HI GUYS!

YES, I'M STILL ALIVE.

I'M TRYING TO BALANCE LIFE AND GET BACK TO SOME OF MY STORIES.

HERE'S ANOTHER MALE BYLETH/EDELGARD ONESHOT TO HOLD YOU OVER UNTIL THEN.

READ AND ENJOY (A REVIEW OR COMMENT WOULDN'T HURT EITHER)

Edelgard quietly stifled another yawn. She hoped that the leader of their two man patrol unit wouldn't have noticed, but she should have known better.

The man at the helm, the infamous Professor Byleth glanced back at his pupil for just a moment to share his concern. His soft whispers were evidence emough of the stealthy nature of their nocturnal mission.

"Edelgard, you may return to your room early if you wish. I can handle the rest of the patrol on my own."

The Imperial princess discarded the suggestion with a shake of the head.

"It's fine Professor. You know that we all agreed to play our part because of last month's events. I will not falter."

The 'events' aforementioned were all attributed to the recent actions of the villanous 'Death Knight'.

The disappearance of some of the townsfolk not to mention Flayn's abduction had left Garreg Mach and the nearby town feeling vulnerable and a bit...anxious.

It was beyond obvious that the Church's promise of divine protection from the 'Goddess herself' would not be enough to calm the people.

The Archbishop Rhea then decided that a more action based response would be appropriate.

Most of the Knights of Seiros were divided into teams that actively patrolled the town twenty-four hours a day, well respected mercenary parties were also hired and assigned to various Knight commanders.

The plan left the monastery itself to the protection of some of the Academy's most prominent and powerful figures found within the church or school.

Each house leader had also volunteered to be 'backup' members for Garreg Mach's patrol team if their help was ever deemed necessary.

The heir to Adrestia's throne had taken extra steps to ensure that she would only be available on the same nights that Byleth was scheduled for patrol.

Her reasons were simple and logical...well logical to her at least.

She had grown quite fond of the socially awkward warrior over the past few months. He was an amazing instructor, talented tactician and a great listener.

Edelgard valued him.

Perhaps more than she was ready to admit to out loud.

Patrolling the monastery alone would be a great opportunity for her to observe the enigma known as the Ashen Demon, to learn more about him.

She also wished to protect him

A laugh echoed within the halls of her mind. The idea did seem rather strange.

Byleth was obviously levels above her in strength and talent. The proper thrashing he had handed to the Death Knight had been proper proof of that. Hubert's detailed synopsis of their encounter painted a rather interesting picture.

"He fought like a Mother hen desperate to protect her newborn chicks. I'm sure your pawn will not forget how soundly he was defeated."

It did put a smile on her face knowing that Byleth cared for the entirety of the Black Eagle house. They were all she had left. The closest thing to a real family.

Another thought crossed Edelgard's mind as they stopped at a dark lonely intersection. Byleth's attention seemed solely focused on the paths ahead of them.

Would Byleth Eisner choose her...choose to stand by her side when the time came ?

She knew that with the Sword of the Creator at his side, Byleth was one of the few people on the continent that could change the outcome of a war with his raw power.

Adestria needed him.

She needed him.

But only he could say where his ultimate allegiances lie...

In the blink of an eye Byleth's body language changed, Edelgard already had a hand on the Steel Axe strapped to her back.

"What is it?"

The Ashen Demon narrowed his eyes while facing a certain alleyway.

"I'm sure I just saw someone...Let's go!"

Edelgard's mind spent no little time running through a mental list of possibilites.

Adrestia's spies had been given strict orders to lay low for a few weeks until things relaxed. She didn't expect any of her soldiers to disobey the decree of the Flame Emperor.

She had taken time to warn her treacherous Uncle as well but he always had his own conceited way of doing things, if he lost an agent or two due to his or their incompetence it would not be her fault.

Byleth's one word order completely derailed her train of thought.

"Halt!"

They stopped at the corner of a large building and a descending staircase.

"Have we lost them?"

"No they went down the stairs."

"Then we should give chase!"

"There is no cover going this way, they will surely notice us...let's go through here!"

' Here' was a slender passage between two of the monastery's main buildings. During the day, only the cats were known to use it as a path to and fro.

Edelgard perched an eyebrow.

"Will...we fit?"

"If we are careful."

Byleth was once again right.

Only Dimitri's servant Dedue or the muscled behemoth from the Golden Deer house would have much trouble fitting in the passage. The pair of Profesor and pupil carefully and steathily made their way to the other side of the pathway, doing their best impressions of a sideway 'crab walk'.

Edelgard opened her mouth to pose a query but Byleth quickly silenced her, his right hand shot out behind him to hold her in place as he observed what was ahead.

"Shhhhhhh!"

There was a hooded man standing under one of the monastery's fruit trees. It was obvious he was waiting for somone.

Byleth's whisper was barely audible.

"Let's not make our move till we know who he's meeting."

Edelgard didn't respond.

Not because she understood or agreed.

Oh no...

The reason was far more simple than that or was it rather complex?

Byleth's hand was firmly planted...

on her left breast.

A bright patch of red flooded the future Emperor's face as she watched her Professor's hand gently but firmly hold her breast in place.

Was...he doing this on purpose ?

No...

Byleth never showed interest in the opposite sex despite Manuela's many suggestive invitations and she doubted he would try something like this during a mission, he was far too much of a professional for that.

A small twitch of annyorance flashed across Edelgard's face.

Did he really not notice?

The Imperial Princess knew very well that she was not as endowed as Dorothea, Hilda or Mercedes but still she believed that she had been blessed with her own gifts!

Her traitorous perverse mind then did the unthinkable.

It provided...a suggestion.

"Didn't one of my dreams start like this? He was so gentle there too.."

And with that an avalance of thoughts sprung to the forefront of Edelgard's mind.

How many nights had she fantasized of him, carefully, methodically running his fingers all over her body?

Feeling and groping as he pleased or at her request?

Her core temperature was rising. Her body was reacting to his touch.

She needed to get away.

Perhaps she could just shift her weight and...

Her right foot came down on a rather noisy pile of gravel.

*CRUNCH*

Byleth's movement was quick.

Quicker than she could follow.

His hand shot back futher to hold in her place, the hooded man looked around for the source of the sound but quickly gave up.

Byleth provided further instruction.

"We have to stay still, any sudden movement or sound could expose us!"

Edelgard barely offered a response.

"Mhmm."

The situation had somehow gotten worse.

Byleth's muscular arm was now fully pressed across her chest, while his hand now rested on her right breast, his forearm was pushing against her left one.

The blush that decorated Edelgard's face was beginning to crawl down her neck.

Her mind had begun to conjure a brand new terrible yet lovely idea.

She was no longer fantasizing about a 'gentle' Byleth.

A rougher more dominant Byleth would have her pressed against a wall just like this but for far more delicious reasons.

Adrestia's heir to the throne inhaled slowly.

Despite her lack of experience concerning the matters of the bedroom, she was well aware of what her body was telling her.

The hardening of her 'twin peaks'.

The heat in her face and belly.

And...the slight dampness she could feel in her undergarments.

She was now unbelievably relieved that Byleth was not noticing her plight. It would have been beyond embarrassing.

Edelgard took a few more shallow breaths.

Perhaps she could occupy her mind with something else?!

Anything that would distract her from the current situation.

Quick!

Think of something annoying, funny or gross!

Lindhardt snoring in class!

Caspar eating with his mouth open!

Ferdinand challenging her to another duel!

Petra using a leister instead of a rod at the school's fishing contest!

Bernadetta fainting after Hubert suggesting that they could go to the school ball together.

Dorothea flirting with the barkeep to get free liquor!

The Black Eagles!

...Byleth...

Byleth making love to-

No!

Edelgard mentally groaned.

It was no use.

She wasn't going to escape that easily. The Professor would wait all night if he needed to and she would just have to suffer in silence...

Byleth removed his arm with a sigh.

"Let's go Edelgard."

What?

Edelgard blinked a few times.

"What happened?"

Byleth perched an eyebrow.

"You weren't looking?"

Thankfully the Imperial Princess had a talent for thinking on her feet.

"I was keeping an eye on the other end of the pathway...just in case the, spy had backup."

Byleth nodded.

"Good idea. Although our little spy wasn't a spy at all."

"What do you mean?"

"It was Sylvain wearing the cloak. He came all the way out here to meet a young lady that works in the kitchen."

"For what?"

"Not sure, I only know that their conversation ended with him trying to kiss her and the young lady in question responding with a slap to his face."

Edelgard smirked.

"He probably deserved it."

"Perhaps...we should go. I've had you out here for too long and we do have class in the morning."

"Aren't you going to find Sylvain and reprimand him for sneaking around during a curfew?"

Byleth smiled.

"No. I'll do something worse."

Edelgard titled her head in curiousity as her teacher continued.

"I'm gonna report him to someone else."

Edelgard thanked Byleth once more for escorting her back to the dorm, she posed a question to the former mercenary as she opened her door.

"Will you being going to bed as well Professor?"

"No, I think I'll give the campus one last sweep before retiring for the night."

"I see, please remain safe. Don't be afraid to come wake me if you're in need of assistance."

"Thank you but I should be able to handle things. Good Night Edelgard."

"Good night My Teacher."

"Edelgard?"

"Yes?"

"You should really take your chest armor in to a leatherworker tomorrow. I felt two weird bumps on it while we were in that alley. It could be cracking."

The heir to Adrestia's throne was in utter disbelief.

She had no idea of what to think, do or say. She hoped she would be able to complete the night without any more embarrassing situations but fate never did treat her so kindly.

Byleth wasn't sure how to identify the blank expression that adorned his student's face.

"Edelgard?"

She had to answer him, didn't she?

In a flash Edelgard's traitorous mind prepared a concoction of pure courage, seductive playfulfulness and brutal honesty.

Ten words. That's all it took.

"I wasn't wearing chest armor. Maybe you felt something else?"

*CLICK*

Byleth stared wide eyed at Edelgard's now closed room door.

What was that suppposed to mean?

During the next twenty-four hours, three different sets of realizations sparked across the minds of different people on Garreg Mach's campus.

One.

Byleth realized what those two bumps really were after getting impromptu Biology lessons from the three people he trusted the most outisde of Edelgard. Sothis, his father and...the Gatekeeper.

Two.

Sylvain realized he was in trouble when a frowning Seteth arrived in the Blue Lions classroom requesting to speak with him...in private.

Three.

By some strange coincidence both Byleth and Edelgard simultaneously realized that for the entire period of time that Byleth had held his hand and arm against Edelgard's chest...her left hand had been caressing the inside of his right thigh.
