Max and I kissed for a few seconds before she pulled away from me. So, she was gay or at least bisexual. I couldn't say that I didn't like the kiss.
"Well that was unexpected." I declared with a smile.
"Zoey, I don't know what I was thinking." She retorted. Did that mean that she didn't like it? Why was she acting so weird? "I'm such an idiot."
"Max, it's okay." I assured her. Did she think that I didn't like it? I decided to let her know. "I liked it."
"We can't do this now. We have to wait till after I'm 18." She explained. Okay, now she was acting really neurotic for some reason. Why was she acting like kissing me was the biggest mistake that she ever made? I was starting to think that I should be offended, but I realized that I probably shouldn't because she was already freaking out enough.
"Why?" I asked. I was trying to understand the best I could, but I didn't. "Why can't we just do this now?"
"Because if I do anything that my parents don't approve of, I lose my inheritance." She answered. Did she have any proof that her parents wouldn't approve of her dating me? Had she discussed things like gay rights with her? They didn't seem like particularly bad people. "I can't let everything I've worked so hard to prevent happen because I can't keep my feelings under control. I can't be more than friends with you now. As much as I want to, I just can't."
I sighed. I didn't understood it, but it would probably be best to just listen to her. I wished that she was more willing to be brave, but I didn't know how much money was at stake for her. I couldn't say that I wouldn't do the same thing if the roles were reversed.
"Fine, I can wait till you're ready to be more than friends." I replied. I didn't want to sound too angry, even though I kind of was. "I'm just warning you that when you're ready, I might not be. You know we could always try to hide it."
"I don't wanna risk that, so the best way to handle this is to not do anything with it at all." She stated. It seemed like there was no reasoning with her at this point. I supposed it would be best to just move on then.
"Fine, then I'll probably start dating James." I told her. I was going to give her a chance before I asked him out, but I wasn't sure if she would do anything. "I said unless someone else is interested and since you're clearly not interested in dating, so I'm gonna go out with him."
"I think I'm gonna go so I don't do anything that I regret." She announced.
"Max, please you don't have to go." I remarked, but she didn't listen. I didn't know what to do. It was getting pretty late and it would probably be a good idea for me to just go to bed, if I would be able to sleep at all. Not only were Cody and Bailey having sex, but I was also kind of conflicted. Was it wrong for me to say that I wouldn't wait for her? On the other hand, I didn't know if she wouldn't keep making excuses and I didn't want to hold out for a relationship that might never happen. It was frustrating, but I needed to look out for me.
I decided to try to watch some of my videos before bed. I wanted to make one soon. It was so weird that something like this existed despite the fact that they were never recorded.
In the morning, Bailey came into my room.
"Where's Max?" She asked.
"She went home last night." I told her.
"I thought she was staying over. I thought that we could all go shopping together." She stated.
"Max, really doesn't like shopping, but I'll still go with you. We don't need to go right now." I offered. "So do you want to talk about anything other than Cody?"
"Oh I forgot to congratulate you." She told me.
"For what?" I asked.
"I saw that you just recently hit a million subscribers." She remarked.
"It's really not that big of a deal." I argued. I didn't even think I was making any money from it, or if I was, I didn't know it. I wasn't someone who needed to make money off of it.
"Well do you want to make another video together?" She asked. I made videos with her? I supposed it made sense because some of the videos looked like they were shot on the S.S. Tipton.
"You know what? Let's do it. Just let me get ready." I requested. I would also need some time to figure out what song I wanted to sing. I didn't want to be obvious because I didn't want Max to know about it.
I ended up singing "November Rain". It was a bit long. I had actually done a parody of it on the boat. I dressed up Axl and Woody dressed like Slash. I really could play piano, even though I didn't do it that much. I felt better after singing it.
"I'm surprised that you wanted to do that." Bailey commented.
"I thought that I should do something extra special for the special occasion." I explained. "I wonder what it will be like now that I have a million subscribers?"
"I don't know why you haven't gone a big label yet. You could be the next Hannah Montana." She told me.
"I don't think I'm ready for that yet." I admitted. I had no idea what being a popstar would be like. I wanted to make sure that I knew what I was getting into. I also wasn't sure about performing for thousands of people. Just singing at prom was kind of scary and that was only in front of a few hundred people.
We then got some breakfast and a few hours later, the two of us headed to the mall together. You know I couldn't remember the last time that I hung out with Bailey. It was probably around when I first got on the ship. I was probably right in choosing not to pursue Bailey because Cody clearly liked her more. We walked into the mall and started to look around. I would let Bailey decide where we went because she was visiting.
"So what did I miss after we left?" Bailey asked.
"Well I was voted prom queen." I answered like it was no big deal. It really wasn't to me because those kinds of things weren't important to me.
"Really?" Bailey asked with a voice full of excitement. "I thought you had to be a senior to be prom queen."
"Well I was actually the first junior." I explained. She seemed to be more excited about it than I was. I heard some schools had separate proms for juniors and seniors so they could have two queens…which honestly sounded like a big waste of money to me.
"Damn, I really wish we had stayed longer." Bailey responded. "So did you get to dance with the king? What's his name?"
"Yeah." I answered. "His name is James Garrett."
"Is he hot?" Bailey asked which made me blush a little. I couldn't help but wonder how I was going to ask him out considering that I had no idea where to find him. I didn't even remember his number because of everything that went down with Max.
"Yeah I think that would be considered a good description of him." I answered. "He gave me his number but I kind of lost it."
"It would be pretty romantic if the two of you started dating." Bailey stated before she stopped. I noticed that we were in front of Victoria's Secret. "I wanna get something from here. Something that I think Cody would like."
"Please don't make me think of you having sex with my brother." I requested. She was probably a little bit bummed because she wanted to talk about it with me, but she also knew that I didn't want to talk about it. I wondered if I should tell her about Trent, but I probably didn't need to because it was already resolved.
"I'll try my best." Bailey said as she began to look through the babydoll nighties. "You should get one of these too."
"I have no reason to." I answered with a blush. I didn't know if I could wear something like that. "I'm not planning on doing anything but sleeping in my bed anytime soon."
"What about James?" She asked. That made me blush even more.
"Bailey, I just met him last night." I told her. "I don't wanna have sex again unless it's with someone that I love. I made that mistake once and almost paid the price for it."
I did understand the irony of not wanting to have sex, but I was a guy all of the times and I was having sex with a girl. Having sex as a girl with a guy scared me because I didn't know what it would feel like. I knew that it might feel good, but I didn't know if I wanted it to feel good. I still wanted to be a guy again, even though it didn't look like that was going to happen.
"You and Holden were a really cute couple." Bailey commented as she grabbed a garment off of the rack.
"Yeah but I didn't love him." I explained. That was something that I could say confidently. I was still improvising this situation that I knew nothing about. "And I don't know if he loved me. If I had gotten pregnant, I have no idea if he would have stayed. I can't imagine what it would be like to have to raise a baby on my own."
I wasn't sure why I said that. I definitely did not want to get pregnant. Having a period was bad enough and I had a feeling that being pregnant would be even worse.
"Okay I get that but they also feel pretty comfortable." Bailey said as she let me touch the soft fabric. It did feel like it would feel pretty good to wear. "Listen, the only reason I suggested it was because they're on sale. I'll make you a deal, you try one on and if you don't like it, you can put it back."
"You do realize that I'm the one paying for it, don't you?" I pointed out. I had a feeling that she didn't have the money to pay for Victoria's Secret, even if it was on sale.
"Which gives you more reason to do it." She countered. "You should get something for yourself."
"There's no way I can talk you out of this, is there?" I asked as she shook her head. I sighed and picked out a blue one with pink lace. "Fine."
The two of us heading to the dressing room and put on the garments, which came with a pair of matching panties. It did feel really nice against my skin. I felt a little bit exposed, but no one was looking at me other than Bailey. The fact that it was sleepwear meant that very few people would see me in it.
"So what do you think?" Bailey asked. Hers was pink with black lace.
"I guess it's not so bad." I answered. "I still feel kind of exposed like this though."
"Well you're not going to be walking out in public in it. You'll just be wearing it to bed." She declared. "So I have really good news."
"What?" I asked. That was a bit of a random statement.
"I'm gonna be staying with you for the summer. I've already graduated and I'm gonna be staying until Cody and I start college." The brunette declared. I had heard that she was trying to graduate early because Cody was graduating early.
"Really, that's great!" I exclaimed. I wasn't sure why I felt so excited. Maybe it was because I always felt better when Bailey was around.
"Yeah I'll be in your room since apparently your parents don't want me and Cody sharing a room. But I don't really mind. We'll be sharing a room in college." She told me.
"How is that going to work?" I asked. I wouldn't mind sharing a bed with her, but it might be a little bit awkward.
"Your parents are buying me a futon." Bailey answered before my phone started to ring.
"Hello?" I answered. It said it was from an unknown number.
"Zoey?" James asked. He probably hadn't memorized what my voice sounded like.
"Yes." I confirmed.
"It's me James from the prom, we danced together and then you gave me your number." He declared. It was a little cute that he felt the need to remind me.
"I remember you. What's up?" I asked him. I wondered if he was about to ask me out.
"I was just wondering if you wanted to go out sometime." He replied.
"Sure, when?" I agreed. I had a feeling that he was a good guy, even though I had thought the same about Trent. Maybe I just needed to be more upfront.
"Well how about tomorrow after school?" James asked.
"Tomorrow's good." I responded. "Where are we gonna go?"
"How about I let you decide tomorrow night?" He suggested. It was usually a good sign when the guy let the girl pick where to go.
"That sounds good. And do you think you could send a picture of yourself to me. I wanna show my friend." I requested as I looked at Bailey.
"Sure I'll do that now. Bye." He replied.
"Bye" I reciprocated as I ended the call. A few seconds later a picture came in.
"Damn, he is hot." Bailey stated. She looked like she wanted to drool a little.
"You know I just realized that we have standing here in these." I noted with a bit of a blush. "How about we go get changed and then we can get something to eat?
The two of them went backing into the dressing room and then we went to the counter and paid for the garments. I would have to make sure that my mom or dad didn't see these. Fortunately, I was already doing my own laundry. After we left the store, we headed to the food court. I didn't want to go to the Chinese place again.
"So where do you wanna eat?" I asked.
"Honestly, I don't know. They don't have any of these places in Kettlecorn." She answered. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to live in such a small town. That was probably why Bailey wanted to stay here with us.
"Okay then we'll go to KFC." I suggested before we went to the chicken place.
"Hello can I take your...Zoey?" James asked. Okay, that was a bit of a funny coincidence. Had called me from work?
"Hi, I didn't know that you worked here." I replied. I saw also surprised that he was there on the day after prom. Max and I had both taken off work after all.
"Hi, I'm I'm" Bailey stammered, awestruck
"She's Bailey, my friend and brother's girlfriend." I replied hoping that would snap her out of her stupor.
"Come to think of it, I think I know your brother. Cody, right?" He asked as I nodded. "We're in Beta Club together. I think you should probably order, there's a line forming."
"What? Sure." I replied as I noticed that there was a few people behind us. "We'll have 2 Grilled Chicken Combos, one with corn and one with potatoes and 2 fruit punches. She's actually never been here so I'm not just saying that because her brain seems to be frozen."
"Okay I got all of that." James replied before I paid and he retrieved the food. "I seem to have that effect on girls. I'll see you tomorrow night."
"Yeah me too." I agreed before I took the food and also Bailey to the table.
So Max does not want a relationship with Zoey yet, which means she's going to start with James and her shopping trip with Bailey got a little sexy. Please don't forget to review.
