The Broken Road
Chapter 1
It started off as any ordinary summer. She had her clothing line Clothes over bros. Which she loved. It gave her meaning and purpose. It afforded her this life of upscale luxury and comfort. She was born and raised in the high society world of North Carolina.
The pride and joy of her parents lives. Ted and Victoria Davis big names in the business world themselves.
Seeing their daughter carve out a name and career for herself filled them with alot of pride.
"We couldn't be happier to have you home Brookie." Victoria said.
"We've missed you." Ted said. Joining his wife and daughter. In there upscale living room.
"New York and LA served their purpose career wise."
"I should be in Tree Hill. I belong here. Plus with so much closing down. It'll be good to have my store running again." Brooke replied.
"We think so too. We can have family dinners again like when you grew up. Country club on the weekend." Ted said.
"And quality time together as mother and daughter." Victoria added in.
"Plus I have guys for you to meet. From proper families."
"The kind of men that can give you the life you're dad gave me." Victoria explained.
"I've barely moved into my new place can we hold off on set ups for awhile?" Brooke asked.
"I guess. But we can't waste too much time."
"We want grandchildren." Victoria insisted.
Brooke glared at her mother. "I'm 30. I have at least 5 years before i need to start freaking out about that. Which I'm not even sure is an issue."
"I haven't met anyone worthy or deserving enough to have a child with so i'm not talking about it until there is." Brooke replied.
...
On the other side of town
"They can't close down you're cafe. Its a staple in town. I grew up here. And more importantly. Its a 17 year old business you created and worked for on you're own." Lucas proclaimed.
"Its how town is for months now. Karen's is a old business. You know how those business types can be. They focus on the bigger picture not the community ties."
"I'll be okay. You my boy. Have the writing world to take over."
"I will not have you worrying about me." Karen said.
"I wrote two novels. My editor is all over me about writing a third one. But I don't have the drive inspiration or care to think about this job. You need me now." Lucas said.
"What i need is for you to keep building you're life."
"I'll be okay. Go be young and handsome. There is still a nightlife here. You came back for the summer for me after that phone call."
"But once the summer ends. You figure out what is next for you." Karen insisted.
"I'm going to go explore town. Its been way too long. I should get more familiar with it." Lucas replied.
As he headed out the door.
...
Brooke drove around taking in the sights of smells of Tree Hill.
Stopping at a nearby park. Wanting to take in the sun. The sounds of community the food truck.
She grabbed the first empty bench she could find.
Wearing a yellow sundress and black sandals. With a big hat on her head.
"Are you hiding out or just taking a day off?" Lucas asked.
Brooke looked up and smiled shyly.
"Lucas Scott. Its been a really long time." Brooke said.
"10 years. Time flys being running a successful clothing line I imagine. I knew when you left town after graduation. You were going to become bigger then this place." Lucas replied.
"I'm not the only one. You wrote a book. Then a second. I'm not a reader so you are clearly more talented then you realize."
"You never really left Tree Hilll. Outside of work right?" Brooke questioned.
"Yeah. This town is too huge a part of me to ever really leave."
"Everyone's talking about you being being back in town." Lucas said.
"I figured i wouldn't be missed by anyone. Especially you." Brooke said.
"You've been very missed especially by me." Lucas replied.
