending a hand to the invader. Or even had used the invader to get at Dib. For whatever reason. But those thoughts were quickly discouraged. Dib knew that Zim wasn't going to let anyone order him around, and for good or bad, Dib was convinced that there wasn't any force in the universe strong enough to stop Zim. Except himself of course.
No, the most obvious answer was that something was going on with Zim. A thought that was much more terrifying than the one before. But in the end, it didn't matter that much. It wasn't like Dib was going to get so scared that he would run away. He had been forced to go into a junkyard in the middle of the night, and no matter what Zim was planning, Dib wasn't going to let him get off that easily.
He continued his search around the junkyard for a few minutes, finding the place to be more of a maze than anything else. But, though it felt like a maze, it was just an extremely winding road that Dib followed wherever it lead. Without the path he was on, there wouldn't be any way for him to traverse the place without getting impaled by a sharp piece of steel. Which he was starting to think was rather convenient. And by the way, the scrap seemed to have been crushed up against the trash piles, as if the road had been artificially made. He could it. He was on Zim's trail.
As he walked, wholly occupied by his thoughts, he unknowingly reached the end of the trail. But it was only once he looked ahead, that he realized what he had walked into.
It looked like a giant arena, as the area seemed to be in the form of a circle. The ground was nearly completely flat and free from the junk, revealing the dead earth beneath. The area itself was fairly large, probably half the size of a football field. And directly in the middle was a pile of scrap, just sitting neatly by itself.
Dib could smell the trap from miles away, and wondered whether any new step he took would spring it. Gathering the courage to take a chance, he breathed in and took a big step forward. Not that there was that much else he could do. But to his surprise, nothing happened. He started looking around with a somewhat disappointed look, having been sure that something, anything would have happened. Then out of either pride or stupidity, he took another step forward. Still, nothing happened. Then he did it again. And again. Then again.
He continued doing so, making his way to the center, with long and awkward steps. And suddenly, just as he started wondering what he was doing with his life, he was blinded by a sharp light, probably leaving his already damaged eyesight worse off than before. He instantly took his arm up to block the light. When even that seemed inadequate, he started turning around, hoping at some point he would be standing with the light in his back. His intuition was correct, and Dib was slowly able to recover his sight.
While he stood and rubbed his eyes, he wondered if Zim was going to come from behind and attack him. But he guessed that the light was just so he could make a dramatic entrance, so he wasn't too worried about being backstabbed.
When he was able to see again, he realized that the light was starting to fade, or rather, it was just getting less intense. After a few moments, the light had gotten dim enough so that his eyes wouldn't be burned just by looking at it.
He looked around and saw the light coming from one corner of the area, which was brightening the whole arena. If there was one person he believed would do something like that, it was Zim. And if summoned from the underworld, Dib heard a familiar screech.
"Diiiiib!" screamed a voice he instantly recognized. It didn't take him long to look at the pile of trash in the middle of the area, where he noticed the outline of a small figure standing on the top. He didn't even need to guess to figure out who it was.
"I HAVE BEEN EXPECTING YOU, DIB!" Zim continued to scream, Dib wondering how such a small creature could yell so loud.
"Oh, have you now?!" Dib jokingly fired back, though he understood that it wasn't going to be a pleasant exchange. Still, he slowly started taking steps toward the pile, looking around observingly, trying to see if he could spot any traps.
"OF COURSE I HAVE! DIDN'T YOU GET MY LITTLE…INVITATION?! HAHAHAHA!" Zim replied, with the dramatic and psychotic laugh that only he could make.
"Yes Zim, I got the bomb you sent to me! Seriously though, don't you think that sending mail bombs is a little unoriginal?"
"SILENCE! Don't you dare question Zim's methods! It wasn't my fault you fell for one of the oldest tricks known to Irken strategists! HA! Oh, if only I could have been there to see your gigantic ugly head being BLOWN TO SHREDS!" Zim started laughing again, and Dib continued moving closer. Dib couldn't help but think that even though it was Zim, he still felt that something was off. After all that had happened between them, Zim was suddenly sounding like his old self. Even the whole situation seemed like something the old Zim would set up. Whatever was going on, Dib wanted to figure it out.
".My head didn't blow up Im…if that wasn't obvious already," Dib said back, his voice sounding slightly disappointed. Zim in return seemed to study the human, before finally realizing that yes, Dib's head hadn't been blown up.
"Well, that is unfortunate. NO MATTER! I WILL JUST HAVE TO DO IT…MYSELF!" He said, with an ominous smile on his face though Dib couldn't see it.
"Sure, whatever you say. But can you at least tell me what this is all about?"
"Eh? What that's supposed to mean?!" Zim angrily replied, sounding like Dib had just asked him the most stupid question possible.
"Don't play dumb Zim! You didn't try to blow me up and then made me come all the way out here for nothing! Whatever it is, you can tell me all about it…after I've punched you for trying to kill me." Dib explained, trying to sound as invested as possible, but his voice kept revealing how tired he was of the whole situation. It was the same rhythm and routine he had gotten so used to over the years, but after those last few months, it all suddenly was starting to feel…pointless. He wasn't willing to accept it yet, but one thing was clear. He had lost his enthusiasm in his mission to stop Zim. Of course, the problem was that Zim most likely hadn't, and Dib was in the middle of a giant arena, and it wasn't very likely he was going to deal with the situation without a fight. Though for once…he would rather avoid fighting. Something that confused himself as much as it would Zim.
"HAH, you think that Zim needs a reason to orchestrate your DEMISE! You really are dumber than I thought!"
"Then why are you here?! Why am I here?!" The human asked, making no attempt at hiding his frustration. If Zim wasn't going to tell him outright then he could at least try to force it out of him.
"WHY?!" Zim said as if appalled by the mere word. His face twisted into an irritated expression, and he started grinding his teeth together.
"I'LL TELL YOU WHY, DIB-WORM!" He exclaimed just as Dib was reaching the foot of the pile he was standing on. Zim then took a step forward and started gracefully sliding down the small mountain of scrap, before landing in front of Dib.
The human was hit by a strange feeling, after seeing finally seeing Zim's face after so long. Not that it was so long, but it sure felt like it. He couldn't deny he had missed that ugly mug. But it was as he looked Zim in the eyes, he could see something he rarely saw in the green alien. Bitterness. Not the kind that normally followed after his every tantrum or his attempts at enacting revenge for petty things. No, it was something purer. And seeing it on Zim's face, for some reason made Dib feel…bad.
"I'm simply removing a pest that has been ruining my mission for too long! I'm doing what I should have done the moment you first started intervening with my GLORIOUS PLANS!"
"Oh yeah, and what are you gonna do to remove me?" Dib asked though he could already guess what he would say next.
"...I will defeat you, Dib-thing." Zim slowly said, trying to sound as dramatic as possible, though all it did was make Dib let out a tired sigh. But Zim just decided to ignore it.
"Oh yes, you heard me, Dib-fool. It has been a long time coming, but on this miserable night, and in this disgusting place is where it shall happen. So enjoy these last moments of breathing, which shall very soon be followed by NOT-BREATHING!" Zim threatened, pointing at Dib with his claw. Not that it had any effect, as the human just looked back at him with an uninterested expression.
Dib looked side to side while scanning the area, earning a confused look from Zim.
"Really? This is the place you choose?" He asked after looking back at Zim.
"Uhm…" Zim muttered, before finally coming up with an answer, that would make him look cool.
"...YES! YES, THIS IS THE PLACE WHERE YOU WILL MEET YOUR WELL-DESERVED, AND GRUESOME END-"
"You can't be serious?" Dib said disappointed, this time Zim looking more annoyed than confused.
"ZIM IS INDEED, VERY SERIOUS! SO IF YOU WOULD SHUT YOUR DISGUSTING FACE HOLE, THEN I WILL-"
"Out of all the places you could choose for our final showdown, you choose a junkyard. C'mon, I thought you would be better than that."
"How…..DARE YOU?! YOU CAN NOT EVEN FATHOM THE AMOUNTS OF PAIN I'M GOING TO INFLICT ON YOUR DISGUSTING-" Zim suddenly stopped, and just stared at Dib, with the slightest hint of shock on his face. He had finally noticed the small smirk that the human wore on his face. For some reason, that smirk nearly made Zim gasp.
"You're…why aren't you taking Zim seriously?!" The alien asked, his voice much lower, but somehow more impactful. It was after hearing those words, that for the first time since their conversation started, Dib recognized Zim. The Zim who he had fought against for so long. The Zim that he had somehow managed to become friends with, without having been torn to shreds. The one that had finally managed to change after all those years, no matter how impossible it seemed. This was the Zim he recognized and the one he had come all the way to find. It was then his turn to nearly gasp.
He stood silently for a moment, before clearing his head and answering Zim.
"Well…come on Zim. Isn't this a bit much, just because I called you soft? You can't expect me to accept that's the reason you're finally going to try and kill me, no matter how sensible it sounds…at least, coming from you." Dib said, casting away his smirk and teasing tone, talking to Zim seriously for once. Which did help Zim calm down a bit more.
"You're correct for once, human. This isn't just because you called Zim squishy, though you still deserve to die for that." Zim answered while giving Dib a sideways glare.
"I've simply decided to get rid of you. Because of you and your distractions, I'm WAY behind my schedule for conquering the Earth. So I'm going to finally end your pathetic, pitiful life." He continued, making sure to put extra emphasis on the 'pitiful' part, just to annoy Dib.
But the human wasn't faced and instead stared curiously at Zim as if hoping he would see something that would help him learn what he wanted to know. When that didn't do anything, he just sighed wearily.
"So that's it? You just decided to do it now?"
"Yes," Zim answered casually, though he still had an irritated expression on his face.
Dib considered if he should continue arguing, but in the end, he found himself too annoyed at the whole situation to deal with Zim. And at that point, he had gotten tired of getting dragged out in the middle of the night by Zim.
He let out an exhausted, groveling sigh while looking dramatically up into the sky. Once his head fell back down, he looked at Zim with a weary look.'
"You know what? We can talk about this once you cooled down." He said, with Zim finding it rather insulting how Dib was talking to him like he was a smeet.
"So, what have you got planned? Are we just getting into a fistfight, or have you gotten some idiotic machine I have to destroy? Or some other alien stuff that I'm gonna have to deal with. Really, at this point do you EVEN have anything new to show? How many times have we done this exact scenario, which I would like to remind you, usually ends up with me stopping you! Or do I have to keep reminding you that-"
"ENOUGH!" Zim screamed at Dib, his expression even more crossed and angry than usual. Dib slightly flinched at the reaction, though he had thought that his body had gotten used to Zim randomly screaming at him. But as he looked at Zim, he was wondering if he maybe should just have held back his insults just a little bit. Not that Zim was angry about that anymore. Not after seeing Dib flinch. It was just the confidence boost he needed to begin the second phase of his plan. Zim's face was slowly being covered in a manic grin, as Dib looked at him, not sure of what was gonna happen next.
"You want to see what I have got planned…Dib-thing? FINE! Then I'll show your inferior eyes…mmmmyyyy CREATION!"
Before Dib had time to respond, Zim pulled out an activation device of some kind, out of his PAK, his grin only growing wider. Dib was less amused.
"Zim, if you're planning to set off a bomb again, I swear I will-"
Just before he managed to finish his sentence, the green alien pressed his claw down on a button, making Dib stop suddenly, and look at Zim with wide eyes.
"Oh…it's something even better." He said, with a sly, and slightly ominous tone.
Again, before Dib had time to respond, he was interrupted once again. This time by a rumbling under his feet. He was worried something was gonna come up from the ground, but when he looked around, he could see the rumbling was happening everywhere. It was then he realized something. It seemed to be coming from somewhere specifically. Somewhere…very close. Like the pile of trash in front of him for instance. Then, just like out of a horror movie, the scrap pile started moving by itself. It was with his mouth wide open, that Dib looked on as the pile raised itself from the ground. Soon enough, it stood nearly as tall as a building. When it finally stood still, it had the form of a tower. But then it started moving again and started ripping itself apart, the scrap itself seemingly forming into arms and legs. When it was done, it looked like a very big statue of a stick figure.
"Pretty impressive, isn't it? With this machine, and able to control metal through a magnetic field, allowing it to take any form I would desire." Zim explained in a surprisingly friendly manner though it was clear in his voice that he was gloating. Dib only answered after letting out a nervous cough, his eyes never leaving the scrap construct.
"It's…a bit thin," Dib said jokingly, though it was only a way for him to hide his concern. It didn't take a genius to guess that he had to fight that thing, and just by looking at it, he could see that it wasn't very fair odds. His fights with Zim's giant machines or robots usually had something that could even the odds. Looking up at it as it towered over him, finding an advantage seemed very unlikely. After all, it was a moving pile of scrap, it wasn't like there was a cord or something he could pull out to shut it down.
"Are you sure it can even walk? it seems rather unstable." He continued, followed up by a nervous chuckle.
"You know, you might be right. If only there was something that could fix that little problem-BUT WAIT THERE IS!" Zim yelled, before pressing another button.
At first, Dib hoped nothing crazy was about to happen. Then small pieces of trash started levitating and moved over to the statue, where it upon they became a part of it. He looked on as the process continued, slowly getting faster, and then faster, and in the end a lot faster. He had to duck at some point because pieces of scrap were flying toward him. It took a few moments, but when the process was complete, the entire junkyard had been cleaned up. And all the scrap was instead a part of the giant construct, at that point looking more like a mountain with legs and arms. The rusted metal and jagged edges gave it the look of a monster out of a sci-fi movie.
It was then that Zim started laughing maniacally before his PAK legs sprung out, and he started climbing like a spider up the mountain, placing himself neatly at the top.
"HOW DO YOU LIKE IT NOW, DIB?!" He yelled down at the human, who was looking at the thing with pure horror on his face."
"HA! YOU LOOK LIKE A DISGUSTING FLY DOWN THERE, DIB!" He said with a sadistic kind of satisfaction in his voice. He stood silent for a few moments, waiting for Dib to say something back. When he didn't, Zim felt surprisingly annoyed. Though he quickly shook it off, as he had gotten a great idea of what to say next.
"AND YOU KNOW WHAT I DO WITH DISGUSTING FLIES, DIB?!" He continued, still not provoking an answer from the human.
"I CRUSH THEM!" He yelled triumphantly, and it was at that point that Dib decided it was best to run, which was a great idea, as Zim's sent one of the giant arms down towards him.
As he ran, he could practically feel the massive force behind him moving closer. The only thing that could help was the fact that the construct moved somewhat slowly, thanks to its size. Still, one hit would most likely be enough to send him right to the moon.
"Shit shit shit shit shit shit-" Dib muttered to himself while running, looking behind now and then, only to see the arm coming closer and closer.
Okay, Dib calm down! I have dealt with worse, I can do this. I just have to think! The arm is coming from my right, and is moving slowly, but closer. If my estimations are correct, then there should be a small gap between it and the ground just as it's about to hit me. If can manage to jump under at just the right time, I could dodge it. Oh when this is over, I'm never letting you out of my sights again Zim…If I make it out of this alive.
He counted the seconds as they rolled by, still running away from the giant metal arm. The worst part was that if he was to pull off of the maneuver, he had to slow down. Something his instincts disagreed with, very much. But he managed it, and then kept a constant eye on the arm. At first, it was five seconds away. Then three, two, one…
With the finesse of a person with sticks for limbs, he rolled down on the ground, feeling the massive arm move over him, only a few inches away. Once it hit the floor, the shockwave sent Dib flying a few meters away, making him roll on the ground. When he regained consciousness, he quickly opened his eyes and tried to get up. He was a bit clumsy at first, but soon enough he was standing again.
He looked around for a bit, still disorientated. It was then he noticed the arm stuck in the ground, and his eyes lit up. He then looked up at Zim with a giant grin on his face.
"HAH! TAKE THAT ZIM! WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO NOW, HUH, SPACE-BOY?!" He yelled, not able to see the dark grin on Zim's face.
As Dib stood and celebrated his perceived victory, a crane stuck in the arm quietly came to life, and moved toward the human. Just as Dib was about to yell some well-deserved insults, he felt something grab him from behind. Before he knew it, he was caught by the metal claw and was being lifted into the air. Trying all he could, he couldn't get free from its grip. All he could do was look as the crane started moving, and lifted itself into the sky.
…I wouldn't have minded losing a little slower. He thought to himself, as he waited anxiously to see where the crane was taking him.
After a tense moment or two, Dib found himself at the top, face to face with Zim who looked rather satisfied with the outcome.
"Oh, dear, foolish, stupid, Dib. I told you you shouldn't underestimate me! Now you're completely at my mercy…OF WHICH I HAVE NONE OF!" Zim screamed into Dib's face who gulped, realizing that his options for victory had just become very limited.
"Now I might as well tell you my plan since, well…I'm going to kill you. With my AMAZING MACHINE, I will go to every rotten scrapyard on this trashy planet, whereupon my MACHINE will absorb the trash, growing bigger and stronger! The sheer size will utterly terrify you cowardly humans, and in the end, Earth shall kneel to the AMAZING MIGHT that is ZIM! HAHAHAHAHAHA!" Zim's speech ended with rather long laughter, giving Dib plenty of time to think about what he should do next.
Well, seems it's up to me to save the Earth…again. Okay, I have to think of something, and quickly. He won't be laughing forever. Maybe I could…no no that would never work. What if I…no, I wouldn't be able to do that. Perhaps…no, that's just stupid. C'mon on Dib! Think of something! This is a drastic situation, and that requires drastic solutions! There has to be something I can do, at least to just throw him off his game…
Before he had the time to think of every possible solution, Zim, unfortunately, went into a coughing fit, stopping his laughter. Instead, his attention was turned back to Dib. Still, on his PAK legs, he moved just a bit closer to Dib's face, staring him directly in the face, with a sort of mad glint in his red magenta eyes.
"So…tell me Dib-worm…what are you gonna do? You're trapped, right in my grasp. There's nowhere to go, I'm in control, and soon enough, my third phase shall begin, and I will finally conquer this miserable planet! So tell me what a weak, inferior human like you is going to do to stop me?"
Dib stared for a few seconds into Zim's eyes, trying to think of something to say. Whatever it was, it had to somehow affect Zim, and let Dib get through to him. If it didn't there, was a good chance that he wouldn't survive.
"Come on you revolting weasel! TELL ME!" Zim said, urging Dib to answer him. Dib needed a few more seconds before he could answer, preparing the greatest bet of his life. And he couldn't afford to lose.
"...Do you want to talk?"
There was an awkward silence in the air, where Dib held his breath. Zim continued to stare at him, seemingly not even reacting to Dib's words. Actually, he didn't move at all. He stood as still as a statue, and Dib couldn't even see if he was breathing. After nearly half a minute had gone by, Dib started getting worried that he might have accidentally fried Zim's brain. He wanted to get through to him, not shut him down like he some kind of machine!
"...What?" The alien finally muttered, giving Dib a slight shock. But he quickly pulled himself together, recognizing an opportunity when he saw it.
"I-it was just that…this doesn't seem like you. Well, at least not…the current you." Dib stumbled over his words, but he could see the small changes in Zim's face It wasn't exactly softening up, but it started looking less aggressive and more…confused. Which Dib wasn't going to complain about.
"I was just thinking that maybe, you were going through…something, and might want to talk about it? I've heard it should help. And since I'm here, you might as well talk to me. It's not like I'm going anywhere. So…if you want to, we can just-"
"No," Zim said quietly, his head bent down, hiding his face from the human. Dib assumed the 'no' was to the talking part, so he was already contemplating what dying would feel like.
"No, no…" He contuined, to Dib's surpise. The alien then slowly lifted his head, showing a grimace filled with frustration and confusion.
"No, no, no, no, no-" Zim kept saying over and over while looking around, specifically avoiding Dib's eyes, who were worried that for once, Zim might have officially gone off the deep end.
"Uhm…are you okay-" He barely managed to finish his sentence before Zim interrupted him.
"NO!" He yelled, turning his rage-filled eyes back to Dib. "No, this wasn't supposed to happen! THIS ISN'T WHAT'S MEANT TO HAPPEN! YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO SAY SOME STUPID HUMAN INSULT AND THEN…AND THEN! UGH!" Zim said, closing his eyes and holding onto his head as if it was about to burst.
"YOU RUINED IT! YOU RUINED MY PLAN LIKE YOU RUIN EVERYTHING, STUPID DIB-PIG! WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO ZIM?! YOU, YOU…ARGH!"
Dib didn't have the chance to calm him down or ask Zim what he was talking about before the alien suddenly jumped down the construct, landing on the ground and running away. The last thing Dib saw was Zim jumping over the fence, then he disappeared into the night. In the end, Dib was left hanging all alone, wondering what had just happened.
"I think that went…well." He said to himself, but just as the words left his mouth, he could tell they were wrong. Zim might have done a lot of idiotic things, but leaving just as he was winning, still trumps most of those things. But he had other things to worry about, as the construct started shaking, before rather unceremoniously falling apart. Dib looked around as he was slowly descending, a well-placed panic in his eyes.
"Okay…this isn't good."
In his secret underground base, Zim was having less than a good time.
"HE RUINED IT! HE RUINS EVERYTHING THAT DISGUSTING HUMAN PIG!" He yelled, among other things, though they were mostly incomprehensible insults and gibberish. He was also in the process of ravaging his equipment, tearing screens from the walls, and stabbing said walls and machinery with his PAK legs. GIR had long since gone up in the house to watch TV, patiently waiting for his master's temper tantrum to go away while humming to himself. His computer, on the other hand, couldn't just walk out of the room. So he tried his best to calm down Zim, which of course was to no avail."
"MASTER, COULD YOU PLEASE REFRAIN FROM DESTROYING MY ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS? I WOULD MUCH RATHER YOU DIDN'T."
"SILENCE! ZIM IS MERELY-*throws a chair across the room*-WORKING ON A NEW PLAN! YES, A NEW PLAN TO DESTROY THE DIB! But then…HE WOULD RUIN IT TOO, GARGH!-"
As Zim continued destroying the place, the computer tried deciphering his words, finding little to no logic in them.
"IF I MAY ASK…HASN'T THE 'DIB' ALWAYS BEEN TRYING TO RUIN YOUR PLANS?"
"YES, BUT THAT'S DIFFERENT! This time he didn't do what he was supposed to DO! He was supposed to escape, and then fight me! Not…ugh, TALK!" Zim explained, making sure to put as much disgust as he could into the word 'talk'. It was only then he finally paused his rampage, taking an unsatisfied look at his destruction. Apparently, it wasn't enough to quell his fury.
"It's, it's…ARGH, these stupid feelings! He keeps using them against me, to stop and humiliate me!"
With an angry sigh, Zim seemed to get surprisingly calm, walking over to the only chair not thrown on the ground, where he slumped down, with an especially sad demeanor.
"He's right, that horrible Dib-worm…I have grown squishy. Even when I had him right in my claws, he managed to stop me! ME, the amazing ZIM! With what, words?! *Sigh* stupid, human words, and stupid human feelings." Zim said, before slowly laying his on the computer control panel, deciding that if violence wasn't making him feel any better, he might as well wallow in his despair. What else was he to do? The Dib had ruined any chance of Zim being able to destroy him, after having infected him with emotions. Every time he was about to win, Dib could just use those feelings to control him, to make him stop, to make him doubt himself. How could he fight against that?
The computer listened rather uncaringly as his master let out sigh after sad sigh as if he was trying to push his sadness out of him. It was only after doing that for some time, that Zim finally spoke up again.
"*Sigh*...if only my tallest were here. They would be able to remove these sickening feelings for me, and remind me of my mission! But of course, they haven't answered my messages for so many stinking human years! If only they were here, they could help me…they could fix me…"
"...WELL, I'M NOT ABLE TO BRING THEM HERE, BUT I DO HAVE A MESSAGE FROM THEM."
"...you have a what now?"
"A MESSAGE FROM THE TALLEST." Answered the computer casually, ignoring the stiff look that was on Zim's face.
"...I GOT A MESSAGE FROM THE TALLEST, AND YOU DIDN'T TELL ME?!" Zim screamed with as much force as he could, nearly making the place shake.
"YOU DIDN'T ASK." The computer answered, once again very apathetically.
"You…you…argh, Zim will deal with you later! Now, show me this supposed 'message'." Zim ordered, making quotation marks with his claws.
"AS YOU WISH."
Zim didn't even have time to prepare himself when the image of his two beloved tallest appeared on the big screen in front of them. Though the image was frozen, Zim could barely hold down a gasp. It had been years since he last saw his leaders, and there they were, right in front of him. As if they never left. As if everything was back to the way it used to be. Before those squishy feelings started ruining his mission, and his life.
"DO YOU WANT ME TO PLAY THE MESSAGE?" The computer asked though it would have been quite content with watching Zim staring at the screen like an idiot for hours.
"Uh…O-OF COURSE! Play the message, computer!"
"AS YOU WISH."
The screen came to life, and the voices he had longed to hear for so long, finally filled his head once again.
"Hhhhhheeey, Zim."
"Yeah, hey Zim!"
I know it's been some time, but I'm currently working on furthering my education, so it's been hard finding time to write. I'm still working on the story, but school has to take priority. I think you understand that. Still, hope you enjoyed the chapter, and that you will stick around for the next part of the story. I'm, always happy to see all the people still following this story. Have a good day!
