I would like to remind that Lea's name is pronounced "Lee" not Lee-uh. Just wanted to clarify again lol. There's other stuff I wanted to say but I forgot... Oh, but I do have most of the story planned out in notes and man is it gonna get wild. I love the weird supernatural multiverse of FNAF lol. Ah, and I'm not sure if I mentioned it in a chapter but I do mention it on my profile page (look there for slightly more info on my stories), but I mentioned a "secret" or surprise animatronic. Truth is, there's more than one. One of them is in this chapter. Enjoy!
On the night that Lea decided to return to the room she had found in the basement, Abby went with her. Vanessa was not at work that night, so it was just the two of them and Helpy, who had decided to follow them. Lea had told Abby beforehand how the endoskeletons behaved, which Abby heavily disliked. When they encountered the first endo, Abby had shouted when it jerked with an activation noise and its eyes flashed.
"All they do is go back and forth," Lea told her as she passed the thing.
Startled, Helpy ran up to Lea and hopped with his arms up until she scooped him up in her arms. Meanwhile, Abby kept her eyes and flashlight on the endo until she had joined Lea several feet behind it. The moment they were out of its line of sight, it began to trudge ahead in the direction they had come.
Abby shuddered. "Whyyy?"
They had to play a game of what was essentially red light, green light with some of the endos to move them out of the way, as even Lea – despite her assurance to Abby that the things would not harm them – refused to actually touch them. Once they finally reached the end of the series of hallways, they found the room that Lea had spoken of. Strangely, though, all of the toys and drawings had disappeared.
"What?" Lea breathed as she looked around. "Everything is gone. I swear there were toys and crayons. And those drawings!"
Abby swept the room once with her light then froze as she noticed the inactive endoskeletons hanging from the ceiling. "Uh, Lea?"
Lea glanced at her then up at the hanging creatures. "That was there last time. I'm not worried about them. Where's all the stuff? The evidence!?"
Abby forced herself to look away from the endos. "The suspect must've gotten rid of it after catching wind of you being in here." She gestured to the open air vent. "You said you had to rip that off, right? Because you heard someone coming?"
"Tch! Shit!" Lea stamped her foot on the colorful padded floor, causing Helpy to let out a surprised squeak. "Sorry, Helpy…"
Abby moved closer to Lea, feeling uncomfortable with the hanging endos. "Hey, who do we know was here that night? People-wise, it was just you, me, and Vanessa, right?"
"Yeah? That doesn't mean someone else wasn't sneaking around."
"That's true…" Abby spun around at the sound of something moving in the vent. "Agh!"
One of the Mini Music Men had stopped at the mouth of the vent and poked its head out to look at them. It clapped its symbols together and gnashed its teeth as it shuffled its legs around excitedly.
"Hey little guy," Lea said as she approached it. "Do you have something for me?" She reached her left arm out, presenting the Faz Watch to it. After it reached over and touched it with a hand, the screen lit up with the indication that it had received a message. "Hm? A video? Is this something you recorded?" Abby moved closer to watch it with her.
The video was indeed from the point of view of the Mini Music Man as it peered out from the mouth of a vent into the very room they were currently standing in. In the video, there was a feminine figure dressed in a makeshift rabbit costume that heavily resembled the children's drawings Lea had found. The rabbit was calmly gathering up the drawings and toys near the vent when she suddenly took notice of the Music Man and attempted to grab it. The rest of the video was the little animatronic's escape through the vent system until the video was cut off.
"That was fucking weird," Abby said bluntly. Helpy made a disapproving sound at her language.
"That was the rabbit lady from those drawings!" Lea said. "She was picking up all the stuff from this room!"
"Well, that explains why everything is gone now. Question is: who the hell was that? Do you think they're here now?"
"I don't know… I hope not." Lea gave the Mini Music Man a soft pat on the head. "Thanks. Let me know if you guys catch anything else. But be careful!"
It nodded and turned to scurry away through the vents.
"Now what?" Abby asked.
"Guess it's back to snooping around new places."
"Hm. Oh! There's something I found by Gator Golf last night! Let's go check that out."
"What is it?"
"Beats me. Bout to find out, though!"
…
Lea still had yet to see Gator Golf until that night. The mini golf area was bigger than she had expected and designed to resemble a sort of swamp or marsh. There were several water and plant-filled reservoirs throughout the place from which very large cartoonish mechanical alligator heads would pop out and hiss every so often. The entire place was a tad dark, with lights focusing on certain features, the gift shop, and the golf course itself. High above it all were catwalks with alligator gondolas trailing along a rail that passed several stopping points.
"I like this place," Lea said. Helpy smiled and let out a delighted sound, echoing her enjoyment of the aesthetics.
"Come on. This way." Abby gestured for her to follow.
She led the way around one of the reservoirs, narrowly avoiding getting knocked over by one of the giant alligator heads as it popped out to hiss at them. Cursing under her breath, she led Lea around to a tight space between the black wall and cardboard plants that was well-hidden in the dark corner. Abby clicked on her flashlight, revealing an unfinished hallway with a metal walkway.
"This is a dead end," Lea said when they reached the back wall.
"I thought so too, but check this out." Abby shined her light on what appeared to be a crease in the plaster, as if a door had been covered up. Around the middle of one side was a small hole. "I think this is a door with no handle." She looked at Lea and gave her a mischievous grin. "Wanna bust it open?"
Lea placed Helpy down then approached the covered door. "Of course I do."
Abby used the butt of her flashlight to crumble the rest of the plaster covering the hole where a knob or handle would go. After, Lea grabbed it with her left hand and braced her right hand against the wall before tugging on it. She gave it a few quick pulls, causing the plaster to crack and crumble until, with one final and harsh yank, she forced the door open and jumped back as plaster debris fell on top of her.
"Ack! It's in my eye!"
Abby chuckled. "Oh, hey! You got it!" While Lea dusted herself off, Abby and Helpy peered around the door into the darkness behind it. "Whoa… Dude, there's a whole hallway down there!"
Lea gave herself one final glance over before joining them to look. "Spooky. Well, let's go check it out." She picked up Helpy again so they would not accidentally lose or step on him in the dark.
The dark hallway was musty with old plaster and wood. Like the hallway before, the floor was metal, which creaked and groaned under the sudden weight of people. At some point, the hall made a sharp turn and led to a doorway with no door. They passed through it and found themselves in a sort of room that was so dark, they could see absolutely nothing outside of Abby's flashlight beam.
"What is this place?" Abby asked as she looked around. "AH!"
"Abby!" Lea had heard her shout and then a splash of water.
"Aw gross!" Abby said, looking down at herself. She had unknowingly stepped off the edge of the wooden flooring into a small channel of cold stagnant water that was luckily only deep enough to reach her ankle. "Ah it's in my shoe! Wet socks are so gross!"
Lea grabbed her arm to help her back up, then pulled out her own light to look at the water. "Huh?" The floor of the room was divided in half by a channel of shallow water. Protruding from the water was a metal rail, and resting on the rail next to them was an artificial log that was carved out with seats and lap bars. "Was this a log ride?"
"Yup," Abby said as she found a sign. "It says, 'Captain Foxy's Log Ride.' Foxy? Oo, do you think there's a Foxy animatronic here?"
Lea winced a little. "Foxy? Was this ride ever advertised?"
"I don't think so," Abby replied. "I've never heard of it." She shined her light down a blocked off tunnel in front of the log. "Looks like they never finished it for some reason."
"But why leave this stuff here?" Lea mused. "It's so wasteful and inefficient to leave it and just block it off. I wonder if something happened?"
Abby shrugged, even though Lea was looking away from her. "Eh, these guys cancel stuff mid-way through all the time. They also get rid of stuff without explanation all the time, too. I was so mad when they got rid of the old El Chip animatronic. They should've just upgraded him like the Glamrocks," she said bitterly. She turned and suddenly gasped.
"What? What?!" Lea was startled.
"Lea! Look!"
Lea followed the beam of her light to a dormant animatronic on the other side of the channel. She tensed at the sight of it. It was a more modern-looking version Foxy, in seemingly perfect condition. The waist and legs were painted brown, to look as though he was wearing pants, his right hand had been replaced by a sharp metal hook, and he was wearing an old-style navy-blue mariner captain's coat and a black pirate hat with a big white feather in it. On the front of the hat was a red silhouette of a fox head with a pair of crossed cutlasses behind it. His right eye was covered by an eyepatch, and the other was half-closed and staring blankly at the floor.
Abby leapt across the channel to go over to the animatronic. "Do you think you can fix him?"
"Is he actually broken?" Lea asked from where she was. Although he was clearly not the same Foxy she knew as a child, seeing him brought back memories that made her just a little uneasy. "I think he's just powered off. Uh, see if you can find a switch or breaker somewhere so we can see."
Abby found the breaker on her side of the room and forced the old lever down. With a loud clunk, all the lights in the room lit up, causing them to shield their eyes, and the animatronic stood up straight, opened his eye fully, and began to move and recite programmed dialogue. Abby walked around him, turning off her flashlight, and stopped to wave her hand in his face.
"Welcome to Cap'n Foxy's Log Ride Adventure!" the animatronic recited, oblivious to her presence. "Climb aboard and –"
"Huh," Abby said. "It's acting like the old El Chip robot."
Lea carefully jumped across to join her. "You mean static and pre-programmed?"
"Yeah. Not like the others."
After reciting his lines, the animatronic settled, twitching or jerking with sudden movements every few moments to simulate a living thing. Only the upper half of the body moved, as the feet were bolted to the floor. "I guess it's actually an old model," Lea said. She was a bit disappointed.
"What're ya waiting for?" Foxy said suddenly.
They both flinched. "…I guess it's programmed to know if the ride's started or not," Lea reasoned.
Abby eyed the hat on his head. "Do you think that hat's attached to him?"
"Whyyy?" Lea asked suspiciously.
"Because I want it. Duh."
"Abby…"
She was already reaching up for the hat. The instant she touched it, the animatronic turned at the waist and nearly knocked her with his arm. "Yarr! Keep yer mitts off me hat!"
Abby let out a short scream, startled by it. Lea was about to suggest that perhaps it was designed to react to certain stimuli when it continued.
"Where'd ya go!?" He flailed his hook up and down as he pivoted on his hips. "Er, if I could sees ya, I'd have ya walk the plank for that!"
"Lea," Abby said. "Are you sure it's different?"
"I don't know," she admitted. "Hold on." She handed Helpy to Abby then went up to him and found the tiny buttons that would force open the chest cavity so she could check the interior.
"Agh!" Foxy yelled when his chest was opened. "Ye scallywags! What d'ya think yer doing!? Get out of there!"
Lea yelped and ducked as he swung at her with his hook. "Knock it off!"
"Knock it off yerself!"
"Huh?!" She was surprised that he directly responded to her.
"Arr, ye've forced me hand!" He suddenly set off a loud alarm that was similar to the one the S.T.A.F.F. bots used to call for help.
Lea, Abby, and even Helpy all covered their ears. "Agh! Lea! Make it stop!"
"I'm trying!"
She held her ears with one hand and her other shoulder as she pulled out her Faz Wrench and tried to locate the hidden reset switch inside. All the animatronics and S.T.A.F.F. had reset switches only usable via a Faz Wrench. Each one had their switch hidden somewhere in their head, but Lea had to try and access Foxy's through the chest cavity. This was already difficult without him flailing around and trying to hook her. Technically, the reset switches should only be activated under very specific conditions, as doing it incorrectly could cause a complete system shutdown or malfunction.
"Get out of there!" Foxy shouted, no longer able to move.
Lea had managed to force her entire arm up into his chest and neck, shoving the wrench into a slot that clicked. "Got it!" She tried to turn it one way, confused when it would not turn. It was then she realized the problem. This animatronic was like the Glamrocks. However, he had been placed in his most basic mode. Something kind of like the trial mode of a robotic toy at the store. She turned the wrench the other way, and Foxy jerked, made a sound like a computer being shut down, then slowly settled into a limp position standing upright with his head, arms, and tail all hanging.
Abby uncovered her ears. "What did you do? Did you turn him off?"
Lea removed her arm and stood up, placing the Faz Wrench in her back pocket. "No. I forced his systems to reset into their complete mode."
"What does that mean?"
Foxy's ears and head began to twitch as his eyes lit up again. He shook his head and looked around, moving much more naturally and looking fully aware of his surroundings now. "What the – Where in the deep blue sea am I?!"
"He's alive!" Abby shouted, attracting his attention.
He looked at her, ears pricked. "Who're yeh? Where am I?" he demanded.
"Whoa, hey," Lea said soothingly. "It's all right. Just relax. What's the last thing you remember?"
He considered it for a moment. "Hrm… Dunno. Something about a log ride. Who are ye girls anyway?"
"I'm Lea and this is Abby." Helpy chattered. "Oh, and this is Helpy."
Foxy looked down at the little bear. "Aye, I know him." He looked down at his own feet. "What in the blazes? Me feet are stuck to the floor!" He tried to pull his feet up.
"They must've brought him here for the attraction," Abby said. "I guess they were going to keep him in that 'try me' mode for the ride."
They jumped at a loud cracking sound and looked back to see that he had ripped part of the floorboards away as he forced his feet free. He stumbled forward with his first few steps but quickly gained his balance and placed his hand and hook on his hips to look around. "Ah, that's better. Now where's the exit to this place?"
"Uh," Abby pointed with her thumb. "We came from there."
"Great!"
"Ah, wait!" Lea called as he took off.
They ran after him through the halls until they reached Gator Golf, where they found him taking it all in. When the nearest gator head popped out from the water, Foxy turned and slashed his hook across its snout. "Back yeh monster!"
"Ah, Foxy!" Lea shouted. "Don't do that!" She ran over to look at the damage as the thing retreated back into the water. "You can't just go around slashing at everything that startles you!"
"Startled? Ha! Capt'n Foxy fears nothing! I was giving that beast the what for!"
"The what?" Abby asked.
"Exactly!"
She looked confused.
"What is this place anyway? A jungle?"
"It's a swamp," Abby told him. "Well, technically it's mini golf. It's Monty's Gator Golf."
"Who?"
"Oh, wow. You've been gone a while, haven't you?"
Lea was beginning to consider that reactivating Foxy might get her into trouble. Watching him excitedly exploring the golf course confirmed that he would be difficult to hide, as she was sure that he would refuse to return to the abandoned log ride. Of course, she did not blame him. She did not want to put him back in there anyway.
"If you already know Helpy, does that mean you know the others too?" Abby asked. "Like Chica and Freddy?"
Foxy had been peering over one of the reservoirs in anticipation of a gator head bubbling beneath the water when he perked his ears at those names and sprung from the reservoir to return to Abby. "Of course I do! Are they around?"
"Yeah. Well, somewhere."
"Come on," Lea said. "We might as well show you around."
Foxy happily followed them out of the golf course and into the main atrium where he looked around in awe. "So many colors! Too many lights!" He sniffed. "…Cotton candy?"
"Foxy!?"
They all turned to see Chica standing nearby and staring at them in shock. She dropped the stick of cotton candy she had been carrying and ran over to them.
"Chica!" he greeted happily.
"Oh my gosh, it is you! Where have you been!?" She hugged him.
"In a literal hole in the wall, it would seem."
"What?" She looked to Lea and Abby for an explanation.
Lea laughed nervously. "Uh, yeah… We might have been breaking and entering in some hidden back areas when we found him. I reactivated him."
"But why was he… Oh, who cares?! You're back!"
"Aye lass."
"Oo, you have to see Kid's Cove! Come on!" She led the way down to the beach-themed area where the floor was painted to look like sand and water.
There was a lighthouse slide, a pillar buoy with a fake campfire in front of it and several television screens, a giant sun-shaped light on the ceiling, and fake clouds and seagulls hanging down. To one end was a tipped tugboat with big plastic tentacles sticking up from the ground around it. There was also a giant statue of Foxy.
"Not bad," Foxy mused as he gnawed on his hook. "Could be better though…" He looked up at the statue. "A great representation, surely, but nothing like the real me. If only they – egad! It's a crocodile!"
Monty winced. "Hey! I'm an alligator!"
"It talks!" Foxy settled himself. "Er, um, pardon me, sir. Thought yeh were a mindless sea beast for a moment there."
"The hell?"
"Monty!" Lea scolded.
"Uh oh," Abby said with a smirk. "Looks like his language filter is glitchy. That'll be funny when the guests arrive."
"No it isn't!" Monty protested. "The filter only activates when guests are around."
"Oh, so you chose to say that, huh?" Abby's grin widened. "Lea, your alligator is misbehaving."
Monty suddenly got nervous. "Uh, who is this guy anyway!?"
"Oh, Monty," Chica piped up. "Don't you recognize Foxy?"
"Foxy?" He looked at Foxy, then at the Foxy statue, then back at Foxy. "…Oh! Uh, hi. Didn't know they were introducing a new animatronic. Sorry." He turned to mutter, "It's only my second day out of lockdown…"
"Actually, he's not new," Lea explained. "We found him hidden away in an abandoned attraction."
"Oh! You – You found him? Wow! Uh, that's… Cool." He tapped his claws together, staring off to the side now as if fretting about something.
"Cool indeed!" Foxy shouted. "Now where's the rest of me old friends? Freddy? Bonnie?"
They flinched at the mention of Bonnie. "Oo, about that," Abby said. "Bonnie's been missing for…a while now."
"Missing? What happened?"
"We don't know. He just disappeared."
Chica attempted to brighten the mood a little. "But Freddy's still here! And you'll get to meet Roxy!"
"Who?"
Abby answered. "Your replacement. OW!"
Lea had harshly elbowed her in the ribs. "Abigail!"
"Replacement, eh?" Foxy said. "We'll see about that… Take me to the old Fredster!"
"Oo! And there's the DJ," Chica said as they walked. "Oh, oh! And the Daycare attendant!"
Foxy listened to her rambling while he looked around at everything on their way to Rockstar Row. Chica was leading the way with Foxy and Abby on either side of her; Abby was still carrying Helpy. Behind them a few steps was Lea, who slowed her pace to match Monty, who had been following from a distance. He turned his head to look at her when he caught up and seemed surprised when she smiled at him.
"Uh, hi Lea," he said awkwardly.
"Hi Monty. What were you doing in Kid's Cove?"
"Huh? Oh, nothing. I was just kind of wandering really."
She chuckled. "You were bored?"
"Yeah."
She laughed again.
Their first stop at Rockstar Row was Freddy's room where Chica opened the door without knocking. "Freddyyy!" she sang.
He looked surprised. "Chica? Do you need something?"
"Look who's back!" she said as Foxy stepped past her into the room.
"Foxy!?"
"Freddy!" Foxy greeted him in the same friendly manner he had done with Chica, arms outstretched for a hug. "Good to see another familiar face!"
"Where have you been?!" Freddy asked after hugging him. "Are you alright?"
"What are you all doing?" Roxy's voice asked as she pushed through the group gathered at Freddy's door. She stopped upon seeing Foxy. "Huh? Captain Foxy?"
"Oh, so ya know of me, eh?" He turned to look her up and down.
"O-Of course I do. Everyone knows about you."
"Hrm…" He gnawed on his hook. "So yer my replacement? Yer prettier than I expected."
"Replacement? No, I – You think I'm pretty?" She tossed her hair over her shoulder. "Well, I… Thank you."
Abby and Helpy snorted and exchanged amused looks with each other while Lea rolled her eyes.
Foxy studied her for a moment longer before turning back to Freddy to answer his previous question. "Apparently, they had me locked away in some long-forgotten log ride."
"Log ride? I remember that. But why did they leave you there? You must have been so lonely…"
"Well, truthfully, I don't recall any of it. Seems I was asleep until these two lasses woke me up." He gestured to Lea and Abby. "That said – I'm going to make the two of yeh official members of me crew! Me first mate and navigator!" He gestured to Lea then Abby.
"It's about time someone recognizes my navigational skills," Abby said.
Lea gave her an odd look before rolling her eyes. "Thank you Foxy. That's a big honor. But I'm a bit worried. You see, no one knows we were snooping around back there. It was boarded up and we kind of…broke in. We might get in trouble over this. Still… I couldn't just leave you there. Especially after realizing you were sapient like the others."
"Well, ya have my gratitude nonetheless lass."
"Eh, don't worry," Abby told Lea. "I think it'll work out. Mr. Stanley is reasonable. And I'm sure he wouldn't mind another animatronic raking in more customers. Foxy coming back would be a bit hit."
"Yeah… I'll just have to talk to him when arrives later."
"In the meantime," Chica chimed in. "Let's show Foxy around more! We can introduce him to the others!"
…
Foxy had been highly impressed by everything in the Pizzaplex, especially the size of the DJ. There were a few attractions he recognized, like El Chip's, Bonnie Bowl, and Mazercise. When they brought him to see Bonnie Bowl, Freddy refused to go with them and Monty seemed nervous again. Foxy remarked on what a shame it was that his friend had gone missing, then suggested that perhaps Lea and Abby would be able to find him just as they had found Foxy. Lea noticed Monty shuffling his feet at this remark. She was unsure if Monty was actually guilty, but she was positive that he knew what happened, despite telling her otherwise. Still, there were some things she wanted to work out before attempting to confront him about it.
When they entered the Daycare, Foxy read aloud the sign above the slide "Slide into fun," said, "Don't mind if I do!" and leapt head-first into it, much to many of the others' surprise.
Lea shrugged and climbed into the slide to go down after him, feet-first. Lea clicked her tongue in disapproval of Abby having left the lights on again.
"Oh, hello princess," Sun said as she pulled herself out of the ball pit. "Decided to take the fun way down?"
"I did."
"Yaharr!" Foxy sprung up from the ball pit, scattering colorful plastic balls and scaring Sun.
"AH! F-Foxy!?"
"Aye, that be me!" He climbed out of the ball pit, shook himself like a dog, then stood up and looked around. "It be a playhouse!" He ran off to start climbing and crawling through the jungle gyms and play pens.
"Oh my," Sun remarked as he watched him, head tilted slightly. "He's very energetic, isn't he?"
"Yeah," Lea chuckled. "He was locked up in an old log ride they never finished. I think he hasn't seen the Pizzaplex since its early days, so a lot of it is new and exciting to him."
"I see – Don't eat that!"
Lea spun around to see who he was shouting at and found Chica eating the plastic balls from the ball pit. "Chica!"
She froze and stared at them for a long time before looking sad. "Sorry… I just got so hungry…"
"That is not food!" Sun scolded her.
"Sorry…"
He looked at the others as they joined them from the walkway down and winced. "Oh! You're all here? This is…new."
"Yes," Freddy said as he looked around. "It has been a long time since I have entered the Daycare."
"I don't think I'm supposed to be here…" Monty said.
"I don't think I've ever been here," Roxy added.
Foxy popped out from a tube and perched himself on all fours at the edge of the jutting ledge Lea would often find Moon on. His tail was swishing with excitement and he looked up at the balcony high up on the wall. "What be over thataway?"
"Hm?" Sun followed his gaze. "Oh. That's my room."
Foxy leapt down from the ledge and ran over to the wall, looking up at the balcony. "How do ya get up there?"
"Oh, well I use a hook, but there's a set of stairs over – Ah!"
Foxy suddenly jumped up, latching his claws and hook into the wall and springing himself up a few times until he reached the balcony. Once he got to it, he stood up and turned to look down at them triumphantly. "Yaharr! It be my balcony now!"
"What?!"
"Oh look," Abby said as Foxy disappeared into Sun's room. "He's doing what pirates do. Pillage."
"Pillage!?" Sun called down the hook from the ceiling and used it to hurry up to his room. Inside, he found Foxy rummaging around through things and making a bit of a mess. "Ah! Stop that!"
The little robin squeaked with surprise and jumped up from its makeshift nest. Attracted by the sound, Foxy stopped to look at it. "Hrm? A little birdie?"
"Get out! Out, out, out!" Sun shooed him out to the balcony where Foxy jumped down into the ball pit below. Sun took a moment to soothe the startled robin before going back out and closing the curtains to his room. "Bad fox!"
Foxy climbed out from the ball pit and raised his hook at him. "Come down here and fight me like a man! I can take ya!"
"Knock it off Foxy," Lea told him.
"No fighting in the Daycare!" Sun said from his balcony, a bit scared to go back down.
"Foxy," Lea warned.
He twitched his ears. "Aw, I was only kidding."
"What a great first impression," Abby said with a grin. "Foxy, that's Sun, the Daycare attendant."
"Pleasure."
"The pleasure's all yours," Sun grumbled. "You made a mess!"
"A few scattered papers ain't that big of a deal," Foxy dismissed. "Yer room is already a mess."
"Foxy, be nice," Lea said.
"Right, right. Apologies."
Lea walked off to the security desk while Foxy began to gather up all of the foam building blocks. The others watched him, impressed with how quickly he was able to make a large boat with them. It was even sturdy enough for him to stand on top of it.
"Dude," Abby said. "He just made a pirate ship out of foam blocks in like, two minutes."
"I can make a ship out of any material!" He announced proudly. "Doesn't mean it will float though," he added more quietly.
Helpy ran up to the foam ship and chattered something until Foxy leaned over to scoop him up. Abby climbed up as well. Suddenly, the lights clunked off.
"Ah! Lea, why?" Abby jumped.
"Because," Lea said as she rejoined the group. "You keep forgetting to turn off the lights. Moon deserves some time to be out too."
"Yeah, but he freaks me out," Abby grumbled. She looked at Foxy, who seemed unfazed by the sudden darkness. "Better watch out, Captain. Moon isn't very friendly, especially to rowdy strangers."
"Moon? Ha! Cap'n Foxy fears nothing! Especially not the moon! Fearing the moon would be like fearing the ocean herself!"
"What do you mean?"
"Oh, well, you see, the moon affects the tides," he explained.
"Naughty, naughty…" a voice growled in the darkness.
Abby squeaked quietly and moved closer to Foxy, who twitched his ear and looked around calmly for the source of the voice. Moon peered over the edge of the foam ship with red glowing eyes and twitched his head to the side.
"Hm?" Foxy looked at him. "What're ya doing there? Get off me ship!"
"This ship is property of the Daycare…"
"Oh, I see. Yer working with the kraken, ain't ya?"
Moon's head tilted further. "Naughty fox… Bad pirate…"
"Oh?" Foxy crouched on all fours, tail lashing. "I'll show you!" He sprung at him, but Moon had dropped down out of the way. Foxy landed on his paws on the floor below and looked around. "Where'd ya go ya lunar looney?"
Moon tackled him from behind and the two began to roll and scuffle like a pair of angry cats.
"Oh my!" Freddy said.
"Yeah! Go for the legs!" Monty said, earning a look from Roxy. "Uh, I mean… Stop?"
"Seriously, Monty? This isn't one of those stupid wrestling shows you like."
"L-Leanne," Freddy said. "What should we do?"
She watched the two quarreling animatronics. At first, she had been surprised and worried, but she soon noticed something. "…It's fine. Let them work it out."
"W-What?! Are you sure?"
After a minute or so, they both broke apart. "Had enough, have yeh?" Foxy huffed.
Moon growled at him but settled down and sat promptly on the floor, as if he was exhausted. "…Yes."
"Good!" Foxy sat down too. "So have I…"
Lea rolled her eyes and walked over to check each of them. "Seriously? You two were scrapping like a pair of territorial dogs trying to decide who was alpha."
"He started it," Foxy said.
"No he didn't. You did!" Lea rapped her knuckles on his head.
"Ow! Hey!"
After determining that he was fine, she went over to Moon and noticed a faint cut on his abdomen. When she touched it, he jerked away with a grunt. "Did that hurt?" She was surprised.
"No."
Now she was confused, but only for a moment before a smirk crossed her face. "Oh, I see. You're ticklish there."
"I am not ticklish!" he hissed then let out a surprised yelp when she ran her finger across it again. "Grrr, stop that!"
She giggled. "Okay, okay. It's only a paint scratch anyway." She gave him a nuzzle against his face, which surprised him and caused him to freeze. After she pulled away, he grumbled something inaudible and would not look directly at her. She found this amusing.
"Man," Abby said. "I thought that was going to end a lot worse."
"So did I," Freddy said with a sigh of relief.
"I knew it would be fine," Roxy claimed, brushing her hair aside. "Like Lea would let anything bad happen right in front of her. Pfft. You guys are ridiculous." She had been secretly a bit frightened by the encounter herself until noticing that Lea was calm about it.
…
When 7:00 a.m. came around, Lea and Abby made their way to Mr. Stanley's office with Foxy. Though he had been thoroughly surprised to see the pirate fox, he had also been excited and welcoming. It seemed that Stanley had not known what had become of Foxy, as a different person was in charge at the time. Though he did warn Abby and Lea against snooping around in potentially dangerous areas, he was happy to have Foxy rejoin the Pizzaplex and immediately began preparations for him to be implemented into Kid's Cove. Advertisements went out immediately and, the very next day, Foxy was placed into Kid's Cove.
As Abby had predicted, the news of a new animatronic attracted many curious guests, especially after learning that it was Foxy, a character the children knew already. All day, children and other guests flocked to Kid's Cove to see and interact with the pirate fox, who was more than happy to oblige.
Freddy and Chica were glad to have their old friend back, and Monty had quickly taken a liking to Foxy. Though Roxanne did like Foxy, she was also a bit jealous of how popular he was. She was a popular favorite, and having all of the people that used to go straight to her now heading to see someone else instead bothered her. Feeling desperate for approval, she began to linger just outside of Kid's Cove for the next few days so that people would encounter her on the way. Much to her enjoyment, the kids waiting to see Foxy would excitedly approach her for autographs or a quick chat.
On the fifth day after Foxy's return, things began to settle a bit, allowing Foxy the chance to approach her. "Hello there lass."
"Oh," she was a little surprised. "Hello. You've, uh, been getting a lot of attention, huh?"
"Aye," he said with a nod. "Not that I mind, of course. But now that the waters seem to be calming a tad, I finally have the time to have a chat with ya."
"Me?"
"Yeh've been hanging around a lot."
"Oh, uh…" She felt a little embarrassed now. "Sorry."
He let out a laugh. "Don't get me wrong, lass! I don't mind none. Say, I've caught all the shows in the main atrium. Mighty impressive. Especially you, lass."
"Really? You think so?"
"Aye. I can see why the little ones talk about ya so much."
"They talk about me?"
He nodded. "Lots! Heheh."
Lately, she had been having very prideful and snobbish moments about her popularity, but much to her relief, she seemed to be feeling like herself today and was more modest and bashful. "Oh, well… I can see why you're so popular too. I mean, who doesn't like pirates?"
He laughed. "Ya flatter me. Ah, suppose yeh'd best be getting off now. Almost time for the next show."
"Yeah. Um, see you in the crowd?"
"Aye lass! I'll be there!"
She was glad to hear that.
Later, after the Pizzaplex had closed, Roxy began to pace around her room, muttering to herself. After a long time, she left her room and went over to Freddy's, knocking and waiting for a response, unlike Chica.
"Oh, Roxanne," he said. "I thought it was a bit early for Lea to check on me."
"Sorry. Are you busy?"
His ears twitched and he glanced around, standing in the middle of his room. "I do not think so. Did you need something?"
"Yeah. Well, sort of. I mean, maybe?"
He tilted his head, confused.
Roxy let out an exasperated sigh. "Ugh! Okay, so, like, I've been kind of…jealous ever since Foxy came back. All of the guests are obsessed with him! I mean, it's settled a little now, but still. But I can't even be mad about it because, I mean, I get it. New animatronic, pirates, foxes. Who doesn't love those things!? Ugh! And he's so nice! Why is he so nice?!"
"I am sorry… I am afraid that I do not understand the problem?"
"The problem is he makes me feel…weird!"
"Jealous?"
"No, not that! Something else… Something…new. I kept hanging around Kid's Cove because I was jealous and acting like a desperate little puppy, but even after things have calmed down, I keep going over there to watch him. What the hell is wrong with me?"
Freddy thought about it for a moment. "Hm… That reminds me of Bonnie. Perhaps you have a crush on him?"
"A crush!? What!? We can have those!? Wait… Bonnie?" She gasped and Freddy flinched, realizing what he had said. "You! And Bonnie?! Really!?"
"Uh! W-Well, I! Um!"
She gasped again, placing a hand on her chest and looking offended. "Why didn't you ever tell me!?"
"W-We did not tell anyone! I do not know how Chica –"
"Chica knew and not me!? I thought we were friends!"
He was panicked. "We are friends!"
"Then why didn't you guys tell me?!"
"We did not tell anyone! We…did not think we should take the risk of management finding out…"
She calmed down and looked sad now. "Freddy… I'm so sorry. Maybe Lea and Abby will find him like they found Foxy."
"Perhaps." He did not sound hopeful. "Er, I apologize for keeping it a secret from all of you."
"It's fine. I, um, overacted, didn't I? My bad."
He let out a small chuckle. "It is all right. I suppose it shows that you care. Now then."
…
"Okay, okay," Roxy said to herself as she paced around her golden statue in Rockstar Row. "It's fine. No big deal. You just might have a tiny crush on a friend. Probably nothing. Right? Yeah! Duh."
"You're doing that thing again."
"Huh?!" She froze and stared at Monty; Chica was beside him.
"That talking to yourself thing," he said. "You're doing it again."
"How long have you two been there!?"
"Long enough!" Chica sang. "Did I hear you say you have a crush on someone? Who is it?"
"What? No one! No! You heard wrong! I, uh, was talking about how I…accidentally crushed a mop bot!"
"Huh? Is it okay?"
"No!" She winced at herself. "Uh, I gotta go!"
They watched her hurry away to her room and shut the curtains. "…Well that was weird," Monty said.
"Hm, yeah… Hey Monty, do you have a crush on anyone?"
He shrugged. "I dunno. Lea, I guess."
"Bok bok bok!? Really!? Tell me more!"
"…Nah." He turned to leave.
"What!? You can't just say something like that and leave!"
"But I'm doing it now. I'm going to the arcade." He immediately regretting saying anything at all to her. Chica was a serious gossip.
She tried to follow him and pester him further over his slipup, but she inevitably got distracted by one of the food stands along the way. Sometime later, she heard the voices of Lea and Abby. It sounded like they were bickering, so she followed their voices to find them near one of the artificial palms with Freddy between them.
"N-Now, now," Freddy tried to calm them. "There is no need to fight."
"Quit saying stupid shit about my left side!" Lea snapped at Abby, ignoring Freddy.
"It was just a joke! Besides, I like Transformers."
"Abby!" Lea growled.
"Now, Abigail," Freddy said. "Lea's… condition is clearly a sensitive subject. That joke was of poor taste. And Lea, please, calm down and consider your language."
Chica did not need to ask what had happened. Clearly, Abby had ticked Lea off with her jokes for the last time. Lea was usually nice and tolerant, but Abby seemed to know all the wrong buttons to push with her. Seeing Lea reminded her of Monty again, so she set off to find him after determining that Freddy was successfully calming both young ladies.
She recalled that he had mentioned the arcade, but which one did he mean? There were small arcades all over the Pizzaplex. She thought for a while. Usually, when he mentioned games, he was talking about the ones located in the east arcade. She decided to go there and found him playing a zombie shooter game that he seemed really into.
"Hi Monty!"
"AGH!" He spun around to face her with the plastic gun pointed up at the ceiling. "Chica!" The game made a sound behind him and he turned to see it pop up with the game over screen.
"Aw," Chica said. "I made you lose. I'm sorry."
"Eh, it's fine." He placed the controller back onto its holster. "I have the high score anyway. Uh, what do you want?"
"Oh!" She knew from earlier that asking him directly would just result in him dodging her questions. Perhaps if she buttered him up a bit first? "Well, I was just wondering if you wanted to hang out!"
He gave her a somewhat suspicious look.
"What? It's not like we don't hang out anyway! Let's go play golf! It's been a while since I've done that."
He was still suspicious but he liked golf too much to bother saying no. "All right."
"Great! This'll be fun!"
"You say that about everything." He turned to follow her.
"Everything is so much fun!"
"Not everything…"
Chica did love mini golf, but she was not the best at it. She could play decently. Enough to keep up with most people, at least. However, when it came to Monty, she did not stand a chance. Especially at what was quite literally his own game. Monty was programmed for golf, and he had played the courses in Gator Golf hundreds of times, so he knew every way to get a hole-in-one. Sometimes, she tried to copy him, and sometimes it would work. Most times, though, she was off by just a tiny bit.
After her inevitable loss, she sighed whimsically. "Ah well. That was fun!"
"Yeah."
"Do you think Lea would play with us sometime?"
He was looking at the snout of a mechanical alligator head as it pushed itself from the water and slowly retreated back in. It looked like it had been slashed by something sharp, and he wondered what it might have been. As far as he knew, he had never lost himself and began to rampage in Gator Golf. "She mentioned before that she likes golf, so maybe," he replied.
"Did she? When did she say that?"
He turned to look at her now. "Back when we first met. And another time after that."
"Another time? So, have you two been spending time together a lot?"
He tilted his head. "She checks on me every day, like she does for you. That second time was when I was still under lockdown, though."
"Oh right. Lockdown…" Chica's mood shifted from cheery to melancholy. "How have you been feeling since then?"
"I still get angry sometimes," he admitted. "For no reason in particular. The video games distract me, but sometimes I have to go to my room when I feel it."
"Mm. I haven't been angry, but I keep getting so hungry. I don't even actually need to eat, but I end up feeling like I'm starving! I eat so much that it breaks the bag and gets in my circuits and joints. Sometimes it's not even food that I eat!" She sighed. "I don't know what's wrong with me… Lea said that her friend Todd is close to figuring it out. I guess we have to wait just a little longer."
"Hm. …Are they just friends?"
"Huh?"
"Lea and that Todd guy."
"I think so. She told me once that he's an old friend of her dad's when they were in school."
"Oh. …Cool."
She was amused. "Why does that matter, Monty?"
"It doesn't," he said quickly. "I was just curious."
"Okayyy," she sang.
"What? I can't be curious? It's normal!"
She giggled and began to walk away. "Come on! Let's go find the others!"
"Why are you laughing?"
To be continued…
Uh-oh Monty, you didn't think before answering that one. Chica likes gossip, but she genuinely cares about others. Especially her friends. Most of Chica's lines and actions are come up with by my best friend, who helps me plan out everything in rough drafts that I use to write the actual chapters. Chica is his favorite character from Security Breach. My favorite is the Daycare attendant. So, technically this fanfiction story is written by two people together. It's a joint effort.
