"You know, when you said you got us tickets for a cruise… You didn't tell us you got enough for all of us." Mayumi said.
"C'mon, Mayumi. According to Twilight, the Luxe Deluxe is a dang good. cruise ship. They've got pretty much everything onboard the ship. A petting zoo, a dance floor, and plenty of tasty treats. CHS was planning to sail on this ship for their Spring Break, and considering all we've done to help them, I'd be surprised if we didn't get invited to join them." Gemini said.
"Like lighting the pool on fire?" Emo asked.
"That was one time, damn it!" Natsu yelled.
"How is that even…" Merrin started to ask.
"You don't want to know." the group collectively said.
"I'm surprised we were even let on the trip considering Natsu's destruction record at CHS." Sachiko said.
"Well, they must know that since Dragon Slayers get motion sick, he won't be able to break anything."
"Besides, what are the chances that we get to go on a cruise ship? It's a once-in-a-lifetime chance!" Kaito said.
"Well… Not exactly once-in-a-lifetime, but… Kaito is right. This kind of trip doesn't come very often." Shuichi said.
"Though it seems like Multicolor's been antsy since we got on the cruise." Hapi said, referring to Rainbow Dash.
Rainbow Dash herself was rapidly racing all over the stern, as if she was looking for something.
"Rainbow, what are you even doing?" Hope asked.
"Just checking it all out. You all have an eye for climactic battle settings." Rainbow said.
"We're not here for a fight. This just happened to be the site for the Equestria Universe auction." Jexi said.
"But just imagine, going head to head with a sea monster by the pool. Evil magic blowing up the diving board. Pshaw. Boat sinking, all screaming, then we save the day." Rainbow said. "Best…Spring Break…ever."
"Or…we do…none of that." Sunset said. "Some of us are still trying to get over the trauma of…you know…actually dying?"
"Oh come on. We usually end up getting in trouble anyway. I say we just run right into it at full speed." Rainbow said.
"...You do realize that if you just jinxed us, I am going to hurt you, right?" Mark asked.
"We couldn't even spend the day at Equestria Land without causing a scene." Kampan said.
"I think we all deserve at least one day without worry about some evil villain to fight." Kaminari said.
"He's right. After all, the point of this tour is to take a break from the constant action. Some of us are running on fumes at this point." Jurota said.
"And again, some of us actually died!" Eddy repeated.
"Besides, who would actually be stupid enough to attack a yacht full of people in broad daylight?" Penny said.
"I am going to take out that yacht with all those heroes on it in broad daylight." spoke a large yeti as he headed to the dock.
Storm King
Dark Rainbow, 3rd Sub-Leader
"Honestly, sir. I thought Grogar made it quite clear that you weren't supposed to do that." spoke a dark purple woman.
Tempest Shadow
Dark Rainbow, 2nd Sub-Leader
"This is my chance! My chance to finally come out on top in this organization. One where my second in command doesn't outrank me." Storm King said.
"Uh… You do know there is a reason I do, right?" Tempest asked. "I didn't ask to be assigned to the position."
"Well you did!" Storm King said. "The others have been laughing behind my back about it since we joined this little club!"
"That is not my doing, my king." Tempest repeated. "When Grogar realizes you went against orders, the only thing protecting you is the rule to not kill subordinates for any reason less than self-defense."
"Yeah, well guess what?" The Storm King said. "If Grogar didn't order us to do this, that means this isn't a Dark Rainbow mission. It's a Storm King mission! And who's in charge during Storm King missions?"
"...You, my king." Tempest answered.
"And who's the second-in-command?"
"I am."
"And what does the second-in-command do?"
"Whatever the one in charge commands them to do."
"Yep." Storm King said proudly. "And I order you not to leak any of this to Grogar or anyone in Dark Rainbow."
"Okay, just know I won't be helping you sink that boat." Tempest said.
"That's fine. I don't need you. For you see, I have…been mastering….the internet!" he said holding out a smartphone. "And Hench for Rent is on the scene."
"Hench for what?" Tempest asked.
"It's this app that lets you hire temporary henchmen to do your evil bidding. They should be here any moment." Storm King said before surfacing from the water was a sub shaped like a Magikarp.
Opening the top was Meowth with Wobbuffet. "Are you…the Storm King?" Meowth asked.
"That's me! The king who's a storm! A force of nature, you might say!" The Storm King said. "And you guys are…" he said, looking at the app. "The Missile Squad, right?"
"Yep, that's us. The squad that's named after a weapon. Definitely not anyone else. Uh…the bus boy will take your bags or powerful items." Meowth said.
"Wobbuffet!" Wobbuffet said.
"You touch my staff, and your dead." The Storm King said. "Alright, welcome aboard! So, your job! See that yacht over there?" the yeti pointed out. "You guys are gonna help me and my forces board it, destroy it, and take out all the heroes onboard!"
"Oh….yeah. No problem." Meowth said. "Well….hop on in." he said, patting the side of the sub.
"Well, thank you very much!" The Storm King said as he hopped in. "Don't wait up." he said to Tempest before he closed the lid, the sub sinking beneath the ocean.
Tempest simply let out a long suffering sigh. "It's times like these I wonder why I even bother with him…" she said to herself.
Back on the Luxe Deluxe, the group was already spread out all across the ship, enjoying each of its little distractions.
In the dining area, many sweets were set out for the attendee's enjoyment. This of course brought the attention of Pinkie, Stoj, Ochako and some of the girls.
"Oh! Honey walnut crisps! Candy coated cupcakes, banana sorbet delight…ah!" Pinkie said, looking over the desserts before looking at one spot in particular. "Ah! Triple chocolate berry blasted butter biscuit bundt cake? Yes! I've waited my whole life for this moment." she said before lifting the cover to see there was nothing there. "No!"
"Calm down, Pinkie. Look." Glimmer said as a chef was bringing out a fresh one. "Fresh from the oven." she said as the girl cheered up.
The chef smirked as she drew out a spatula.
"Not so fast!" Rainbow called out as she rammed into the chef, sending the cake flying into the face of a nearby patron.
"Noooo!" Pinkie called out.
The chef glared at the group before throwing them out.
"Wait…why'd she throw us out?" Glimmer asked.
"Accessories to a dessert violator." Stoj said as they all glared at Rainbow.
"You all saw it. She had a spatula. You're welcome." Rainbow said.
Later in the on-deck petting zoo, Fluttershy, Merrin, Naytal, and other animal lovers enjoyed being around these innocent fuzzy creatures.
"I… am…in critter heaven!" Merrin declared. "Luxe Deluxe, you are spoiling me!"
"Yes, this is rather enjoyable." Natyal added.
"Yes this is incredible. I mean…" Fluttershy said seeing a little goat trying to climb a tree. "A goat on a boat? Now I've seen everything."
A chittering was heard as they turned to a rabbit hutch.
"Aren't you just the softest thing?" Fluttershy said as she pet it as it chittered. "You have 42 grandchildren? Well, Mr. Bouncy, that is impressive. We'd love to meet them."
"Yes. Dreams coming true right now!" Merrin said.
"Not today!" a voice called out as Rainbow intercepted the rabbit before the three could pet them.
"What are you doing?" Naytal said.
"Sure, he's cute and harmless now. But have any of you ever seen what a magic infused evil rabbit can do?" Rainbow asked as the animals were looking unsettled by the behavior.
"Rainbow, please stop. You're scaring them." Merrin said.
"I'm only doing what is needed." Rainbow said.
"But…he just eats carrots." Fluttershy said.
"Yeah…evil carrots!" Rainbow called out as all the animals quickly ran and hid upon hearing that. "You are…." she said before seeing the glare on Merrin and Natyal's faces.
"Please leave…right now." Natyal said.
Rainbow was quick to leave as the girls just rubbed their heads to reduce the migraines the girl had just caused them.
"Okay….I can do this…I can….urp…" Natsu muttered as he tried to move down the side of the ship.
"Not easy to move around with seasickness plus motion sickness." Happy said.
"It is certainly not pleasant." Thorani added as she looked a bit pale.
"How are you seasick? I thought you were made of water." Happy asked.
"Fresh…water. Not used to the sea. Any chance that one girl could…" Thorani said.
"If you are referring to Wendy…" Carla pointed to said Dragon Slayer as she was over the edge and vomiting off the side.
"At least Natsu's doing better than Applejack." Happy said, seeing the country girl struggling to keep herself from throwing up as she walked down the side.
"Easy, AJ, easy…" Scarlet said as he supported her, leaning her against a window. "Why didn't we buy seasickness medicine?"
"Yeah…maybe that...ooh." Applejack said, holding back some vomit just as Rainbow came by.
"Hey AJ, Scarlet." Rainbow said as Applejack just murmured. "What's that? You can't talk?"
"No, she's seasick." Scarlet clarified.
"Hmmm, could be…or…she's possessed by an evil spirit!" Rainbow said as she started shaking her. "Leave her body at once, evil spirit!"
"Hey, hey!" Scarlet said, pushing Rainbow off of AJ. "What's your problem?! AJ, you okay?"
Applejack almost threw up before holding it down….for about 5 seconds before she vomited off the side of the ship with seagulls going right for it.
"Okay, yeah. She was seasick." Rainbow said sheepishly. "Because of evil magic?"
"Rainbow, for god's sake! Was the Trinity War not enough fun for you?!" Scarlet yelled, emphasizing the word fun with vitriol as he led AJ away. "Come on, they have to sell medicine on this boat…"
Applejack just glared at Rainbow as she wiped her mouth as she and Scarlet walked away.
"Wow…so glad we're not like them." Happy said.
"Uh…hold that thought." Thorani said as she threw up over the side.
On the main deck, as some people were trying to relax, Rainbow however was still looking for evil to fight.
"Has anyone seen any evil or bad magic?" she called out to the crowd.
Most were clueless until a group of boys pointed to some doors.
"Jackpot." Rainbow said, kicking the doors open to see a small audience with some of the group sitting there as she gasped as a figure walked on the main stage.
"Prepare yourselves!" they said.
"I was born ready for this." Rainbow said.
"Yes…prepare yourselves." the voice said as the smoke cleared to show Trixie. "For the great and powerful Trixie of the high seas! 2 shows daily."
"Okay…was not ready for that." Rainbow said.
Rainbow left Trixie's show, and then was soon confronted by Hope and a few of the others.
"Chaos at the Petting Zoo, getting Pinkie kicked out of the dessert buffet? Not even caring Applejack's seasick?" Hope asked. "Rainbow, I'm just gonna say it…you've gotten WAY too much into hero mode."
"This coming from the guy who switches gimmicks almost as quickly as he changes teammates?" Rainbow said.
"Rainbow, that's enough! Ever since Wano, a few people in the alliance have gotten a bit loopy, even moreso after the Trinity War, but you? You're acting like a total psycho!" David said.
"I know we get into more trouble than it's worth on a regular basis, but even you have to know that we don't go looking for it just to ensure it happens." Hope said. "Don't you even remember that were taking time off to enjoy the auction?"
"I know, I know…but counterpoint…we end up attracting evil forces wherever we go. So may as well get ready to face them now than later." Rainbow said.
"Rainbow, there are no evil forces here!" Jexi said. "Look…you need to take a chill pill. Everyone else is enjoying themselves and so should you…and NOT be looking for trouble. You get me?"
"Yeah…yeah I get you." Rainbow said.
"Oh thank White, I knew Jexi would be the one to be your voice of reason." Hope said.
"Yeah…plus you always sucked at this pep talk stuff. Okay, see ya." Rainbow said as she ran off.
"Wow." Ace said.
"Yeah…saw that one coming." Jexi sighed. "Eh…not like she can cause that much damage anyway."
"Oh…what's all the commotion about?" Rarity asked as she approached.
"And where the heck were you?" Jexi asked.
"Having a good ol' conversation with old Ragamuffin she was." said a deck hand carrying her bags.
"What were you guys talking about?" Hope asked.
"I will see you later, Rar-i-y. Have fun with all the saving and music making and whatnot." Ragamuffin said as he left.
"Aw…it's like he fell out of an english romance novel." Rarity said.
"This is going to be over before the day ends." Mina said.
"So… do you guys think we should keep an eye on Rainbow so she doesn't mess up the whole cruise?" Hagakure asked.
"Hagakure, that shouldn't be your concern. None of this should be the other teams concerns right now." Aoyama said.
"For once, Aoyama is right. This is Rainbow's matter, after all." Sero said.
"Yeah. Besides, knowing her, she'll give up on this crime fighting fantasy once the day is over with." Jexi said.
It was later in the day, around evening as everyone gathered on deck for a show by the Rain-booms. All the while the sub had just reached the side of the ship.
"There….took all day…but we made it." James said as the trio had been pedalling since the dock to reach the yacht.
"The Luxe Deluxe as you requested, Mr. Storm King." Jessie said.
"Finally! We could've gotten here faster in a motor-powered sub, but you three idiots had to pull for the old-fashioned way. Have you always operated on pedal-power?" Storm King asked
"No, but our budget's tight this month." Meowth explained. "Plus it's good exercise and energy efficient, which is a thing these days."
"Whatever, I don't care." Storm King waved off. "Alright, first thing's first: we gotta make a intimidating entrance. And for that, we gotta take out the ship's power. Luckily, I got just the tool for the job." he said, holding his staff. "Can you get me to the top without anyone seeing us?"
"I mean, we're just below eyeline, but…" Meowth said as the three opened the top as they hoisted him up totem style.
"Perfect." Storm King grinned as he raised his staff above his head. "Time to start this party with a storm!" he cackled.
While the Storm King prepared to strike, everyone was still setting up for the concert show at the Luxe Deluxes pool party. During the set up, Twilight was informed about Rainbow's earlier actions throughout the entire cruise thus far.
"I thought the others were lacking enthusiasm. I can't believe Rainbow's been leaning too much into the rush from our adventures that she's now thinking like this." Twilight said.
"Well, maybe it's her way of coping with what happened during…that event." Noel suggested. "It was hard on all of us, and having a friend die during it would be even harder. Maybe she's trying to distract herself from dwelling on it?"
"Nah, nah, nah. The Trinity War may have been the tipping point, but Rainbow was pretty much like this LONG before then." David said.
"But even you can't deny that things have felt…different since that war." Jexi said.
"Yeah. I know that much. Genis even picked up a stun blaster when we were at the Future Universe auction site." Lloyd said.
"But isn't Genis a mage? What would he need that for?" Trish asked.
"Protection more than likely. A lot of those daemons had strong magic resistance. Now that I think of it, Dan's also been having Drago ride on his shoulders again like he used to." Jexi said. "Not to mention Sunset's lost connection with the Yo-kai."
"So maybe Noel's right." 9S said. "Rainbow is just working through the aftereffects of the war in her own way."
"I'm a little surprised your members aren't acting out, Hope. I mean…two of them actually died during that war." Jexi said.
"Well, Entrapta's more excited about remembering what happened after she died." Hope explained. "And Hagakure…Well, it's between her and the Heights Alliance. If she comes to me about it, she'll do it when she's ready. Besides, Rainbow did say I'm not good with pep talks. It was probably her mouth talking before her brain, but…"
"Doesn't mean you can't try. That goes for all of us." Mark spoke up. "I'm gonna be honest, the war was a wake-up call. There are beings out there that, no matter how strong we get…we're just not going to be able to beat ourselves."
"Well, duh. That's what our other allies are for." David said. "To back us up when we get…a little too big for our britches, for lack of a better term."
"David, you make a good point, but I'm not just talking about that." Mark said. "We had multiple armies backing us up in Devaloka, and it almost still wasn't enough. We won because of Hartwin's sacrifice, and…we're not always going to have something like that."
"What are you saying?"
"I'm saying…well, maybe we should consider getting more involved in building things up." Mark suggested. "I mean, Conner's the strongest criminal in the Underworld, Theo leads one of the largest adventure guilds in the Adventure Universe, Team Ginhana Sky's always expanding its roster…but what do they actually do? What do any of us actually do besides exploring and reacting to threats?"
"Um….I'm gonna say welcoming new recruits from various regions?" Pit said.
"Besides, what do you mean 'just reacting'? Are you saying we're not doing enough already?" David asked.
"Heck no, saving the multiverse multiple times is no small thing." Mark said. "I just…want to make sure what happened with the election can't happen again."
"Oh Mark….well…we will make sure that what happened then won't. I won't let that war happen again, never." Jexi said.
"I second that." David agreed. "Once was more than enough."
"And I can tell you all, that there is nothing in this world that can stop us!" Jexi said before the power suddenly went out. "Except maybe that."
"...Please tell me that was just a power flux." Emo said. "Because if Rainbow was actually right about there being evil magic, then I'm a monkey's uncle."
"Uh…yeah…not a power flux. The engine has completely stopped." Jeremie said.
"...Anybody got a banana?" Emo asked.
"Aw yeah! Its going down!" Rainbow called out before the people onboard started screaming and panicking. "No. I meant evil, not the ship! The ship is not going down! Stop screaming!" she said.
"Very poor choice of words." Regal said.
