May 13, Using the name of a song, (This is what your story is called) write a story about that title! These prompts are from AmberRising's Forum, under the may prompts section...
I do not own any of the characters...Except for Animh. He's all mine. I am planing for all the stories in the may prompts to follow the same Universe, which I will be making, most of them will be about Edmund and or Animh, but I may want to do a nother character once in a while.
Amazing Grace!
Edmund sat on the railing of the balcony, over looking the sea. The sounds of laughing and talking came from behind him. He did not feel like joining in, as he thought about all that had happened the last few days.
He had betrayed his siblings, and a people he was in charge of, for a temporary delight. For Turkish Delight. He had taken one look at the witch, and even as a twinge of discomfort went though him, he ignored it, falling for the temptation the white witch offered him. He learned soon after, just how wrong he had been to fall for her, when she held him in the freezing dungeon.
But then, after what felt like years, he was rescued by his people, and brought to Him. The great Lion, Aslan. He had stood before the Lion, and felt His love pour over him, Aslan was killed in his place, and while it made him overwhelmingly sad, it also filled him with joy, and peace. He had been wandering, looking for someone to see him, to love him as he was. He had been blind to the love that his family had for him, the love that He had for him. Aslan had found him, and opened his eyes.
Amazing Grace how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now Im found,
was blind, but now I see.
As fifteen year old Edmund sat on the ground out side a cell under their castle, he watched the prisoner. A boy, a Calorman, his own age, sat in the cell, head bent, hands twisting the fabric on his worn shirt. "Why did you attempt to kill my brother, High King Peter?" the other boy looked up at the Just King's softly worded question.
"I'm a servant in the Tisroc's, may he live forever, home. My father was sick, on his death bed, we did not have any money for a doctor. The Tisroc, may he live forever, sent for me, said he noticed that I was good with sneaking. He said he would help my father if I killed your High King." He looked up at Edmund, "I was just trying to save my Father." looking down his shoulders shuddered, "Now he will be killed. He may have been killed just after I left, the Tisroc…" Looking sick he looked up at Edmund again, "I do not wish him to live forever. His servants live in fear of him, and he is willing to kill the King of another country, just to be able to weaken their defenses. I know that the stories of your Great Lion are true, and I want to serve Him"
Edmund sat looking at the boy in silence for a moment, then took a breath, "I too fear my Lord, Aslan, the Great Lion, but it is not the kind of fear you are talk about when you speak of the Tisroc. I fear him because he is powerful, it is more like Utmost Respect, where you would not dare go against him, because of what he is to you. But He has also taken my fear away, the fear of what is to come. When I first felt His Grace it was the most precious thing. I would give up all that I have in order to keep it if I needed to." Standing the Just King stood, sticking his hand into the cell, "Aslan has put no bounds on who he lets serve him. But you must leave your old master, and live for Him alone." As the Calorman gripped Edmund's arm, and met his eyes, Edmund smiled,
"I would like to know your name…"
"Anmih"
The Just King smiled, "Welcome to Aslan's Family, friend Anmih."
Twas Grace that taught my heart to fear,
and Grace my fears relieved;
how precious did that grace appear
the hour I first believed!
Edmund and Anmih held their breath as the foot steps faded into silence. They were hiding in a wagon that was leaving Tashban, sneaking out from the city in the hopes that the prison keepers would not notice they were missing till later. It was just a good thing that no one knew who they were, or they would be in even more danger. The wagon rattled as it started moving, and Edmund felt his head jostle on the hard wood. They had been sent to search for the small group that was supposedly planing to kill the Kings and Queens of Narnia. But they were caught by the group, and as the leader had a high position in the city, they were taken to the prison. After a painful beating, they were thrown into the cell, and left alone in the dark. After they were able to escape, a feat that they both said was only because of Aslan, they were able to find a Calorman farmer willing to hide them in exchange for a bag of money.
Soon after they had left the city, the wagon stopped, and the two young men jumped off the wagon, wincing at the pain from their beating, the farmer looked at them closely, "You be careful now, this place is dangerous to be wandering around in."
Anmih nodded his head, "Thank you sir. But we shall be fine." He set off across the desert land, Edmund following him.
They walked through the hot sun, throats dry and parched, for hours before Edmund stumbled. Anmih reached out steadying him, but he was stumbling himself soon. As he looked up, Anmih saw a golden Lion, and he jostled Edmund, "Look my friend. Our giver of Grace has come." The Just King looked up through sweat soaked hair,
"Aslan." his voice was horse, and painful, but all he knew was the joy at seeing the Lion. Aslan nodded his head at them, then turned, looking back at them as he walked. The Just King, and his dear friend followed Him. As the Lion led them, Anmih felt the air cooling, and saw a green oasis, with a pond of fresh clear water. As the two of them sank by the water, splashing it onto them selves, Aslan watched them with love, disappearing as they fell into a restorative sleep, never noticing the injuries from the beating had been healed.
Through many dangers, toils, and snares
I have already come:
'tis grace has brought me safe thus far,
and grace will lead me home
Edmund stood on the train station, watching the train hurtle towards them. It seemed like long minuets, but in reality it was only seconds. He felt peace in his heart as he knew what was about to happen, and he closed his eyes, as a millisecond later he felt a burst of pain, then nothing.
He lay still, taking in the warm sun, and the fresh smell of apples, as he enjoyed the feeling of perfect wholeness. No pain anywhere, not even in his arm where it had been broken on earth and never healed properly. Opening his eyes, he saw Peter, and Lucy sitting up, looking around in awe, Lucy laughed,
"After being here a day, I can not see how I will ever tire of this!" She spun, lifting her face to the sky, soaking in the light that was better then the sun. Suddenly there was a whoop, and Edmund turned to see Anmih running towards them. It had been too long since he had last seen his good friend and Edmund ran up to him, clapping him on the back, before gripping his arm tight in a greeting. He let go as Lucy crashed into them, gripping them both tight, and laughing in delight. Edmund fell to the ground, laughing as well, as he watched the light turn a brilliant hue of colors that spread across the sky.
Yes, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
and mortal life shall cease:
I shall possess, within the veil,
a life of joy and peace.
