The Labyrinth of Gedref... with a twist. In the show Arthur was partially transformed into a donkey, Gwen fully transformed into a deer, and even Freya is cursed to be a bastet. What if Arthur had to experience what it was like being cursed into an animal and had to find a way to break the curse and pass Ahnora's tests completely on his own and without Merlin?

"Arthur," he said, throwing the door open and scaring the tar out of the prince, and then Arthur again because this is not a one-Arthur situation. "I have magic."

It is an age of darkness, Prydain is torn by war and invasion, a land without a king. From barbaric Picts in the north, mystical monsters coming out of the west and viscious Saxons from the east, the Isle is being attacked on all fronts. In my writing, I am exploring a 'what if' scenario that follows the timeline of the original show, but incorporates several notable differences. The first notable change is that Gwen and Merlin are best friends, and their relationship is an essential aspect of the story. Additionally, Gwen is aware of Merlin's magical abilities, and this knowledge will have significant implications

Gwen smiled to herself, amused. Who knew whether Merlin could somehow translate the donkey-speak or had just become so fluent in Arthur's complaints he could anticipate them even in another language. Either way, at least they were keeping each other entertained. (Set in s03e03. Merlin doesn't quite make it through the goblin mischief unscathed.)

Merlin and Arthur get hit with a curse that allows them to feel one another's feelings, and once the knights find out they strong arm Arthur into helping them set Gwaine and Merlin up because they're sick of Gwiane whining about how much he likes Merlin. This goes about as well as you'd expect.

Basically it will be 50 various scenarios where the show's finale could have gone slightly differently resulting in Arthur surviving explored in drabbles. Some are funny while others are sadder. You have been warned. Currently at Chapter 7: Instant. Cross-posted on AO3.
