Prologue I
the Akatsutsumi siblings
Knock. Knock. Knock.
A redhead poked out of a pink blanket. She remained lying as she blearily opened her eyes and took in her surroundings.
The room looked so comforting to the eye. It was done in shades of pink, beige, and white. Her favorite colors.
She blinked some more, slowly gaining her bearings. Sunlight streamed through the thin curtains. At the side table, a clock was flashing the words 6:29 AM in red glowing letters.
"Onee-chan?"
The door in her room opened and she turned just in time to see a blond boy peeked in. He was carrying a notebook in one hand while the other clasped the doorknob.
She slowly sat up, revealing her long red hair that looked like a rat's nest at the moment. "Hm? Rai? What's–?" A yawn cut off the rest of her sentence, as she also rubbed her eyes.
"Uh, it's almost time for breakfast," the boy answered, observing his sister's actions. When she didn't move nor respond, he hastily added, "It's already half-past six. It's our first day, remember?"
What...
What was he talking about again...?
Half-past six... first day...
She nodded absentmindedly, yawning once more. Maybe it wasn't a good idea to stay up late last night, finishing that drama in one go.
The blond sweatdropped. He didn't think she fully caught on what he said. Oh well, Mom told him to wake his sister up, and she's technically awake already so...
"We'll be waiting then." There's a click and the sound of her door closing. Her baby brother has left.
She stood up, stretching as she did so, slowly making her way towards the bathroom at the end of the hallway. She splashed some cold water on her face and dried it with a towel. Afterwards, she brushed her teeth using her favorite strawberry-flavored toothpaste and a pink toothbrush. While rinsing her mouth, her little brother's words were echoing in her mind.
It's already half-past six. It's our first day, remember?
Six-thirty. First day.
What's the relation?
Six-thirty. First day.
First day... remember?
Her eyes widened, almost choking on the water she's gurgling, as she finally realized what today was. Gosh! How can she forget? It's the first day of school today! Classes will start at 8 AM and she just woke up. Oh no!
Everything began to blur as she quickly did her morning rituals. Her bath which usually took around half an hour became ten minutes at most. Fortunately for her, she had it all planned out since yesterday: the outfit she was going to wear and her school supplies were neatly arranged inside a creamy pink messenger bag.
She decided to wear something simple yet still stylish. A white shirt with pink quarter-sleeves, her favorite jean skirt, and pink sneakers. She also put up her hair in a high ponytail using a red bow.
A quick glance at the clock revealed that it was 6:45 AM. She grabbed her bag, stopping in front of a mirror to make sure she's presentable enough, and went downstairs.
"Took you long enough, Onee-chan. I was about to head up and see if you went back to sleep." Those were the words that greeted her as she stepped inside the kitchen.
Her brother paused his reading, greeting her with a boyish grin which revealed his heartstopping dimples.
She merely shook her head with a smile. "Good morning to you too, Rai." She ruffled his blond hair as she passed by on her way to a seat.
She can't wait to get to school!

A/N: Heya, I'm back! I also changed my username. I don't know if someone's still reading this but this is my comfort fanfic and I wanted to continue it and maybe finish it. I'll be editing the rest of the chapters first though.
See you around!
