The first time people saw the Griffin wandering around UA most didn't even notice that it wasn't alone. They were too distracted by the mythical shift, calling friends and classmates over to peer out the window as the winged beast wandered happily around the campus.
Ever since the dorms had been established it wasn't too weird to see someone in their shift form. Some spent as much time as possible in their shift form, claiming it was more relaxing.
Ochako Uraraka, wasn't one of those people but she wasn't in the party that never used their shifted forms. In fact the only people she hadn't seen in shifts before were Bakugo and Miroriya who avoided it like the plague.
Bakugo she understood, he didn't seem particularly close to any of them, and even Kaminari and Kirishima hadn't seen the spiky haired blonde take advantage of whatever his animal form was.
But it kind of worried her that Midoriya had never seemed comfortable enough around them to even seem to consider the suggestion.
But now, looking out the window as a massive Griffin waltzed unbothered away from the building, she wondered if she should.

A lot of questions about the Griffin were heard around the school the next day. And everyone was coming to the same conclusion.
That had to be All Might right?
Even acknowledging the hero had retired, everyone could assume the former number one was powerful enough to have a mythical shift.
I mean who else could it be right?
Todoroki was having a field day with the theories on who could it be and seemed very disappointed that no one wanted to share any idea past "I mean, it's gotta be All Might."
Finally, after the half white half redhead had been shot down once again for his proposed theories, Ochako had had enough.
"Why don't we just ask Deku?" She offered, "he would know right? He's like- All Might's biggest superfan, and they do hang out a lot."
All attention snapped to the greenette. "Oh…"
"Well come on man!" Kirishima practically jumped out of his seat with excitement as he leaned forward. "You have to know what All Might's shift is."
"Well- I do it's just-" Midoariya leaned back from all the eyes on him. Looking like he wanted to disappear.
"I believe Midoriya is uncomfortable with conversations about shift forms." Iida chimed in, Midoriya shot the class rep a thankful look. "Therefore we should stop this line of questioning at once."
Before anyone could object or push the door opened and their teacher looked around, glaring as per usual.
"I thought you had improved on this, class has started. So sit down and shut up." The underground hero went to his desk and the questions were thoroughly cut off.

The next time people saw the griffin was when they finally noticed his companion. Slightly obscured by the wings of the half lion-half bird was a small ball of green fur.
The bunny, because it was so small you could hardly call it a rabbit, was hopping in pace with the griffins font claws. When someone pointed it out Uraraka almost missed the small creature due to it blending in with the grass.
"Oh my gosh." Mina put a hand to her mouth. "So cuuuute."
"Is that Midoriya?" Yaoyorozu asked, looking at the bunny.
"Let's see!" Mina asked.
"Midoriya! All Might!" She waved aggressively at the two.
The bunny hopped a little out of the griffin's shadow, standing on his front paws and waving aggressively back.
"EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" Mina and Uraraka nearly collapsed. That was too cute. The griffin looked at them and waved a wing awkwardly. As awkward as it could convey.
The bunny tilted its head at their reaction before turning to the griffin. A silent conversation passed between the two. Then the griffin bent its scally front legs and flattened its wings, allowing the rabbit to hop the smaller distance from the ground and scramble up onto the creature's back.
Now sitting between the shoulder blades, and slightly obscured by the mane of his companion, the rabbit waved as the griffin began walking away.
It began making its way back towards the dorms.
"Why would Midoriya avoid showing off his shift?" Uraraka wondered aloud, the two shifters had disappeared. "It's so cute."
"Maybe he's embarrassed?" Yaoyorozu offered with a knowing smile.
Uraraka wondered what that look was for.

Now whenever class 1-A saw the bunny and griffin on the campus they would loudly call out to the two. Todoroki was bummed that his theory had been disproven but didn't let that stop him from waving at them.
The griffin would often hike up its wings and try to hide slightly whenever anyone got too enthusiastic but the rabbit would bound forward and soak up the attention.
But Midoriya still refused to talk about his shift form or join any of them when they were spending spare time relaxing.
"I just don't really like shifting around a lot of people. I don't wanna get stepped on." Was the most he ever told them, and that was after the group being more than a little pushy about the subject.
All Might also mostly avoided the topic but was more open with his answers on why he had never shown his shift before. "For a long time I was recommended against showing off my shift form. But now that I'm retired it doesn't really matter, so why not?"
They weren't quite sure why he would be advised against showing off what most would consider another tally in the awesome category for the hero. But maybe it was for recognizability? So that he could have a bit of peace.

Uraraka had sent a text to Midoriya informing him of their impromptu shift day, then put her phone down and shrunk down to her own shift form. The gerbil shifter shook out her brown fur before climbing up the side of Iida's mane.
The horse shifter flicked an ear at her as she tugged on the hair but didn't shake her off. Which was a good thing since the fall from this height might have killed her.
After seeming to check if she wasn't about to topple the boy knelt and layed down, setting his long legs into the space where one might put their feet when lying on the couch. Tsu hopped onto said couch and sat tangentially close to Todoroki, who had become comfortable enough around them to shift only recently.
The half rust-half white cat let his tail hang over the side of the couch, swaying it slightly.
"I believe that's everything." Yaoyorozu put the remote down from where she had been setting up the movie and finally changing into her own shift, the raccoon hopping up and sitting on Todoroki's other side.
About 5 minutes into the movie Todoroki perked up, through the window they caught a glimpse of large golden wings and a black mane. The door opened a moment later and Midoriya walked in, waving goodbye to the retreating All Might.
"Oh, I got your text." He rubbed his head. "Sorry I'm a little shifted out for the day, I think I'll just- I'll just go."
He acted like it was wrong for him to be around if he wasn't shifted.
Several different species' sounds made the greenette pause.
You can still stay even if you don't wanna shift Deku.
There is no reason for you not to join
Come on, sit and watch the movie.
Here, we'll make room on the couch!
Sit down you self degrading moron. Ribbit.
The fact Tsu still said ribbit even when speaking through a mental link made Izuku smile and chuckle.
"If your sure-"
YES!
Izuky managed to not step on Iida's legs as he sat on the couch and Tsu promptly jumped up to sit on his head. Where Uraraka joined her after a moment.
Yaoyorozu gestured a paw to the snacks on the table.
"Thanks," he said. Todoroki waited until he took a sip to ask.
How was hanging out with your dad?
Todoroki specifically said it to Izuku so none of them knew why he suddenly spit his drink on the table and coughed, forcing Tsu to jump off and Uraraka to grab his hair to avoid falling.
"Stop saying that!" Izuku hissed at the cat shifter, who had a very smug look that only a cat could make.
What did he say?
Was asked by several of the shifters, as Tsu took her place next to Uraraka again.
"Nothing! He said nothing." Izuku leveled a glare at the cat.
I was just asking if he and All Might had a good walk.
Liar.
They knew him too well, as well as Izuku would only react so strongly to certain jabs.
Tell me later?
Yaoyorozu posed the question to Todoroki who nodded.
"What are you two talking about? Stop. Stop doing it." Izuku practically begged.
Movie!
Iida snorted, drawing all of their attention back to the screen.

While most of the time Midroyia and All Might only were seen in their shift forms while taking walks around the campus, today they were both headed to the same place.
So the door to classroom 1-A opened and a griffin poked his head in. The bunny hopped off his shoulders and landed on the teachers desk.
Aizawa looked at the green fluff and glared. "Off."
It hopped off.
And mid-air turned into All Might.
There was silence for a second, everyone just staring at the skeletal like man.
"What?"
The griffin too looked confused and tilted its head.
"YOU-" Todoroki shouted before collapsing.
The griffin made a half strangled roar in shock. And in a flurry of feathers and fur was replaced with a green haired teenager.
"Are you okay!" He ran over to the boy and tried to help him up.
"Wow. Swerve." Dark Shadow offered before Tokoyami put a hand over its mouth.
"Is he alright?" All Might asked, looking over Midoriya's shoulder.
Abruptly the half red-half white haired boy shit to his feet with unnatural speed. "Explain!"
"Yeah- I'm a little thrown too." Tsu admitted. "Why didn't you say you were the griffin shifter?"
Midoriya looked confused again, "What do you mean? You guys saw, you've been waving at me for the last month!"
"We thought he was the griffin shifter!" Uraraka pointed at All Might.
The blonde looked shocked, "What really?"
"I mean, yeah!" Kirishima shouted. "It makes sense right, number one hero has a mythical shift? Makes sense to me. Endeavor wishes he could."
"I'm so rubbing this in his face." Todoroki suddenly decided. "He hates you, and now you have a cooler shift than him."
"Why does he hate me?" Mirodriya looked confused, "We've met like once."
"He doesn't like that you're emotionally stable and his favorite." He jerked his thumb at All Might. "And now you have a cooler shift form. I'm shoving this information so far down his throat he chokes on it hopefully."
While Todoroki planned metaphorical patricide, Toshinori leaned over to Aizawa, "You okay with this happening now?"
He shrugged. "It's eating into your lesson, not mine. Plus I actually find this mildly amusing. Not to mention I just won a bet."
"What bet?" All Might asked but the underground euro waved him off.
"Wait." Kaminari pointed at Yaoyorozu and Iida. "You look smug and you look unsurprised. Did you know?"
"It was kind of obvious." The heiress shrugged.
"I had a fifty-fifty guess." Iida explained.
"How did you know if everyone else didn't?" Midoriya asked the two.
"Well for one it was how you acted when asked about your shifts." The black haired teen began to count on her fingers. "You were awkward about it while All Might was just vague because he doesn't know how to give a straight answer to 'What's 2 + 2.' Second, you always looked more embarrassed or shy when we waved, he was more openly excited. Third, your eyes are the same color in your shift."
All Might had made an offended sound at being called out on his inability to answer a question like a normal person. But he did nod at the other points.
"Wait, your eyes stay the same?" Uraraka asked.
All Might shifted easily and hopped up onto Aizawa's desk again, causing the man to grumble. Sure enough the rabbit had bright blue eyes.
"I won't shift in here because there isn't room but yeah, my eyes are still green." Midoriya added.
"Shall we make our way to the gym now?" All Might asked, having shifted back as soon as the eye color was confirmed.
