PAW Patrol and the gold mine
Chapter 1: the dream
This is story that I am about to read to you is the tale of a dog, who risked everything for his friends. It all started far, far away, in the Great deserts of California. Here in the middle of nowhere 3 rickety, condemned, and lonely buildings stood. And in these buildings lived a boy named Ryder and his dogs. Ryder was the most loving owner a dog could want, even though they barely had enough money to survive.
"I'm hungry Ryder," Complained one of the dogs.
"I know you're hungry Rubble, we're all hungry, and I'm trying my best to feed everybody okay." Ryder said with a tired tone.
Ryder worked for a local pig farmer watching pigs. He was paid very little because the farmer was poor too. Ryder wasn't always poor though, he and his dad used to be very successful gold miners. But that was before the Great Depression, when the stock market crashed Ryder's dad lost loads of money. In a desperate attempt to save his family he held onto whatever gold he still had and hid it. And then late one night, his father dug up the gold to pay for some wheat. And a gold thief found him and the gold and the shot him and stole all of the gold that was not still hidden.
After his dad died Ryder's life plummeted like a rock in the river. He sold the remaining gold and silver that was not stolen and got a job. But it was barely enough to support him and his 7 pups. Under the scorching sun Ryder opened up the last bag of dried dog treats.
"Well pups, this is the last bag, so we have to use it wisely, but once it's gone, that's it," Ryder said with a forlorn expression.
"No, there must be something we can do," Chase said.
Chase was the bravest of the 7 pups; he is not one who gives up easily. He will do anything for his friends, no matter the cost.
"I've tried everything Chase; there is nothing we can do." Ryder said with sadness.
"But we haven't tried everything, what about the mine," Chase said with hope.
But at the mention of the mine, Ryder's face fell pale as a ghost.
"Chase, we never speak of the mine, don't ever think about going down there," Ryder said with an angry tone.
"Why, I've heard stories of vast caverns full of gold, silver, diamonds, and iron, endless riches await down there for us to find, then we will never be hungry again."
"No, no person and certainly no pup will be going down in that death pit."
"Why, you haven't told me why, yet," Chase argued.
"Because I lost a pup in that mine, his name was hunter, he wanted to find those riches for us. I let him go because it was a great idea, he never came back." Ryder said with tears.
"Ryder I'm sorry about hunter, but I'm not him, and if you think I'm just going to sit here while my friends starve then you are most certainly mistaken, I'm sorry, but I'm going down in that mine, whether you like it or not." Chase said with a stern voice.
So chase marched back to his pup house to prepare himself for the journey. Ryder realized that he couldn't stop Chase from going, so he went and took his fathers iron pick axe and miners hat. When he met Chase again Chase had crafted to wooden daggers.
"Chase, I can't stop you from going into the mine. But I'm not going to let you go with empty paws. Here, it's my father's old miners pick and hat, please take good care of it."
"Don't worry Ryder; if I don't come back, well then you'll have more food for the rest of yourselves. But when I do come back I will have gold, silver, iron, and diamonds." Chase said.
The rest of the pups came to say good bye, especially Skye. Skye and Chase are best friends; they both have a secret love for each other. So Skye was naturally worried about Chase.
"Please come back Chase, gold or no gold please come back some day, be careful." Skye said with concern.
"Oh Skye, don't worry, I'll return, and I'll bring gold back." Chase said with confidence.
"you better, you better come back, or else I'll, I'll, oh I don't know what I'll do, just come back." Skye stuttered.
Chase said good bye to all his friends and gave them good bye hugs. Then he strapped the daggers onto he's sides and put on the miners hat. He also took the pick and strapped it on his back, then he jumped down into the old mine, ready to face the deadly dangers below.
