*Johan's POV*

I woke up with a start. I was drenched in sweat and was trying to control my breathing.

I just had a nightmare about a couple being struck down by an evil witch via a magic spell, and there wasn't anything left of them. 'Why did I have a nightmare like that? I never even heard of such a thing.' I thought. I then looked out the window and saw that it was morning.

I smiled at this before I got out of bed and got ready for the day.

Once I was done I left my room and headed to breakfast. When I got there I saw that Peewit was already there, eating. "Morning Johan." He said when he saw me. "Morning Peewit." I said as I went to my seat and started eating my breakfast.

"Hey Johan, I have a question." Peewit said when we finished eating. "What is it Peewit?" I asked him. "Well, for as long as I've known you, I almost always see you wearing that cape. Why?" He asked me.

"Well Peewit, I was actually found by one of the king's knights when I was a baby." I explained to him as we stood up and walked down the hallways of the castle.

"Really?" He asked me.

I nodded my head. "Yes. This cape, the basket I was found in, and this necklace are all that I have of my parents." I said while pulling my necklace from under my shirt. It was made of stainless steel with a small medallion with a strange looking wolf paw print symbol(The cover of the story).

"What does that symbol mean?" Peewit asked me. "I don't know. I asked Homnibus about it, but he couldn't find anything."

We then walked into the castle's courtyard. "Maybe Papa Smurf might know what it means." Peewit suggested. He did have a point, Papa Smurf knew how to cure Peewit when he was being affected by wolf gravy and so much more. He might know what the symbol on my necklace means.

"Alright. Let's go." I said before running towards the stables. Peewit was following.

~Half an Hour Later~

We had just arrived at Homnibus's hovel to see if Papa Smurf was visiting.

When we went to the door we heard Homnibus and Papa Smurf arguing about something that involves magic. "We better go get those two to stop." I said before I opened the door. We saw that Grouchy Smurf and a female Smurf that wasn't Smurfette or Sassette were trying to stop the two from fighting.

For some reason, I knew this wasn't an ordinary fight.

"What's going on here?" I said, trying to get the two's attention, but it didn't work. But it did gain the attention of Grouchy and the unknown female Smurf. I saw that, unlike Smurfette, she had short black hair with bangs parted from the left with a blue streak in it. She wore a dark gray sock hat, a sleeveless dark red striped shirt, a skirt with a layer that looked like black netting over a layer of indigo netting, a blue jeweled bracelet for a belt, black tights, and black shoes I've never seen before.

"Johan, Peewit! Thank smurf you're here. We can't get them to stop arguing. And I hate it." Grouchy said. His voice was deeper than it was the last time we met and he looked and acted less grouchy too. I guess a lot has changed in the Smurf Village since we last saw them. "Why are they fighting this time?" Peewit asked them. "Over something stupid. I'm Vexy by the way. The others in the Village told me all about you two." The female Smurf, now known as Vexy, explained.

Now that I hear what Homnibus and Papa Smurf are fighting about, it does sound like something that shouldn't cause an argument like this. "Did either of you see anything unusual happen when they started arguing?" I asked them. The two shook their heads.

'That leaves very little options on why they are arguing like this.' I thought. I was thinking of a way to stop them from arguing when, 'Use the power of the Medallion.' I heard someone say. And somehow, I knew that the medallion can help.

I took off my medallion, walked to the table where Homnibus and Papa Smurf were arguing, and held my medallion over them. When I did it started to glow so bright that we all had to cover our eyes. After a few minutes I heard groans from pain coming from both Homnibus and Papa Smurf, which caused me to uncover my eyes. "What happened?" Homnibus asked as I placed my medallion back around my neck.

"You two were arguing over something ridiculous. You don't remember?" Peewit asked them. The two shook their heads. "Someone must have smurfed a magic spell on us that caused us to argue. Which is why we don't remember it." Papa Smurf said, his voice was deeper as well. I then held the medallion in the palm of my hand. "My medallion must have broken the spell the two were under." I said.

"You mean you didn't know it could do that and you tried it anyway?!" Vexy asked, practically yelling. I never knew Smurfs can act like that, even Grouchy doesn't get that mad. "I heard a voice say that it'll be able to help." I explained.

"And you listened to the unknown voice in your head. That's not like you Johan." Peewit asked. Homnibus, Grouchy, and Papa Smurf nodded their heads in agreement. "That's just it Peewit. The voice sounded familiar, even if I couldn't identify if they were male or female." I said before holding the medallion to my heart. "I also felt, a sadness of some kind when I heard the voice."

"Perhaps it was the voice of one of your parents." Homnibus suggested.

"What does he mean Johan?" Papa Smurf asked. "Forgive me Papa Smurf. I forgot that you and the rest of the Smurfs didn't know. Something caused my parents to give me up when I was a year old. I was found by one of the King's knights and was raised by him." I explained. I felt a small tear run down my cheek. "He actually passed away a year before I met you Peewit." I said looking at my best friend(he explained this part to Peewit on the ride to Homnibus's).

"We were actually hoping that you might know what the symbol on the medallion means Papa Smurf. It might give us a clue to what happened to Johan's parents and where he's from. As well as why his parents were forced to give him up." Peewit explained to him. I then took off my medallion before giving it to Papa Smurf. He looked at the symbol on the medallion for a few minutes before giving it back to me. "I'm sorry Johan, but I don't know what the symbol means except that it might be your family crest." He said.

'If my family has a family crest, then that means that I'm from a high-class family.' I thought as Papa Smurf handed me back my medallion.

As I did my fingers landed on the air, water, and fire markings that were a part of the symbol. When that happened they started to glow. "Johan! Why is it glowing now?" Peewit asked me. "I don't know! But it's just three markings that are a part of the symbol that are glowing!" I said with fear in my voice, which rarely happens.

Then, out of nowhere, three winged wolves appeared. Which caused Peewit to hide behind me. The three looked around before, "Where are we?"
